Car Talk / Re: Are Gear Problems Not Fixable In Nigeria? by ThoniaSlim(f): 1:53pm On Apr 10, 2019
greenhulk:

Like I said, it depends on the level of damage. Sometimes the problem is just a simple valve or filter or ball check. I had a serious transmission issue that almost made me change my transmission last October but suprisingly it got fixed and till now still going strong, in fact better than when I bought the car. I have traveled from Lagos to Ekiti to and fro 2 times, many trips to ibadan and saganu and transmission is still going strong. I also introdoced someone with same car as mine, working well. And before mine a Lexus rx300 had an issue that had been termed condemned and since last August after fixing it's still working. So I think it all depends on the level of damaged. If a transmission is not burnt, it can be fixed.

I've got to commend GreenHulk for his assistance in helping me sort my gear problem with his mechanic.

His gear guy just fixed my transmission and I've got to say, my ride this morning to work was smooth! Thank you so much!

How old is the car, how many miles and is it imported?

Mileage says 105,000 it's a Honda Civic EX 2003

The issue now is that yesterday when driving home in traffic, the transmission was on Drive, I was pressing down the accelerator and it wasn't moving. I had to pack by the road side and allow the engine cool for 20 mins and it was a smooth ride home. Same thing happened this morning.

I haff tire for the car. I want to change it next year but till then I just need it to work.

Cool. What was the issue?

Something about the alternator or injector mouth being to high. But generally they said my engine was weak and I might need to change it soon. cry

Take it elsewhere. There is no "adaptation". They messed something up

I did today. I took it to LuvinHubby's place and they sorted it for me.

Please house help me answer o. So I just changed my transmission on a Honda Civic. They brought the car today.

The transmission is perfect but I hear a funny sound from the engine and when I took it for a test drive and put the AC it looked like the engine was lagging.

My mechanic is saying the reason is because my transmission is new and the sensors need time to adapt (Whatever that means). He said I should give it a week and give a report next week. Alternatively he saying I might need to change the engine over time (No money ooo).

Please what do you guys think?

I'm only requesting for help or suggestions on what to do as a sane man who would not wanna rely only on his own understanding, I neva said I can't pay, as a businessman who has been doing this before, I already made my calculations that the landing cost would be around 330-340k, but the third party shipper which some are suggesting caused the high shipping rate, I had to accept not knowing it customs issues would still come up, I never wanted to use fedex, I always have dissatisfaction with them,

I'd like to thank all that gave useful suggestions without bashing, those that were negative too, thank you, it's a business, we should expect profit and loss, win some loose some!

N.B it can happen to anyone anytime, we are suppose to help each other not being negative to pull one's heart down.

This is a FEDEX issue! They are rogues! Not just in Nigeria alone.

I had the same bad experience with them while in Europe. Whereas when I use DHL, I have absolutely no issues. For future purposes, please avoid them and just use Nipost if you can't pay the cost of DHL.

lol... Now, i know whose education was a failure.
so, 'staff' can be used to describe a single person?
na ur type dey call urself 'choir' , instead of 'chorister'

Next time, don't come here to embarrass urself.

Now let me school you clown. The word 'Staff' is a collective noun that can be used as a single unit. When using the word staff to describe a single person, you should use a singular verb. For example 'The staff is very dedicated'

I just finished watching this Union Bank video clip and the lady wearing Hijab said sumfyn like 'staff' while referring to a single person. She also said sumfyn like 'fellow contemporary' even though this is a tautology.

And they expect me to score up to 80% in this test even though they are also not perfect. undecided

As a graduate, if you do not know that 'staff' is a collective noun and can be used to describe a single person or group of people, then your education was a failure.

Is it possible for a leopard to loose its spots?

A violent person is a violent person. It'll take a whole lot of effort for someone like that to change.

Sad thing is most violent people do not think they are violent. How do you expect change when the person doesn't even think there's a problem. Look at Shonde's husband trying to justify his actions by slut shaming his dead wife. How would such a person change?

This currency swap has too be one of the best decisions made so far by Buhari. With the value of the Naira dwindling, this could be another way to resuscitate it.

Also, China is the second largest economy in the world after the USA. So it only makes sense to diversify our foreign reserve in the Yuan as this will increase trade agreements between both countries.

Reason they have laws to protect them from fakes like you who can't think outside the box! I hope they take you to the cleaners! I've got to say I understand where this poster is coming from. You can't meet a guy in Lagos now without him asking questions like where you live or work. One he-male even suggested coming to visit me at work. Like seriously? You think my office is an eatery where you can stop by anytime? I didn't bother replying him.
