What you should consider bringing back is the mini profile badge so we can easily differentiate newbie posters from old forum members or any other technique to differentiate seniors members from 15 year olds who seem to have taken over Nairaland!

Business / Accepting Payment For Online Services In Nigeria by tinkinfela(m): 10:52pm On Sep 06, 2013
Hi everyone!

What is the best and easiest way to accept payment for online services in Nigeria. We're developing an application whereby each user would have a unique id, and once they pay a certain subscription fee. The id would allow them access to our online services. We've both been away from Nigeria for several years and lacking ideas in the aspect. Subscription fees ranges from N500 to N5000.

obviously there is bank transfer/payment whereby users includes their unique id in the payment information so we can subsequently active their subscription for the period paid for.

We've also heard about mobile money but we can't really get our head around it yet. We also want to try and avoid credit card payment as it might limit the audience scope and then there is trust issues.

Any ideas?

Investment / Zenith Bank Fixed Deposit Interest Rate by tinkinfela(m): 1:47am On Apr 19, 2013
I wrote Zenith bank to ask about their fixed deposit interest rate and got this response.

Fixed deposit rates:

TENOR AMOUNT RATE PER ANNUM
30DAYS 1M 4%
60DAYS 1M 4%
90DAYS 1M 3.25%

Someone please confirm if this is standard rate or there are far better rate elsewhere or maybe I should try to negotiate for more?

Anyone who believe it's her is a really big i.diot and should be shot.
Just can't believe how easy is it to spread false rumors in Nigeria. If that was Obama saying that on twitter, I bet a larger number of Nigerians would believe it.

What if I get scholarship to study in UK?
Education / Is A UK Degree Worth It? by tinkinfela(m): 11:17am On Mar 22, 2013
I currently live in Sweden and will be completing my bachelor degree this year (Computer science field).

Sweden is actually ranked as one the most technological innovative countries in the world but I don't know for sure if Nigerian employers would value it. Anyways,I'm considering complementing it with a UK masters degree not minding shelling the large sum of money, compared to the free education in Sweden. Also, masters programmes in Sweden is 2 years, while UK is mostly 1 year.

Ovasabi too dey worry Nigerians...so because some of you browse facebook, youtube etc, you know Internet?

Categorically, he is correct lol, internet is simply bunch of websites/computers interconnected together. Saying I'm browsing the Internet simply means I'm browsing websites or other resources on the www.

Him saying "internets designed for fraud" is absolutely correct. In other words, network of websites/computers designed for fraud. That's all

Business / Re: Best Way To Transfer Money To Nigeria by tinkinfela(m): 2:56pm On Nov 23, 2012
Depends on how much is being sent.. To send $100 probably would cost you $25 or $30 .. fees are normally around 15 to 20 percent of total amount being sent.
Is there any other way besides bank transfer?
Business / Best Way To Transfer Money To Nigeria by tinkinfela(m): 9:46pm On Nov 21, 2012
Hi guys,
What is the best way to transfer hard earned money from abroad to Nigeria?
I've been using Western union to transfer to a family member who then pays it into my bank account and it's costing me a fortune.
I have no to plans to travel to Nigeria in the foreseeable future so not interested in saving it up until then.
Also, I live in Sweden. What are other available options? I have an account with Zenith bank.
Thanks

To be honest, I don't see anything wrong with this. Is English your native language? We've been learning and speaking english for centuries.. what has the so-called English people/world done for you?

China is advancing in terms of technology and innovation, maybe our scholars could actually gain something from them. Also, I remember learning French in school even though I absolutely have no use for it.

What is happening to our web developers?

Why are you guys allowing foreigners from SA, Kenya and even Rwanda to take over the IT/ecommerce industry.

Besides Nairaland and Naijapal, we can't boast of one successful platform. Instead of Seun rebranding Nairalist he backed down to trade-stable, dealfish and the rest.

Kasuwa, sabuna .. I checked all these site out and they are either from Kenya or South Africa..

And you wonder why Nigeria is in its present state... People are so fast to criticize someone with honest intention to make change in the country!

I remember how much impact Ribadu made when he was EFCC chairman to the extent corrupt Governors, Senators were terrified by this guy. Billions of Naira retrieved.. I remember what IG of Police when through after he was busted with N11 billion.

The truth is most Nigerians prefer to keep suffering and smiling. There will never be change until we cleanse all you ignorant losers. Thank God I'm no longer living in Nigeria. I just can't stand some of you.
