Vital win. Kudos to the boys: Best performers for me are: Aina Nwabali Lookman Ajayi Bassey Ekong Osihmen (for winning the penalty) We go harder next game |
Where did 9 minutes come from biko? |
veekid:I agree. He completely shut down Fofana and the left winger on that his side. |
Angelfrost:Why I like Osihmen is that he doesnt give up. Even if he misses many chances, he keeps trying and for the most part gets rewarded. He is a high volume chances striker like Haaland. |
abbyyzino:Bro, abeg leave Amokachi and Ikpeba English as long as you understand whatever they are saying. Those two are exempted from grammatical rules ![]() |
Nwabali pls be kiaful o Referee will be under pressure from the Ivorian crowd to also give them a penalty. |
EKONGOAL!! |
Osihmen smart o. He deliberately stayed down so that VAR can pick up the incident and award a penalty. Now finish it off! |
Nazgul:I get the urge to always vex for 9ja matters, but to be honest our boys haven't played that bad at all so far. In my opinion, they've actually matched the Ivorians and only need a killer blow from Osihmen and co. |
If na Uzoho dey in goal now, that Fofana shot will push him enter net. Nwabali has been good so far. |
Damn, the house where the explosion occurred completely vaporized! I can only imagine the state of the people present around that time. They'd be lucky if any of their body parts are found at all. |
OJEEMAH:Happy new year my guy. Abi shey they want Messi to kill himself ni for an award he didn't even want ![]() Haaland should just go and wash his head African style cos it seems he is an award-repellent at the moment. This is the first time a favorite has been clearly usurped. Fifa should have extended the deadline like they did for Pendu in 2013 to force Haaland's win. |
hensben:Lol did I say it is rigged? I said that RM boys voted Messi and thats why he won over Haaland. But personally, I don't think Messi deserves it as within the validity period, Haaland and Mbappe did better in my opinion. Obviously, many of those that voted used the World cup win factor which should not have been so as Messi already won 2022 Fifa best correctly on that basis. If you didn't know, haters can use this one undeserving award to try to belittle previous awards won by Messi validly. I stand against that. You can't be more Messianic than I am. Check my receipts on this space. |
Theuniverse:Bro even Messi no want this particular award. It's a stain on his legacy which is why he didnt attend. They should knock Valverde and Modric's head and give the award back to Haaland; this is coming from a big Messi fan. Na Real Madrid sha make Messi win. F.Perez still wan pepper See Ronahdo. |
Beverlyjean:Errmm BJ, just to let you know that it's your fave team players that gave Messi the win. There was a tie with Haaland, and whoever had the higher captains votes was used to select the winner. 13 captains voted for Messi while Haaland recorded 11 captain votes. Well, the tie breakers were Modric, Valverde and Mbappe himself. So direct your queries to them ![]() cc: obonujoker, Ojeemah, Real Madrid won this award for Messi ![]()
|
OJEEMAH:Absolutely. I remember a lot of people here did not have clarity on the voting rules when the award opened and I even had to go and read through the Fifa brief to understand the criteria. Did they think many of those football captains have that patience? They should have kept it simple. |
obonujoker:Personally, I did not expect Messi to win it. Obviously the World cup win still somehow had a major role to play and that blame rests on FIFA. FIFA putting the voting commencement period in December must have confused several voters that the World cup was still a factor. Many of these footballers are not as arithmetically accurate as some of we fans and the WC sentiments played in. Voting period should have been clearly stated as Jan - Dec 2023. This is the only Messi award that I'd clearly say another player deserves which is Haaland. I'm sure even Messi did not expect it and that may have influenced his absence. Like I said the joke is on FIFA and doesn't take anything away from Messi's previous successes. Messi is the GOAT but he wasnt the best player of 2023. |
Hmm, to be candid, I never experred this. Since there's a tie, I think this should have gone to Haaland. The blame is on Fifa though confusing the voters by fixing the voting period to commence from 19th December just a day after the WC ended. This made many of the voters to still consider the WC cos there's no way only Lique 1 trophy and MLS cup will give Messi an edge over someone who won an European treble. The Fifa award really fell off in its organization. None of the 3 contenders even attended. Ballon D'or has been the real deal for a while now. |
DesChyko:No P bro. Inflation is what already pushed the fares from 17k then to 2.5million now. So that has been factored in already. Note that this comparison is only relevant specifically for the air ticket. It's likely that 125 Naira then could buy more regular commodities than the current 30k. It's a similar way mobile calls were more expensive back in 2002 than now while other things were generally much cheaper. |
DesChyko:This your analysis no too clear. Let's keep it simple. Both our minimum wage and air fares are in Naira. In 1985 when minimum wage was 125 Naira, you needed to earn it 139 times to afford the Lagos to New York ticket then. Now with min wage of 30k and average lag to NY ticket of 2 to 2.5 million Naira, you will need to earn 66 to 81 times the current min wage to afford the ticket. Seems like it was way more expensive back then. |
Other than Rashidi Yekini, I think Martins and Osimhen reached the highest world class levels of a striker for Nigeria. Kanu is not really a striker to me. He's more like a supporting forward. He's the best for Nigeria in this category. I feel Martins particularly underachieved as he had the highest potential among our strikers with his demonic pace. Between 2003 and 2005, Martins level was among the world best with the terrific partnership he formed with Adriano that tore Serie A defences to shreds. He was like a mini-version of Samuel Eto. I remember Martins making a mincemeat of Maldini in UCL semifinal in his goal against AC Milan. I remember him singlehandedly destroying Arsenal's defence at highbury in 2003. It's a pity he did not maximize his potential for Nigeria. The 2006 World cup miss stunted his legacy for Nigeria. |
Gamesmart:As in ehn. I no fit laugh. The guy is just displaying his ignorance of business investment architecture quite blatantly. He just wants to argue without knowing details of what he's fishing about for. It's like someone carrying a gun and pointing it at himself unknowingly. |
andrewbaba44: Osim extreme precaution lol I never see am. The very fact that he is playing in a non-essential supercup tournament already flings out the extreme part.We can still debate the precaution part sha since he didnt start the game yesterday. But I will still throw the pre away and maybe leave caution sign for that guy. Na me dey project Pedri above Vinicius back then. Injuries have slowed down my prediction but my guy will still show himself. |
andrewbaba44:Na Koeman wreck Pedri o. Bombarded him with an insane number of games that a 17-18 year old can only carry so much. Pedri did 3 years work in just one season under Koeman. Now his bones and muscles are buckling under the accumulated stress. Let's hope he fully recovers and doesnt become a customer daadaa for the surgical table like Fati. |
blkmum700:She must have used the bank premises so as to clearly implicate the bank as the primary cause of her decision. If she committed suicide at home, people might attribute it to relationship issues or some other remote causes. It's her way of telling the bank, "this is on you", and by extension she's brought the plight of other hapless bank marketers to limelight for others to fight their cause. |
I nominate: TheDarkporeShow, and Pocohantas / Pansophist They are both very capable. |
He's the GOAT. He deserves it. Maradona did well for his clubs but it's just that he is way below Messi in this area while Messi's national career is on par with Maradona's or even better as some may say. Retire the goddamn number please. |
HeatSeeker:Na Amoy degree centigrade you buy. E go regulate your body temperature ![]() |
This picture must have been taken in OAU Ife where they all attended. But wait, what's the probability that three undergraduate friends will all then go on to become celebrities a few years down the line? That's remarkable! |
TheFacelessMan:Lol, based on 2 personal experiences I've had, my mindset now is that all perfumes from Jumia and in fact online are fake. I prefer to walk into a physical store and test the fragrance before buying. Wait Chief, are you saying the Diors, D&Gs, YSLs and the likes of between 80 - 150k and the Creeds of 300k plus sold in Nigeria are also fake? |
