The issue is despite our high moral upbringing in nigeria, why do we have one of the most morally corrupt society in the world? If our kids are well brought as we claim, why do they leave home to join cultism or become aristos If they are thoroughly disciplined and chastised, why do they grow up to become armed robbers, kidnappers, fraudsters, embezzlers and prostitutes? We insist on spare the rod and spoil the child, yet nigeria has a very high percentage of spoilt and uncaring adults. So then, what really is the essence of our discipline at home? So the child do not talk back at you and is forced to do domestic chores. This is good but discipline goes beyond that, it should last a lifetime. New generation parents needs to review their disciplinary approach, our new motto should be 'teach a child the right way he should grow, and when he becomes an adult he wont depart from it'. We need to start raising kids that will be better adults, this is what our society needs, and the lack of it is our bane as a nation. Instill into the mind of a kid qualities such as integrity, honesty, truthfulness, sincerity, selflessness, contentment, responsibility, fairness, benevolence and other good characters along with respect to elders and suchs. Lets stop lying to our kids. Stop exhibiting aggression, violence, deception, selfishness, intolerance and other vices in their presence. Do not use foul languages around them and stop cursing them Parents should raise their kids for the common good of the society. I know parents that buy waec and ume question papers for their kids, they organize special centres for their kids' waec exam. What exactly are they teaching this teenagers? CORRUPTION and LAZINESS. kids learn faster with action than words and those things they see sticks more, and helps shape their personality. Lets focus more on a kid's personality and less on the rod. His personality determines his contibution to the society. The rod has been shown to be useless, if anything it inhibits a child's ability to fulfil his potential. I was happy when I heard fashola has outlawed whipping in Lagos' public schools. Whippng had never worked, and will never work, it only breeds heart-hardened students, fearsome and unapproachable teachers. This atmosphere isn't conducive for learning. Other forms of punishments can be introduced into our schools as a measure of discipline. The most thrashed students in my class then are now the outcasts of the society, still grasping with their lifes 13 yrs after. |
naptu2: Afghanistan's amnesty for Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants.afghan is a nation at war, Nigeria is not at war. I told u compare like with like. has pakistan(a semi failed state like nigeria) granted amnesty to those terrorist group residing at its mountainous regions? has Assad considered amnesty for the syrian liberation army? besides, afghan and allied troops fought the talibans for 13 years before considering amnesty. Yet, the talibans have scorned all forms of amnesty extended to them and have continued bombing anything that walks. anytime the talibans accept a call for truce, they simply use the opportunity to reinforce SAY NO TO AMNESTY FOR TERRORISTS |
naptu2: Where was it said that ex-boko haram militants will be given public funds? I thought a committee has just been set up to work out modalities?use like to compare like. IRA fought a genuine cause- an end to british rule in northern ireland , unlike boko haram- nobody knows what they even want. IRA can be likened to niger delta, while boko haram should be likened to al queda. Has any country extended amnesty to the latter? |
naptu2: Example. She served jail time for crimes committed, besides she wasn't given public funds in the name of any amnesty. SAY NO TO AMNESTY FOR TERRORIST |
greaterlove: dont you think america will want to negotiate if a group of evangelicals in america become militarized and are bombing govermnent institutions because of something like gay marriage/praying in public schools etc? Al qada are not americans, boko haram is within us.common stop that, google Timothy McVeigh and david koresh SAY NO TO AMNESTY |
Hmm, interesting. so, when is assad going to offer amnesty to the syrian liberation army? or is syrian case different. algeria crushed her terrorists mali crushed her terrorists when mubarak held sway in egypt, he had ZERO tolerance for the muslim brotherhood indonesia and malaysia have no patience for cross border terrorists, any act of terror is met with brutal force somalians are seeking external help to rid the country of terrorists Assad has vowed to kill all terrorists in his country. here in Nigeria, our government wants to give more money to terrorists. Give them money to do what? purchase better weaponry and explosives to reinforce their armoury. what about compensation to the families of thousands of victims killed by boko haram, nobody has said anything about that. SAY NO TO AMNESTY |

autchman144: "road network" and "perimeter wall" are 2 different things, get it. Network has several roads in it, hence the term network. Here, we're talking of a single stretch of wallthe average height of a 70kg man is 1.7m yet the length of the intestine located in his abdomen is 8m. The benin walls are convoluted like the example given above, its are not a single stretch. |
sunnshyn: Fhemmmy, my point is: Anything is possible as long as she's willing to be patient! Tomorrow in this context may mean even before the birth of the child..The said father of the child may come running back to her tomorrow(literarily) who knows?are u sure u reside in nigeria? how many of those men really do come back. once they are gone, they are gone for good. the lady is left alone to carry her cross. most of these women come from low income families, therefore the family support is virtually non existent. on very rare occasions, the man may come back after maany years, only to claim his MALE child if he has fertility or child preferential issues |
Desloaaa: my dear, get sometin doing, any decent job, irrespective of d meagre pay, dust off laziness and make up your mind, that you'll take care of your child, come what may.Adorption is not really a good idea on my part. I'd rather soak garri and salt with my child, than allow him enjoy fried rice and chicken with sm other..that's if the child ever lives that long to hear the story poverty is the commonest cause of nigeria's high infant mortality rate. 88 out of every 1000 babies born in nigeria dont live to see their first birthday. its that bad. let her give up the child for adoption or foster care, at least that will give the child a better chance of survival. |
bigx: 4. Forget that trash of girls not wanting s*ex, its the society we live in that makes them pretend, most times, they want it more than us.actually as weird as it sounds this is the truth |
negosus: Agreed about such right to the president, however he should also know that the people can disagree when such right is mis-applied.ignore the guy, he understands our viewpoint, he's just playing smart. pardon maybe but definitely not restoration we may forgive but we must not forget. |
cap28: what is the life expectancy of the average nigerian?male: 49 yrs female: 51 yrs one of the lowest in africa self, and is due to vaccine given to children and free antiretroviral drugs from the U.S I'm also a salesman in the north pole making huge money selling ice to eskimos ![]() |
Billyonaire: GEJ is mandated to grant State Pardon, if he chose Alam as the benefactor then it is not questionable by anyone, he is the President, and our rants cant change anything cos he is within his constitutional mandate. He is the President not me, not you, If I am there, I will Pardon my friends no matter their crime. Its that simple.Even in matter of state pardon, there are checks and balances, unfortunately in Nigeria we have none and the likes of Alams will go ahead and win senatorial electoral seat in the near future or occupy public offices that entails him handling volumes of financial transaction- a man convicted of stealing public funds. In 2001 fmr president Bill Clinton granted Marc Rich state pardon. Billionaire Marc Rich was accused by federal prosecutors of tax evasion worth $48 million dollars and illegal trading with iran. Rather than stand trial, Rich fled to switzerland and refused to come back home since 1983. He was tried and convicted in absentia. Clinton's pardon to Rich generated a national uproar. Fmr president Carter called it disgraceful. Federal prosecutors insisted they will go ahead with the civil suits against Marc Rich if he ever return and was still expected to pay 100 million dollars fine. Marc rich is yet to return to the U.S as rumours abound he may be arrested for other unrelated criminal charges. Now, I stated the above to show how things work in sane climates and to inform people who have been shouting that U.S presidents also gives controversial pardons that pardon itself has its limits. That limit do not exist in Nigeria and that's why we are worried. |
cap28: This is what continues to boggle my mind - why is it that nigerians still havent understood that the US govt have no interest in allowing african populations to continue to grow faster than their own populations.nigeria at her current growth rate and a population of 170 million isnt growing fast enough? na wa o do u know africa is the 2nd most populous continent after asia. initially it was sterile vaccines, now its killer antiretroviral drugs all in an effort to reduce african population i know u people hates the U.S, but give them credit where its due. |
![]() Rossikk: You really should worry yourself about what is contained in that ''free'' antiretroviral treatment. You are too old to be so gullible in the belief that anything coming from the USA is simultaneously beneficial and free. Especially as the US has been implicated in the manufacture of several artificial diseases including AIDS itself.another conspiracy theory. my piece of advise: change your library, it will really do you a lot of good. . |
Rossikk: India has not ''caught up with the west'' in any way, shape or form. In fact a recent study showed that India is ''far poorer than Africa''.hmmm, rossiki and his unending conspiracy theories. o.k can you then explain to us how communist china became an economic superpower without investment from the west or FDI. about india you are very wrong. there's a big difference btw GDP and per capital income. china has 468 million poor people living on less than $2 per day(36% of the population), yet they have the second biggest economy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poverty_in_the_People's_Republic_of_Ch - 158k - |
Rossikk: AMERICAN ''AID'' IS ALWAYS PREDICATED ON THE PREMISE THAT THE ''AID'' RECIPIENT MUST PURCHASE WHATEVER GOODS THE ''AID'' IS FOR FROM US COMPANIES, EVEN IF THEY CAN OBTAIN THEM CHEAPER ELSEWHERE. SO THE ''AID'' MONEY GENERALLY RETURNS TO THE US ECONOMY. THEY ARE NOT GIVING ANYTHING AWAY.every country does the same. there's no free meal anywhere, not even in freetown. when the chinese gives you money to construct a railroad, they insist their company construct it and you purchase all the equipments from their companies. And if its a loan, u must pay back. |
Rossikk: What a dolt. They're ''free'' because they dropped down like manna from the sky, correct? In 2011, the US Agency for International Development spent some $230 million on aid programs in Nigeria, the bulk of which went towards supporting health programs and in particular preventing and treating HIV/AIDS. The aids ensure 3 million nigerians have FREE access to antiretroviral treatment. The nigerian govt pays for NOTHING. |
Rossikk: Illiterate airhead. How many years of independence did it take America to get to this stage? 300 years? 350? Nigeria is 50 years and you're comparing her to America? Where was America at 50 years? Flogging, torturing, lynching, ra.ping, enslaving, and denying education to everyone who looked like you as a matter of state policy. So, we should wait 350 years before we develop? this man u are something else. what about singapore, indonesia, malaysia, india, turkey, even india. these contries gained independence around the same time as nigeria, but they weren't stupid to wait for 350 years b4 catching up with the west as u're advising nigeria to do. |
Rossikk: US ''aid'' to Nigeria is limited to 'HIV treatment', which is where the bulk of the 300 million dollars goes. Part of the conditions of the 'aid' is that the 'HIV drugs' (Goodness knows what's contained in them) are purchased from (you guessed it) US pharmaceutical companies.stop lying, anti retroviral drugs are free, neither the nigerian govt nor its citizens buys those drugs. visit a VCCT centre and be informed I agree nigerians wont miss those aids if we have a govt that truly cares. Lets start with free antenatal care, free emergency healthcare and free ant malaria drugs Dont worry about the USA, this wont be the first time they will be in recession, rather worry about nigeria that has refused to come out of a 28 year old recession. Instead the govt keeps parading 'paper report' confusing themselves about the state of the economy. |
The aids come in form of vaccines and drugs targeted at specific diseases plaguing Africa and Nigeria which Africa billionaires and governments have ignored.the money is a livesaver to Nigeria poor families who benefit from it. . .though I won't expect Jonathan to reverse the pardon since he and his families are not benefitting from the aid but a travel ban on key officials will do more damage.
I'm surprise this can come from bluetooth, an unrepentant anti west and anti imperialist. anyway the major impact of american aids is in the treatment of HIV and tuberculosis. over 1 million nigerians are on free anti retroviral and anti kochs regimen courtesy of PEPFAR. CDC shouldn't allow politics to come between this noble project. they should find other ways to get at GEJ and his awkward policies. |
kettykin: My Answer to this is refer you to some documents you can read to broaden your knowledge about the world economy. |
1st of all check d meanin of infamous in ur dictionary cos u obviously dnt no d minin den 2ndly check d reason y d interview was taggd "infamous"
About JEREMY PAXMAN Jeremy Dickson Paxman(the interviewer) is an English journalist, author and broadcaster. He has worked for the BBC since 1977, and is known for his forthright and abrasive interviewing style, particularly when interrogating political office holders. His regular appearances on the BBC2's Newsnight programme have been criticised as aggressive, intimidating and condescending, and also applauded as tough and incisive. One of paxman's greatest clip was his interview with chloe smith, a junior minister in the treasury department. Jeremy Paxman likes nothing more than the opportunity to grill a poorly briefed junior minister who has been dumped in it by her boss. She was put up by the Treasury to explain why the government had been so implacably opposed to delaying the fuel duty rise on Monday but had reversed gear so rapidly on Tuesday. chloe was seriously ridiculed by paxman and Senior politicians, including John Prescott and Nadine Dorries questioned Osborne's(treasury minister) judgement for sending a junior minister onto the programme in place of himself (watch the video on youtube):Paxman interviews hapless minister Chloe Smith on Newsnight 26.06.2012 - Excruciating to watch www.youtube.com/watch?v=bddWaHuxTzc - 206k But Smith is not the first and certainly not the last to have felt the discomfort of being asked the same unanswerable question over and over again by Paxman. The most FAMOUS is Paxo's interview with MICHAEL HOWARD in which he asked the then home secretary the same question 12 times over the dismissal of the governor of Parkhurst Prison, John Marriott. The interview in 1997 did DAMAGE Howards reputation and STALLED HIS POLITICAL AMBITION, although he did eventually become leader of the Conservative Party in 2004 but lost the 2005 General Election to Tony Blair. After that he decided to retire from politics and I suspect that this interview will haunt him for years to come. source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Paxman www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/jun/27/jeremy-paxmans-greatest |
coogar: they should keep their foreign aidI'm not sure 3.4 million nigerians receiving free anti retroviral drugs treatment courtesy of PEPFAR will support your statement. |
