hello, what does it mean when ur swift available balance is in negative or it says you have used 10.1GB when ure on a 10 gb plan. does it mean the debit will roll over to my next renewal? |
we all knew or thought blackberry was doomed, but that was last year. it's 2013 now and blackberry(not RIM anymore) finally launched their last gasp attempt at staying alive which is the completely revamped OS, Blackberry OS 10. It's been 3 months now, so what do you guys think about their latest project. Have they done enough to make you consider their z10 over the soon to be released Galaxy S4? or is it too little too late?? |
hello im also working on this same problem on my neighbour's tab. first of all lets clarify the 3 storage locations on android devices 1.system storage.. usually very small (about 155mb in our case) 2. internal mass storage.. this is the main mass storage for apps that is built in 4gb in our case 3. external sd card.. this is the normal off the shelf mem. card that u insert by the side coming from an htc desire which had very limited system storage and no internal mass storage, ive learnt some things about moving apps to sd etc ...moving to external micro sd card... for performance reasons, android apps were designed to stay on the system storage because its much faster than ext sd card. after a lot of pressure google added the ability to move apps to the sd. but only partially. so for example, you move a 10mb app to sd but only about 7mb of it actually gets moved. the remaining 3mb occupies your limited system storage. its done this way in ordeer to limit the drop in speed. sd cards are slow so only the less frequently used data gets moved to it (the 7mb) ...internal mass storage... finally phone manufacturers started having sense and started to put large enough storage on their phones(8gb,16gb,32gb etc) but this is shown on android as a separate storage drive from the system storage. thankfully, since this was internal and not like the removable sd cards, it did not suffer from the speed issue so u can move apps in whole (the whole 10mb in the e.g above) to it. ...what ive noticed.. in the storage section under the settings. the joypad lists internal storage, internal sd card (instead of internal usb storage as it is usally called on other android phones), and external sd card also the size of 'this internal sd card' is 4 gb which is odd. its always either 1 gb or multiples of 8gb(16,32,64,etc) on all phones i know of again, if use the move to sd option on the app info screen with a micro sd card inserted, it keeps moving to the internal mass storage and does not touch the actual micro sd card. (on other android phones/tablets there are usually two options; move to usb storage and move to sd card but for some reason the joypad only offers the latter). also it does the partial moving thing (that i explained above) for internal mass storage which is supposed to happen only for the slower external sd cards. another odd thing if you go to apps under settings and choose preffered install location, there are only 2 options, internal device storage(system storage) and removable sd card. conclusion this leads me to believe that the 4gb internal storage in our joypads is mounted/seen by the os as an external sd card for some reason, or maybe it is an actual sd card that is just housed inside the device rendering it unremovable. why would they do this? maybe because sd cards are cheaper, and we all know the joypad is a cheap tab so compromises have to be made. it's probably just poor coding. maybe the os was not installed in a way that it would read the internal mass storage properly instead of thinking its an sd card. I have no idea the solution two things you can do . manage the limited system storage and install only a few apps at a time you can use astro app backup to backup the ones you dont need at the moment and install them later without having to download all over again root the tab. parition the sd card and run the a2sd hack that allows you to move apps in whole to your ext sd card. link2sd also does basically the same thing. youll be able to install a bazillion apps but theyll run very very very slowly and the rooting process might ruffle your feathers if youre not very computer savvy. |
My phone is not rooted and none of these methods worked. The droid vpn app, contrary to what you said requires root. GAE proxy mentioned root on their google play page but still managed to run on my phone. However no bis. Did you actually try these things out before writing the tutorial?? |
that's messed up. how can someone still come here to defend etisalat. the original text didn't say all the airtime would be cleared by Sunday. well I guess this is one of their plans to make their money back after the ncc fine. its we the consumers that'll suffer it |

I think you should search for the true meaning of hacking and clear all the misconceptions created by movies and the media. what you are talking about is better referred to as cracking (the illegal, immoral one) that did not originate in Nigeria by the way. nigerians should learn to read. its funny when two ignorant people are fighting |

yes its true that androuids are more powerful than bbs but not everyone needs a supercar. not everyone can afford supercar fuel (data cost) . I used to think bis was expensive but compared to what I pay on my Droid. its very very cheap. also bbs still handle Push email and notifications better than any other device out there. again, I still haven't found any substitute to bbm. yes there's whatsapp nimbuzz etc but none of them are always on like bbm.bbm can almost completely replace calling and testing cuz everyone is on it and u can be sure that the person u want to talk to at any point in time will be online.. so far they have a subscription. I'm not even a bbm user yet I can list all these advantages. so before you go insulting whoever u pass by carrying a bb you should keep in mind that some nigerians are smart and know what's good for them so they considered all these things before buying their phone. however as for the ones that keep toting their expensive bbs bcuz they believe that it makes them a big boy or big girl.. you're free to abuse. a lot of iPhone users also fall into this category its annoying the rate at which bb porches are being sold. the bottom line is that everyone is different. because Android works for you (and me too), you don't have to force it down everyone else's throat some people want a powerful device with all the apps, some people want data efficiency while some people just want a fashion accessory |
uhh.. isn't this thread supposed to be about the sgs3? .I think we should be able to ignore trolls when we see one. let's get on with the discussion and let the icult members go and suck Steve jobs/Tim cooks balls on their own thread. some nice features I'm looking forward to are the eye tracking and video pop up. |
camscanner and mobile Ocr ull find them both useful |
@smooth278(I'm guessing you're texazzpete) you're seriously talking off point, you're evading questions i posed to you and contradicting yourself(if ure texaspete) .I talked about how apps can talk to each other and the os in android, i specifically said in advance that i knew sns integration had become more prevalent but it was only one of the examples, yet you still mention twitter integration. what do you think i meant by sns integration can't u read . I gave examples of third party apps. twitter comes wit d iphone as a result of d apple/iphone partnership. its not a third party app that you install separately. when did malware even come into the picture. don't let me get started with that I said videocalling isn't supported on the iphone and your answer is that it is not that popular in nigeria, huh??. u really couldnt come up with a better excuse?? you mention htc one x and galaxy nexus not having mem. card expansion yet those are just two phones out of the 100s of androids out there. android gives you choice. why can't apple do the same. Smooth278: Can you kindly show me where I said 'bluetooth is outdated'?are you not the same person that said texazzpete: I cannot think of anybody I know who still goes around transferring music via bluetooth. We did that stuff when we were still kids in the University.and texazzpete: Dude, this is 2012. I cannot remember when last I ever thought about doing a file transfer via bluetooth. If you don't have a data plan to enable you send your files by email, why are you using a smartphone?see how you contradict yourself so easily?? i'll just assume you're not in the right frame of mind right now or you were rushing when you typed this. i can't think of any other explanation. Smooth278: iOS 4 was released around the same time as Android Froyo. Can you truly compare the buggy, laggy Froyo to iOS 4? At least that was 2010...iOS has been hardware GPU accelerated since 2007. Android did not get true GPU acceleration until ICS. What took them so long?i asked you about multitasking. you're talking about gpu acceleration. Off point once again. u have no point there because there was no need for gpu acceleration. you're the only one that knows which android used to lag Smooth278: Is there any, sober explanation for why in a discussion about iPhones you're posting a scaremongering article about the third generation iPad?I was hilighting apple's general poor hardware |
First of all i wasn't comparing the n97 to the i phone.you were the one that asked me what it was capable of without PC suite and i answered you accordingly. Luckki1001: Please, exactly what is the "innovation and functionality" that the iphone is not capable of? Like I pointed out in my post, I wasn't here to brag about the iphone. I just tried to correct the errors in some people's post. But like I said, I want to know exactly what Android phones are capable of, this special functionality and innovation, that the iphone does not do? Abeg tell me.if you read my previous post, the app examples i mentioned and the video above I'm sure your question would be answered so you know jail breaking is legal yet you're precious apple us constantly churning out software updates to prevent you from doing something that is your right. Thats when you know you're truly a prisoner. Happy prison breaking |
That article and the video have just buttressed my point on jailbreaking ios and rooting android.it'll be vexing if someone still comes on here saying a jailbroken iphone is on par with android |
@lucki1001 after paying over 100k for a phone, having to jailbreak, lose your warranty, put your phone at risk etc just to get a basic feature that even s40 phones have is ridiculous.. You never had to jailbreak/root a symbian device to get all these functions.. The only reason for hackin a symbian device was to install unsigned apps. Nothin else. You keep comparin jailbreaking the iphone to rootin an android. Yet a ''jailbreaked'' iphone will only just manage to do things an android will do right out of the box. A jailbroken iphone will not even come near the power, functionality and flexibility of a rooted android. Furthermore, unlike ios manufacturers have started encouraging hacking androids with unlocked bootloaders and the likes.... Having to go and open a separate app just to beam a file over BT is ridiculous. Also having to install countless apps to get basic functionality from your phone only stresses the deficiency of the iOS platform I repeat the iphone does not truly multitask properly. What it gives you is similar to the multitasking on some sony ericsson feature phones back then eg k608i nd sum fnes in the walkman series in my previous post above I hilighted some apps that need proper multitasking which is not possible with the iphone.. If you don't have an iphone to see this 4 urself, go read reviews. Its clearly mentioned as one of the cons of iOS... Even on the old n97, without pc suite you could at least, transfer files btw phone and pc, use the phone as flash drive with mass storage mode share your fones 3g connection wit d pc, there was even media transfer mode to help you sync all your windows media player tracks and playlist with just one click etc Yes , all that without pc suite. That's what you call connectivity.. Now reply to that. Nowadays smartphones are expected to be able to replace PCs to some extent.. The plain truth is that the iphone fails woefully in that respect. That's why I said if you're looking for a device with an attractive ui, media capabilities, the chance to play with endless apps, and a nice fashion accessory, you're better off with an iphone. But if you want a real smartphone that does not hold back on innovation and functionality, and makes ur pc a superfluous item, the iphone is not likely to cut it for you |

Looks like my previous post just became invisible to texazzpete. just what you'd expect from an apple fanboy |
texazzpete: Please learn how to quote posts properly before I bother responding to you. While I scanned through your long submission and found the usual, ignorant drivel I expected, I cannot do justice to it until you modify it.pussy :p |
the iphone is also greatly limited in terms of functionality. Beyond the nicely polished looks, great ui and all, there isn't much you can actually do with an iphone. Some of the common features absent on iphones but present on androids, or any other platform for that matter are Bluetooth file transfer, 3g video calling(not facetime, which uses your data and is only iphone to iphone) memory card usb otg, multitasking(this used to be the basis for differentiating a smartphone from others until even feature phones started having it) hdmi, file management, the only way you can access your files is through and photos app and music player themes java support .zip folder support flash, multitasking, much better cameras, ability to save web pages(hard to believe right?), fm radio, sum phones eg N8 even have fm transmitter i.e the phone becomes the radio station no connectivity with pc, without itunes suppport for divx and many other video and music formats Also because of the freedom developers have when writing apps for android you get more brilliant apps with infinite possibilities. The list is endless Apple is also notorious for their poor hardware with antenna issues over heating easily breakable screens etc But if you're content with calling, messaging, photo/music playing and playing with endless apps then you're iphone but if you want the full power of a smartphone with no limitations, full customisation and more value for your money then you're android Choose your sides and let the smartphone wars wage on |
first of all, no matter what you do don't by the e5 over the e6. The e5 runs s60 and is already being phased out. you won't recieve any software updates or new apps. Even after 2 weeks of buying the phone it'll start to feel outdated. The e6 runs symbian^3, and you can be sure you'll definitely be covered in terms of support. It's also a fa supeior OS. About the screen even though it's not that large, it has a very high resolution Which means small text shouldn't be much of a problem. It's pixel density is even higher than that of the glorified retina display of the iphone. It also has a lovely design with a stainless steel exterior. Did I also mention it's a touchscreen? it combines touch screen and full qwerty keyboard. A concept that blackberry copied with the bold 5 Now, between E6 and bold6. When you compare the two OSes symbian^3 is far better. You get a better touchscreen experience, far more apps than bb more functionality, there's hardly anything you can't do with a symbian, Since you're considering Eseries and blackberry, i'm guessing you're business oriented. One feature you'll love is usb otg. Symbian^3 was the first modern OS that had the ability to view flash drives and use a few other usb peripherals. With the E6 you can also connect directly to a projector for presentations via the hdmi port. No need for laptop!! Blackberry's major advantage is with email and push notifications. You have an always on connection that notifies you whenever you have any new email or tweet or whatever without having to refresh. But on the down side, even though it has improved with version 7, Blackberry OS i still bit complicated and clunky when you compare it to the simpler easier to use symbian^3. one more thing that helps the blackberry is the unlimited interet you can get with nigerian operators for 1500. But if you 100mb per month is enough for you, and yo want more value for your money, you shuld go eith the more superior E6 |
and i was just wondering why he had to make you email him. haa.. nigerians! |
Hi all , I,m really interested in the 3.5 mm av cable. How can you make it yourself. Is there a tutorial somewhere? And the usb otg cable also |
How does it go down? I can't think of how a scammer could take advantage since you have to meet in person |
