Sagamite:
Lets not confuse issues.

The President can party with whoever he wants to party with (within reason), I am not going to condemn him on that. GEJ can go to anybody's son's wedding etc.

But when a PRESIDENT wants to motivate or encourage his people especially the impressionable youths that are the key audience of BB and on facebook, it is SENSIBLE to carefully select the quality and activities he uses to motivate them.

What the hell do our youths gain from watching BB?

There are tons of other things GEJ can praise if he is adept at symbolic and motivational leadership than some cheap camera TV show that adds NO VALUE!

I have nothing against Uti. Man gass to chop!
what the hell do our youths gain by watching football?

lol. Guy, you cannot determine how people live thier lives. GEJ is the President of everybody and has decided to identify with that clique who sees victory for Nigeria in BBM

read netotse's recent post and you'll get an idea of what it is all about

to me, its a waste of time ; ill rather watch football which to my babe is a waste of time too grin grin grin grin

What a bloody waste of time.

Is Jonathan sane?

What is the achievement of being in Big Brother House?
what is wrong with you?

first off, i lambasted people who made so much about Utis 200k largess on facebook cos to me, the noise was deafening and diversionary. (i didnt see the show throughout the 3 months it was on air)

If the President of a country sends a mssg to another Nigerian cos he won a TV reality show that has huge followership, then what is wrong in it. If Obama can leave the white house to go party in lebron's house, then i dont see anythn wrong in what GEJ did.

Your response on Obamas visit to Lebrons house is watery and one sided. Basketball has its followers while some people dont see anythn good in the game. Same goes for Football. Some would admonish a President for going to the stadium to see a football game while some would hail him. Same thing applies to BBM with its huge followership across Africa.

He has decided to identify with the show by sending the mssg so i see nothing wrong in this. If a game of basketball is a sport and a means of livelihood, then maybe reality show bizniz has come to stay for some people.  The show is gonna pay Uti's bills same way basketball pays lebron's bill so bro cut this ur aggro on GEJ abeg

wealth re-distribution is quite possible at this stage, why should a cleaner be earning less than 1,000 naira a month?. . .i frankly believe the the country should start moving into the the hourly pay rates and enforce reasonable minimum wage levels.
i agree with you

the insincerity of our leaders is the reason why we have a huge gap between some classes of workers in the country. If the country is poor, then let it reflect across all strata

why should a senator earn above 250million a year and a teacher earns 15k a month

i dont think laws/regulation and the issue of credit is material enough to pose any problem to the manufacturing sector

as it is, nothing is on the cards but if we get our priorities right, whatever needs to be done would be fixed

As for the SMEs, its still the same problem. No banks would give you money if they know they business isnt gonna fly or they risk losing the investment

The SMEs are suffering the same fate our manufacturing coys are suffering so we all have chorused, as soon as our infrastructures are fixed, the puzzles would fit in one by one

wealth creation is the combination of materials, labour, land, and technology in such a way as to capture a profit, this is quite possible provided appropriate infrastructure is in place, most importantly energy source!

job creation doesn't necessarily explain itself, a job can be voluntary, not for profit, etc etc. .i doubt many Nigerians are looking for voluntary jobs at the moment
grin grin grin grin
i know what wealth creation means

what i was trying to say is this

I cannot be bought into a wealth creation slogan when all infrastructures are down. at our level, ill buy into a job creation module first to stabilise things and when we get ourselves together, then all these fantasies of wealth creation and wealth re-distribution would be easily attainable.

How do you create wealth when all the factors of production are in a state of coma cheesy grin

The only reason the manufacturing sector contributes zilch is cos of the deplorable state of our infrastructures

If we have the roads as wide as the roads in new york, if electricity runs 365 days a year without glitches, if other social overheads are provided then we are marching on to eldorado

an average man in the scenerio i described above (utopia) would manufacture than import cos it would be more expensive to import compared to when you make it locally

If you look at a typical manufacturing plant in 9ja, the EBITDA is usally less than 10% sometimes 5%
why? cos of overheads!!!!!!!!!!!!

kill the costs they incur and we'll be great before our very eyes

If anybody tells me hes on a wealth creation campaign, ill tell him he hasnt said anythn

i can flow with job creation, at least it explains itself
PoliticsRe: Submit Your Suggestion To The Fg Job Creation Committee by tkb417(m): 10:35am On Oct 19, 2010
Before Government apply those heavy duties they should first of all try to assemble those importers and encourage them to go into local manufacturing with the right incenctives. As you have pointed out they should also ensure they do something about energy cost.

There is no point putting merchants out of work through heavy duties and yet there is no alternative and credible local manufacturer for the same goods. This simply increases unemployment and also unnecessarily increases the cost of goods. The Traders and merchants are Nigerians too.
my thoughts too

We shd be able to substitute our imports for locally made goods. If we can achieve this even up to 70% level, we'll be fine

And by the way a job or wealth creation idea is a resource in itself. I doubt anybody with a serious idea will post it on the internet and wait to be invited to come and do something with it.  That is why I ask that question.

Is there a better way to ensure what they are trying to do is more successful? Thats why it is necessary to have this conversation. We may be in the politics section but not everything is about politics you know?
so how do you think we can help them?

as for me, we can only make meaningful impact in that regard if we strive to go industrial

are we ready to be a producing nation? are we ready to diversify the economy from Oil, are we ready to go green. Lets start by producing all we eat in this country. If we can provide food for 150million people without going back importation, then we are on track

aren't we still going about in circles?

you can't create a million jobs when the manufacturing sector is dead!. . .the service industry is already overworked!

and to fix the manufacturing sector, you need to address the issues of power and safety concerns, also, heavy duties should be placed on imported goods that are readily available locally

im sure the reason Dangote was chosen is because hes a champion in the real sector in the country

the last time i heard, the people on his payroll are already bigger than Coca Colas. If he feels hearing from those who think they know would help him align his thoughts and vision for the unemployed in the country, then lets send our submissions. we can only hope we get it right

we expect him to comment on the international criminalities of our fifa representative before talking abt big brother africa.
somebody is saying jonathan is not writing all these, what do u think abt that? deciet or lies to his own ppl?

@tbk47,
we have things that deserve more attention than this facebook. what has jonathan to say on the issue of adamu and fifa?

Mode9 gets more malicious haters than most.

I see nothing wrong with the video. For those who don't know, Mode9 regularly uploads his videos on youtube so fans can get access to even the minutest details. This video is just one of many, and his fans appreciate it. Even the stuff about staying in hotel in London is not boasting (who would boast about Holiday Inn?). Its just in keeping with his all-access style that he gives his fans? Why would Mode9 who grew up in London be boasting about going to London.

My only advice is just to ignore the haters rather than give them time of day cos its only gonna escalate if you pay haters any attention
is it about videos on youtube or what he said in the video
