It’s Monday morning. A couple of guys and ladies in the office are discussing last weekend's champions' league final match with the boss. After that, they move on to analyze the presidential primary elections and end the discussions with analyzing the macroeconomic environment. “I wonder why they are wasting company’s time to discuss irrelevances”, Martha thought, pissed that they are not busy working like she is. What Martha does not know is that they are not discussing irrelevances, but actually networking and building relationships. When the next big opportunity comes, the boss will only remember those colleagues, and not her. They will be top on his mind. Don’t be a Martha today. |

From DM “I was 26 when I got married. Things were rosy for the first few months, but soon my in-laws' attitude towards me changed. They knew that I worked in advertising before marriage, but after they started saying that only ‘cheap women’ work in advertising and that as a married woman, I should adhere to the social etiquette of wealthy families and start a Kindergarten. Imagine this coming from a family of well-educated individuals! |

#REJECTION! Do you remember the last time you felt rejected? Was it a guy that never returned a phone call? Or father that who never came around? Was it a boss who overlooked you for a promotion? Or maybe someone in your life who never thought you were good enough no matter what you did to try to impress them? We all know #rejection hurts, it stings, it makes us feel as if we are not good enough, and it causes us to question ourselves and doubt our future. I can assure you that rejection is not something we should be afraid of. Rejection is our friend and not our enemy. Having been rejected so many times in my life, we can see rejection as a psychological projection, when you get rejected, it should be a motivation for you to work so hard for you to achieve your dreams. Your worth is not dependable on someone else inability to see what you are capable of, the more rejected I got from my path, the better I wanted to be. The challenge is when we get rejected we try to do whatever it takes for us to fit in and seek the approval of those who rejected us before. We feel comfortable when we get acceptance and appreciation even if it means doing the wrong thing. We don’t have to allow rejection to make us be who we are, we should view rejection as protection of something or someone who should not be in our lives. How did you handle that painful rejection you went through? Let us share in the comment section… |
... Calm down and listen.... Extra marital /pre marital sex ofcourse is discouraged, but we need to get to the root of what really disarmed Samson. Before that fateful day, Samson had sex partners in almost every city he's been to ( just as many today) Samson's fall was progressive but one thing destroyed him completely. Read on to find out….. All the mistakes Samson made prepared him by weakening him for that final fall. Remember: if you fall in the day of adversity, your strength is small. WHAT THEN HAPPENED TO SAMSON. The same mistake Eve made, by revealing to the serpent what God told them. Thrones are preserved by secrets. Kingdoms are secured by mysteries. Destiny is guarded by codes. The moment Eve gave serpent the secret, she handed the code of the garden to the enemy. There are covenant secrets you must defend with your life. God is God because of secrets, there are a lot we still don't know about God. Every nation has their secret service agency. There are offices, companies and ministries you can never work in, until you are initiated into their secrecy, to preserve their secret. Every destiny has a code and that's the secret of their success. Joseph made same mistake, when he revealed to his brothers more than they deserve to know at that moment. Stop talking too much. Stop talking to everybody. Stop talking about everything. There are things God tells you that are meant for you only. The damage the enemy couldn't do to Samson through sex, the moment he revealed his sacred covenant secret; they finished him. Nobody should know your covenant code with God. Preserve your spiritual ticket to Kingdom mysteries. He that dwells in the secret place... You cannot dwell in the secret place, until you are initiated into divine secrecy. When Paul was caught up into the third heaven, he said he heard things which are not permitted for man to say. If you have a leaking mouth, you are not qualified for power. PADLOCK YOUR MOUTH ! ! ! Dear Recruiter, Some candidates genuinely take time to apply and prepare for stages of interviews intelligently. In the course of which you are really impressed with what they tell you during these interview (candidates are also intelligent and they can read your body language to know that you seem impressed) and in some cases you have even expressed how impressive you think they are. Then the subject of salary expectation is brought up and all of a sudden they are not fit for the role? You’re not impressed with their abilities and what they can deliver? Instead of downplaying their intelligence or experiences because of what they think or know they’re worth, ask if they are open to a negotiation. It’s okay to admit that you can’t afford a Talent and if you can’t admit it, it’s okay to not make them feel stupid. |
If you are invited for a job interview, at the entrance of the gate or within the Organization's premises: 1.Politely greet everybody. I have seen MDs and Managers disguise and stand at the gate to observe interviewees. 2. Do not go inside and start charging your phone or begin to look for where to charge your phone. 3. Do not go inside and begin to chat with your phone or make unnecessary calls. Put the phone inside your bag. They could be monitoring you through the camera. 4. Avoid too much talk with fellow interviewees. Don't go there and begin to argue about Nigeria, APC, PDP, Tinubu, Atiku and Peter Obi. Just be calm and positive. 5. Don't start praying and speaking in tongues to demonstrate your religiosity and closeness to God. Pray at home before going. 6. If they offer you Tea or food, Please reject it politely and thank them. You can take after the interview. If you take that Tea or food, you are out. 7. Don't chew gum, biscuit or anything. Go with a book and be reading it. 8. Never ever criticise your previous employer. 9. If you see somebody you know in the Organization, either as a staff or a fellow interviewee, greet him officially. Avoid creating an impression that you know him. 10. Do not appear too Poor, helpless and inferior before the interviewer. Forget about Nigeria problems, your personal and family problems. Focus on the job. 11. After the interview, put up a smiling face, thank them and leave. In most cases, interviewers assess and score interviewees by the factors above and not necessarily by the answers they provide on paper. They'll train you eventually to do the job if they employ you. |

There’s this inhumane act and unfairness that I’ve noticed since I started product design. It is how people reach out to you disguising as recruiters, gives you task, you submit and never reach out again…. So, a certain guy posted an internship vacancy online which I applied for. Interestingly, the stipend on the job description became totally different from the amount he stated in the email he sent after I was done with the task(a responsive web app). I ought to have noticed the red flag here but I kept at it because I really needed to start working in a company in order to gain more experience by working with a team of designers and people from other fields. To cut the long story short, after 3 weeks or so he replied and said that he wouldn’t be going ahead with the job blah blah and he would refer me to people since I did extraordinarily well in the task. I took it in good faith and continued my life, then someone reached out with the same proposal that they need a product design intern and then gives me assignment. Funny enough, I began the assignment but along the line something dropped into my heart that I should check for the application name on App Store , I did and to my surprise the app is already live(the same way the previous app was live when the assignment was given) and that was where I got the gist that these guys reach out to designers, gives task to them, takes design inspirations from the assignments submitted and use it as new features for their apps then ghost them for life. Well, I told the guy to let me know how the interview session we had went and if he’s okay with my stipend proposal and my work ethics before the commencement of the assignment, guess what, he hasn’t replied since then. Design is not easy, and designers go through a lot to bring what they bring to the table. Most of us sleep by 4am and still wake up very early to be where we are today. Design task isn’t necessary as designers have portfolio which they can defend by walking you through it in case you need more assurance that they can do the job because by their fruits you shall know them. Do have a blessed weekend ay! ![]() #uidesign #productdesign #work #injustice |

QUESTIONS TO ASK AN INTERVIEWER. If at the end of the interview, the interviewer asks 'What questions do you have for me?' You can ask any of the following questions: ✓ What is the company culture like? ✓ What projects are you currently working on? ✓ What do I have to do to be successful in this company? ✓ What appeals to you the most about working for this company? ✓ Do you have learning and development plans for employees? ✓ How is performance appraised? ✓ Is this a new role? Or did someone vacate it? ✓ Is the company facing any current challenges? ✓ What are my prospects for growth in the organization? ✓ So far, is there anything about me that you'll need clarification on? If you researched something about the organization and you weren't asked during the interview, while asking them your question, you can ask yourself the question, answer it and then ask them your question. You sell yourself this way and it gives a positive impression you're interested in the organization. For example, let's say you read about the company's core values or current projects and the interview discussion didn't get there. You can ask your question this way: 1. Knowing that your core values are honesty and value for money. If a highly competent staff is found to be wasteful or dishonest, how will it be handled? 2. I read on your website about your ongoing projects and I know you're constructing Project XYZ. With the advent of the PIA, will the project be affected in any way? 3. Your company's vision is to be the most cost-effective operator in Nigeria. What projects and initiatives are you currently doing to achieve this? Can you see the technique? You first told them what you know about the organization, and elaborated a little about it before asking a related question. This enables you to stand out from other applicants. You are displaying knowledge and positively projecting yourself for success. You must ensure to have researched the organization before doing this. When preparing for interviews, always prepare to ask 1 or 2 questions. It shows you are interested in the organization and you took your time to research the organization. Good luck. Welcome to August, do have a productive week ahead. |

Simple tips that can help you manage your business better. - Record all your expenses: This include receipts, invoices, quotations and other paper-proof documents. - Anytime you receive funds from a customer or client through a corporate bank account, and the client requests for a part of full refund, ensure you return the funds using the same bank account/medium it was used to receive it. -Don't receive funds from into your corporate bank account from those you don't have business relationship with. Don't receive funds on peoples' behalf. - Track your business figures : This could be done either in soft or hard form. You can either input them on an excel sheet (soft form) or get a diary (hard copy). Remember, once it's not documented, then, it's considered not done. - Bank statements : Always ensure to put proper narrations after making any bank transfer. This should also apply anytime you're on the verge of issuing payment cheques for services rendered to your business. Just scribe some wordings on the cheque stub. Wordings like "Payment for Rent" and " Transfer for vehicle Licence " will give your accountant less stress during accounts reconciliation or preparation. - If your business is heavily cash based, you can inform your cashier to always tell the bulk teller at the bank to give proper narrations to all your transactions. Narrations like " Cash Sales for Monday 30/07/2020” and "Deposit from Uncle Oyewole of Ijora photography " would be helpful to your business The banks on their part should on work their USSD and other related payment platforms in order to make it possible for customers to insert narrations while effecting transfers.
