Ayee Idris: White people did not go after O.J simpson after he was acquitted of killing his white wife and her white boyfriend. Double standard much?hmmm, so can u tell us O.J simpson's present abode of residence? |
The nigerian judicial system is a huge joke, from top to bottom. Someone retracted a statement he made under oath and was not arrested for perjury. The appeal court judge also didn't bother to question that glaring error, rather went ahead and reversed the original judgement. In a murder trial, one of the most important evidence is motive. The murder of late kudirat abiola was a clear case of political assasination. sgt rogers who admitted killing kudirat worked directly under al mustapha- a member of the then supreme military council, the motive was obvious. Yet the appeal judge ignored this and was asking for bullets knowing fully well nigeria lacks ballistic and forensic technology. Sgt rogers clearly admitted killing kudirat on the orders of al mustapha. He said this both in court and at oputa panel. At oputa panel he never looked like someone under duress, he even said he will coperate with security forces to unveil atrocious acts commited during abacha era. In return for his testimony he was promised freedom, the prosecutors fulfilled their own pact of the deal and sgt rogers was released. The whole world witnessed this deal- it wasn't a secret- yet al mustapha's defense counsel never for once raised the issue of sgt roger's bargain with the prosecutors thruout the trial. Why? Because they knew roger's statements were backed by strong evidence that could not be refuted. 10 yrs later rogers came back to court to deny his earier testimony, something the defense attorney couldn't counter..... common who's fooling who? In his earlier statement he admitted shooting adesanya, alfre rewane, alex ibru, and kudirat. The only thing common to all these people was anti abacha govt activities. Rogers gave intricate details of their respective assasination plans, there is no way someone will know so much about aso rock inner circle except he was one of them. Yet, an appeal court judge threw all these evidences away because there was no bullet. She also questioned sgt rogers' testimony. All over the world contradictory testimony are dismissed by judges if there is substantial evidence to support the initial testimony. In this case the lower court judge did the right thing by ignoring sgt rogers latter rantings. Her only mistake was that she didn't order him arrested, tried and sentenced for perjury. She also should have compelled him to name those influencing him to alter his statement in a federal case. Our judicial system is sick and its a very big shame. With sham trials and judgement like this, small wonder we have many unsolved high profile muders in this country. |
so long as he pays tax on the property i no get issue |
personally, i don't really have issues with kids watching children cartoon. so long as they don't watch african magic and ghana nollywood. the stuff they show in those channels are so dull that they impede mental development of a growing up child. |
Bisjosh: Are u sure this man is 90?read the post, it aint much. |
ochallo: how come ojb's own is 16 million and why are they all going to indian hospitalsit's cheaper in india - around #4 million both for the transplant and immunosupppresive drugs. renal transplant is performed in some of our govt hospitals but i'm not sure of its success rate. st nicholas has a well established renal unit and has performed over 100 renal transplants, but their charge is expensive - #10 million or there about. so, india still remains the prefered destination. all this donations here and there is not the solution. let us have a universal healthcare coverage for every nigerian- either gainfully employed or not with well eqiuped health facilities. |
the problem with a national carrier has never been that of political will or lack of investment but that of selfish interest and greed by our public office holders. they think airline business is a goldmine. read the link below and u will understand http://www.eturbonews.com/5010/branson-s-virgin-nigeria-nightmare http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Nigeria |
adconline: Richard Branson said that Virgin Naija iwas his biggest mistake. Any private company that ventures into this so called PPP is only driven by loss. Another avenue to dole out Naija money to their cronies!i smell transcorp all over the project. it's just another avenue for the F.G to scam both local and foreign investors thru their dubious PPP scheme. by the way can someone actually explain the circumstances that led to the demise of air nigeria and virgin nigeria despite being public/private controlled enterprise. |
Pennywise: If the govt proceeds as planned, then the red passport is dead in the water in all things Nigeria. Folks will need to dig up and renew their kpale. This could translate to millions of pounds to the Nigerian govt-not bad.most dual citizens i know actually use their green passport when entering nigeria, i guess to avoid visa fees. so this new policy changes nothing. if it's bond FGN will definitely return the money after the time frame if they didn't run foul of any law while in nigeria. so, where is nigeria making the million of pounds? |
coogar: about 120,000 british nationals visit nigeria every year.and for those of them that are british natives, what's their visa type? |
coogar: i support this move....dont let us get carried away unnecessary. how many british citizens apart from nigerian nationals apply for nigerian visitors visa? nigeria is not a tourist destination so foreigners dont flock here for vacation. Most foreigners in nigeria are working for multinationals and either have business visa or work permit. If these bond is to work at all, we have to apply it to all forms of visa application. |
coming from a man whose significant contribution to this nation was to kill a sitting president and ignite the civil war that led to the death of millions. |
jp philips: one of the most corrupt souls Nigeria has ever produced, abiyomo or whatever name u chose to bear, how can you write that belewa's wife was first lady at a time Zik was head of state?During the first republic, the real power lies with balewa not azikwe. The former was fully in control of the govt and country. Azikwe was simply a ceremional figure - just like the queen of england is the ceremonial head of state of U.K, australia, canada, new zealand e.t.c. When the politicians handed over to ironsi in the 1966 coup, Azikwe was very much alive and yet wasn't consulted. That's to tell u how inconsequential his office was not to talk of that of his wife. Moreover, there was nothing like office of the first of the lady in the first republic(its unconstitutional anyway), this office is an invention of the military boys that was glorified during late maryam babangida's tenure. Finally u may think it's cool to adopt a foreign name as a username 150 years after eradication of slave trade, others beg to differ. Rather they identify with their root and chose to adopt native names. means MOTHERHOOD, so i can't understand why u're having psychosomatic issues concerning her username. |
Cornel88: Maybe it is because he is notmost of the people you mentioned still retain their nigerian connection and international media do mention it. check their personal profile on wikipedia to confirm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temi_Fagbenle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_Ohuruogu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eniola_Aluko http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiodun_Oyepitan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabriel_Agbonlahor In as much as what the 2 micheals did was highly despicable, they remain natives of Nigeria and that cannot be taken away from them. Remember the 2 Tsarnaev brothers were called chechnya despite the fact that they grew up and were radicalized in the U.S. The chechen govt didn't deny the boys they only deny any link btw chechnya and the act of terror. |
chris365: you guys should have seen on AL-jazeera as they called those boys British. that's why i love that station."filled with professional journalists'stop lying http://www.aljazeera.com/news/europe/2013/05/201352405919938321.html A new video has emerged of the two suspects, who appear to run at the police as they arrived at the scene of the crime. They had been known to MI5 security services before the attack, reports said. One man is believed to be 28-year-old Londoner Michael Adebolajo, who is of Nigerian descent, and is said to have converted to Islam 10 years ago. |
No doubt this criminal is a british citizen but we cannot deny the fact that he has yoruba blood flowing in his vein and that makes him a nigerian. It does not matter whether he holds a nigerian passport or not. He's a native of nigeria. He cannot be deprived of this right simply because he has done something bad. The constitution guarantees that. Beside nigeria has benefitted from this arrangement in the past. Victor moses was a british citizen and eligible to play for england when he switched allegiance and decided to represent his native country, nigeria. Majority of the guys in the nigeria basketball team at london 2012 were american citizens who were born in the U.S, had never set foot on nigeria and didn't have nigerian passports prior to the game. Moreover, we nigerians are equally guilty of negative stereotypes. A hausa boy who was born and bred in lagos is called an aboki, while a kalu who has never been to the east is called 'omo ibo wey too like money'. So the lesson here is no matter where u live, the evil u do will be traced to ur roots and ur people will end up sharing in the insults and ridicule. |

1 dollar per day= #4500 per month. I'm sure very few nigerians earn this amount monthly- most likely per time job or locum. However, poverty definition now includes dependents and total amount earned by a family. A wheelbarrow pusher will do well to earn btw #10000-15000/ month, but that amount may not cater for a family of four( husband, housewife and 2 children). That's how they came about 54% of nigerians living below poverty level(2010 poverty index). Remember these figures includes children and elderly who are not working but are dependent on the workforce population. Therefore those working must earn enough to take care of themselves and the population not working. For example in the U.S poverty is defined as a family earning below $20000 per year. Based on this figure, recent survey shows that 15% of americans are poor. |
coogar: i didn't even have to try so hard - easy peasy lemon squeezy!hmm, all these are attributed to a local ibadan girl whose world probably revolves round blackberry and 'oko mi'. This is naija not 'law & order'. |
This man is getting too paranoid he needs to chill a little b4 he becomes another howard hughes |
the post makes no sense, what if u marry a career woman but unfortunately lost her job after marriage- thus becoming jobless. what will u do? kick her out? btw back then in school, a lot of my female classmates got married as students! today they are successful career women. In this part of the world women are expected to get married early, thus denying them the infinite time needed to build a career as spinsters. stop generalizing, every man should go for what suits him |
Fagunwa series: aditu olodumare, igbo olodumare- forest of god, ireke onibudo, irinkerindo ninu igbo elegbeje- expedition to the mountain of thought. Then the king of them all; ogboju ode ninu igbo irunmole: forest of a thousand demon. Attempt was made by yoruba nollywood to adapt some of fagunwa's works to screenplay, but the whole concept lacked creativity, and the outcome was bland, thus the idea was abandoned. My other favourites include: passport of mallam ilia- a very explosive book that tells a powerful story of love. Behind the rising sun by S.O Mezu - an entirely objective witness account and one of the very few impartial books about the biafran war. |
Good news but some things are not clear: 1. According to cbn annual report and wikipedia source, petroleum and petroleum products account for 95% of nigerian export in 2012. So how come this report said 63%. 2. This report said $30 billion was added to our foreign reserve last year alone. But nigeria's F.R hovered btw 40-45 billion dollars truout last year. So where is the extra $30 billion dollars? 3. If imports was reduced by almost half in 2012, then i expect a significant lesser pressure on our naira. Yet in 2012 the naira was exchanged for btw N155-160 per dollar. In 2006-2008 when nigeria enjoyed a significant trade surplus the dollar was exchanged for N105 and the prices of imported goods also came down. 4. Unemployment remains 25% despite N4.2 trl worth of production within a year with manufacturing sector employing the lowest % of workforce |
dare2think: I laugh at your ignorance.so u guys actually expect someone to come online and admit to occultic practices. its like u guys dont know the meaning of occultism Where in the world is occultism open or branded as a theatre show? Its secret and engulfed in darkness. U never know until you enter, those outside only have a vague idea of whats its all about. And trust me u never want to know. And in case u dont know, most of their activities are against the laws of the land - just like armed robbery - thus its not something for open discussion. I dont know if you guys were grown up during the otokoto saga of the 1990s in owerri. Most men involved in the case have been convicted and sentenced to death by the state. There was also the case of some 3 osu boys who were rounded up by the police after purchasing new hummer jeeps. The 3 confessed to money rituals. Besides industrialization has nothing to do with cultural belief system of the people, in fact in most cases they do co-exist. India is an emerging economy but they are also rich in black magic and occultic sects. japan u mentioned also has Myo-o and aum shinrikyo sects. |
Tashamania: obviously you know those who are single and those that are married. so what are u squeaking about? encourage the single and ignore the married. stay away from married men and dont be a potential home breaker. Running to nairaland for help wont save u when katakata burst. |
okonjo didn't address the questions she was asked including the one on corruption, rather she kept comparing Nigeria to other countries. I would have preferred her talking about how we should address our problem rather than taking solace in mexico, india, and south africa. Its funny how our leaders are quick to remind us of economic struggles in other countries but keeps quiet about these countries giant strides in global economy. just imagine, Iweala even compared our infrastructural development with that of china. I guess amanpour was pissed off, the probable reason she ended the interview unexpectedly. Get rid of corruption and fix the problem, that's what you are called to do and stop giving excuses. |
@o.p, dont worry, I'm sure you will finally meet the girl of ur dream. just keep searching. only problem is you may well be at the other side of 35years when u finally say your solemn vows. |
@ orikinla, can u pls shed more light on nigerian satelites in space. where are these satellites monitored? abuja or their respective launch sites? does the abuja agency has the facilities to monitor the activities of these satelites in space? Nigeriasat-1 was part of the world-wide Disaster Monitoring Constellation System.[1] The primary objectives of the Nigeriasat-1 were: to give early warning signals of environmental disaster; to help detect and control desertification in the northern part of Nigeria; to assist in demographic planning; to establish the relationship between malaria vectors and the environment that breeds malaria and to give early warning signals on future outbreaks of meningitis using remote sensing technology; to provide the technology needed to bring education to all parts of the country through distant learning; and to aid in conflict resolution and border disputes by mapping out state and International borders. are we actually utilizing to maximum capacity the benefits these satellites has to offer us or are they just naija for show in space. I read somewhere that nigersat was the first satelite to detect hurricane katrina yet nobody warned us about last year flooding that ravaged the nation. is any of those satelites beneficial to the telecommunication and the aviation sectors? i read they're planning sending astronauts to space in the near future. i think they should postpone such plans now and instead focus on building a successful indigenous space centre that will be well utilized by relevant agencies here in nigeria |
obowunmi: I have to agree with Nwando - for a so-called "christian" I would advise that she reduce the lies -i just went tru an article in a u.k based journal where she posted a biography of herself when she was 24. She said she's a member of american academy of aesthetic physicians. You dont need to be a specialist to be a member. All need is a M.B.B.S and its open to all. You can get their course material online and write the exam anywhere in the world. She never said she's a member of american academy of aesthetic surgery. She granted the interview while in japan on MEXT scholarship for a masters program. Now i'm not sure u really have an idea what people do in science related masters program, but u need to know its not about cramming and passing exams. Its about RESEARCH, most esp if its research based masters. She mentioned one Prof. Yamanaka of kyoto university as her mentor. The prof is a renowned expert in the field of stem cell research and regenerative medicine. You dont need rocket science to deduce she worked under the prof and their works were published in reputable journals. The issue of nhs work experience and age of graduation has been resolved. People who know her personally has confirmed the above. No need overflogging the issue. There's nothing wrong with her C.V, only she packaged it very well. And that's how modern C.V looks like. Every of your honest input or contribution counts and people are encouraged to include them in their C.V |
nwando:This guy, do you know what happens to haters? they are always embittered. Its obvious nobody here wants to read ur needless ranting refrain from this wasteful path u're treading and make something good out of your life we will celebrate u and CNN will interview u. |
Orikinla: The so called Flying Doctors are not meant for the poor masses and they are chartered by the rich and also by big companies for their executives.when IVF came into nigeria, it was exclusively for the super-rich. today, middle class income earners can afford assisted reproductive techniques. look beyond the present, see the bigger picture kudos to the girl, she's a big inspiration to all nigerians no doubt some aspect of her biography needs to be clarified, it doesn't change the fact that she left a life of comfort in the lucrative u.k's NHS for uncertainty in nigeria she's a pioneer and has created more opportunities for others to explore |
Decryptor: Mehnnn, i would have argued about this but i just have to agree with this thread o. Cos i met a nurse on nairalist and she visited me last year and Oh Boy!
