What kind of car are you using? I might be willing to buy. You may also put it on hire purchase.
fanex:
I already put my cars on hold.

If they ain't forthcoming soon enough, the cars will be sold off.

Qquote author=TokyoBulls post=45727087]The biggest advantage Uber has over others is the fare. They're the most affordable. Lots of partners and drivers in different cities have complained but Uber almost always keep their fares low. I have written to them and am sure many partners have too but the fares are as low as ever despite the 67% fuel price hike. They need to adjust the fares by 15 to 20% otherwise our P&L will start crying.

Your best bet is a knowledge transfer from biological to medical sciences and it is possible if your BSc Biochemistry grades are very tight. You need SAQA to evaluate your WASSCE certificate and BSc certificate and transcripts then you apply to an appropriate school to study Medicine. You will get some waivers having studied a biological science first degree. There are people here who will gladly guide you in the process.

Good day, I'm new here. I am a graduate of Biochemistry from a nigerian university seeking to apply for medicine in a south African university. Please how do I go about it as I know nothing about south African admission process. I read through some of the threads and saw something about saqa, but I honestly dnt understand, pls I need d advice of d house.
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by TokyoBulls(m): 7:34am On May 17, 2016
I understand your hustle but it is illegal to stay in SA permanently on a visit visa. It almost never works well. He can visit for 2 weeks as you said and if he has his papers intact, go on a different class of visa the next time. Surviving in a foreign land on a visit visa is a lot of stress. He can only do illegal trades or menial jobs as he has no papers, he will consistently live in fear of getting deported. He will not be able to travel back to Nigeria for anything and go back even if his father is critically ill or his mother dies. There are just too many issues associated with this kind of 'runs'. There are different classes of visa he can obtain if he intends to stay 'permanently'.
Ademat7:
d relation of mine I spoke about finally decide to go SA tonight, with his two weeks visa will be staying with someone over there, will seek way to do runs of staying permanently but if impossible return n process US visa.which ever way all I can say is Pray for m by Dare art alade

Thanks. The current model is growing fast but the future is drive-to-own. I am putting a plan together and will make it public immediately we are ready.

mrsage:
Option C. Toyota Corolla. Fuel efficient. Good for brand image. Good second hand value.

A Nigerian used 2013 model should be good to go. Cheaper to purchase so faster capital recovery.
A 2013 car should be in good shape unless the driver has evil spirit in him.

I'm already in the cab Business so I understand the dynamics.

And by the way what are the terms for drive to own? I'm interested.
BusinessRe: Uber Taxi Business Inquiry by TokyoBulls(m): 8:56am On May 13, 2016
We are currently building together a more robust plan based on our earlier conversations with partners and current market realities. The obvious truth is: Drivers want freedom (like we all do) and want to earn more now and in the future. We are building our drive-to-own model and will appreciate constructive criticisms and suggestions. Let us start from the model of car. Suppose you were a driver and have to pay over 2-3 years for any of these cars on Uber Lagos, which will be your most preferred option:

A: Volkswagen Polo 2016
B: Hyundai Ellantra 2015
C: Toyota Corolla 2013
D: Nissan Sentra 2015

Consider the following metrics: Second hand value, maintenance and repairs over the years, year of the car and brand new vs tokunbo, brand image, fuel efficiency, durability, etc

I understand your points and where you come from but I have been on Uber for some time and my advice is from this. In Lagos, 50K net income every week is tough UNLESS the car is brand new and you don't need repairs. I have drivers who have crossed N180K few times but the reality is, can they do N180K every week? NO. Can they do N150K every week? NO. Can they do N120K every week? Maybe but from experience, NO. N100K to N120K is the realistic gross income for a very hard working driver. Most drivers don't cross N80K per week. I know the partner and driver you are talking about and I can tell you it is possible once or twice but not consistently. Experienced partners who see those numbers will always laugh because they understand the system. If these N200, 000 numbers are possible weekly, then you won't see many partners offering their cars on Uber Finder. The reality is, those in the system know the business and what's possible. Thanks

akanniade10:
From my understanding, I believe both of you are right in your own way. Fanex is looking at it from an angle of 150k gross income or slightly more. I think 55-60k is attainable depending on hard work tho. At least there are big ballers that make over 200k weekly.

There is this particular partner and his driver that made over 200k weekly twice in less dan a month.... Don't wanna mention their names.

And as TokyoBulls rightly said, it's not constant but it can be attainable in a week or 2.

As a businessman, I would rather zero my mind to 50k weekly. That's why it's a business, if it comes more than that, Glory be to God!!!

55k - 60K A Week is the fair amount
I am confident no driver can deliver N60,000 to you in a consistent and sustainable way so I advise you manage your expectations right. To deliver N60,000, the driver needs to make NGN (60,000 for you + 15, 000 for fuel + 20, 000 for himself + 5, 000 for data phone calls, + 10, 000 for routine maintenance + 10, 000 for repairs + X, 000 for miscellaneous costs). This is over N120, 000 as net income after Uber deducts 20% (which means the driver needs to deliver over N150, 000 every week) and I can confidently tell you no driver can deliver this. You also need to be careful so the car is not misused and/or overused. To deliver N100, 000 (which is minimum 20% less than your expectation), the driver needs to do 15 or more trips per day and that's a lot of stress and strain on the car. If you run your numbers well, you will understand these details and (perhaps) reset your expectations. You may get a driver to give you N60,000 for one or two weeks, but it will not happen for a month.

Hi TokyoBulls,

Sincere apologies for my belated response. Your input is helpful and highly appreciated. I look forward to doing business with you soon.

I'd like to know the price range for pre-owned cars as well.

Thanks
Price range for pre-owned cars as in the cost of the cars or the income you should expect from them? For cost of pre-owned cars, it depends on whether it is foreign pre-owned (tokunbo) or local pre-owned (Nigerian used). You can get some ideas on carmudi.com or jiji.com, etc. Be careful when buying pre-owned cars in Nigeria as there are no certified pre-owned cars here. For earnings, we give N40,000 per week.

Uber charges 20% on Uber X (regular value offering cars such as Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Kia Serato etc) and 25% on Uber Black (executive offering such as LandCruiser Prado, Merc Benz GL 450, Audi Q8, etc)

Please must the car be a clean title car? What if the accident it has been in is very minor, can it be on Uber?

Also, can I schedule the car assessment for a car I intend to buy before making payment, just to be sure it meets Uber's criteria even if the car has no registration number yet?
The technicians and engineers who conduct car inspections do not check the title of the car. However, please ensure the title is clean or very close to being clean. You don't want your driver to spend more time fixing the car than driving riders.

No, you cannot schedule the car for assessment before registration is completed. It must come with its own plate number.

Please which cars will you recommend with the least monthly maintenance costs? If a partner hands over a vehicle to you for weekly returns, who takes care of fueling/maintenance/repair costs?
From experience, due to the pressure of the work, new cars are always better. I will rather have a brand new or almost brand new Hyundai Elantra, Sonata, Kia Serato or Optima on Uber than Nigerian or foreign used Toyota or Honda. That said, Corolla and Camry are also strong and can withstand the pressure of the job.
For the cars I manage and those on drive-to-own, I am responsible for fueling, maintenance and repairs EXCEPT engine-related repairs which hardly occur.
