Interesting that they don't hide the propellers. I guess they feel such info is already public.
In the future submarines will no longer have propellers, China is in the lead:

http://www.popsci.com/china-new-submarine-engine-revolutionize-underwater-warfare

They are also developing a warship/submarine/drone/catamaran ship the can stay submerged, fire over 500 missiles,... something along the lines of the US arsenal warship concept.

Tinfoil, why do you seem excited about attacks on KDF?
It's not that I am excited. KDF made press releases and lied about what happened saying, the base was not overrun, the number of KIA, ....

The troops are underpaid, bad leadership is condoned, ill quipped, and yet billions of $ are allocated to it.

Just trying to show what is really going on
Foreign AffairsRe: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Tinfoil: 3:05am On Jun 03, 2017
The kulbiyow attack video is out. In it you see that the KDF base was completely overrun. As soon as they are engaged KDF soldiers flee and most KIA in flight. Most of the equipment captured is seen in other videos been mounted with A A guns

.before tinfoil start posting alshabaab propaganda, yesterday alshabaab released a propaganda video .which featured the battle of Kulbiyow, it basically showed we have a force that is a failure and full of deception(only God protect us)
I take offense to that. Please stop. BTW it looks like KDF have requested new f16. I don't think it will be approved because it will make stronger than the rest of the region.

The reason there is a lot of defense procurement this year in Kenya is because it's an election year and the ruling president needs money to bribe voters

hehe You can never kill the spirit and enthusiasm of a conspiracy theorist, people will just find another loophole...Like for e.g. all the foreign military sales or aid given by the US government have been publicized from the go, immediately the tender notice was given... It took months or even years sometimes for oders to be delivered.. But for the case of this AH-1F there is virtually no information from any official source, those pictures are the only proof, it appears they are in Kenya already... So if it has been happening secretly since day one when they were ordered, Imagine what can happen with the Russians interms of secrecy, we wouldnt even know! haha

#JustATheory
It's not secret. The cobra is a huey; modified huey. Just like the mi24 is a modified mi8

I agree completely. They were designed before the arrival of ATGMs and are very vulnerable to them. When hit they light up in flames even with ERA. Just death traps for their crews.

Please let's focus on Africa.

You sir, are very naive. So because they have other issues, they should ignore securing their country and interest? haha, oh boy. Okay
I respectfully beg to differ. Serving its citizens is not a, "other issues," but it's core function. A well equipped police force is the only way it to secure Kenya. It does not have the budget for any other interests.

Like Uganda, having expensive arms is stupid. It's jets would only be useful for a single day. It does not manufacturer it's munitions and cannot afford to build up a magazine .

Having a strong economy is the best weapons.

Kenya’s military set for massive expansion, policy says

Kenya’s military is set for massive expansion in capacity and capability so as to place it in a better position to face other large militaries and protect the country in the event of a foreign attack, a new report has said.

The National Defence Policy, launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday, said Kenya should not lose focus of other large militaries within East African region.

“In the past, our forces and overall capacity has been small and fairly limited in scope. Increasing conflicts have compelled Kenya to review her ability to defend the nation against more threatening aspects of these conflicts. In response to these threats, our defence forces have to expand both in capacity and capability,” said the President while introducing the document.

He added: “Our military posture will remain defensive, however, should our nation be subjected to aggression, our forces should be able to deal with the aggressor decisively.”

The white paper, as the policy is referred to in military parlance, then delves into the security threats facing the country and the measures that should be set in motion in the event they escalate into full-blown conflict http://www.nation.co.ke/news/kenya-military-is-set-for-massive-expansion-policy-says/1056-3916870-vb6wmez/index.html
This is very sad. This is not what a country facing famine,, has a large population living in poverty, cannot feed itself, has massive unemployment, .... should be prioritizing to spend money on.

Kenya, all African countries, and most countries in the world are unable to wage total war and can only resist an attack from its peers for a few days.

The money being proposed here will most likely be stolen.

It would make sense if they were proposing to modernize, the police, pay them better so that can stop being corrupt, improve their living standards, build police stations, .... The biggest security threat for Kenya is internal

thats because KDF has very strict guidelines and rules about taking media of its operations, any pics or videos has to be approved before its released to the public ,you wont see any pics of soldiers posing or taking pictures using their own devices

thats why you will rarely see pics or videos of KDF operations ,
or of dead terrorists KDF has neutralized in fact they have a rule against releasing pictures of the dead
The reason KDF is very secretive is because the top brass use secrecy as a cover to hide their massive amount of corruption. That's why in a country of about 43 ethnic groups the military is dominated by one, the presidents, which make up close to 50% of the personel. And unlike western/ developed countries the generals are morbidly obese with huge fat guts because they don't even have the discipline to control their own eating

it was just a comedy A piece of trump theater, the usa informed the Russian well before the attack, the Syrians even removed most of their jets and material , The Russians follow the tomahawk attack from the bigining on their radars and did not activate their anti-aircraft missiles during the Idlib air strikes according to the cooperation accord between us and russia . and if you see damage on the air base a mortar could have done more damage , airfield was intact next day aicrafts and air base was operational again ! wink ( what a fail for 59 tomahawk (90 millions dollars )

in the other hand if russian air defense was nothing like you said , us would not have sent tomahawk (1,5 million the piece) from far but jet fighters wink , russian air defense systems are the best in the world ! by the American military theself confession , it s not some one like me and you that can say the opposite
That's just Russian government propaganda, this article explains it best:

oldies ..... SA-8B Gecko - air defense , algeria (48 systems were acquired in beginning 80s , upgraded and still in service )

The surveillance radar of the LAND ROLL "Sa-8" operates in the H band and has an effective range of around 30 kilometers against a typical target.
The tracking radar is of the pulsed type and it operates in the J band with a range of 20 to 25 kilometers.
The two I-band guidance radars make it possible to launch two missiles at the same target, each one responding to a different frequency to frustrate ECM.

Mounted on top of each missile guidance radar is an LLLTV/optical assist system for target tracking in low visibility and heavy ECM. LAND ROLL is also known to have a short-range target acquisition capability.

Optical alternative guidance. Since the SA-8 engages in close-in combat against tactical aircraft, optics are desirable for ECCM. This is a standard Soviet doctrine for most SAM systems. Performance envelop that ensures at least 5 to 7 kilometers or greater high PK range against close-in maneu vering targets. Very good low altitude capability. .........

In summary, the SA-8 represents a formidable air defense capability precisely tailored by the Soviets to fit the tactical requirement for rapid river crossing of assault forces as a matter of course. It is a potent addition to the battlefield, and it has no counterpart at present in the West. Western analysts would do well to reexamine their concepts of barriers and hasty river crossing, in view of the Soviet doctrine of assault river crossing as a matter of course and the appearance of numerous specialized systems, such as the SA-8.
As the recent cruise missile strike by the US on a Syrian air force base that was under the protection of Russian s400, buk and tor shows the Russian air defense system are nothing but overhyped pieces of expensive junk. Even Israel routinely penetrates it to strike the Syrian army.

Common. Helicopters perform better than each other it's a norm. However saying the MI-35 isn't a dedicated helicopter because it carries troops is wrong. Tell me one thing the Mi-28 will do and the mi-35 won't do. Armament etc.

I'm not helicopter person so I will love to hear nemesis2u opinion on this argument.

Let me it an intellectual argument please. We should avoid using insultive words. I know patches will Jump in soon.
I am sure the mi28 is more maneuverable then mi35 but the fact that it can carry troops and cargo to the frontline and then engage in combat makes is better in my opinion. Amisom and Somalia would benefit from getting some

CAS, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, Tells NTA News That Pres Buhari Shall Commission Some Of The "Most Sophisticated Helicopters" during the course of the NAF Week which commenced today with Jumaat prayers. Says they will be immediately deployed for combat ops.
I believe he is referring to the 2 units of Mi-35M and the 2 bell helicopters seized by customs.
Those Mi35 will be great for Nigeria, and Africa, although its an old design, basically a modified mi8 it can transport and fight, the only one in the world.
