Wealth baba, let's discuss "hometie". If this trend of refusals due to ties to home country is anything to go by,
It's however pertinent on us to prepare a very sound application that present a very convincing and acceptable home ties clearly stated in our letters of explanation or statements or purpose.

I see a lot of people present land documents belonging to their parents. I really don't know the rationale behind this act but I think it's best if we declare our personal assets since it's a work visa and we are expected to have achieved some little things before getting married

Also, we should endeavour to link our siblings/aged parents that we know we are responsible for as our ties to home country.

Alternatively, I think if we can get a prospective employer to write us a letter that upon return, we would be employed as we would have garnered international experience and it would add value to their organization. I believe this should go a long way in convincing the VOs that we have every reason to return since it's a trv. wink

CAVEAT: Those points above are outrightly my opinion and are subject to criticism. I'm still a learner.

Let's discuss to keep this thread alive.

Your sincerely,

TRV Toddler. grin

In my opinion, one of the best home ties is your job. Apart from the letter from a prospective employer stating that you will be taking up a job in his or her company when you come back to Nigeria, I think a letter of approved leave of absence from your present employer is also a very good home tie, if not better. The leave of absence could be with or without pay.

dodoyemi:
Hello House,

I am currently working in Canada and my wife applied for SOWP . I am a service technician which meets the NOC requirements NOC B, i supported her application with my job confirmation letter which stated my roles and my current wages and also included my pay slips and bank statements -Application was submitted via VFS May 16 . I recently got a new job with a significant increase in wages which i resumed July 10 as a service technician. Note the application was via paper route, do I need to update the application with the new job offer confirmation letter and pay slip( I only have one pay slip because i just resumed) or should i rely on the previous one. And if yes, how do I add the new documents, via vfs or online?

Also i havent been able to link the application online, i have tried all the options suggested earlier in the thread. Please kindly advice.

Congratulations on your new job dodoyemi. I understand the anxiety people have when they apply for things like visa especially when you want your wife to join you in a country like Canada. I am also waiting for a positive response from the CIC concerning the application for my wife and son. Yes, I think you may add the information about the new employment. I think it is possible the CIC may want to find out about you in your previous workplace.

If you decide to add information about your new employment, you can do that through the web form on this webpage: http://CIC.GC.ca/English/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=052&top=3
I think you can scan the payslip and support it with your employment letter.

I tried to also link my wife's application online, it did not work. I don't know the solution to that, though I have followed some instructions on this, it did not just work.

Hello seniors in the house please i need clarification on my application. Me and my wife with daughter applied on May-25th paper route with aid of an agent but uptill this moment no response and I'm curious of our chances of securing of visa Documents submitted as follows:
*Wife School letter of acceptance (Diploma 3years)
*Reference letters from two employer
*Pay slips
*Marriage certificate
*Declaration of age afidavit
*Birth certificate for daughter
*Statement of accounts ₦1.90m, $10k
Please i need your opinion

Hi Aaaziz,
I do not know if you have read through this thread to any extent. My response to your question will be based on my knowledge of SOWP and study permit applications and what I have read on nairaland.

First, if the response you are talking about is approval or request for medical test, I don't think it is too late for you to get a response. According to the CIC website, processing time for work permits from Nigeria is 28 weeks. And based on my observation, most of the applicants that have received positive responses on this thread applied in February. Though you did not state what you applied for: work permit, study permit or visitors visa. If the principal applicant applied for study permit, I think you need to also join the thread on study permit to Canada. Please, be explicit, who got the admission, you or your wife? What did who apply for? etc.
Secondly, I assume your wife got an admission for a three year diploma course in Canada. Did your wife apply for study permit? I think processing time for study permit is around 14 weeks. When is she supposed to resume? If she is supposed to resume by September and she applied on May 25, it appears the the permit will be approved around August ending to early September going by the processing time on the CIC website.
Third, you said your application is paper-based, did you do biometrics in the VAC (visa application centre)? Please, don't be annoyed because the question sounds fundamental, but I read on the other thread of someone whose friend/family member applied for visa through an agent and the applicant did not do biometrics in the VAC. Apparently the applicant was scammed.

In all, I think you need to provide more info, at the same time there is no need to panic if you have not received any response from CIC for now.

Concerning the documents you provided, these are my comments:
1. I think you have provided good amount(10,000 dollars + 1.9 mill naira) as proof of fund. The requirement is 10k+4k+3k=17k for a couple and 1 child. That is, 10k for the principal applicant, 4k for the first accompanying family member and 3k for the second accompanying family member. Except if the applicant is going to Qubec, you need to provide more.

2. About Reference letters from employers, what is the content? Were they supporting your application? Or the letter were to introduce you to the CIC as employees?
I think gurus in the house can provide more info. I h
Please note that CIC is the department in charge of immigration to Canada.

There are applications on this thread that took 5months before getting approved. There is also someone her (VEIL1234 who applied in February and has gotten approval. With this in mind, i don't think there is a pattern. Each application is treated on its own. There is also a processing time stated on the CIC website and if you dont get any response after that time, you can contact them to inquire about your application.

Our in-house consultants may be able to provide a better answer.

It appears you misunderstood me. My number 2 conjecture does not mean I have observed that work permits are approved after 3-4 months. I meant that from my observation, it appears people that receive replies from CIC before the end of the 4th month of their application are being denied. On the other hand hand, it appears surviving till the 5month or beyond the 4thonth increases the chances of getting a work permit approved.

BTW, this is based on my observation from people's experience. I do not claim these statements are factual.
VEIL 1234's work permit took more than 4 months, and she applied in February. That is still confirming the 2 statements I made.

I applied in March 26 and biometrics on 1st April and I've gotten a response from them, not a positive one though.
A reply after three months! So sorry to learn about the delay. Please share your experience with the house, let us all brainstorm.
I am just wondering if there is an observable pattern in the way the CIC responds to applications. These are my conjectures:
1. Recent Approvals are for February applicants
2. If an application can survive beyond 3-4months, it stands a good chance of being approved.
I stand to be corrected.

Please, what is your take about this.

I wish you can read this. I learnt a big lesson from a Professor, she said "you will always find a woman that is more attractive than your wife". That is very true my brother. If you go ahead and marry this new woman, remember " you will always find a woman that is more attractive than your wife, no matter how beautiful she is". That corroborates the saying that love is more than the feeling itself, it is a commitment. Sometimes, the feeling itself may not be there, but remind yourself, it is a commitment to your vows. If you feed your commitment to your wife positively, your love (feeling) for her will grow.

Please, I think you fed your feelings for the other woman. If you spend the same effort on building your marriage, things will work out fine.

I need your advice concerning the application for SOWP for my wife and visitor's visa for my son; What is the possibility of applying for visitor's visa for my one-year-old son alongside my wife's SOWP? How should I go about it?

Is there a need for POF? We have been delaying the application because of POF.

Thank you.

Donald calls people what he is;

He says Hillary is crooked:

He accused some people of not paying enough taxes, He has not paid, or there is no proof he has paid taxes in ten years
He claims Washington is corrupt, He is even more corrupt than the Washington set-up, there are proofs he has been involved in many corrupt practices
He claims illegal immigrants should be sent packing, Melania worked in America as an illegal immigrant before becoming a citizen
etc etc.

When you watch him talk, he is guilty of things he accuses other of doing. He wants to paint others black so that he will look good. He is only a bully. If he eventually becomes the next American President, his reign will mark the beginning of the end of America's greatness.

mars123:
so you would have preferred he started quoting references after he finished the speech? you should be smarter than this.

For your information, plagiarism is when you copy someones work and take credit for it. then u can be stripped of honours and taken to court too, this I know.

But you cannot tell me Buhari has committed a crime by using part of someone's speech. Why because a speech is a vocalised form of communication, when its rephrased, becomes original. and hence its not a crime to copy part of someone speech if it fits with the occasion. leaders everywhere every time do it and you can research if you want.

moreover credit can't be given in this case because it was rephrased hence you can't say "like Obama said". The writers(criminal minds or not) are very aware and more learned than you are too.

After all my explanation though, you are still free to have an opinion that matters to no one, not even the original owner of the speech. Because haters can't be reasoned with.
You definitely don't know the meaning of plagiarism. If you use someone's idea without giving credit to the original owner of the idea, it is pure plagiarism. The President needs to apologize, he clearly plagiarized. Unless Nigeria wants to redefine plagiarism. We have practically defined every concept different from the way everyone around the world does.

Please I need help.
I have posted this on another Nairaland forum, but I have not got a answers.

I am now in Canada as a student, but I want my wife and son to join me.

The following are my concern:
1. How can I prove that we have enough fund for their (my wife and son) upkeep for at least one year as stipulated by CIC. Do I have to own the money in my account in Canada or Nigeria? What if someone sends the money to my wife's account and the person backs it up with a letter that he deliberately provided the money to facilitate her travel to join her husband? Will they still request for statement of account?
2. She is self employed and her business is not registered. Her parents are in Nigeria and they own a small company but I doubt it if the company's account is well funded. Now, my question is; how can she prove that she has home ties?
3. I understand my wife can apply for SOWP, and my son can apply for visitor's visa. Is there a category of visitor's visa that can allow him to stay in Canada for more than six months?
I have read instructions on CIC website, it appears these questions are not answered with the information provided on the websites.

while i agree with you bro, a PGC(D) applicant would provide mediocre application and will hardly scale through.most atimes you can hardly hear PHD applicants here even with glaring loop holes they still get approved.i don't think i have seen any PHD applicant active on this thread get refused.same is applicable to masters applicants on scholarship or funding a VO would always be convinced that they are genuine students and would rarely pay attention to lapses in their applicaton except blatant concerning issues. But let PGC(D) applicant try leaving somethings undone, the individual is willingly providing pathway for the VO to discard the application.if prayer and fasting was about getting visa i wouldnt have been refused on just that mere reason cos my sponsor's monthly earning which is clearly stated on her payslips can still cover the remaining 1million in reference to the current exchange rate which another VO might still consider me if i appeared in the category of genuine students as it seems to them.in essence do the right thing 1st then grace, destiny and God's time for you can come to play. The truth is we all might not be meant for canada. I wanna attend an educational conference in University of Toronto for my project research purpose. I have gotten a letter of identification from the dean of students in my school, I have paid for the conference and gotten my receipt, I have also gotten an invitation letter, my eldest brother is sponsoring everything(both flight and hotel). Problem is this is my first time of traveling out if I don't have a travel history and the conference is to hold from 14- 16th October. please can anyone advise me on what documents I need to gather? and do I need medical exam? and which is faster? online or manual application? thanks

Your case can only be treated differently. You are not applying for temporary resident visa. So you do not need a medical test. Medical tests are required from people that will reside in Canada for more than six months.

You need a flight itinery (round trip)
You need to show you have booked for an hotel for those number of days will be staying in Canada.
You also need to show you have enough money for feeding for those number of days. You can request for a letter of introduction from the dean of students affairs from your university to the embassy. This will boost your application, it has to be stated in the letter that you will come back to Nigeria after the conference.

I do not know which is faster of the two (online and paper) but the process for TRV is different from yours a little. For instance, I think your application will be treated in Lagos, while TRVs are sent to Accra
