ITbomb: Sometimes I give up on Nigeria . However it is the structure of the country that fails to instill patriotism in the citizens, not that the citizens don't know what to do. [quote I hope for the word 'structure' you actually meant leadership! Indeed, corrupt-minded, egocentric, self-centred politicians remains our national headache till date. It was this demonised First Republic politicians that open the eyes of our 'well trained, polished soldiers' to corruption, now see where that has taken us now! |
olaheavy: I have said it so many times - the Igbos are fvcking ungrateful cannibals. We have been helping them for fvcking so long in Yorubaland. Their forefathr, Zik, was taken in, chapperoned and trained by a Yoruba, Herbert Macaulay. Zik cut his political teeth in Yorubaland: Ojukwu lived and grew up in Yorubaland. So many Igbos that ever became anything in life either moved Yorubaland or were born and raised in our lands. Even today, there are more Igbo human eaters scattered across the Yorubaland than their Igbo homeland. This lame and bitter fool, Achebe, who writes for little children, also schooled in Ibadan and worked and lived in Lagos before he could become somebody in life. I tell you ccannibals: keep on buying properties and building mansions in Yorubaland, you will come to know. And when we pounce on you, a la Boko Haram, there'll be no Awolowo to rescue you this time around. Bastard, cannibalistic Igbo mother and father fvckers! You must be 'heavy on weed' to spew this putrid drivel out of your bucal cavity! You are here typing rubbish about a progressive tribe (in case you don't know I am a Yoruba man)that have gone far in developments compared to us Yorubas. In case you don't know, the Igbos some of us (clueless ones amidst us) are always at logger-heads with now have the first ‘indigenous Oil Refinery in Anambra,’Orient Refinery and before you know it more Refineries will spring up in Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu and the Igbos will no longer talk of being marginalized it’s a question of time. As usual, don’t take my word for it, just take a look around and reflect on what you see! Next time, before you fall on your keyboards make sure you stop taking fito; it’s not helping your case! |
A fiery Pastor was preaching one day, and he shouted with all zeal, “Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand, because on that day, think not that you are going to escape, for there shall be gnashing of teeth.” Right in the front row very close to the Pastor was a frail old man with thick-lensed pair of eye glasses, on hearing that part of the fiery Pastor’s sermon, smiled to himself and nudged the person sitting next to him (another old man) mumbling, “I have no cause to worry since I have no teeth” to which the Pastor declared, “think not you have no teeth, because on that day teeth shall be provided!” A Pastor was in his element on a particular Sunday, as he took all the lesser gods (be it Sango, Obatala, Ogun, Esu, Amadioha etc) to the cleaners. He declared angrily, “I cannot guarantee your eternity if you are still worshipping all these powerless, lesser gods carved out of wood. Because as far as I know it is only Jesus that can save you, all these gods are useless, repent now before it is too late.” Right on top of his head was a ceiling fan rotating at a very high velocity, so when he brought his message to a close he was about to take the congregation through some rounds of Alleluia praise, as he raised up his hand to lead the congregation his hand got caught in the rotating fan and he shouted on top of his voice, “Sanpona o” (another lesser god)! There was a Pastor who loves taking palm wine before preaching on every Sunday, on a particular Sunday, the palm wine seller didn’t show up in time. The Pastor was so furious he had to preach that day without fulfilling his normal ‘routine.’ As he was preaching, the palm wine seller was passing by and the way his Church was built, he could see directly outside, so he decided to pull a fast one on his members, he asked them to rise up and he started a song, “welemu, welemu Temidayo welemu” which was a normal melodious songs in churches but between the Pastor and his son, Temidayo, it means “Temidayo look at the palm wine seller”, Temidayo being a smart boy, got the message and bought the usual gauge for his father. After downing the whole stuff, he forgot to clean the foamy residue of the palm wine that had settled on his moustache so when he climbed the pulpit he could see the congregation looking at him somehow he was curious, his son gave him signs that his black moustache is now looking whitish. Trust the smart Pastor, he quickly turned the message to the parting of the Red Sea, and while he was demonstrating how God parted the Red Sea into two parts before the two parts were joined together again he used that demonstration to stylishly clean his ‘stained moustache’! |
donroxy: u made me laffRead through the post you quoted and tell me what is funny in all 'politician' wrote, it is people like you that make others to laugh the Yorubas to scorn when it matters most. Achebe was right in all ramifications of his outbursts. Awolowo’s singular error in my own dictionary or let me say diary, was his refusal to support the Biafran cause! Believe me, there is more to meet the eyes for an intellectually gifted sage like Awolowo to ‘suddenly’ see himself ‘accepting’ to serve in Gowon’s (a northerner) administration at a time the Biafrans (Eastern Nigeria) were planning their exit from Nigeria. He (in my opinion) must have accepted that offer based on some ‘conditionalities’ which may not have been divulged to the public (perhaps Gowon knows better) up to now. His alleged infamous statement (I am yet to confirm its authenticity) during the Nigeria-Biafra War where he stated; ‘all is fair in war, and starvation is one of the weapons of war. I don’t see why we should feed our enemies fat in order for them to fight harder’, to say the least is incriminating! To me, the above quoted statement is evil-laden (knowing fully well the lives of innocent civilians were at stake) in all its entirety, as much as I respect Pa Awo and even still holds him in high esteem till tomorrow, I think in my own candid opinion his penchant for the crown worked against his judgment on this one. Looking at the hateful statement again, you want to ask, who were the enemies Pa Awo was referring to here? Were they the Biafran soldiers? Were they the grown up civilian men forcefully made soldiers? Were they the defenceless women and those little children and babies? Definitely, all these groups fall into ‘Awo’s painted enemies’! Unfortunately, the inclusion of the last group into that targeted enemies remain the nemesis of Awo till death, being the principal actor in Gowon’s cabinet – It was pure GENOCIDE of the deepest dye! If I am to consider the word ‘enemies’ again, I think we (Nigerians) are the ‘enemies’ here and not the Biafrans. Pa Awo no doubt is a sage, the best President Nigeria never had, little wonder, his political travails on Earth attract deep love and affection from his associates and admirers as well as extreme hatred from his antagonists and virulent critics in equal measure. To the fallen, innocent Igbos, Adieu! |
I don’t get it most times; it seems we (Nigerians) are under a general spell that pervades every nooks and crannies of this land, we all are conscious of the main challenge affecting us as a nation – Corruption. Unfortunately, we choose to look the other way (like leaders, like the led)! What is practically wrong with us? Are we this delusional and insensitive to all these stark realities staring us in our faces? Are we expecting one Angel to appear in the sky and show us how to go about our lives? What is happening in Nigeria on a daily basis right from 1960 till date is a sign of collective amnesia! We all know a man called Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida who institutionalized corruption in the land, a man through his Machiavellian traits wasted over 120 young majors in 1992 and many more too numerous to mention. A man who makes sure the Southerners were finally marginalized in the Nigerian Army. A man who brought the almost dead “Kaduna Mafia” alive into Nigerian political mainstream. A man whose character was exposed during the maiden broadcast of Gideon Orkar coup of April 22nd 1990, when he declared, "Fellow Nigerian Citizens, On behalf of the patriotic and well-meaning peoples of the Middle Belt and the southern parts of this country, I , Major Gideon Orkar, wish to happily inform you of the successful ousting of the dictatorial, corrupt, drug baronish, evil man, deceitful, homo-sexually-centered, prodigalistic, unpatriotic administration of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.” A man who owns virtually anything from telecommunication, oil and gas, power generations, banking, insurance, defense (ammunitions), media, shipping and many other faceless shell companies. He is richer than many countries, all at the expense of this rich country right before our faces. He has bought into virtually every sector of the economy be it human resources (he has vested investments in big shots in almost every tribes of the Nation). Here was a man who was an unknown actor in the retaliatory putsch of July 29th 1966, he was involved in the Dimka’s coup (he was used by Danjuma to abort the coup), he was about to be retired and tried by the Iron hand regime of Buhari/Idiagbon but being a potential coup planner and master strategist, he struck before they could strike. He is by far the richest man in the history of this Country, all at the expense of this great nation. Even in retirement he is still in ‘control’! The influence of the rejuvenated ‘Kaduna Mafia’ (the chosen few) on the whole of Nigeria is too huge and killing to be ignored! We all know these, yet the Nigerian Media are behaving as if all is well. I am so concerned about the way we keep deceiving ourselves! The Northern Nigerian Army erroneously called Nigerian Army has been in charge of this country since July 29th 1966, they are not ready to let go. Not even the late great sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo could withstood them in his time. He must have struck a chord when he (Pa Awo) declared that, ‘the worst of civilian rule is better than the best of military rule”! For that statement, they made sure he never tasted that power he longed for. Many are too delusional to understand that we are still under military rule. Forget this democracy, its pure farce! What is wrong with us? In those days, it is, ‘words of our elders are words of wisdom’, but what I see now is that the ‘words of our elders are words of corruption.’ These so-called elders are the ones that will still queue behind all these clueless, corrupt leaders to campaign for them to become Presidents. They will still be the one to say, ‘the youths are to be blamed’ and my question has always been, ‘who corrupted the youths’? Sanusi Lamido, CBN governor was recently linked to the beheading of Gideon Akaluka in Kano on December, 1994; the reports even revealed that the said Sanusi Lamido was jailed for 2 years in Sokoto by the Abacha’s junta. Yet, no one (of Nigerian press) is intensifying the news further to prove its authenticity and Sanusi is still the CBN governor. Ibori the former governor of Delta State had a long history of criminal records right from his days in the United Kingdom in the 90s and was even convicted of a crime in Nigeria where he was jailed in Abuja, despite the fact that his nefarious activities were open to our press and many top Nigerians, yet he rose to become a governor of a state, no wonder the level of corruption in his time as the governor of the oil rich state. Early this year (February 4th, 2012), there was a shocking revelation of an ex-Boko Haram who has turned into a Christian fingering IBB and others (Atiku inclusive) as the main sponsors of the dreaded Islamic fundamentalist group, unfortunately, one of the same IBB’s companies was part of the shortlisted few companies picked for the privatization exercise in the Power Sector of the country – Can you imagine this madness! Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) are now common sights in Northern parts of the country, yet, ‘all is well’ is what we hear from our “clueless leaders”. On the 1st of October 2012, more than 40 students of the Federal Polytechnic, School of Health Technology and Adamawa State University, Mubi, Adamawa State were mowed down in their primes by yet to be named assailants. Information gathered after the gory incidence points accusing fingers at Islamic fundamentalists (these Muslims again). They were reported to have invaded the hostels of the students knocking on their doors and if they refused to open up, they force their way in ask them if they are Christians or Muslims and if the answer is, ‘I am a Christian’ they were either summarily shot dead or slit in the throats with their knives or given few seconds to renounce their faiths, it was that terrible! They were said to be shouting, “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is greater) as they were shooting and stabbing hostel residents of these three higher institutions. The next thing, Nigerian Muslims will continue to shout, ‘these Boko Harams are not Muslims, we don’t know them’ and my question has always been, ‘If they are not Muslims, then, who are they? Christians? As usual, the news is fast behind us now we are back to our amnesia-ravished memories – what is wrong with us? Many of the nation’s whistleblowers (right from Kaduna Nzeogwu, Dele Giwa, Professor Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe, Gani Fawehinmi, Professor Sam Aluko to Gideon Orkar) both dead and alive have spoken, yet we all just choose to ignore those sacred revelations they gave us and continue in a manner that put our reasoning faculties as a people into question. There is no difference from what Kaduna Nzeogwu did in 1966 in Nigeria and what Jerry Rawlings did in 1979 (the only difference is that in Nigeria they failed to see it as it is, while in Ghana they saw it as it was – cleansing of corruption), little wonder the foundation of the peace and economical development Ghana is enjoying today is based on that coup. The elite class in every tribe has destroyed anything good in Nigeria, school fees in all government-owned Universities are beyond the reach of larger percentage of the students, no good hospitals around, joblessness is rising exponentially, all the past leaders and those at various posts of power who have been indicted of grave offenses are still involved in the politics of Nigeria – This curse of Collective Amnesia is indeed living with us (Nigerians)! |
my favourite is the last one. just picture how some men eat in front of dogs and finish off everything-quite funny 2me |
Our physical appearance is a reflection of our inner state of health. Being overweight is an indication of a highly toxic body due to poor digestion and blood circulation (as a result of clogged arteries) inside our body and inefficient defecation cycle. It is also a manifestation of an unhealthy lifestyle we adopt and characterized by a high cholesterol diet and a sedentary lifestyle we have. It is never too late to change our eating habits! The following tips can be useful if strictly adhered to; • Eat wisely: Fresh foods, fish in place of red meats, lean meats, yoghurt in place of milks especially for adults above 50 years old, fruits, vegetables and water are the major components of good medicine for the body especially plants and greens. Don’t eat too much starchy foods and avoid too much of sweetened liquid. If possible, avoid alcohol completely and you are right on point! • Get Basic Body Needs: Sleep well to achieve enough rest; because during sleep our body and brain repair themselves, this helps our memory and mood. Sleep is essential for body development and mental alertness. Also make sure you brush your teeth twice daily! • Exercise Regularly: Daily or weekly physical active exercise of the body is good for blood circulation. Jogging, walking, biking, swimming, push-ups and taking part in active sports – are enough to get your heart beating faster and to cause you to sweat – all these combine help improve your endurance and help to prevent heart attack and stroke! • Be Hygienic: Always make your environment clean and yourself. Avoid injuring yourself and if by mistake it happens, quickly take necessary measures to treat it. Make sure your first-aid box is intact with the necessary tools! • Motivate Yourself: Give room for private study of the word of God, make friends with good books that inspire you positively. Read autobiographies of great men and women, create time to engage your wife or husband and children in get together it helps a lot to know each other intimately and work on one another weaknesses! Following these tips will do you a lot of good. All the best! |

It was a country that has a very bright future; others were patiently waiting for this ‘sleeping giant’ to wake up and take her rightful place economically in the comity of nations, unfortunately 52 years has rolled by she is still sleeping and instead of running, she is still crawling at 52! Leadership in the country is a product of the system that produces the poor, youths, super rich and the likes; this simply means there is no difference between the behavioural dispositions of the rich and poor as far as Nigeria is concerned. The only stark difference here is one (the rich) is opportuned to be in a place of power over the other (poor)! Invariably, the major clog to the wheel of progress remains the monster, “corruption” with a human face! The only solution to curb this monster is, ‘strict adherence to the rule of law and upholding the tenets of equality before the law’! Corruption has robbed this country of trillions of dollars since 1960 and you expect that kind of a country to develop? No way! Corruption is what we are known for all over the world, we flaunt it at will shamelessly! Below is my TIME LINE of the entity called, NIGERIA: • October 1st 1960 – January 15th 1966: We practiced with Parliamentary Democracy with a Prime Minister at the helm of affairs for 6 years; the new government looked initially like a beacon of hope but was later characterized by electoral malpractices, favouritism, gross corruptions, ethnic-powered violence, and lack of direction. By the 6th year (January 15th 1966) it collapsed. Why? Corruption! • January 15th 1966 – July 29th 1966: A short-lived military regime under the rudderless Supreme Commander, General Aguiyi Ironsi, operated for 6 and half months, rendering a big imbalance (unitary system of government) to the structure (federalism) on ground, eventually it collapsed. Why? Gross ineptitude and lack of focus! • July 29th 1966 – July 29th 1975: The longest serving Head of State in the history of the country emerged, he ruled Nigeria or 9 years. During his time, we engaged in an unfortunate Civil War and practiced with dual leadership at the same time between May 30th 1967 – January 12th 1970 on one hand was General Ojukwu as Head of State, Republic of Biafra (Eastern region of Nigeria), and on the other hand was Major General Yakubu Gowon, Head of State Federal Republic of Nigeria at the end of the siege over 2 million Igbos (military and civilians) were wasted. Gowon returned Nigeria back to federalism abolishing the unitary system of his predecessor, unfortunately, it was a ‘pseudo-federalism’ that favoured a particular region and he also split Nigeria into 12 States an imbalance that set the foundation of Nigeria’s present predicament! As usual, it collapsed. Why? Corruption and Indecision! • July 29th 1975 – February 13th 1976: Another short-lived military regime under the command of General Ramat Murtala Mohammed re-surfaced, he drafted the moving of the federal capital territory to Abuja with the rider, “Lagos is becoming congested”! He promised to hand-over to a democratically government within one year, by 6 months in operation it was aborted! Why? Corruption and marginalization! • February 13th 1976 – October 1st 1979: Lt General Olusegun Obasanjo the 2nd man to the slain Murtala Mohammed emerged as the new Head of Government, he promised to maintain in the structure his predecessor has laid down and also declare that civilian rule will emerge by 1979, even though the citizens were indifferent to his regime despite the fact that many foreign companies were Nigerianized and countries whose foreign policies seem harsh to Nigeria were avoided, he kept to his promise of a hand-over date to a democratically elected government of civilian rule on October 1st, 1979. As usual the government came with its vagaries that range from anti-people policies, corruption and disobedience to the rule of law! • October 1st – December 31st 1983: The Second Republic was brought to life by the emergence of Alhaji Shehu Shagari, it tends to be a conciliatory one at the initial stage, but like the usual antecedents of past administrations, it veered off the track and embezzlements of public funds and strict political marginalization were the order of the day, violence across the western part of the Nation as a result of electoral malpractices and the attendants effects in the second phase of the republic gave the Military the excuse to come back. Why? Corruption in all spheres of the country! • December 31st 1983 – August 27th 1985: The iron-rule regime of Major General Muhammadu Buhari and Brigadier General Tunde Idiagbon was hailed as the new hope of the masses. Its anti-corruption stance was firm and direct; it was purely an autocratic system of the deepest dye with various Decrees that make government leaders and their officials lords. For 20 months it held sway and collapsed as usual. Why? Too rigid and egocentric! • August 27th 1985 – August 26th 1993: The new regime promised to return Nigeria to the Promised Land but ended up being the most corrupt regime in the history of the Nation. His regime witnessed two abortive coups, one (Mamman Vatsa’s coup) was an attempt, although not carried out while the other (Major Gideon Orkar’s coup) was carried out. Under this regime ruled by General Badamasi Babangida, corruption assumed an institutional status and till date Nigeria is yet to survive the killing blow of this regime. He (Babangida) annulled what was considered the freest and fairest election in the history of the country and chose to ‘step down’ putting Nigeria in the care of a ‘caretaker government’ headed by a civilian! • August 26th 1993 – November 17th 1993: The caretaker government (a transitional council) that constitutes civilian and military leaders headed by Chief Ernest Shonekan, was one characterized with gross ineptitude and a jittery one. It eventually collapsed after just 3 months in power! • November 17th 1993 – June 8th 1998: The ousted Interim National Government of Chief Shonekan through a palace coup by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Sani Abacha returned Nigeria to full blown military rule which was characterized by total lack of respect for human rights and anti-citizens policies. Unfortunately, Nigerians woke up on the 9th of June only to be told Abacha had died of cardiac arrest in the late hours of the previous day, June 8th 1998! • June 8th 1998 – May 29th 1999: The sudden death of the maximum ruler, General Sani Abacha on June 8th 1998 paved the way for the former defense chief of staff, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the new Head of State. He quickly promised to restore Nigeria to the path of democracy by May 29th 1999 (a date that has been recognized as the National Democracy Day), on the 8th of July, Chief Moshood Abiola, the widely acclaimed winner of the June 12 election annulled by Babangida suddenly died in detention in suspicious circumstance. Many prisoners were released and by May 29th 1999 a new civilian President was presented to the world! • May 29th 1999 – May 29th 2007: Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was sworn in on May 29th 1999 and many bogus promises were made as usual, despite the many funds and grants at the disposal of this new democratic government, the outcome of the administration at its expiration on May 29th 2007 was not encouraging economic and security wise! He handed over power to another civilian government! • May 29th 2007 – February 9th 2010: Umaru Yar’Adua was the next in line, he was alleged to have not been of sound mind before he was elected, but being the country we are (a land where anything goes) he emerged. His first two years look promising especially with the amnesty program he extended towards the Niger Delta militants group, unfortunately because of what was thought to be a rumour (his ill-health) he died while he was in his 3rd year in far away Saudi Arabia paving way for his Vice-President, Dr. Ebele Goodluck Jonathan, a South-South indigene to emerge as the President. • February 9th 2010 – May 5th 2010 (in acting capacity): The son of a canoe maker, a former deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. Ebele Goodluck Jonathan, who had never contested in any elections to an office was hand picked to be Yar’Adua running mate, after his boss developed a strange illness and flown abroad for medical attention he was conferred with the power of Acting President on the 9th of February, 2010 till May 5th 2010 when his boss President Umaru Yar’Adua finally gave up the ghost. After the demise of his boss on May 5th 2010, he assumed the exalted position of The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the 6th of May, 2010. • May 6th 2010 – Till Date: His inaugural speech was loaded as usual and laden with many promises. After serving out the allotted time of his boss for a first term ticket, he contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and he scaled through the primaries and was duly elected on May 29th 2011. From that time till now, the country has been made ungovernable for him by an Islamic fundamentalist group called, Boko Haram. In his time, power generation has been steady compared to what we used to have in the past. Really, the saboteurs in his government have been a great worry for him Going through the checkered history of Nigeria, one can almost conclude that from 1960 till date, Nigeria is largely dominated by a particular region (North) and this particular region have produced Head of States (either as military or civilian) for 38 years out of our 52 years of Independence! The creation of States by Yakubu Gowon and the mapping out of Abuja as the new Federal Capital Territory under the Murtala regime of 1975 was a killing blow to the newly found wealth of Nigeria through the discovery of oil in the late 50s. The country had witnessed 9 (or 10 if the phantom coup of 1997 under Abacha was to be added) coups till date. It is almost certain that all the leaders we have paraded right from inception till date are ill prepared for the project Nigeria, the more reason when things go awry they are incapable of fostering working solutions that should steer the Ship of State to the land of hope! The challenges range from insecurities, lack of basic amenities, soaring unemployment rates, price hikes of basic commodities, homelessness, uncontrolled rural-urban migration, man-made environmental disasters, surging populations and the biggest of them all, corruption! At 52 years of Independence can Nigerians give thumbs up for their past leaders for jobs well done or the other way round? |

• A goat and a chicken were discussing and walking along the roadside and suddenly a car passed and splash water on them, angrily the chicken hissed and said, ’don’t mind them that’s how they drive like goat.’ The goat smiled and said hmmnnn, ‘no wonder that is how they die like chicken’. • A dog and a cat were talking one day, and the dog asked the cat, ‘why is that when you want to make love you do it in the secret?’ The cat replied, ‘don’t mind those humans they are fond of copying your style, take a look at your style (doggy style), they have copied it already. As for me, my secret is my secret, they will never find out’. • One day two lizards were resting on a wall very close to where some athletes were ‘warming up’ for an oncoming field event, one of the athletes was engaging in ‘push-ups’ one of the lizards was counting after which the guy stopped at 60, ‘wao, that was great said the lizard to the other one, the other replied, ’that is no big deal we taught them that don’t you remember’? • A pride of lion were relaxing in there domain when some men on a safari drove in holding cameras, they started taking series of shots, the following conversation ensued between the biggest two in the pride, First lion: ‘what the hell are they doing’? They tell us adult age starts from 18 years old, but what do we see around us today? Some men are still behaving like boys and women acting like girls all in their reasoning, dress senses, responsibilities, how they talk, handle situations and many more. On the issue of adult-hood in the general terms, it is accepted that from 18 years a boy or girl automatically becomes an adult, in the developed world he or she automatically becomes independent, he or she can decide to stay on his or her own, can even choose to marry, can be sued or sue someone in case of crimes committed vice-versa, etc. In Nigeria’s context, I beg to differ because I am quoting from our lame constitution that has failed to be pro-citizens, according to; Section 29. (1) Any citizen of Nigeria of full age who wishes to renounce his Nigerian citizenship shall make a declaration in the prescribed manner for the renunciation, section (4) reads; for the purposes of subsection (1) of this section. (a) "full age" means the age of eighteen years and above; (b) any woman who is married shall be deemed to be of full age. Full age here means the adult age, which means a girl who is a minor probably by age 14 and finds herself married to a man (a common practice in the Northern part) automatically becomes an adult (according to the b part) even though she is just 14 years old – see what I mean! Going further, who is an adult in Nigeria’s context? An adult is supposed to be a fully grown and matured person. In Nigeria, it is commonly said that, the moment a boy impregnates a girl, he automatically becomes a man because of the attendant responsibilities of caring for a new born baby, forgetting that he is jobless and still dependent! Another school of thoughts opines that when a ‘boy’ can provide for his household he automatically qualifies to be a man, then what happens to the one who cannot provide for his family, although he is a man? Some believe the moment a girl becomes independent by virtue of her good job; she automatically becomes a woman (an adult) irrespective of her age. Some even labeled some men as ‘responsible’ just because they are married. It is pathetic to note that some men or women in their 30s are still staying with their parents and probably collects ‘pocket money’ just to survive, and does that qualifies them as adults or not – I am just asking! Gowon was 32 years old when he suddenly became President, Ojukwu was 33 when he became a President of a new country; ‘Republic of Biafra,’ they were supposed to be adults at least going by their age, unfortunately both displayed high level of immaturities expected of someone not qualified to be called an adult by definitions (even though they were adults by age)! Consequently, the current constitution of this country stipulates that a person aspiring to become the President of Nigeria must be at least 40 years old, according to section 131 (b); according to section 65, sub section1(a) 35 years is the minimum age for someone aspiring to become a Senator; while section 65, sub section1(b) pegged 30 years for the minimum age for someone aspiring to become a member of House of Representatives. Are we going to say a 30 year old man or 40 year old in place of power or big positions in Nigeria is the same as a man of the same age with the same opportunities in the developed world, at least going by the way those who fall within these age brackets in Nigeria act when in office or place of power? Considering all these, the question still re-echoes in my heart that, at what General Age does one becomes an adult in Nigeria? Is it the age of 18 or 25 or 30 or (permit me to include) 40? Honestly, I still don’t get it! |

He had the chance to look very well before leaping, he had the chance to cooperate with his fellow Southerner in the person of Chief Obafemi Awolowo by allowing for the secession clause to remain in the constitution shortly before their departure for London to attend the 1957 Constitutional Conference, but he chose to align with the megalomaniac Northern leader, Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto, he had no premonition that the decision he took then will come back to haunt the people he claimed to represent when they (the Igbos) needed it so much as a result of their agitations for the ‘Republic of Biafra’! The man behind it all is no other than, Chief Benjamin Nnamdi Azikiwe, Owelle of Onitsha, and first indigenous Governor-General and President of Nigeria in the First Republic. With that singular action, he became a mortal enemy to the people he ought to be a hero and mentor to. Today in Igboland, a larger percentage if not almost all the people of Igboland consider Chief Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, Ikemba of Nnewi, the hero, father and mentor of Igbo people over the Owelle! The big question on the lips of many N’digbos have been, why did Zik chose to connive with the Sardauna to back the exclusion of the secession clause in the constitution? The reason is not far-fetched, he was extremely power-hungry and he got what he least expected, a President in a Parliamentary Democracy, which is more or less a figure head, compared to the post of a Prime Minister! I may be wrong, but I strongly believe if the Igbos were allowed to go, the Yorubas would have followed suit with an Oduduwa Nation and today these different nations would have been great nations in their own might compared to the suffering-and-smiling situation we now find ourselves! |
naturalwaves: Well said, nice article! I just bookmarked this page. Thanks pal, please feel free to contact my door is always open for your type of 'focused, goal-oriented guy', my collections is in its thousands more than 6,000 songs (of course I lost a lot when my system crashed! takia pal ![]() |
safarigirl: @tomakint, are you still here? We've seen...or heard the product of the alliance, even for a sell out, that was just low, such a let down, the guy was more or less a none participant in the entire song. Later, his apologists will call us haters, this is what Kanye has turned the Prince of African music to, a common background hummer, sad. I may not be as rich or famous as the tout, it's rather dumb to even compare us both, but age doesn't necessarily translate to smartness, at least I have pride, we can't say same for the dude for now. Can you imagine, one of the attack dogs is stalking me on NL, another NFA on the loose, dude keeps attacking me like I stole his job or something, like wtf yo! Get a life.abeg tell them make them hear, indeed they are simply 'D'banj-freaks'! as for the clown dogging you around for what now? What's the name of that fella? becoz that could be too dangerous, anyway no probs you are protected ![]() |
naturalwaves: Funny U. Ofcourse,we know who d Rookie is, obviously U wao I have to withdraw my earlier comments about you, now I have a buddy in you! Indeed nothing can be like the 80s (I hope we have a gentle agreement on that), as for you still retaining those turntables, big discs, and the likes gives me a big thrill, I love that! I have an article to that; https://www.nairaland.com/1026662/good-80s-just-what-taste Anything from the disco era down to the funky beats are all my passion! I love good music, you will recall nas made mention of something lie. 'hip hop is dead', you will still agree with me that the death of tupac and biggy nailed the coffin of 'real rap'! There was indeed 'renaissance in the music industry in the 80s' don't get me wrong i listen too to songs in the 60s, 70s and even till date, thats why a tuface, an Asa, a nigga raw, and few others (of course minus a d'banj ) still catch my fantasy in Naija hip hop industry! Wao, I think there I have a friend in you musically, I like your taste of musical collections (except for that guy, trust me I have to be sincere with you D'banj is doing fine as a person for himself, family and fans - I am not hating!) but he doesn't just fill in to my type of 'list of real musicians'. To me, his songs is too wack, for my listening pleasure! So, no more trading of insults, at least I share your passion on this! ![]() |

Unfortunately, it's displaying drwtsn 32.exe - Application Error while the dialog box is displaying, The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142) Click on ok to terminate the application. |
Idileke: SaharaReporters has learned that security measures have been strengthened in volatile Northern Nigerian cities in order to guard against the kind of violence in Libya last night which claimed the life of the United States ambassador to that country. And this is supposed to be a religion of PEACE? Definitely, GOD is not in this shiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttt called, ISLAM! |
emma bowin: I know you wouldn't be honest but at least just try and tell us the truth tomakint. You want to ask the 18 year old for her bb pin or her facebook username right?.lolStop taking cheap 'opa eyin' by the road side, it's simply not good for your health, especially your reasoning faculty! |
naturalwaves: The reason Y we come to a forum like this is not only to argue and throw insults but to learn as well.D little kid has a lot of problems with basic reasoning and communication and I tried putting her on d right track but here U are spilling trash and taking us backwards.naturalwaves, wao i like this kid, why you still continue to have issues on my 'my ears have heard the best of tunes' is worrisome! Whatever happens to the good 80s, don't tell me you've not heard the popular adage that, 'nothing like the 80s' there must be a reason why experts are saying that, no need for more education boy! Definitely we can never jell musically! Indeed, we now know the ROOKIE! |
odizzy: no word 4 u kid, cos i see u hv a poor mentality n dis will be d last i reply ur childish post, take dis advise, b4 u start criticising some one's work, take a close look at how successful he or she is, if he or she is rily doin well 4 him or her sef with out stepping on any one's toes den his or her work dont worth criticising but lookd upto as a role model. Not every body have to sound like R.kelly or 2face. Dbanj is gud at his own field of music daz y he is successful 2day. Dnt worri wen u grow up, u wil understand. And pls dnt let an 18yrs old girl decieve u, u re suppose to tink as a man n not as a sisi. naturalwaves: How can someone with a very big problem with simple logical reasoning be a tutor? Well, being a coward that U are,U av decided to take to ur heels as usual. Atleast,U were intelligent enough to know that U are fighting a loosing battle.Ur guideline must av been d proverb,"If U can't stand d heat, don't stay in d kitchen".Infact,d statement, 'Ur ears av heard d best of tunes' validates d myopic, egocentric and prejudiced view U av wrt music.Even, the likes of Ludwig Van Beethoven,Yanni Chrisomalis etc that av composed, played and listened to a lot of great music couldn't av said that, their ears I've heard d best of tunes.U just confirmed that,U are a rookie when it comes to music and U know nothing on it.Maybe Safarigirl had been ur tutor all these wyl.I am not surprised anyway,"Like tutor, like student" and d rest follows. Case Closed! You still don't get it do you? Now I know your pain, an 18 year-old made you look like a 12 year old and the next thing you are still crying, one thing I deduce from all this is that; Your level in music is clearly understood! Stick with it and don’t ‘lecture’ anyone with it. If at your age; nursery rhymes lyrics, immature contents, wack videos, noisy and incoherent beats, vulgar languages and the likes are your passions and are what makes you go gaga……….please waste no time again ranting away in unknown English, I now have every reason to believe you are merely acting your age!!! ![]() |
