zeezeepearl: Pls gurus in the house kindly advise
I just got this email from my employer ''In relation to your Sponsorship application, as the hourly rate for your proposed role does not meet the criteria, we may be able to proceed if we can change your offer , whereby you work night shifts. Would this be suitable for you?
I am tired !
And I raised this issue last time during my AccessNI that the hourly pay was supposed to be 10.75 and not 10.70 and my manager said the annual salary is over 20,960 because I will be working 40hrs/week. I’ld advise you take the night offer so can proceed with the application. When you are finally in, maybe some few months after, you can have a word with your manager and hopefully you are able to switch to being a day staff. |

zeezeepearl: Baba, Have you gotten your CoS?
I asked my employer about recent update 2days ago, They sent me email that my dbs check is completed and sponsorship approval is pending
What does it mean? We still waiting and hoping. Sponsorship approval pending literally means they are still waiting for the home office to give them allocation. I believe they must have applied which is why they are waiting for it to be approved. |

groovvyy: Please o everybody. I have a quick question. I am kinda new to the whole thing.
The work start date on my Cos is April 22, 2024. Does it mean if I apply now and the Visa is granted, I will not be able to enter the UK before April 2024?
Secondly, is the Visa they're giving single or multiple entry? Because it is indicated on the cos that I don't need to leave and reenter the UK during the period of approval. The cos is for 5yrs 1. CoS usually have a 3 months expiry date. It must be used within 3 months when issued. 2. Also once you have been granted visa, the lastest you can start work is 28 days. However your employer can use the SMS to give reasons as to why there is a delay. I hope that April is not meant to be August. |

Focus99: I barely see people talk about Ireland and wales here. Discussion is always surrounding England and Scotland I will like to know why this is so. Don't we have Nigerians living in Wales and Ireland these two countries are also a part of UK.
Just sharing my thoughts because I really want to know more about Ireland and securing a graduate job their. Also I will like to know about their child care because I look forward to giving birth in the nearest future. I just need to know more and awaits my graduation.
Thank you guys. Northern Ireland |

AKALAMAGBO: Make una dey calm down Mr/Mrs Dependant… No be everything dem dey shook mouth to, especially wen you have no knowledge about stuff. I’m not your mate, mind how you address people on a forum… When they were discussing and arguing about UK politics, I maintained silence too.
On this topic, with picture attached ( 1 minor fault: appropriate speed ).
I’m a licensed driver and fully paid for 8 session of driving training. One session cost £55.
Failed my first driving test, paid for 1 more session and another practical driving test which I passed… Mr/Ms Agbo, that your license should be revoked if you are coming to nairaland to ask for the speed limit allowance on a motorway. Allowance ko Allawee ni You better go and book a “pass plus” training course so that you can improve your driving skills and become a more competent driver. And talking about mate, you need to be more specific so that I can know the angle you are coming from before I can give a response. |

Seynex01: That is if you are a residence but if you are a student you can drive with international driving permit for 12 months as it is written on their website. But unfortunately, the information there isn’t according to what the police follows, they follow strictly on been a uk residence not as a student. Which some people have been unfortunate with. Is a student not a resident? |

jurhnsyn: Please can I apply for visa past the start date on my CoS? The start date on my CoS is 31st of July and I don't have all the visa application requirements yet. I'm expecting ECCTIS outcome next week. Also maintenance was not ticked on my CoS and my 28 days POF wouldn't have matured before that date. Will there be issues if I apply after my start date? Just inform your employer to change the start date on your CoS. |

lightnlife: Interested in knowing what your friend did for the police to be involved and resulting in a court case.
I've chatted with a handful of Brits who drive without license (it's still illegal) but they say no one has even disturbed them. Police can stop you for the minutest of things. Police once stopped me because my rear plate was covered with dust which made it not to be visible enough. Why would I ever think I could get stopped for such. And of cos if any driving doc is found missing, it would probably lead to a court case. |

Can anybody explain how that particular Nigerian international license is to be used…
What is its usefulness or do they just use it to generate money from the ignorant ones.
We don’t even know how to identify the original from the fake. |

Not too late. I’m on the verge of leaving my current employment, I read this article and I can tell you that my current employer is guilty of the the points raised including that of substandard accommodation. Make I no just talk wetin people eyes dey see for this youkay.
Infact as I type this, I am being threatened to pay a sum of up to £8000 upon resignation very funny.
Even though I am a member of Unison which my employer has no clue about and I have a private employment lawyer, this article will open the eyes of a lot of care workers in this same situation and hopefully the government might be able to do something about it.
It’s better late than never |

taalas: When can one start counting the 18weeks? I was interviewed mid January. And was given an offer letter mid May. Though they hinted that Sponsorship can take up to 18 weeks that mid May. But upto now aside documentations and enhanced check, the HR tells me they are still waiting for the outcome of the sponsorship each time I ask. Up to 18 weeks from the time your company applied for CoS allocation from the home office. So just sit down, relax, pray and hope it comes out early because there is nothing you or your employer can do. Even if they try to apply for priority, it’s not certain as the home office grants only 60 requests daily. I believe you have an estimate of the number of companies in the UK that have sponsorship license. |
