Nok234: Patches Nigeria is the Giant of Africa : Economy, Population, sattelite Petroleum etc. Nigeria is the 4th strongest military in Africa... Why must people call Nigeria Geant of Africa is more on the economic aspect, talking military the biggest force in Africa is Egypt.. But only military doesnt make you Geant you need some of everything...
Please can this stop. Lets keep to pictures and videos, we are all on the same team - Africa.
lionel4power: Bio weapons falls under the Chemical Weapons Convention ( CWC ) . As of April 2016, 192 states have given their consent to be bound by the CWC. Israel has signed but not ratified the agreement, while three other UN member states (Egypt, North Korea and South Sudan) have neither signed nor acceded to the treaty.
. Most recently, Angola deposited its instrument of accession to the CWC on 16 September 2015.
. As of October 2016, about 93% of the world's declared stockpile of chemical weapons had been destroyed.
. if you use chemical or bio weapons on anybody the wrait of the UN that will fall on you will be so great that you would wish you used nukes instead. by the way weaponising it is as complex as developing nukes.
. also forget what we watch in movies, bio weapons are not usually fast acting, if you deploy a bio weapon today, before it spreads to alarming proportion could take months if not years. it cannot be used tactically.
I assure you that the same countries that created that convention are the ones that are CURRENTLY engaged in developing them at this time. Please don't tell me you are that naïve. Why do you think so many countries responded to the Ebola epidemic. Am sure you know how useless the UN is in reality it only applies to countries that don't have a vote in the security council.
lionel4power: Egypt, Algeria, South Africa can defend against ANY European country on their soil.
. anything short of using NUKES
I agree with that. But nukes are too complex and cost a lot.
How about a bio weapons. They are cheap to develop because there are a lot of commercial kits that are easily available, there are a lot of diseases in Africa that non Africans have no natural immunity to, you don't have to directly attack a target country because the bioweapon can be unleashed on the neighboring country and would still be effective,..... I was thinking of something like smallpoxes' African cousin monkeypox because if weaponized it would be lethal like smallpox >90% death rate and is species jumping and would kill also livestock
lionel4power: Showdown! you guys should stop this bickering.
Those guys comparing Iraqi airforce with the COALITION during the Operation DEsert Storm should understand that Saddam Hussein while fearing his Airforce (because the Iraqi Airforce has a history of disobedience and rebellion) told them to bury their jets or send them over to Iran. HE WARNED THEM NOT TO FIGHT, BELIEVING THAT THE US CIA HAS BRIBED THEM
Personally I believe that the iraqis could really hurt the Coalition if they wanted to, as of then the Iraq military was the best in middle east and some of Europe.
ANYWAY MOVING ON... . . we all know that NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES AND THE SOUTH AFRICAN ARMED FORCES ARE HIGHLY EQUIPPED FOR THEIR CURRENT THREATS.
South africa is burdened with having the busiest sealanes in the world so as such she requires real naval muscles vis her frigates.
.
Nigeria is saddled with pirates in her coast so she has sufficient OPVs as required.
. THE PROBLEM IN YOUR ARGUMENT IS THAT YOU GUYS ARENT ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTION.
. What about tomorrows crises or conflict?
. YES NIGERIA has enough systems to cover todays war marginally what about TOMORROW?
. our south african brothers has enough firepower to quench any threat now and tomorrow. that is a forward way of thinking it shows sound planning.
. both our armed forces took an oath to protect our countries constitution and integrity from both EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL THREATS. the difference between us and the south africans, algerians, morrocans, egyptian, sudanese, tunisians is that THEY WENT FURTHER TO REINFORCE THEIR DEFENCE While we feel comfortable to sit and dwell in our current posture.
SOME people here feels like they are more 'patriotic' than others forgetting that 'patriotism' cannot be quantified. at the end of the day whether GOOD or BAD its on us.
. THERES ALWAYS 3 SIDES TO A STORY; YOUR SIDE, MY SIDE AND THE TRUTH.
Does anyone have any opinion on whether any African country can either deter or defend itself from aggression from a first world country?Like one from Europe?

Africaken you are very prolific on here, have you ever considered having your own site, journal, channel. You can make a lot of money on sites like facebook, youtube, snapchat,....
It's strange that the so-called free and intelligent Africans flood the EU, US, Australia and South Africa in search of a better life. Millions of Africans would rather be refugees in South African slums while begging for petty jobs not even poor South Africans want THAN to be free in their own ancestry land.
Your civil wars, starvation and lack of development are a shining example of your intellect.
Typical example of what a white supremacist thinking. Africa is still emerging from the yoke colonialism and the birth pangs of freedom are painful. Japan is for Japanese, China Chinese and South Africa for Africans not boers
When an African child is starving and has malnutrition, what does Africa do? NOTHING. You keep talking about how much talent Africa has and on, it's useless because Africa is the world's poorest and least progressive content. I say it in your face, your so-called African intellect is a joke.
The Western money has saved plenty of African children who would have eventually died while your so-called talent tells you to do nothing.... Bro, you're displaying the same mindset that Thabo Mbeki had and caused South Africa to have 2 million AIDS orphans.
Just because you haven't witnessed it does not mean that Africa does not help itself, there are many who individuals and in societies provide charity. The main problem in South Africa is that it is still suffering from the after shocks of apartheid where its Black citizens were herded into concentration camps, forcefully disposed of their land, raped, murdered,... Which makes them susceptible to AIDS and other poverty induced problems. The time cannot come fast enough when land is appropriated from the white land owing class and redistributed to back to its ancestral Black owners
ActivateKruger: I have worked with NGOs for many different kinds of projects. The NGOs would either be local or foreign based... In South Africa, foreign NGOs collaborate with the local ones to bring tangible results on the ground.
If an NGO builds 20 houses for pensioners in a rural area using local material. How is that tampering with self-sufficiency? Would the pensioners miraculously build their own houses at their age? We have examples with orphans, health (which South Africa gets plenty of), even the city of Pretoria gets some US funding to supply free WiFi to Pretorians... How's that crippling self-sufficiency when they're actually helping the Municipality to deliver a service.
In the case of foreign food being supplied to drought victims. Do you honestly think Africa has food in surplus to buy from other parts then supply others. Did you know that even South Africa struggles to supply itself with maize in a case of droughts, how do you think they'll supply the rest of the maize-meal eating SADC facing the same droughts?
NGOs operate in Africa in such large numbers because the local governments can't provide even basic services to its citizens.
I have also worked and talked to people in the west who run NGOs, some to whom the NGOs basically as a source of income. One young lady I met had an advanced degree but was unable to get jobs in their fields in the west and resorted to starting an NGO and I told her of individual Africans who have come to the west gotten and education in her field and are thriving and prosperous while her with all the advantages she grew up with was unable to do as much. I urged her to help the poor in her country rather than try and go teach Africans because they are able to make the best decisions to lift themselves out of poverty if given an opportunity.
Food/Clothing Aid has destroyed small-scale farmers and textile markets.
Drought and natural disaster usually help in development,
Take drought for example: good/clever farmers are often in a better position than others during a time of crisis. Hence can sell their wares at higher prices (decrease in supply, increase in demand), thus they generate more capital. Because the drought has slaughtered the competition, and killed people themselves you now have an increased supply of land and a decreased demand to occupy it. Hence these surviving farmers are able to use the capital they generated earlier to buy the land of the farmers who have failed... expanding their operation, increasing their output and thus the cycle starts over - they generate more capital and use the capital to aquire more land to generate more capital. In a couple generations large scale commercial farms (though lacking sophistication) begin to arise.
Food aid destroys this natural cycle.
[PS: Look into the ANC's drought relief from last year and see if you can figure out what they are doing.]
The European renaissance, for example, was only possible because of the Black Death.
Patchesagain I love you bro, thank you for understanding. Rather than buy relief food from the region, enabling small scale farmers to have money to invest in irrigation, expand,... NGOs dump free food in a region, putting small scale farmers out of business; turning them into beggars. They cant even afford to grow food for themselves, ensures another drought next planting season.
Most NGOs would rather have Africa poor and uneducated because if not they would go out of business, rather than build capacity, enabling Africans to help themselves they actively conspire to have them remain poor even though this is mostly unintentional. I can give an in-depth explanation of what I am thinking but don't want to type a multiple page long post. This is a photo and video forum only.
Please lets stop the chit chat, that's you Africaken.
LTGEN: Tinfoil you are out of your depth in discussing Boko Haram you should stick to East Africa and All Shaban In all of Boko Haram videos they have never mentioned poverty nor have thousands of captured or former fighters , what has been mentioned repeatedly is an ideology of a twisted version of Islam. The very few areas of no man's land that they operate in is not by Nigerian standards poverty-stricken . That would be in Zamfara State and Boko Haram does not exist there, the last female bomber that was caught was given a mere N200 before she reneged. Lack of political will, at state, Federal and Military level brought BH to the fore front followed by an over zealous police caused bh to rise from nothing. BH can maybe mount a few attacks on soft targets but they are finished as a military force.
That is exactly my point, what you call, " a twisted version of Islam," is actually in itself Islam. The same thing in E. Africa, it is impossible to defeat a religion, it might seem to as if they are defeated but am sure they are far from it. Why keep fighting for decades if you don't have to? The problem is fueled by bad governance. Any kind of military solution will be fanning the embers of a fire that will require a lot of blood to quell.
I think that I more and more Understand US policy, we have to stop this and strick those groups before they enter in our country, now we have the brotherhood from ... All of this look like a world war ... Nigeria must let the saoudis with all they toys and countries that are ready to sell them everything they want I dont see any strategy going there, for we must attack groups in Mali, Lybia, Egypte, and Somalia & be very careful with two country Soudan&Iran What do you think ?
It makes me sad to see Nigeria and Amisom countries spend billions on their militaries while trying to defeat haram and shabab. Unfortunatly haram and shabab CANNOT be defeated militarily. There are 2 ways these two groups can be destroyed completely, and in less than 5 years:
1. Enabling the communities in which they have a support base to make a living; thrive; by paying them a wage to have them invest their labor in public works in their communities like building schools, roads, sanitation,... Ban all NGOs, their handouts kill self-sufficiency. 2.Equiping, paying an above average salary, and giving proper living conditions to the police in the base communities.
Henry24o: I'm glad this whole thing was a propaganda fail. African militaries need to understand that propaganda has a 50% input in the war victory itself.
Releasing statements on paper like the Soviets no longer cut it. This isn't 1970. Even the Russians no longer do that crap, they are now pushing as much military propaganda as the Europeans. Not yet on the level of the Americans though, those guys are playing in a much higher league of their own.
There's a KDF soldier with a giant digital camera, what's he doing with it? Photos should be released atleast on a weekly basis and after engagements with the enemy.
They did the same thing after el adde, walk around after the fact, but as the video will show there was even a lot of equipment captured, as they say, its all in the pudding
Kulbiyow attack on kdf video available by PM, on request, in it you see that the press releases are lies. Kenya needs to either upgrade and reequip kdf or withdraw. Because of the cost the later will be the best option.
Brightwood: TRUMP DOESNT GIVE A FVCK ABOUT AFRICAN Politics...The US might support it but on a much smaller scale....Have you been paying attention to the world around you...It's becoming more segregated and Isolationist, GB voted out of the EU, USA Appointed a man with extreme Isolationism as President, Every country is becoming less and less interested in world politics...Invade Zimbabwe, Nigeria will drop the stick harder than you can imagine.

Fidha254: Kenya-Somalia Border wall turned fence progress - evetually to include watch towers, FLIR cameras, ground radar, barbed wire, a patrol road along the fence, and hopefully some parmanent paramilitary and army bases along the 700km stretch
They are only building it for 30km of the 700km long border which makes it useless
Propaganda! if it really happened why don't they put out a video , even if its of the aftermath. Your an idiot if you believe Kenya government press releases are credible. Looks like it is a boiler plate press release, that's why the date is filled in with an ink pen

africaken254: AlShabaab has released a video showing the execution of Ugandan captive in addition to footage of some of its attacks in Kenya
As I had said they would when I first posted his video earlier, we all know what will happen to the captives. Police stations are to be targeted as the cells are independent: need to replenish ammo, do not have wall, barriers, or any kind of fortifications, anyone can walk though without being searched,....
