2015 was a well orchestrated Yahoo-Yahoo scam

Facilitated by young smart savvy Nigerians who have been duly paid and rewarded for their efforts.

Some are now telling you Buhari has dissapointed them, (you marketed a wheelbarrow as 4-wheel drive, on receipt the customer complains that it is only one wheel that they are seeing, you say Ha! I didn't know - Abeg how stupid do you think people are?)

Selling Ice to Eskimos is your forte regardless of cost to lives and property?!

And you're proud of this?

Because you're young and successful and have access to Aso Villa?

You are an inglorious Yahoo Boy or Girl!

I'll leave the name calling for later but we know and they know who they are...

This means that Lagos is really a huge slum. Honestly I just realised most of the people in Ikotun and many other parts of Lagos stay in public compounds with very bad living conditions. I mean not just Lagos but other parts of Nigeria as well.

May God help Nigeria.

It appears safe to say that if this current government returns in 2019 THERE WILL BE NO SENATE!!!
embarassed embarassed cry

As bad as we think this democracy is there is a reason there are three arms of government.

This government has invested time, money and energy in denigrating the Senate - who believe it or not are actually officially the best since 1999 (more bills passed, budget released etc).

The last time we tried Democracy in the late seventies/early eighties there was so much hue and cry (deservedly so) about politicians and corruption. Alhaji Shehu Shagari was president.

Guess who toppled Shagari in a military coup?

I'm from Anambra State, but I stayed with my grandma in Imo State before leaving Nigeria.. When I was there, I had the opportunity to witness the 2011 elections which brought Rochas into power..

These are the four reasons why he won the election
1) Ojukwu said he was his candidate and people should vote for him

2) They said Gov. Ohakim beat up a Priest.. And you know, these Priests re worshipped so much in Igbo land

3)His so called Rochas foundation.. Nobody knew fraud was associated with the Rochas foundation.

4) The way Emmanuel Iwuanyawu, who never held a political post in Imo was the given so much accolades by Gov Ohakim.. Gov Rochas said he'd scrap Godfatherism in Imo.

But just like people said he's a fraudster, he scammed people in Imo State.
Thanks for the exposition, very interesting.

In Political Strategy your opponent matters a whole lot (Buhari contested three times before but lost. however with the almost corporate vilification of Jonathan, Buhari became an alternative, same with Rochas who has contested for the Presidency several times). Some citizens think they are VOTING OUT a bad leader when they may actually be voting in by default a much worse one.

herein lies my concern, that Buhari and APC are a carefully planned disaster is not in doubt, he probably will lose BUT this presents a scenario where ANYBODY is deemed better than Buhari (there are several individuals that come to mind who are much worse, across all tribes and all religions)

WE CANNOT AFFORD TO MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN! WE JSUT CAN'T!

This is the issue, El-Rufai goaded his followers at a recent campaign to shave the head and beards of the Kaduna Senators..

May I also point out that the so-called supporters were openly brandishing dangerous weapons?

It is bizarre that someone in the mould of El-Rufai would do such (but if you know you know)

No such thing existed back then

Lagos state couldn't distribute power to residents because it was against the constitution.
You shouldn't believe everything someone says.

Better to crosscheck for yourself.

As per they not having a website, it hurts that a postulation that lots of people down here don't travel round the country more often seems valid.

That they don't have a website doesn't change the fact that they've been reliably supplying eltrctricity to customers for years.

Chukwuka16:
Nice analysis by the way.

My major concern is lack of regulation. Commonsense will demand that before making such statements there is proper legislation that guides how such setup will work. Things like safety nets and technical constraints which are the more important considering how bad our safety record is. Furthermore how are clients going to connect? It can't obviously be the distribution grid owned by the discos since that will lead to immediate shut down if everyone is pushing electricity into it without some limits. Hope he is not imagining the road side kerosene seller kind of scenario for electricity. This is some dangerous issue that requires seriousness. For a compound that maybe okay but with generation getting to 500kW and beyond then there needs to be some control. Haba, even tie grid inverters are properly regulated in countries with feed in tariffs.

This is the problem of having triangular pegs in circular holes. Fashola obviously is overwhelmed by the power issue and is now firing blanks.
It appears the Minister is alluding to some amendment of the Power Reform Initiative.

The guidelines below are fairly comprehensive.

What's their full name without abbreviations and also their website..
They don't seem to have a website.

They generate power from 5 hydroelectric dams.

The reason they may have had the 'Nigeria' prefix may be owing to them being a pre-independence pre-CAC entity.

If you do a Google search you will come up with stats and history

NESCO power supply has been more consistent than NEPA/PHCN/DISCO

I can't guarantee you what today's supply is like but generally NESCO do 12-18 hours a day on the average.

Btw, NESCO is a government agency.

Nigerian Electricity Supply Corporation (Nigeria) Limited (NESCO)
It isn't a goverment agency. Don't get distracted by the Nigeria prefix

Politics › Re: Nigerians Can Now Buy And Sell Electricity (2 MW Minimum) - Fashola by three:
Nothing prevented this before now.

The Power act states that anything above 10MV must be pushed into the grid.

Which is why Lagos was able to do the Marina IPP that supplies public facilities (general hospital, state House, street lights etc).

This >10MV arrangement meant that as many people in say Gbagada and environs could be placed on one IPP.

Imagine several across Nigeria!

The ONLY challenge is that the distribution infrastructure belonged/belongs to the government (then) DISCO (now), so this arrangement is best for semi private estates like VGC that can deploy their own distribution infrastructure at scale.

[addition]

Imagine that Industrial estates are able to collocate power generation and therefore remove themselves from the National Grid for cheaper more predictable power (already happening in some places) and thus freeing up available generated power for others!

This people is why you usually have better power supply on holidays! The factories are usually down on holidays!

nmaihat:
I was surprised the teacher the not raise the defence of public officers protection Act. But then, I believe this case was swiftly decided and culprit punished because the Governor himself intervened. Remember, the post said the Governor assigned the case to the commissioner of justice. So such a person will not likely hide behind the provision of the Public Officers Protection Act.

Plus these days with more awareness being created it the social media, judges will be more careful in allowing a guilty go Scot free with the excuse of public officers protection Act unless of course the person is part of the upper class.
As you have implied it appears there was sufficient political will to prosecute. Also as you have mentioned the teacher appears to be less privileged (albeit obtuse).

So in this case, and as it should be all round when aggressors are found guilty, he was unable to hide behind POPA

Unfortunately there is little the Senate can do beyond writing the IG up on a Code of Conduct infringement which will first be processed by the Code of Conduct Bureau before being presented to the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

Now we know what sort of relationship the Senate has had with tee CCT Chairman

Beyond this, there's not much else that can be done (constitutionally),
