Minister Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has said that it costs the Nigerian governments N3.5 million naira a month to feed Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, IMN, otherwise known as Shiite. Army/Shiites Clash unwarranted, Lawless – CSOs Lai Mohamme Mr. Mohammed made the statement which has gone viral on social media on Wednesday, following the decision of the Kaduna court which denied the IMN leader bail. The IMN leader and his wife have been in detention after they were arrested in Zaria, in December 2015. They were first arraigned on May 15, 2018 and charged alleged murder, culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of public peace, among others. They have subsequently been denied bail severally while his followers have continuously been having violent clashes with the security operatives, especially the Nigerian army. After a bail application was entered again in court yesterday and was denied, the minister of Information had addressed some journalists where he informed them that El-Zakzaky was kept in a safe place. He however added that it costs the Nigerian government a whopping sum of N3.5 million naira a month to feed the IMN leader who is in detention. According to the minister, “the issue of whether, where he is, let’s keep it off record. He is in a residence and eating; I mean, it costs the government N3.5 million naira every month to feed him.” “I asked. We don’t want to inflame passion. Islamic Movement in Nigeria are a different kettle of fish.” Meanwhile, MR. Mohammed’s statement has sparked outrage on social media with many expressing shock and disbelief at the minister’s claim on the feeding of the Shiite leader. Some have even said it was not economical foe the government to keep holding the IMN leader in detention if such cost is being incurred. Below are people’s reactions to the statement: PDP Vanguard @PDPVanguard “It costs the Nigerian government N3.5m per month to feed ElZakzaky.” – Lai Mohammed. Are they feeding him with gold rice? Does he drinks diamond water? The corruption under Buhari did it internship at “HAVARD INSTITUTE OF STEALING” PMB and Corruption/forgery are 5&6.” Kwankwasiyya @dadiyata “A possible breakdown of Zazzaky’s DAILY consumption going by Lai Mohammed‘s claim that it cost the govt 120K daily to feed him. One Big Ram One Bag of Rice 5 crates of eggs 5 Loaves of Bread 10 Bottle water 3 Mudu of Garri 1 Mudu of Sugar 4 Tins of Milk & Milo” Igala_King @I_Am_Ilemona “It costs the Nigerian government N3.5m per month to feed ElZakzaky.” – Lai Mohammed. 1. This is sounds like a lie. 2. It makes no sense to continue incurring that cost instead of respecting the order given by Justice Gabriel Kolawole & releasing the man” Zain Ameen @zinadabo1 “So I saw Lai Mohammed during an interview saying @MBuhari spends 3.5 million in feeding El-zakzaky monthly. Please are they feeding the Man with gold rice and diamond beef? they re keeping him in custody as their leakage for siphoning funds.” Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/11/it-costs-fg-n3-5m-a-month-to-feed-shiites-leader-el-zakzaky-lai-mohammed/ |

Which Image. The one we already know or the one he want to retire with after 2019? |
sarrki:And bless you too. |
I wish this statement was made by the Islamic council or MURIC. It would have been weighty enough to let the sympathisers of these blood suckers know that they are being evil supporting evil group. But they can't make that statement because it would result to statements on many wives, 7 virgins, infidel Christians and many of it likes. |
Since the national body of PDP didn't make a statement about it, its either plateau state is of less important to them or they have no interest in J.T. Useni. |
Lalong should have appointed new transition chairmen if he wanted to replace the ones already in place instead of disgracing himself and APC in this thing he called election. He has shown clearly that he is a true APC blood. |
Trouble1:So they don't have camera to snap at least one pinshur of their rice farm. They should not snap my farm when they finally buy camera |
sarrki:I haven't heard of any other place called Anambra other than the one in Nigeria. |

afroniger:No. It is those other candidates that are sold out. They have collected a huge sum to try and divide the vote of the South East. They haven't won any electoral position before and they think they would have chance. |
stephanie11:Resign as in Saraki is the senate president of PDP. Akpabios zombiesm might end up to be more than that of known zombies. |
TarOrfeek:Ah aahhh |
theoldpretender:GEJ wanted subsidy removed because fraud became prevalent. Marketers uses one product to collect 2-5 times subsidy on the same product because we couldn't tracks these products and the port officials were compromised. He had done his surveys and found out that the actual market price was far less and wanted to create avenue for competition so as to crash the price but he was blackmailed by both APC for political gain and marketers who were the fraudsters. 1.Can we have sone actual sources of this your information? I know APC lies....but when PDP lies...pot meet kettle. When Buhari took over, it was reported that Nigerians were paying the federal government between 8-16 naira per liter of petrol. This is excluding the 8-16 naira per litre gain fixed for marketers. NNPC also came out to tell Nigerians that they have drastically reduced the cost of refining crude oil to bellow $20 per barrel. This also should affect the price but it didn't. I don't have to tell you sources to be statistically correct. The minister of petroleum has piled up for himself billions of dollars. I have idea what they are meant for. |
Nbote:Exactly. The minister of Petroleum, Buhari and NNPC counterparts are the sole importer of petroleum products to avoid paying subsidy to marketers. They fixed the price of fuel at 145 naira when the actual cost was less than 40 naira per liter when the crude oil price fell to 38 dollar per barrel. Now the price of crude oil has skyrocketed to 80 dollar per barrel, we will start hearing of subsidy. |
adinoyi360:Yes o. We are also hearing that they are going to swear in the APC candidate in Mangu Local government tomorrow Monday while leaving the one for langtan North for PDP after the two Local government was declared inconclusive. The youths are waiting for them to try this and for other APC candidates declared winners to resume official activities on Monday. Open your ears to events that would transpire on Monday in plateau state. |
dalongjnr:If you wish your state well, you would want to see the right thing done. Unfortunately, you only care about yourself so you have to do anything including destroying the truth and peace of your people to make sure that the half bread that is better than none you are receiving keeps coming. I know you won't like to go back to poverty. About celebrating the weekend, I prefer kunun aya. I have already had one today. Thanks for your concern. |

dalongjnr:How comes the election was declared inconclusive. |
GSA01:What you don't know, it is better you don't talk about it. |
After minutes of sporadic shooting in the air, soldiers are nor patrolling the city in motorbikes speeding. This was after a top military officer put some soldiers to frog jump for shooting in the air to dispatch crowd that blocked the road. |
dalongjnr:Even Buhari will laugh at you for saying this. How can an opposition rig the polling unit of a deputy governor. You can't accept the fact that APC is a rejected party. Why will Mangu vote against APC even though they have the current deputy governor as their son. Burki and Lawrence are loved but PDP is favoured to win because the people have rejected APC |
MrJanuzaj:You are not current. The election here was declared inconclusive when elections were peacefully done. No polling unit was cancelled and collation wasn't completed yet. Read the news of what transpired. The REC and some officials received a call to come back to Jos while collation was still on. The youth kept vigil at the collation centre waiting for the REC to no avail. Only to hear that the election was inconclusive. He did not rig it. So why did he leave lagos for Tinubu? Is it not the people that will decide for themselves? How did Atiku conquer SW except LagosIts like asking how do politicians campaign. |
MrJanuzaj:Did he also said he conquered SW by rigging? Show me the evidence that the Platueau state elecrion is rigged.https://www.google.com.ng/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2018/10/11/plateau-council-elections-pdp-apc-bicker-over-irregularities/%3Famp&ved=2ahUKEwi89bDWy_7dAhUvyoUKHZs5AqUQFjAFegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw1-V1xiYvNyEQBmAs821NfG&cf=1 https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/plateau-lg-polls-angry-youths-block-roads-insist-on-results.html How can results be announced without figures. How can results be announced when collation has not ended at the local government secretariat. Logically impossible. |
Angry youths in Mangu have blocked the only road leading to Jos to protest alleged refusal of electoral officers to release the results of the Plateau local governments elections held on Wednesday. The youths have refused all entreaties to vacate the road, and have vowed to remain there until the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), announces the outcome of the polls. Sources indicated that trouble started Wednesday night when the Returning Officer for the local government, Mr Christopher Beten, General Manager, Plateau Environmental Protection Agency, started the collation of results from the wards, but abandoned the exercise midway. “The official had collected results from some wards when a call came. He immediately told the agents and other ward returning officers waiting to take their turns, that he had been summoned to Jos,” a security source said. The source said that the caller also spoke with the Electoral Officer in charge of Mangu Local Government, Mr Hosea Plang, as well as a senior Police officer maintaining law and order at the centre, adding that the trio left the collation centre few minutes later. “This happened last night, but since they left, we have not seen any of them. “We suspect that they want to manufacture figures and announce same in Jos. That is why the youths are angry and have reacted by blocking the highway to demand for the declaration of the results,” the source added. Following the youths’ action, motorists coming from Shendam and Langtang axis have been stopped from moving to Jos, while those from Jos are massed up on the other side, waiting to be allowed to move. A spokesman of the youths, who gave his name as James, Reporters that the road would remain blocked “until the Returning Officer comes back to declare the result of yesterday’s election”. “We, the youths of Mangu, will not allow any car to pass through Mangu town until the needful is done by PLASIEC officials that conducted the local governments elections yesterday (Wednesday),” he said. Contacted, Mr Terna Tyopev, spokesman of the Plateau Police Command, confirmed the protest, but said that security personnel were trying to calm the youths. “We are trying to ensure that the situation does not get out of hand. “The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in Mangu has confirmed the whole situation to me, but we are doing our best and have appealed to the youths to be peaceful in their protest, ’’ he said. Similar situation is brewing in Pankshin Local Government where the PLASIEC Returning Officer has yet to show up at the collation centre as at 8.22 a.m. this morning. “We have just brought results collated from the wards to the local government collation centre, but there is no single PLASIEC official around to receive them,” Mr Samuel Goar, a former chairman of the local government. According to him “there appears to be some sinister move by PLASIEC and the state government to manipulate the election in favour of a political party, but we shall not accept such manipulation”. He said that candidates worked very hard for success at the polls and should not be robbed of the fruits of such labour. Also Speaking, Mr Dom Joseph, an official of the PDP, decried the attitude of PLASIEC officials, declaring that such behaviour was “shocking, disturbing and uncalled for”. “We suspected some foul play when they started sharing the sensitive materials and distributed duplicated copies of the results sheets instead of the original, to the 20 wards. “Since last night, we have been waiting for the PLASIEC officials, but none has surfaced so far. I have never seen a situation like this,” he said. Mr Benedict Shiknughul, PDP Vice Chariman, Plateau Central, told NAN in Mangu that the situation was “scary”. “What we have gathered is that PLASIEC has been told not to announce any result at the collation centres. The ploy is to cook figures and announce same in Jos. “We are surprised by what is happening because the tension it is generating is not good for the security situation in Plateau,” he said. Contacted, Mr Joshua Pesun, PLASIEC commissioner in charge of voter education and publicity, refused to comment on the development. “I cannot comment on this matter. Please contact the Chairman of the commission,” he said. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/plateau-lg-polls-angry-youths-block-roads-insist-on-results.html |
