If he doesn't have access to public funds then he is living there illegally. Losing his job is his fault too.

I am going to presumed you have a settled status in the UK. For those still on visas, they have no recourse to public funds. It is also not unusual for him to be suspended from work pending the outcome of trial/investigation due to the the severity of the allegations.
@Op;i would suggest the person attempt to clear his name if he is innocent. There should be no room for sentiments while doing that and he should damn any consequences. Those allegations have already set in on the path of ruins and he should not allow any emotions cloud his judgement.

There's legal aid in UK so if it can't afford a lawyer, the govt will pay for one. If he can't afford to pay rent them he must have been a leech
What if he has no recourse to public fund?
Did you read where it was said he lost his job and he has spent on legal fees.
You don't need to be insensitive unless you know beyond what has been written by the OP.

However, if you're buying at market price, it should remain the same

Please I still need advice on this? Anyone?

Go on comparison sites like confused.com , moneysupermarket ,gocompare etc and get quotes after you put your details .
Just make the start date of the policy at least 2 weeks in advance to get cheaper options.

Go on spareroom and check the price of cheapest rooms in Bournemouth.
Have you thought about living expenses also or your host would feed you and transport you to school.
You are better off borrowing that money from whatever source and repay when you are a bit more settled in the UK.
Don't come and suffer yourself o.

I usually agree with you justwise but in this case, I have to stand my ground, one really has to really look through the surface to suss out the kind of person Phrankleen is.
The problem is that he has a relatively huge platform and as thus should be more neutral with his views. He never discusses the other side of things in Africa but is quick to cut people off for stating facts.

There are more than enough platforms already painting africa black. There are things you would come in western press and you would wonder if it's the same african continent that is being talked about.
A change in narrative and rebranding is needed and welcome. If he chooses to focus on the positive and paint africa as el dorado, good for him . Level of poverty and suffering in Western society is grossly and deliberately under reported.
No one has a monopoly of propaganda.

Please how does one go about medical insurance? Like how much does it cost and for what duration?. I may be needing it for my visiting parents.

For visit visa,I never used it. Not necessary for a young person if visit is short. Just hope nothing happens health wise. But necessary for elderly people. They can fall sick anytime.

U could check with insurance companies . Axa Mansard is a common one. Just go through the terms and conditions.

The health surcharge hasn't been scrapped yet; NHS workers with visas expiring after October 1st will need to pay. The PM promised to scrap it but it's not done yet.
Yes, I read it. What's the source?

I posted a link to the news. I have colleagues who initially paid for health surcharge (not free visa extension o) for training position due to start in August that have been refunded. I used that analogy for the current discourse because I couldn't find any link to the scrapped health surcharge also on the government website. Does that then make it false?
The initial attached screenshot was an earlier mail sent to someone that eventually got electronic visa waiver to start work during this lockdown.
VACs would be opening up soon anyway ,so that process may no longer be applicable.

I will indulge you because I would like you to show where it was stated that the automatic visa and IHS extensions for NHS and healthcare workers extended to doctors without valid leave in the UK. Whatever concessions made for NHS and healthcare workers are just for them. Read the link below for information on foreign NHS staff and healthcare workers in the UK, British citizens needing passports, expired visa vignettes and more guidance regarding visa applications. Note that the guidance is divided into 2 sections (those in the UK and those outside the UK)
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-uk-visa-applicants-and-temporary-uk-residents#outside-uk

I could not find anywhere in your link where it says health surcharge has been scrapped for NHS workers which is the current reality.
I have attached a screenshot of email they received. The requirements for the waiver is u have an expired vignette, VACs is still closed in your country and u have secured a flight to the UK to resume work in the NHS.
Loads of people travelled to the UK from different countries including Nigeria that were not entitled to visa
waiver pre-covid without noise .
Thanks for indulging me by the way.

They are not. Stop saying what UKVI hasn't said. There are no electronic visas for Nigerians. Any visa to a Nigerian national has to be on the person's passport. VACs are closed and UKVI has said that those with expired visa vignettes can apply for new vignettes once the VACs in their countries are open.
The only change in the visa application procedures are for visitors stranded in the UK who would have had to return to their countries to make new applications. NHS and healthcare workers have been granted visa application and IHS fee waivers.

Please provide an official link not news item to the IHS waiver bit.

Stop beating around the bush.

Where was it stated in black and white that the UK granted waivers to medical personnel outside UK?

Do you agree that health surcharge was scrapped for NHS workers? (That was a popular news item ) .
Now go to the official government website and find a link to that policy change.
After doing that ,apply the same logic to what I have been saying all along.

Health workers with valid leave in the UK, not in Nigeria. Even those with the expired 30-day vignettes have to wait till the VACs are open for applications to apply for a renewal of their vignettes.

People with expired vignette are being granted electronic visa waiver to travel .
Electronic because VACs were closed. You are stating the pre-covid procedure which I know.
This shouldn't even be up for argument.

health surcharge was scrapped by government for NHS workers, yet those applying for visa extension after the announcement still paid. They are only just been refunded now. Yet this bit is not on the government website.

I think you are mixing it up with the free visa extensions for NHS staff. There's currently no visa waivers for doctors to travel to the UK.
Even British Nationals stuck outside the UK with expired or no passports have to wait for the VACs in their locations to open to enable them submit their passport applications.

He is actually very correct.
This arrangement is for health workers.

This is misleading, there is nothing like visa on arrival system between Nigeria and the UK, they can't board a flight without a valid visa.

The pandemic is a new frontier for everyone.
The concept of visa waiver that existed between UK and some countries has been extended to intending essential workers from from other countries. These people most likely hold the initial visa vignette which must have expired due to lock down.
The fact is you can get an electronic visa waiver to enable you pick up your BRP if your initial vignette is expired. This is granted on a case by case basis.

What are you going on about, which how much they try are you talking about . Are you even Nigerian and on the ground. The fact of the matter is in Nigeria people are doing jobs not suited to them because of money and lack of job opportunities. You find people who are apathetic to injustice doing police work, unpatriotic soldering and medical staff unsympathetic to human suffering. The medics here are always on strike for the most trivial of reasons risking people's lives despite being disproportionately paid more than the other workers. They should be pruned to allow better suited people in to do the job. If you want undue praises then hire praise singers.
My initial message was for health workers and if you are one it won't be difficult for you to understand.
If you have never worked as a hcw in a public hospital, it would be nearly impossible for you to see things from their perspective. So listen objectively when they cry out and don't let social media rants cloud your judgement. Alternatively, volunteer for a month in any government hospital close to you ,then come back and share your experience.
Can't believe u think 5k is proportionate pay for level of risk hcw get exposed to even before this pandemic?
Health care delivery is a service that is paid for and no amount of emotional blackmail can change that. You are free to render your service free and pay your bills with thank you(That's if u even get one sef)
Is it ok to ask a delivery person to drive a faulty vehicle, or a construction engineer to work without personal protection, or any office worker to work in a burning building ?
Why must it be fine for hcw to work without basic protection ?
If you don't value their lives , I am sure their loved ones want them back home alive.
Health / Re: What Do Nigerians Want Of Their Health Care Workers ? by thiagoteres(m): 12:47am On Apr 23, 2020
They can not be pleased no matter how much u try. Some people enjoy talking blindly . Just amuse yourself with their folly and do your job.
Hypocrites that have never read a letter of ethics would be mentioning Hippocratic oath.
Greedy people that make a living out of illegalities want to shame those making an honest living out of saving lives.
What have the noise makers done for the loved ones of health workers that have suffer preventable untimely death?
God bless all health workers out there.Protect yourself even if your employer won't.

Really sad story .

Fever, breathlessness, chest pain - it's not unwise to think corona virus .

Should health workers be running from covid?
I wouldn't think so with adequate protection.

'Is it safe to approach ? ' is one of the guiding principle for any emergency.
Those health workers should be punished for negligence if they have been provided with appropriate protection by their employers. Otherwise, this might just be another number to our terrible health indices.
