Onegai: In the U.S. there's a huge campaign against them on mommy blogs and forums. I guess it's cheap and the parent company is massive so no wahala to them from the govt. As soon as my paed saw the rash she asked "are you using Johnson's?" They are a big company and with all their marketing they still push out their products. |
Family › Re: Please What Kind Of Body Cream And Soap Can I Use For A Year Old Baby. by thorpido(m): 6:56pm On Mar 18, 2016 |
Onegai: Actually Johnson's products are quite harsh and irritate some babies skins (we got rashes for 3 weeks and a lot of people I know had the same reaction). Dove soap is great, especially the Dove Pure and Sensitive bar. And lots cheaper. My paed had us switch.
@Thorpido, my daughter gets a rash when we use petroleum-based stuff on her (pure Vaseline or cussons diaper cream). So I use beeswax based stuff (i mix or I buy) and it seems to work and is more natural. My paed too has written off Johnson's products. It sounds like demarketing them but like you rightly said their products are harsh. Some babies actually use them without any reaction though(african resilience i guess). I guess the same thing can't work for everyone.Vaseline blue seal is what i use but it still might not be okay for every baby like your daughter who reacts to it.Natural stuff are usually the best. |

Good old petroleum jelly for the skin and natural coconut oil for the hair.Ordinary lux soap, joy or dove soap is good enough. |

dhabeautyjas: dayojags10, from what you wrote, sorry to say, both of you do not have a mind of your own. her excuse is "her dad is a cleric" and your excuse is "ur parent want her to change"
i am a muslim and dh is a christian, we have been married for close to 4 years, with a kid and the other on the way, both of us are still practicing our various religions. We both love each other so much and are practicing our religion cos we want to practice them not cos our parents wants us to.
i have my praying corner in my inlaws house. we do all festivals together as a couple and thats it.
Figur, your story can as well happen to families that are same religion but the family never wanted them to marry so its not cos of the religious difference.
Simpleseyi and thorpido, marriage is beyond religion, no matter your religious belief, if your marriage will see the light of the day, it depends on both of you. there are people with same religion and happy as well as there are those with different and are also happy. its both sides of the coin.
so OP, first thing first, if your parent have to dictate how you will run your home, you are already starting on a wrong foot. they don't want her cos of her religion, they will reject another for something else. make up your mind and do what you feel is best for you.
my 2 cents. Sure marriage is beyond religion. There are people who don't even pratice religion and have a peaceful marriage. However, when both partners have different religions,it can complicate things. For people who practice 'liberal religion',they usually don't have a problem with it like in your case. However, for someone who walks in Christ or someone who is a deep follower of the quran,it won't work. Your marriage is still young(4yrs).As you get older, some things will start to play out e.g. where will the children go?The church or the mosque? I agree with you the Op doesn't yet have a mind of his own however. |

simpleseyi: Pastor Chris Okotie has divorced two Christian wives. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome just divorced Pastor (Mrs) Anita Oyakhilome. Alhaji Abubakar Audu divorced Hajia Audu before his death. However, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu the Jagban of Africa is still happily married to Pastor (Mrs) Oluremi Tinubu while Alhaji Babatunde Fashola is still happily married to Dame Emmanuella Fashola just as my humble self proposed Alhaji Simpleseyi is still happily married to holy spirit filled Iya-Jesus Mrs Simpleseyi. Pastor Mrs Adeboye is still married to Pastor Adeboye.Pastor Mrs Oyedepo is still married to Bishop Oyedepo. How come you didn't see that? You are dealing more with the exception rather than the norm. The bible says to be of the same faith. It makes life easier and together can forge in the same direction. |

Don't bother what people think in your area.Develop a thick skin to it all.Since you are a graduate,it is imminent that you will soon move out of the house and area.I want you to actively seek out a job- learn a trade or acquire some skills.Stop waiting for an office job. You should forgive your mum.It will help you in dealing with the affairs of your future. There is no implication you will suffer with whatever you decide to do.You could go and meet your real father and get to know him or you could decide to just let things be as they are and live your life.

^^^ I was going to ask that too. Op,what position are you in your family and how many children are there? All the children in a family usually will not get the same treatment sometimes because the parents are partial but most times because circumstances change. If I'm to use my family as an example,we boys came first before the last two girls. The girls obviously got better treatments and funds. Was I angry they did? No.I understood that since they were the last two and family expenses were less, they could afford more(my parents). So it's how you see it too and understand. Could your parents really afford much then while you schooled?
If I'm right, you are a graduate now.Don't be weighed down by the past.Look forward to your service and what you can make out of your life now.Your life is ahead of you now. |

Zoharariel: Africom is Terrorism & Terrorism is Africom.
Africom runs all the operations of Al-shabaab, Boko-Haram & all other terrorist franchise's from their secret military base in Chad.
When Africans raised concerns about Africom, we were said to suffer ‘misconceptions, misapprehensions, rumours, and fiction.
Now, is the United States of America government prepared to allow Russia or China to establish their own ‘American Command’ and call it ‘Americom’ in pursuit of their national interests in America?
A closer look at all of the so-called terrorist ‘franchises’ which the CIA are steering and managing throughout the continent reveals their true function – destabilisation, sectarian division which, of course, requires a US or NATO presence all over the continent. They are as follows:
Active CIA-MI6-Mossad-linked ‘franchisees’:
Boko Haram in Nigeria, Niger, Mali.
Al Shabab in Somalia and Kenya.
Al Qaeda in Islamic Magreb (AQIM) Algeria and Mali.
Musilm Brotherhood in Egypt.
Libyan Islamic Fighting Group.
Al Qaeda (all singing and dancing, ubiquitous pan-African/global brand name).
Most of the evil, chaos & anarchy in this world are perpetrated by the loving & caring Amerika. Hmmm. This is serious. Is America also behind ISIS? |

Prettiepearlz: Exactly my point doc, I am still sure my mum took Milo and I will ask her if she took it when nobody was watching because I still don't know why that my big headed brother weighed 5.5kg at birth. Although she said she always had big babies but none of us had been as big as that. She almost died if not God, coupled with the fact that she was in her forties then, it made it difficult and when they told her she was gonna give birth through Cs, she wanted to run away from the hospital and then go to church to pray but thanks to the doctors who didn't allow her go. Haa,your mum had a child weighing 5.5kg and she still wanted to run from the hospital?Quite a number of women reject C/S and run from the hospital but unfortunately some end up with complications. I think in your family the babies have a tendency to be big but your mum's advanced age and her diet would have contributed to your brother's size at birth. |
Family › Re: Is The Craving Not Too Early? by thorpido(m): 10:38am On Mar 14, 2016 |
blank: If your mum avoided beverages but still had a big baby doesn't that show you that it is not always a culprit? I took Milo everyday of my first pregnancy but still had a small baby. People are different.Genetics plays a major role in how a baby turns out and even if it doesn't affect some,it has affected others.I know quite a number of babies born big and some of the mothers confessed they actually took a lot of beverages. The key thing is moderation, cravings or not. |

For a first time mother, she needs to eat moderately.Taking a lot of sweet things might end up making the baby big.The indication is that she might be a candidate for C/S(nothing wrong with C/S because some people only have that option). She could also end up with tears if she's having the baby v.aginally. The general rule of life should be moderation.Let your wife try fruits more if she desires sweet things.
You say she has become troublesome in the night? Is she also craving in the bedroom(just joking)? |

You could simply have stated that it was your sister. It makes the thread more authentic and helps to separate trolls from people who need genuine advice. @Op,I hope the woman in this case has a job or stable source of income. There is nothing you can do if your husband decides he wants another woman to have a child for him.He in his foolishness does not know it is the man that determines the sex of the baby. I don't understand your statement about the people in his family having boys as first born and he didn't have.Is it something automatic? You people just need basic biology lessons. |
