Markab:In my opinion, one of the best home ties is your job. Apart from the letter from a prospective employer stating that you will be taking up a job in his or her company when you come back to Nigeria, I think a letter of approved leave of absence from your present employer is also a very good home tie, if not better. The leave of absence could be with or without pay. 1 Like |

dodoyemi: Congratulations on your new job dodoyemi. I understand the anxiety people have when they apply for things like visa especially when you want your wife to join you in a country like Canada. I am also waiting for a positive response from the CIC concerning the application for my wife and son. Yes, I think you may add the information about the new employment. I think it is possible the CIC may want to find out about you in your previous workplace. If you decide to add information about your new employment, you can do that through the web form on this webpage: http://CIC.GC.ca/English/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=052&top=3 I think you can scan the payslip and support it with your employment letter. I tried to also link my wife's application online, it did not work. I don't know the solution to that, though I have followed some instructions on this, it did not just work. |

Aaaziz:Hi Aaaziz, I do not know if you have read through this thread to any extent. My response to your question will be based on my knowledge of SOWP and study permit applications and what I have read on nairaland. First, if the response you are talking about is approval or request for medical test, I don't think it is too late for you to get a response. According to the CIC website, processing time for work permits from Nigeria is 28 weeks. And based on my observation, most of the applicants that have received positive responses on this thread applied in February. Though you did not state what you applied for: work permit, study permit or visitors visa. If the principal applicant applied for study permit, I think you need to also join the thread on study permit to Canada. Please, be explicit, who got the admission, you or your wife? What did who apply for? etc. Secondly, I assume your wife got an admission for a three year diploma course in Canada. Did your wife apply for study permit? I think processing time for study permit is around 14 weeks. When is she supposed to resume? If she is supposed to resume by September and she applied on May 25, it appears the the permit will be approved around August ending to early September going by the processing time on the CIC website. Third, you said your application is paper-based, did you do biometrics in the VAC (visa application centre)? Please, don't be annoyed because the question sounds fundamental, but I read on the other thread of someone whose friend/family member applied for visa through an agent and the applicant did not do biometrics in the VAC. Apparently the applicant was scammed. In all, I think you need to provide more info, at the same time there is no need to panic if you have not received any response from CIC for now. Concerning the documents you provided, these are my comments: 1. I think you have provided good amount(10,000 dollars + 1.9 mill naira) as proof of fund. The requirement is 10k+4k+3k=17k for a couple and 1 child. That is, 10k for the principal applicant, 4k for the first accompanying family member and 3k for the second accompanying family member. Except if the applicant is going to Qubec, you need to provide more. 2. About Reference letters from employers, what is the content? Were they supporting your application? Or the letter were to introduce you to the CIC as employees? I think gurus in the house can provide more info. I h Please note that CIC is the department in charge of immigration to Canada. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Jibe20:It appears you misunderstood me. My number 2 conjecture does not mean I have observed that work permits are approved after 3-4 months. I meant that from my observation, it appears people that receive replies from CIC before the end of the 4th month of their application are being denied. On the other hand hand, it appears surviving till the 5month or beyond the 4thonth increases the chances of getting a work permit approved. BTW, this is based on my observation from people's experience. I do not claim these statements are factual. VEIL 1234's work permit took more than 4 months, and she applied in February. That is still confirming the 2 statements I made. |

Jibe20:A reply after three months! So sorry to learn about the delay. Please share your experience with the house, let us all brainstorm. I am just wondering if there is an observable pattern in the way the CIC responds to applications. These are my conjectures: 1. Recent Approvals are for February applicants 2. If an application can survive beyond 3-4months, it stands a good chance of being approved. I stand to be corrected. Please, what is your take about this. |

Family / Re: Advice : I Care For My Wife But Love Another Woman by Toluwaase(m): 10:08am On May 01, 2017 |
I wish you can read this. I learnt a big lesson from a Professor, she said "you will always find a woman that is more attractive than your wife". That is very true my brother. If you go ahead and marry this new woman, remember " you will always find a woman that is more attractive than your wife, no matter how beautiful she is". That corroborates the saying that love is more than the feeling itself, it is a commitment. Sometimes, the feeling itself may not be there, but remind yourself, it is a commitment to your vows. If you feed your commitment to your wife positively, your love (feeling) for her will grow. Please, I think you fed your feelings for the other woman. If you spend the same effort on building your marriage, things will work out fine. 1 Like |

I need your help NIPOST ambassador. I sent my package before reading this thread, I could have acted differently if I had all the information I am now getting from here. Please the package contains documents and gift items weighing close to 2 kg. It was addressed to a Private mail bag in Ibadan. My question is: will it be delivered to the private mail bag even with the gift items? I have read on this thread that customs sometimes seize packages? What is the fate of my package? There is no tracking number, no phone number, no return address on the package. It was sent through regular mail from Canada |

Hi everyone, I want to commend everyone on this thread for the information you have been providing with open mind. I need your advice concerning the application for SOWP for my wife and visitor's visa for my son; What is the possibility of applying for visitor's visa for my one-year-old son alongside my wife's SOWP? How should I go about it? Is there a need for POF? We have been delaying the application because of POF. Thank you. |

Donald calls people what he is; He says Hillary is crooked: He accused some people of not paying enough taxes, He has not paid, or there is no proof he has paid taxes in ten years He claims Washington is corrupt, He is even more corrupt than the Washington set-up, there are proofs he has been involved in many corrupt practices He claims illegal immigrants should be sent packing, Melania worked in America as an illegal immigrant before becoming a citizen etc etc. When you watch him talk, he is guilty of things he accuses other of doing. He wants to paint others black so that he will look good. He is only a bully. If he eventually becomes the next American President, his reign will mark the beginning of the end of America's greatness. 2 Likes

mars123:You definitely don't know the meaning of plagiarism. If you use someone's idea without giving credit to the original owner of the idea, it is pure plagiarism. The President needs to apologize, he clearly plagiarized. Unless Nigeria wants to redefine plagiarism. We have practically defined every concept different from the way everyone around the world does. 1 Like 1 Share |

Flexherbal:Before now the blames of the failure of this government were heaped on Jonathan and PDP governments that came before him. Now, the song is changing; it is the fault of Nigerians. Very funny, PMB could have negotiated with Nigerians on dat note and campaigned that the change he will bring will depend on Nigerians behaviour even when average citizen cannot afford basic needs. Jonathan will surely be laughing by now. 1 Like |

Please I need help. I have posted this on another Nairaland forum, but I have not got a answers. I am now in Canada as a student, but I want my wife and son to join me. The following are my concern: 1. How can I prove that we have enough fund for their (my wife and son) upkeep for at least one year as stipulated by CIC. Do I have to own the money in my account in Canada or Nigeria? What if someone sends the money to my wife's account and the person backs it up with a letter that he deliberately provided the money to facilitate her travel to join her husband? Will they still request for statement of account? 2. She is self employed and her business is not registered. Her parents are in Nigeria and they own a small company but I doubt it if the company's account is well funded. Now, my question is; how can she prove that she has home ties? 3. I understand my wife can apply for SOWP, and my son can apply for visitor's visa. Is there a category of visitor's visa that can allow him to stay in Canada for more than six months? I have read instructions on CIC website, it appears these questions are not answered with the information provided on the websites. 1 Like |

Please, I need to be informed about the possibility of bringing my family (wife and a son) to Canada. I have my TRV now and I plan to start my PhD come September 2016. My next concern is bringing my family to Canada. It is a very big concern. How soon can I start the process? How do I go about it? Will they apply for visitor's visa? From my inquiries so far, it is only permanent residents that can sponsor family members and spouse. What is the fate of temporary residents? |

johnpoko: Your case can only be treated differently. You are not applying for temporary resident visa. So you do not need a medical test. Medical tests are required from people that will reside in Canada for more than six months. You need a flight itinery (round trip) You need to show you have booked for an hotel for those number of days will be staying in Canada. You also need to show you have enough money for feeding for those number of days. You can request for a letter of introduction from the dean of students affairs from your university to the embassy. This will boost your application, it has to be stated in the letter that you will come back to Nigeria after the conference. I do not know which is faster of the two (online and paper) but the process for TRV is different from yours a little. For instance, I think your application will be treated in Lagos, while TRVs are sent to Accra 1 Like |
