chulla12: The same TA Orji cleaned up the market as evidenced by my pictures though?I'm a business man with distributors in Ariaria Market and Aba generally. The initial pictures represent Aba and Ariaria much more than the latter ones. Many times, we have to pack on PH Road and trek inside the market. The pictures you posted doesn't in any way represent Aba or Ariaria at all. |
anonymousmum: Hello Tokyobulls,That was the quotation (1,600 USD) I got from the OBGYN (Dr. Geoffrey Andrews Zimmerman). That's all inclusive for normal child birth. IF you will be going through a C-section, he charges 2,100 USD. His address and contact are 2222 Greenhouse Road. Suite 300. Houston TX 77084. Tel: 281-398-8484. Note that they close 12.30 pm on Fridays and I think same on Wednesdays. They usually work between 08.30 am and 5.30 pm so you can schedule your calls. I think the best time to call is around 3 pm Nigerian time. |
justwise: @TokyoBullsI'm using the person and I've spoken to her a couple of times. I have several people I know in Nigeria who have used her services and did't complain. BTW. Do I know the hospital I paid 3,100 USD to? Do I know Dr. Zimmerman Andrews I paid 1,600 USD to? She's not asking for an upfront and she was recommended to me. Please calm down. Have you met the doctor you paid to? |
Nochid: Congrats to Portharcourtboy, blesyn83 and everyone who has had babies in recent times; many more good news to come.Congratulations guys. |
zmoney: I just want to share this. I've been a silent follower of this thread.Got into houston 2days ago with Houston as POE. No hassles with the officer. Was asked my reason for coming of which I replied to have my baby. Please does she need to carry that kind of cash on her for travel? As in raw cash of over 1.5M? Isn't that risky? I was thinking she needs to carry a card on her with her account statement. |

We are using Methodist West Houston Hospital and Dr Geoffrey Andrews Zimmerman. She will be travelling (by God's grace) on October 3. The total hospital bill for normal delivery is $3,100 and doctor charged us $1,600. |
Curlie: Hi Everyone, this thread is most helpful. THANKS A LOT TO ALL CONTRIBUTORS.I don't think there's anything wrong in the wife being the sponsor. You have to pay for each applicant. |
nmagirl1: Mrsfad2014]@ Kween. Thanks so much for the information. I will send the mail earlier next week and update you of their response. Am happy we will be leaving Nija at the same period, kindly advise the airline you will be using and which hotel/ apartment you will be using. I planned staying with a cousin in Harris County , Houston for some days and later get a self catering apartment but when i checked extended stay hotel, i realised its too far to WHMC. Kindly advise on what to do. You can send me a mail on my personal box I await your prompt response. My beautiful wife (and mother of our kids soon IJN) will be in Houston too in October by God's grace. We are using Methodist West Houston Hospital as it comes highly recommended. I can share details of the doctor we are using with you too. I hope she and you can get to connect so she doesn't get too home sick. Also, we are planning she stays with a family but I'm looking for a more affordable accommodation and will appreciate your recommendation(s). |
Mamatukwas: Morning Peeps...Please how much was your account balance as at then? You can give a range if you're not comfortable giving near-exact figures? Is the cash flow more important than current balance or the other way round? Are both equally important? |
Thanks everyone for all the information shared. PLEASE my wife's EDD is November 18 (we are planning she leaves Nigeria October 3), and we've contacted a hospital/doctor in Houston, Texas. We have paid 100% of hospital bill for normal delivery ($3,100) and I am planning to make 100% of obGyn fees ($1,600) on Monday, August 18. However, we were at the US Embassy Office last Monday and our application was refused, but was told we can apply again at any time so I applied the next day, but yet to get an appointment date. I suspect 2 reasons. 1. Our travel and tour firm wasn't aware I had made payments so she had vacation and Walt Disney on the application forms. I didn't know before she submitted the forms but decided to be upright with the consular. She is going to the US to have our baby while I am going for vacation for 1 week. 2. My dressing was smart casual. I wore a pair of jeans on a short-sleeve shirt and converse. Normally, people think I'm like 8 years younger because of my baby face too. I'm 34 and I've been addressed as a 26-year old young man several times. Question is, what's the experience with Abuja and Lagos? Do I schedule the new appointment in Abuja or come to Lagos? What's your dressing got to do with it? |
Saburi a.k.a Malcomn X. Dude got into Ife 3 years before me and now I have an MBA and 6 years of work experience. Lots of sacrifice to be a Student Union leader. Obesere got into Ife in 1989 but was in school till like 2005 or 2006. People sacrifice a lot of stuff. |
There's nothing to think about - Sell both Torres and Mikel. |
nnekamezor: I do feel he staged -managed d whole bombing. Most VIPs in Nigeria uses bullet proof cars. Almost every. |
It is alarming and I'm ashamed that young Nigerians find it difficult to analyse basic national issues. You're a joke if you think GMB will be killed and the Nigerian state will remain same afterwards. Even the President said Nigeria could have been thrown into massive chaos and we might find it difficult to come out of this. Be that as it may, Nigerians should focus on ONE enemy - Boko Haram and stop making enemies of citizens. It is not impossible to defeat BH but it is difficult when you focus on citizens rather than enemies. |
Who benefits more if GMB dies? Who wants GMB dead? Who warned GMB most recently? The trail leads in the same direction. |
Yes it is. I know someone who does it. |
If they do the same job as a civil servant, they can and should be paid as a civil servant. |
Magun is REAL. |
It will be helpful if those who graduated with these grades and have been successful in career or business can share what THEY did to become successful. We know how much Nigerians will attach 'God and his grace' to basic issues such as this but we want to know what YOU did. Grace is available to ALL. |
He doesn't need your advice or ours. He knows who needs the job more - his wife. How come some people think his brother is more important than his wife? Of course not. |
Nice one. This is very good work for the public. Health care is central to any good government and this should be commended by all. |

FMCG in Nigeria is still growing and some of these companies are growing at over 30% Year on Year. I know some that have not grown leas than 25% in the past 5 years. I worked with 3 of them and currently work with 1 and can tell you there are very good international brands that are yet to be in Nigeria. Several of the products sold by these multinationals are not here. Independent people buy, import abd sell them with little efforts, some with absolutely no marketing. Let me give you a perspective. B29 is smuggled into Nigeria from Indonesia through Cotonou. This is shocking but it's the truth. Getting a third party contract manufacturer for soap is absolutely easy and getting the franchise isn't difficult either. I can mention more than a dozen of such brands locally consumed in tonnes yet we they're either imported or smuggled in |
If I were in your shoes, I will not go near Real Estate in Nigeria or Abuja in particular. I live and work in Lagos and Abuja and the property market is only in one direction you can clearly see if you're smart. There are many estates in Abuja that have been completed for more than 4 years without clients to buy or lease. The truth is they're usually overvalued and the owners aren't desperate for cash. Treasurery bills and fixed deposits are safe but yiled very small ROI. You can't get anywhere near 30% with TBills or fixed deposits. My risk appetite is moderate so I don't go near low-risk, low-return investments. I access and invest in moderate and high return businesses and clearly the risk needs to be accessed. There are possible distribution investments that yied up to 5% or more monthly and most of them are multinational FMCG companies with proper structures and are on the Nigerian Stock Exchange or even on New York Exchange. If I were in your shoes, I will get a bank guarantee to the value of this sum and start distribution for 2 of these companies and bring in a franchise brand as the third. Margin on such brands may be as high as 60%. |
Thank you, everyone for your contributions. I will recommend we remain civil, sane and issues based instead of attacking people. Now, let's go to the topic: GEJ has done some work as a President and there are more important achievements you can point to rather than rail system or some few patches on 7 roads. In terms of stabilizing the economy, the GEJ administration (especially with Sanusi, Ngozi and Aganga) have proved doubters wrong. The Nigerian economy is now stable and with GDP growing at 6.9%, Nigeria has been named one of the 4 investment destinations in 2014 as MINT - Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey. Also, GDP rebasing will be done in 2014 and by then, Nigeria will become the 26th largest economy in the world and the 1st in Africa with a GDP of $64trn. Third, the privatization of the power sector is long overdue and this administration has successfully handed over power to private companies. Now aside these, there are a lot more people expect to see from a President whom they considered 'one of us' in 2011. Let me also list some of his undoings. One, under GEJ, corruption thrived more than ever to become deeply rooted as the bane of the Nigerian economy. It is not only that he has not fought corruption, he is also very corrupt. Let me give you examples you don't get to see everywhere. The reason Stella Oduah and Coscharis cannot be punished is because 'someone' owns 60% stake in Coscharis. Also, Coscharis has become the preferred supplier of all vehicles to FG agencies/ministries because of the same reason. Even Elizade, Globe Motors, etc now have to supply through Coscharis, Also, ask who gets rebates from FRSC on all new vehicle plate numbers. Dame P. Second, all the achievements on the economy are clouded by the fact that they do not translate to job creation and wealth distribution. All we have is economic growth on paper without corresponding improvement in standard of living. He has not been able to increase the living standards of the people and that's a shame when the economy is going and he's even planning rebasing. Third, no one else has spent the kind of amount GEJ is spending on INEC; yet there were too many basic issues with Anambra elections. Even though you can clearly say that Obiano is whom the Anambra people want, those teething issues leave room for the opposition to talk. Fourth, he is one of the leaders we hoped would salvage the educational sector but under his watch, this sector has been glaringly neglected. Don't come here and tell me about Federal University, Nassarawa or Gusau. We have much more to do in terms of capacity and skill development especially in power. The new DISCOs have come out to say they don't have capable hands and therefore will have to invest. We had to wait for 5 months to re-open the universities. Polytechnics, Medical Doctors are still on strike. Fifth and finally, he has not been able to clip down excessive use of and abuse of powers. I am totally against the title of 'Coordinating Minster for the Economy' for a minister. I think most of the people in this administration have abused and misused power starting from Diezani (subsidy), Stella Oduah (Coscharis), Dame P (plate numbers - who still threatened governors today), Tukur, Bode Gorge, Al-Mustapha, etc just keep the Nigerian mind in total epilepsy. |
