There's dozens of ethnic groups in China and Malaysia. The reason they are successful and Africa largely is not is because their leaders learned from their mistakes and provided the basics so they can maintain stability.

Botswana did the opposite of what most African countries did. They did not promote tribalism, they did not chase whites with needed skills out just to look good but kept them and used them to train the rest of the black population.
