Michelle70:
if u read through this ur post again, u are still talking about Igbo presidency without knowing it, I think tribalism and partisan has eaten deep into us that we subconsciously get biased all the time.

At the end, its still tribe over personality for most of us
Excuse me dear, I had used that for an example, becuase I believed the man had no bad record, even when they accused him off stuff. He openly came out to refuted the claims with facts.

Tinibu on the other hand has taken Lagos as his booty, and his looking forward inaking Nigeria a booty of his too, and it isn't for Yoruba's benefit. It's a personal thing, but they end up standing in the podium saying, "It's for your interest, so other tribes won't see us as weak? So vote for your Yoruba person." That's the highest state of stupidity. If this go on the division and separation of others in this part of the country would continue to eat like a magoot leaving no scrap anymore. Everyone would simply go his or her tribe to make a nation the deem fit.

Pity all the people who's business has closed, the people who've commited suicide becuase of debts, the people who died to fend for their family and couldn't take the hardship anymore.

You surviving now is the Lord's doing. He wants you to make the best choice based on instincts and not your tribe.
When we die we turn to dust, and everyone's the same, so what good did the tribe do to you in the first place?

It is even better to die and be so rich and happy, than die based on fighting for tribe. The question is, do you have peace now other than fighting go keep your ego in place, because you think when a Yoruba is there people would salute you? Or hail you because a bad representative of the Yoruba's became president, it's a lie. You suffer the more and no one cares. No one really cares.

I think the igbos are the ones who wants to do it based on tribe and region with this their new found "it is our turn" song.

Personally, among those who has shown interest, I prefer Umahi except Osinbajo decides to run
True, but they are bringing good representatives to change the economic scope. To change our state of living. Look at Peter Obi for example. Please, pity ourselves, most internationally recognised apps cannot be accessed by Nigerians becuase of our poor state of diplomacy. Naira is weak, foods are way to expensive.

Even though we don't know what such a person can do use your instincts and choose the best, that's it. Don't choose becuase his from your tribe. He is from your tribe but does he know you. We are all blacks and we must live with pride. Tribe has nothing to do with your well-being or spirituality and it never will.

Romance › Re: 31 Problems Of Good Looking People by ThickSharon123(f): 1:35pm On Jan 20, 2022
Jackanda1:
I understand that good looks definately have advantages, but this thread will only discuss the disadvantages.

I am also aware that been less attractive has drawbacks. The fact that I am discussing the problems of beautiful people doesn't mean ugly people don't have problems. Let's focus on one aspect today.
I have a relative who is very handsome. We grew up, lived and schooled together (nursery-university). We are very close. The points in this thread are from observation.

For some reasons let me add: He was diagnose with anxiety and depression. He had low self esteem and was mostly a loner.

1.People are mostly insecured and intimidated by good looks. So they tend to react defensively against, subdue and humiliate you.

Its the same thing when people know you have a first class grade. You'll hear all sorts of degrading comments. Insecure people people will do anything to put u down, if you've got something they don't have.

2. Most people think life is easy for you, you're getting away with things and you don't have difficulties. So they deliberately decide to treat you with disdain. They think they are bringing about justice.

3. People stereotype you to be arrogant, proud, vain, stuck up, opportunist, mean, dumb etc anything you do or say, people find a way to relate it to the judgement they already have about you.

Thats why people say things like ' Does he have a good character' when discussing about gudlooking ppl.

4. Good looks +shyness is a curse. People don't expect you to be shy. You quietness &social inhibition could be interpretate to mean pride and arrogance.

5.Having a conversation with most people is like acting a poorly scripted movie. It seems people don't know how to act normal around you.

6. People are not free around you. They don't play or joke with you like everyone else. So youre mostly isolated

7. Since people donot expect you to have difficulties. They may be unsympathetic towards your problems, mock you behind your back and even use your trouble against you.

8. You are expected to be confidence, charismatic, have leadership skills, Rich and have a good life. Inability to meet up can cause metal breakdown.

9. You become the center of attention. Topic of discussion and gossip. Your business becomes everyone's business.

10. Even if you are in the right side of an argument. People will side against you.
It seems odd siding you.

11. Fine girls play over hard to get. Most average looking girls are intimidated and see themselves below your league

12. You can't joke or play around with people. They hinge on every word you say and may interpretate it to mean mockery or catty put downs.

13. Uneccesary aggression from fellow gender. Jealousy?

14. People think u are shallow, dumb, incapable etc. If a good looking person were to contest for election, most people won't vote for him. You're never taken seriously.

15. Everyone seems to easily believe anything bad about you and are willing to unite against a common enemy- you.

16. Most people donnot offer you help because they think you have it all.

17.You cannot talk about the problems of attractive people, no matter how badly it affects you.

18. Is it true people pay you complements often?
Why should they? So that your head will grow bigger that it's already is?

19. If your boss is intimidated by your looks, you might not get that job , no matter the qualification.

20.There are people who judge you negatively but not to point of butting head with you.

So they decide in their mind: ' I won't pay any attention to anything he says', I won't give him any validation or pay him any complements etc.
This gives them since of victory over you.
You might notice they make a big deal of ignoring everything you do or say

21. People make a big deal about your looks even more you do.

22. If you recently grew into your looks, you find most of your friends ghosting you.

23. Because of this problems, you can be forced into isolation

24. You are mostly ignored in a social group. Nobody speaks to you. You'll feel like a goat among lions.

25. People feel they need to compete and win against you. You might notice them unneccesarily showing off what they have that you don't have.

26. Most people act like they have gotten a life time achievement when they embarass, insult and put you down. They seem so happy and fulfilled. Pathetic

27. Most girls who like you but are intimidated by your looks act very aggresive to get your attention. This is usually counterproductive.

28. Since pple think everyone is kind to you, they decide to be the special ones that will make your life miserable.

29. Saying no to a request, cancelling an apointment can take a toll on people's emotions. They feel you are rejecting them or you are proud.

30. I don't know for fine girls, but fine boys tend to reject favors from people becos it makes you feel indebted to them. It also make u seems weak or like a woman. Even lalasticlala and seun can attest to it.

31. You are afraid of loosing your looks since its the only thing people value about you.
You forgot to add, every where you go they seem to look at you like you're an angel from the heaven, and you begin to hear words like "the babe to set," "she be Nigerian," "Finess opooorrrr." I'm tired of Nigeria. lipsrsealed undecided

I've tested fame a little, and I don't want it that's why I love life low-key.

Lol,
It is finished.
You just called my own city state "Nembe" Igbo origin?
Oh my God
You see why I say you're daft?
Again you called Delta State central ijaw.
If this is a joke, stop it.
Central ijaw clans are Nembe and akassa.
It was even categorized by linguist and researchers like Gerrit Dimmendaal, Kay Williamson, Roger blench etc.
Look at the first screenshot.
Look I'm taking it lightly with you because you're a foreigner who probably don't know.
You also say we do not understand ourselves? That is the most stupidest, silliest statement borne out of ignorance. I as a Nembe guy can hear when okrika, calabari, ogbia, tarakiri and ekpetiama people speak.
I will also show you prove from the second screenshot further down.
Keep on fooling yourself. Isn't it Alagoa your grand master that said Central Ijaw is in present Delta state.

And a great percentage of Nembe people speak Igbo as a first language, and have an Igbo history too. Read the books, and stop showing me Wikipedia notes that can be tweaked at any time.
I'll reiterate, Nembe has Igbo speaking, a majority of them do so. And its history is Igbo. If peradventure you are one, then read your history, perhaps this has been the cause of your insecurities and mental squabbles.

And it's a lie, isn't it known that a western Ijaw person can't hear a hoot when the others speak? That's one.

And Nembe, Kalabari and all those you've mentioned above either have Igbo or Ibibio history, Kalabari for certain has Aro, Ibibo, and Igbo history. I thank the whites who settled down here prehistorically and jotted down every detail, without that we wouldn't have known all these. 1880s- early 1900s are sources to be considered. Not 1970s reports on these city states.

And I also blame the whites becuase by creating Nigeria, such avenue gave the Ijaw the needed flow to begin to claim lands that weren't theirs because they desire to have some presence in Nigeria, so they could pull themselves from Minority status.

That's why you people are doing all things possible to put it that way. But it won't work, becuase you've failed. Most of these people you claim know their history, but becuase of the oil they found in Oloibiri and several factors which came to par; all these are temporary by the way. But they know, and I won't refute the claim that some are a bit lost to in their identity.

Not to feel sentimental, I won't bore you with much detail. Go and read Nembe and the likes account. And you'll know better. You've been stolen of your identity (if you're from Nembe) but you don't know.

Do you know that many of those with funny foreign names in Rivers state like Tam David West are Igbos who changed their Igbo names during and after the Biafra war to disguise their Igboness?
We all know, and the Ijaws are mostly hinged on history. And do you know their history are fabrications from Alagoa which started in the 1970s. Check the threads on Nairaland, Igbos and even Bonny people themselves have asserted Igbo ancestry, but Ijaw and their IYC brouhaha are always putting in place Alagoa's version of Ijaw history.

Ijaws were known as cannibals, men who lived in the creeks, and unicivilzed.

They are further buttressing their supposed points by calling any Bonny and Opobo Igbo who speak Igbo slaves, can you imagine the level of witchcraft going on there?

That isn't all, they are also heading to Ndoki, which is pure Igbo, no Ijaw inside that place, and calling it Ijaw too?

Alabo7978:
It was the Bonny people that called the hinterlanders igbinni because they were a people living in the thick forests with alot of cash crops.
And yes people in those days answer by Their city states etc but they all trace their ancestry to a source. Bonny is Igbo yet they call their kings AMAYANABO, their chiefs are called Alabo instead of Igwe or Eze and ichie.

Lol..
We've been through this before..
And you were MIA when I finally buried your comrades and their dead lies.
Look carefully, do you see them Making silly threads anymore?
Do you see anyone of them blabbing nonesense?
This year is for something productive not this.
Keep living in your delusion and only fans account.
Lol, Bonny and Opobo is Ijaw yet Amayanabo is not used in most Bayelsa towns, except for the towns which have Igbo Origin, for example, Nembe. It isn't even used in central Ijaw area which is Delta, the origin of Ijaws. To add, Igbo system isn't monarchial, all these titles like Eze, Igwe and the likes were introduced. Even the Amayanabo of Bonny and Opobo was just an enterprise in that period to sell slaves and palm oil to the British. Bonny and Opobo began as a business enterprise and wasn't intended to conquer or have empires at its feet. So this Amayanabo you're bringing or you Ijaws seem to bring everyday isn't like the King's of England's concept, where it's a pure monarchy whies interest is to have slaves and empires that it selfishly feeds from.

That said, Stop being silly, everyone, even Bonny themselves know their Igbos, they can call themselves what they like, perhaps, "I'm bonny and not Ijaw or Igbo" but they speak pure unadulterated southern Igbo language, which is hearable to many Igbo people in the south.

You Ijaws are being silly, western Ijaws can't understand Eastern Ijaws, then they decided to add Ndoki, becuase they know if they can get the brothers and sisters of Bony and Opobo, then they have them to their grasp. How do you intend to make a tribe with many tongues? What is Ijaws definition of a tribe. You say it's ancestry.

But Crow and the likes predating to pre-colonial history has ironed that out, but you guys are numb now and I'm thankful you people are now realising how you've been fooled by Alagoa himself.

Bonny and Opobo do not only have Igbo ancestry but, they speak Igbo and practice most of their cultures.

Lastly, to add, it isn't every tribe you find in the coast that are Ijaws. I've heard some news which says the Oron of Akwa Ibom are Ijaws. This isn't good, you'll simply make the southerners suspicious of your interest. You guys have no backing to ancestry or history of these tribes you claim but end up cleaning them becuase Ijaws believe all water bodies in this contraption called Nigeria are meant for them.

No correlation at all. In YOUR FIRST bolded quote, you said ubani(ibani) people (Bonny and Opobo) clearly speak igbo

The second bolded is you saying Bonny is forced to speak IBANI; but forgetting the fact that you stated ON YOUR FIRST BOLDED WORDS that ubani/ibani people speak Igbo.
Miss do you see the contradiction?

You even went on to state; on the subsequent bolded trash that ibani(ubani) is a KALABARI DIALECT; also forgetting the fact you said the same ibani(ubani) speak Igbo.
Smh, I can go on and on to fish out your dumbness in the stupid post you dropped but it's a new year so I'll let you continue in your st00piDT
Feel as you wish. Your brain is small to comprehend dear. So stop trying. Ubani is just a social construct, just the same way you call an Igbo person Aro, Ezza, Orlu or you call an Orlu, Ezza, Aro person an Igbo person? So keep to yourself.

Igbo is just an intelligeble language known by all. Just the same way the Igbanni or Ibani or Ubani people who were said to be coastal Igbos and their neighbours knew Igbos well and called them the word Igbanni or Ibani.

(To add, most clans in the Igbo state didn't call themselves Igbo, it was democratic as you know, so every one called themselves in their city states. )

If you read Crows and the likes books, Ibani or Ubani was aptly stated that it was an Igbo word which the coastal Igbos and it's people used for the upland igbos, and the Upland Igbos called their coastal kin the same word, Igbanni. Read books so you can learn, okay. grin grin

Nonetheless, Igbanni, Ibani or Ubani was made for the coastal Igbos by Igbos themselves. That's what they often called them. Read Crows or Glynn's and the likes book to get a grasp of it. And stop reading the liar, Alagoa. He has no basis whatsoever, but giving your community pure ficitonal stories.

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Typical IPOB members
So, what's your point. They are not breeding cows or that's your own cow?

The Cows native to the SE region are "muscular and bullish" in appearance. They have a heavy "Meat density" and they are not sexually molested like the Fulani Cow , that people consume.

I used 2 to for my Grandma remembrance celebrations and the meat na confirm.

See sample for an IGBO Cow.

And they are fed well. Look how fat, clean and healthy they are. Igbos I throw away cap for you, chisus kiss so nice.

Politics › Re: Eastern Development: Does These Images Show The Level Of Anambra’s Development? by ThickSharon123(f): 3:52pm On Jan 10, 2022
FEGNO:
*The economy of the former Eastern Region was planned from ground up by the US consulting firm Arthur D. Little.*

*Dr. Azikiwe brought them and they worked with M I Okpara at first, then with Sam Otti and later Eluwa who headed the Civil Service and later with Sir Louis Phillip Odumegwu Ojukwu who at the time was the Chairman of the Eastern Nicerian Development Corporation (ENDC) and also the Chairman of the Eastern Nigeria Commodities Board (ENCB)*

Louis Phillip Odumegwu Ojukwu also sat as Chairman of 15 multinational companies at the time - John Holt, PZ, Michelin, Costain, Thomas Wyatt, Guinness, GB Ollivant etc

He was so rich that he single handedly funded the establishment of the Lagos Stock Exchange but refused to list his company there for fear of losing control

His photo still hangs proudly on the floor of that exchange as its first chairman

*Arthur D Little also worked with a coterie of young Eastern Nigerian economists at the time - Pius Okigbo (PhD Northwestern), Ukwu I. Ukwu (PhD Cambridge), Chukwu Sunday Okongwu (PhD Harvard). These young men in their early twenties worked with Arthur D Little to plan our economy from scratch*

I know this because Ukwu I Ukwu taught me at Nsukka and I also worked in Dr Chu SP Okongwu's economic planning firm right during and after grad school in Nigeria.

*Arthur D. Little recommended the setting up of a university in the East to produce key skills needed to drive economic growth as most of those skills were not being taught in Ibadan at the time*

*Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe sent Dr Akpabio (MA Columbia) who at the time was the East's Minister of Education on an extended tour to universities in Michigan and New York for collaboration in key fields like medicine, engineering,, surveying and photogrammetry and business administration.*

*UNN was the first school in Nigeria to offer many of these courses.* Ibadan at the time taught mostly Classics, General Science and later Medicine

*Palm oil, Palm Kernel, Coal, Cocoa (from Ikom), Coffee from Obudu and later petroleum from firstly Izombe - Oguta area and later from Oloibiri in Ijaw land drove the economy of the East*

*In terms of development, the East started late, compared to the West.*

*Development and education had started in Lagos and Abeokuta right after Beecroft occupied Lagos in 1850s and made it a British colony. Lagos and the SW thus had more than a 70 year headstart over the East in terms of total gross capital formation and the platform that it gave for growth.*

*But after the implementation of Arthur D Little's recommended growth plan, the East's economy grew at more than 9.2%, starting from 1958 till 1967 when the war began*

*At over 9%, the Eastern Region in this period, had the fastest growing economy on earth consistently for 9 years and was estimated to equal Western Nigeria by 1978 (in terms of total gross capital formation) and then overtake the Western Region after that.*

The civil war truncated that momentum and the East never recovered after that.

*Louis Philip Odumegwu Ojukwu brought his industrial influence to bear on the growth plan as he singlehandedly pushed for the establishment of not just industrial estates but industrial corridors in the region.*

*An industrial estate is localized. An industrial corridor joins two or more industrial estates to form an industrial conurbation.*

*Industrial estates sprang up across the East TransAmadi in PH.*

*Aba for light industries.*

*Umuahia for biotechnology.*

*Emene in Enugu for steel and industrial automation.*

*Nkalagu, PH and Calabar for cement and building materials.*

*Onitsha as an emporium to drive retail trading.*

*Obudu in Cross River for dairy, holidaying and corporate meetings.*

*Because he was the chairman of 15 multinational companies at the time, he used his influence to compel many of them to buy into the East's industrialization plan.*

*Okpara also partnered with Israel for the setting up of industrial farms and plantations - seedling production, extension services, assistance to farmers etc.*

*So plantations (cashew nuts, palm kernel, cocoa, coffee, timber etc) sprang up in Oghe (Enugu State), Okigwe (Abia State), Obudu, Itumbenuzor, Akamkpa all in Cross River state and in various parts of Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Abia etc.*

*Okpara personally delivered some of the seedlings himself by driving behind the trucks that did the delivery.*

*Sir Louis Phillip Odumegwu Ojukwu pushed for the establishment of 3 major cement plants in the region - Nkalagu, Eastern Bulkcem in PH and Calabar cement factory in Calabar.*

*Nkalagu and PH opened before the war started in 1967. Everything for the take off of the Calabar cement factory was purchased but the war truncated its take off.*

*In 1970, Governor Esuene of the newly-created Cross River State opened Calcemco plant to the appause of many.*

*Three industrial corridors were planned also planned for the East*

*The Emene-Nkalagu Industrial corridor which was to focus on automobiles, building materials and industrial automation. Kaiser Motors in the US at the time (it has since been acquired) had agreed to build a car plant in Emene and a plant for car engines. That corridor was to stretch for almost 100 miles*

*The second industrial corridor was to stretch between PH and Aba. So industrial centers were set up in Trans Amadi and in Aba and over a ten to 15 year period, these two centers were to be linked by many feeder industries that would be located on the highway joining both cities.*

*Okpara had hoped that over time, the PH-Aba industrial corridor would follow the old road between Port Harcourt and Enugu and join with the Emene - Nkalagu industrial corridor to create a massive industrial cornubation that almost imitates the almost 200 kilometer Ruhr Industrial Valley in Germany built under Chancellor Otto Von Bismarck*

*Onitsha was to drive the East's Retail economy and so the market was built there as an Emporium...to attract buyers from all over Nigeria and West and Central Africa so they could come spend their money in the East.*

*Dubai would copy this same model 50 years later and implement it successfully but on a global scale. Onitsha market achieved its purpose by 1958, two years after the East achieved self government. It became the preferred destination for retail and bulk shoppers from a over West Africa and even Cameroon, Gabon and Congo. This gave the Anambra Igbo a head start in retail trading...an advantage that they enjoy till date.*

*All of these development and growth projects were centrally driven by the Eastern Nigeria Development Corporation - ENDC and the revenues were centrally aggregated into the account of the Eastern Nigerian Commodities Board (ENCB). Both groups were headed by Sir Louis Phillip Odumegwu Ojukwu*

*Funds for development came mostly from 3 sources.*

*1. Local revenues from the export of cocoa(Ikom and Itumbenuzor), coffee (Obudu and Arochukwu), timber (Akamkpa) Coal (Enugu-Udi), Palm oil (Rivers, Imo, Abia), Palm kernel (Rivers, Imo, Abia)*

*2. Direct Foreign Investments*

*3. Loans from Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC)*

*Umuahia was to midwife the Easts' biotechnology industries which explains why Golden Guinea Brewery and the Root Crop Research Instutute were established there.*

*Obudu because of its pristine hills and its fresh weather was to be a holiday resort for many as well as a primary center for a dairy industry that just started before the war commenced. Obudu Cattle Ranch was the first in a series of investments that got scuttled in Obudu by the war.*

*Lastly, oil was discovered late. Chief Nwodo, Eastern Nigeria's first Minister for Trade (father to the past Ohaneze Chairman) negotiated the first contracts with Shell on a 50-50 investment and sharing basis.*

*Virtually all of the East's oil assets were seized by the Federal Government under Gowon with no compensation paid till date. The Federal Government simply inherited the East's 50% slot and paid nothing for it. Today everyone profits from it*

*Most of the catalytic cracking and downward refineries that NNPC would later build were in the plans that the Eastern Regional Government had for the region.*

*Today, some of those plants are located in far away Kaduna and no mention is ever made of the East.*

*Every Nigerian today depends on that oil to survive including states that claim that they can survive from internally-generated revenues.*

*I believe that rather than whine everyday, we Igbos should sit down and learn our history...take a look at the growth plans that got scuttled in 1967 and see how we can work to together to pick up the pieces and build again from scratch*

*Nnamdi Ezeji*
Thank you for this. This is an eye opener. And very informative

This is how you come online to exhibit mindless ignorance....

I am sure you see the name Akamkpa and decide to run with it without knowing anything about it...

Akamkpa is just a geographical appelation.

Arochukwu civilisation and exploits are well-known in history so it will amount to wastage of precious time dwelling on your simple-minded assertions.
I believe truly that aribisala0 and KingOkon are the same moniker.
