What is your taste in life? You write like someone with no taste! That's strange to me not even a monkey will reason the way you just did now. Change your taste about life and be more reasonable. I am just startled by your take on the outburst from your Aboki Elders, who are they advising, you better go and see how u will tame your many Almajiris before they mature into Boko Harams!

It's a pity you are not looking at it from the 'real angle' let me pick Bela Guttman, here was a man who conquered Europe beating the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid in a back to back version (1961 and 1962 finals) with Benfica, at a time Real Madrid and Barcelona were forces to reckon with in Club football (check your facts). The most amazing part of the story he did this with mainly academy players and just few stars from outside, now this is what I called a Special and Only one, not your Mourinho that has all the arsenal (money, players, back up of management) at his disposal, yet he was heavily embarrased by Guardiola with a whooping 5 unreplied goals. What more can i say?

Politics › Re: The Good Things In Nigeria Are Done By Muslims: Sheik Gumi by tomakint: 2:04pm On Aug 14, 2012
scopusng: Islamic cleric Sheik Ahmad Abubakar Gumi yesterday asserted that all the good things in Nigeria were being done by Muslims, contrary to what he described as a conspiracy to present Islam in bad light.

Sheik Gumi, who is based in Saudi Arabia, made the claim as he continued his series of Ramadan sermons at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Ungwan Sarki, Kaduna.

A source who is attending the daily Ramadan sermons gave SaharaReporters details of the sheik’s latest talk.

The source quoted the cleric, whose father was the late Sheik Abubakar Mahmud Gumi, as stating, “All the good things in Nigeria are done by Muslims.” Mr. Gumi reportedly claimed that General Danbazzau was removed as Chief of Army Staff because he is a Muslim, adding that the ex-general’s efforts to build a military hospital in Kaduna have since been abandoned. The cleric stated that the hospital would have served all Nigerians well.

The Islamic cleric also drew his audience’s attention that when Nigeria desperately needed a czar to take on the scourge of corruption, the country turned to Nuhu Ribadu, a Muslim. He reminded the audience that Mr. Ribadu even arrested his boss, ex-Inspector General of Police Tafa Balogun.

Sheik Gumi praised Central Bank Governor Sanusi Lamido for clearing the rubbish at the apex bank. In addition, he praised the work done by Nasir El-Rufai when he served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja.

The cleric also drew attention to the late Abubakar Rimi’s tenure as a minister. He credited Mr. Rimi with firing a director in the ministry who used “juju” to terrorize people, adding that only a Muslim could do that.
Mr. Gumi also lauded the late Head of State, General Murtala Muhammed, for his foresight in moving Nigeria’s capital to Abuja, adding that the city’s central location has worked for the benefit of all Nigerians.

After reinforcing that Muslims were behind the good deeds he enumerated, Sheik Gumi wondered why there were attempts today to portray Muslims as people trying to stir trouble. He asserted that the country was already deep in problems, adding that there should be justice in order to secure everlasting peace.
Mr. Gumi argued that justice demanded that soldiers be sent to southern Kaduna, Jos and other areas where he alleged that Muslims have no protection. He stated that there are still refugees from southern Kaduna and that security agents had done nothing concrete to protect them from attacks.

He urged Muslims to work towards change, beginning with the registration of all mosques. “Let us register all our Mosques, collect 100 naira each,” he said. The cleric added, “This talk is not about Izala but just saving us in this world before we go before God. If we start registration of mosques, ignore those that will refuse the registration, let’s forge ahead and gather money and save our people from this challenges we are facing now.”

Just look at the way they behave and check out that religion and the numbers of countries they have populated and see if there is any meaningful development in there. These are my observations on the Core North so far;

I will like to be specific now, just follow me;

1) About 30% of the Core North are disabled beggars;
2) About 10% of the Core North are able-bodied beggars (Almajiris);
3) About 15% of the Core North are graduates (be it BSC, Masters and PhD holders);
4) About 30% of the Core North are gainfully employed (despite having a mere 15% who are graduates, making the remaining 15% ghost workers);
5) About 10% of the Core North are self-employed (starting from your mai-suya, mai-tea, ram sellers, money-changers, traders etc);
6) While the remaining 5% of the Core North consists of the following (your elders, those few elite class controlling your destinies, the unknown several business men, your few second Royal Fathers and those politicians)

Now tell me what is GOOD about your CORE NORTH?
I am waiting…………………..

N.B: When I say CORE NORTH I mean the following states; Adamawa (North), Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna (North), Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger (North), Sokoto, Yobe and Zamfara.
Politics › Re: Northern Muslim Elders To Asari Dokubo: Go And Read Your History by tomakint: 1:26pm On Aug 14, 2012
Onlytruth: My first input is that the North is obviously trying again to scare the Yoruba into stabbing the south in the back; and I repeat -AGAIN ( at least to be their open conquered territory to the sea), because they believe that Yoruba is the weakest link in the south. Do you notice that they did not even mention Edo or even Cross river side, not to talk of Igbo land? So, they figure that Yoruba is the weakest link and they need to remind them of that, lest they forget. haha.
I personally foresee a situation whereby the North forgets about the East (provided the East stays united -the fear of the Igbo by the North is the reason they would do this), and concentrate on using the West to access the sea. That sea access is the North's major concern.

Anyone who thinks that the Igbo would sit out a war in our own backyard is wrong, and the North knows. cool
Onlytruth, I am a big fan of your work (good job)! The Igbos will always have my support any time any day, they have been terribly cheated, maligned, and above all marginalized! The truth of the matter is,The Igbos are wiser now, likewise the Niger Deltans, and permit meto say the Core North knows what they are doing and this is no joke. My only headache are Yorubas elite class who will always tilt towards the north, now the question? When will that terrible curse spewed on the Yoruba race be reversed! I am a just a Yoruba guy not a typical one!

Dawdy: Why Quran calls Mary, a Sister
of Aaron ? The verse in question is; "O sister of Aaron! Thy father was not a man of evil, nor thy mother a woman unchaste!" (Al-Qur’an 19:28) It does not mean that here Qur’an
calls Mary, the real sister of Aaron, the
Prophet who was hundreds of years
before her. Here she is only being
called a female person of the family,
from the Noble lineage of Prophet Aaron. The Qur’anic usage: In order to understand Qur’anic
language one must look into other
Qur’anic passages. Qur’ans calls Prophet Shoaib as the
brother of the people of Midian.
Qur’an says; “And unto Midian (We sent) their brother, Shu'eyb." (Al-Qur’an 7:85) And similarly Qur’an calls Prophet
Salih, the brother of the people of
Thamud. It says; "And unto Thamud (We sent) their brother Salih." (Al-Qur’an 11:61) In both these examples it is never
meant that the Prophets were the
real brothers of the each and every
person of that tribe. It’s only way to
address them. It means that Shu'aib
was a (male) person from the people of Midian and similarly Salih from the
people of Thamud. So in the very same manner when
Qur’an describes Mary, the mother of
Christ as 'Sister of Aaron', It means
that she is being referred to as a
(female) person from the people, the
lineage of Prophet Aaron. This is infact an Arabic idiom, a way
to address. In Arabia a person from
the tribe Banu Mudhar may be
addressed as Ya Akha Mudhar,
meaning 'O the brother of Mudhar'. The Prophetic answer to this question: Mughira b. Shu'ba reported: When I came to Najran, they (the Christians of Najran) asked me: You read" O sister of Aaron", whereas Moses was born much before Jesus. When I came back to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) I asked him about that, whereupon he said: “The (people of the old age) used to call names (of their persons) after the names of the Prophets and pious persons who had gone before them.” (Sahih Muslim, Book on General Behaviour,
Hadith 3962) The Holy Prophet (PBUH) meant to
say that Mary’s relationship with
Prophet Aaron was mentioned
because she was of his lineage for
among Semites it was common to
associate a person with his lineage. This fits the context as well. The
people thought that Mary had done
something unworthy of a chaste
woman and thus as they rebuked
her, they first made a reference to her
noble ancestry and then testified that even her own father was no wicked
person (verse 28). Observations from the Bible: 1- One thing we need to consider is
that Qur’an does not call Mary ‘Sister
of Moses’ but ‘Sister of Aaron’. 2- Aaron (PBUH) we know was the
first in line for the Israelite
priesthood. 3- New Testament clearly tells us that
Elizabeth, the mother of John the
Baptist (PBUH) was from the lineage
of Aaron (Luke 1:5). Also it tells that
Mary was a cousin of Elizabeth (1:36).
Therefore we can easily call them both ‘Sisters of Aaron’ i.e. from the
lineage of Aaron. 4- Infact we have evidence of the
similar usage from the Bible. In
Genesis 13:8 Abraham and Lot are
called brothers while certainly they
did not come from loins of one
individual. It reads; “And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.” A certain Christian commentator,
Adam Clarke says in his commentary
to this verse; ‘[It means] we are of the same family,
worship the same God in the same
way, have the same promises, and
look for the same end.’ Was the same not true in case of Mary
and Aaron? Were they both not from
the same priestly family and of same
faith? So the conclusion is that this is only a
beautiful way of expression in the
Arabic language and to try to twist it
some other way speaks only of ones
inner wickedness and that’s all! INDEED ALLAH KNOWS THE BEST!
What else can be more deriding if not this piece of FARCE from you! If you want to be schooled even in your religion, so be it! What you put here is nothing but absolute BS!
Politics › Re: Much Talked About Onitsha Mosque Demolished! by tomakint: 12:57pm On Aug 14, 2012
noblezone: You don't know what you are talking about. Jesus actually died for us His followers to redeem us (I know Islam hates those who teach this, but that is the truth). Now, great number of followers of Mohammad died for him. Go and read history and see how he conquered Mecca and other places. Did you say Mohammad defended the "word of God" with the sword? Please stop insulting the Maker of the Heavens and the Earth. Is God such a weakling that he needs humans to fight for Him? Mohammad's god must be different from the Our Heavenly Father who loves all men and want them to be saved.

Read Koran again and see the instructions about "wars" with infidels. Somebody will quickly remind me of "wars" in the Bible, but like I have said somewhere else, the Bible is clearly separated between the Old and the New. The Old was a shadow, the New is perfect. In the Old, it was "an eye for an eye", but in the New, "Vengeance belongs to God". I have read the Koran and I have seen the folly of Mohammad. He copied some things from the Old Testament and twisted them to suit his bloody revolutions. Study the Chapter titled "Miriam" and you discover the how careless Mohammad was.

He clearly stated that "Miriam the Mother of Jesus was sister of Aaron". This was a lie. The two Miriams were different and lived in different generations. The mother of Jesus, was different from the sister of Aaron though both had the same name.
http://answering-islam.org/Responses/Menj/sister_of_aaron.htm

Did you mention the crusaders?
That is the tragedy of marrying the state and religion. If you guys know what you are doing, then you must separate your religion from the state. How do you impose sharia laws on non moslems? I don't drink alcohol but I don't have the right to arrest or beat up a man who drinks it. The tragedy of Islam is the tragedy when the state and religion cannot be separate. Can you explain to me the "Miss World" riots during the OBJ days? The miss world stuff was not a religious fair: it was the state. Why would moslems go on rampage? You have the right to practice your religion and I have mine, why must your right include forcing other people with threats, violence and deaths?

Did you say Islam preach peace? The "peace" in Islam is only when all the "infidels" are brought under "submission".

Finally, you have refused to answer my questions: I need answers not rhetorics please. I have asked some questions, yet let me repeat them for emphasis.

I am particularly interested in the beheading of my kinsman Akaluaka in Kano over an allegation that a woman in his compound used a torn Koran to clean up her baby. I need answers why Akaluka had to be slaughtered beheaded like a goat and his head put on a spike was paraded on the streets of Kano.

Tell me why a Christian teacher was killed in cold blood by minors because she seized a copy of the Koran used by one of the "faithfuls of Allah" to cheat in an exam. I need answers as to what those kids were thought. Jesus! I am weeping all over again. My heart is heavy.

Please I need answers! I need answers why Christians were attacked and hacked to death, churches and properties were burnt because a preacher named Rheinhard Bonke was coming to Kano to preach. Did you say Islam is not violent?

My Friend, how come that the bulk of the religious violence happens in the North where Moslems are in Majority?
I need answers not rhetorics!
My friend you have just succeded in schooling an ignorant one, you will not lose your reward for freeing s soul from destruction. May God (Yahweh) bless you greatly!

It is a common saying all over especially in this country, whenever social vices crop up, the blame is easily transferred to the youths (age 18 – 40)! I belong to the school of thoughts that says; ‘charity begins at home’, these youths learn whatever we see them do from somewhere, if it’s not from their parents as a result of hereditary habits and lack of proper upbringing, then it is from their peers (who also come from a home) or the strong influence of their environment. Indeed, if the truth must be told, it is the adults (over 50s) that are to blame for whatever vices that cut across this country.

tomakint: Just a question that seems to be bothering my heart! Why? People lay claim to the fact that they can do anything for love, but in the real sense of it, it is not always true. Is it really possible for humans to do anything for love?
Humans are ruled by Instinct and Emotion, from these two come our Freewill (our voluntary actions toward others). We choose to love or hate! The instinctive part of love is more frequent with our female folks than the males. Why? A woman can just fall in love with a guy for no obvious reason or reason that may sound stupid to a guy, it happens with the guys too but not as frequent and much as with ladies, this is the truth (I know we try to hide this part of love, many people call it infatuation or lust, but you will agree with me they are all subsets of LOVE)! Love is defined as an emotion (or feeling) of strong affection and personal attachment towards oneself and others! Of course, the definitions of love varies, it is not tied down on one definition. You can see Love as an action towards others based on compassion and affection that is just the way it is! By the Natural Law of LOVE, the first person you fall in love with is yourself but when it comes to sharing that love with somebody else (no matter how you claim you love that fellow) the selfish interest in man coupled with the FEAR (will he or she love me the way I did?) factor now rears its head. Love has recorded so many tales of woes that it’s so difficult to mend many broken hearts. The most important thing about love is genuineness of hearts towards each other or one another and contentment. As humans, these are tall orders and seem impossible most times. Music, books, poems about love are in their countless numbers, in actual fact no subject have come under serious scrutiny other than love yet many people (including myself) have come under the stinging effects of LOVE as we see it in this LIFE! The problem with people is that LOVE is divine, special, tender! On the other side, we humans are created with limitations love is not, we are finite beings love is infinite; therefore you are supposed to love like humans with your limitations and not like ANGELS or the SUPERPOWERS. When I say limitations, you know what you can take and not take as a person operate along this terrain and you will be glad you did. WOMEN are not properties; they are for us MEN to be LOVED!

Any real yoruba person knows that yekini is a muslim name (abdul yekeen) and not a yoruba name.

Besides, some of those ebira folks do bear yoruba names like Alao,Oniwon,Aina,Lola etc

So drop your useless insinuations. They are irritating.

PS: Your username though yoruba sounding irritates my ears. I'd appreciate if you could use something more friendly to the ear. Thanks.
oooooohh! aaaaaaaaaggggg!! I beg no kill me with lafta here, Oh my God I am chokin. Are you insinuating that not even your dog will bear that name! you too funny!
Politics › On Nigeria’s (dis)unity by tomakint(op): 12:38pm On Aug 11, 2012
I don’t know of any country that had fought civil war twice or thrice but I can tell of Nigeria that in the not-too-far distance, these pockets of ethno-religious clashes coupled with genocide happening here and there in the country against a particular religion sect, will get to a climax and the expected will HAPPEN – DISINTEGRATION!

I have always view Nigeria like a “small land jewel” in a sea of humanity, having a tough time due to political pressures and human encroachments which are virtually represented in all parts of the federation. Nigeria is a land where pretense reigns supreme especially on the part of our so-called leaders. Our “Colonial Masters” actually started it by planting the ‘seed of discord’ and use our post independence leaders to water that seed to maturity. One thing you can’t separate from this country is the spirit of discrimination, anywhere you turn; offices, homes, recreational centres, schools, churches, mosques, in the buses, taxis, trains, airplanes, shopping malls, market-places, etc. I know discrimination is all over the world, in actual fact it will live and die with mankind! Unfortunately, discrimination in Nigeria’s context is very different from what obtains elsewhere in the world, ours is a discrimination that is borne out of intense feelings of inborn animosity and total lack of respect, trust among us. Initially, we co-exist like brothers and sisters, with absolute respect for one another’s customs and traditions but after the invasions of the whites in the early 19th Century the story has totally changed bringing us to where we are now – Precarious Situation!

They (our colonial masters) knew we cannot co-exist as a political entity (unification of Southern Nigeria to Northern Nigeria), but because of greed on our natural resources they choose to unite us on falsehood and use our leaders as ready made tools to achieve their selfish purposes. The smart and business minded Igbos and the clever Yorubas were feared and strictly monitored while the nomadic and conservative Hausa-Fulanis were largely preferred as anointed people they can use to establish there presence in a post-independence Nigeria. The more reason we have them (Hausa-Fulani) ruling us for 38 years out of our almost 52 years of Independence! Indeed, Ojukwu is not only a national hero, but a global force to reckon with anywhere in the world injustice against the defenseless is being carried out – Rest in Perfect Peace! Awolowo is not only a national hero, but a global force to reckon with anywhere free education in the world is mentioned – Rest in Perfect Peace! Nigeria, a name given by a girl friend to Lord Lugard, deserves her peace which must be worked out now before it becomes convoluted. Lord Lugard, the inglorious founder of British Nigeria, who favoured the docile orthodox Muslim North over the whole entity called Nigeria, rendered the first political imbalance to us.

Whatever is based on falsehood will not stand the test of time; the foundation of Nigeria is a typical example of that. My point!

tomakint: Just a question that seems to be bothering my heart! Why? People lay claim to the fact that they can do anything for love, but in the real sense of it, it is not always true. Is it really possible for humans to do anything for love?
Nairalanders, we need to be reasonable here and not be rash with our emotions!
The question is individualistic in view and it says;

Can you do anything for love? No (by my own conviction)

Why? Because I am human (I am created with limitations)

Why? Love is great but not as great as Fear (love in human language is gauge by the influence of fear)

Can you explain? It’s a kind of paradox (self-contradictory statement), because when your emotions is ruled by fear (whether of known or known) everything (especially other emotions) else pales into insignificance unlike love where it can still entertain other emotions concurrently.

Still confused? When you love someone, you expect the person to love you back! Simply put, when a man falls in love with a woman or vice versa, you expect him or her to love you back, but if he or she fails the fear of losing him or her to someone else crops up in your heart, and then follows; jealousy, hatred, envy, bitterness and may lead to anything from there.

Can you do anything for the woman you love? Yes and No

Why? Yes, in as much it is within my reach and No, if it’s beyond me.

The whole object of this is based on the erroneous doctrine that LOVE IS BLIND (when actually it is the players in the game that are BLIND) at times a simple but stern NO is all that is required to keep the fire of love burning but we rather compromise just to please the other partner while we burn inside with regrets and this ought not to be so. MY POINT!

Politics › North Again? No, Not Again! by tomakint(op):
No matter how hard a DONKEY work he can never become a HORSE! Trust me on this one; it is the wish of every donkey to become a horse. If the Northern Hegemony of yesteryears (of course, they are history now) have held us (Southern Nigeria) bound for donkey years without any meaningful contributions from this backward region (Northern Nigeria, especially the western and eastern north of today) to the country, then any form of utterance in the likes of; “Power must return to the North by 2015” is nothing but an empty rant that will never see the light of the day! I wouldn’t mind giving it all what it takes to sensitize as many as possible and even revealing many dark secrets especially the ones existing between the blood-sucking, human-demons of north and the British government. Definitely, I don’t have problems with my south-south and south-east fellow country men and women! My problems and headaches are some YORUBA elites who seem to have been cursed from the beginning to always betray one another and even sacrifice their people for their rapacious appetites! At this juncture, any Yoruba monarchs, elites, commoners who in any form are trying to pitch their tents with the North in any forthcoming elections will NEVER know PEACE (AMEN)! The blood of the innocent Southerners (from those innocent corps members helping their almajiris voluntarily, poor Christian villagers in Plateau up to the clergy men of various Churches) these bastards have shed will never allow them to know PEACE! No matter how wo-wo Jonathan’s government is, he is still way ahead of any Northern candidate. Not even the United States will move forward if they have these backward-reasoning, megalomaniacs as neighbours – they have been our perennial problems!

What some Yoruba Obas did during Abacha’s regime by watching the controversial video of Gen. Diya’s phantom coup will forever remain a stigma on them (the likes of Ooni, Oba of Lagos etc). They even said Diya deserves whatever judgment is meted out to him, all in the name of MONEY and used the moment to campaign openly for Abacha! If the North should succeed in ruling this country after being the cesspool of moral depravities (homosexual habits among their elite class is so rife) and region sponsoring sophisticated insecurities now spreading gradually to other parts then I have every right to conclude that Nigeria does not deserve to exist any longer as a nation or country. The worst of us cannot be ruling the best of us! Let them go and take care of their Almajiris, feed their poor, educate their perverted minds, learn to be tolerant, be reasonable and be peace loving. I am yet to see any credible Northerner that has contributed meaningfully well to the development of this great country, every forms of developments have always come from Southern Nigeria citizens. The truth is, we (Southern part) don’t need them (Northern part), they don’t need us! The Southern part will forever be the HORSE and the Northern part will forever remain the DONKEY no matter how hard they (the North) try! North Again? Oh no, not again!

Politics › State Police: The Prelude To A Disintegrated Nigeria? by tomakint(op): 12:21pm On Aug 07, 2012
Under a true federalism state, state police is a welcome development to the polity especially in developed countries. In a developing country like Nigeria, where true federalism is not practiced it may turn out to be a volatile issue except there is proper handling of it. Indeed, if there is anything that is very likely to come out of this initiative, it will likely be the final break-up of this country. State police is good and I must confess it’s coming in at the right time. Nigeria police needs to be broken into smaller units to serve us better. Nigeria is too big for a federal police and for one Inspector-General to be answerable to all the cases and challenges attached to the activities of the Police in all the states of the country; truly it’s an arduous task. If the benefits of having state police is to be itemized you will agree with me that it is indeed a good thing for us right from getting adequate information and gathering intelligence, prompt attention to prevention of crimes, language familiarities to efficient security. Truly, the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages even in Nigerian context! However, this is Nigeria, a land of “where anything can happen”. Opponents of this initiative have argued against its success, especially in the hands of politicians (especially Governors) who might use them as ready-made tools to perpetrate crimes ranging from electoral malpractices to victimization of oppositions in the state which is very likely to lead to chaos. My take on this development is that police in each state must be answerable to an officer appointed by the Inspector-General of Police and he (the appointed officer) must report back to the I.G and not to the Governor, I think this will limit the influence and autonomy of the Governors also known as Chief Security Officers of the state, which is good.

However, with the spate of insecurities and the level of distrusts amidst our leaders that cut across all the regions of this country, I see this motive as a silent preparation for our eventual break-up. You want to ask why? State police in Nigeria context is more like having a Yoruba officer in Yoruba speaking states, Igbo officer in Igbo speaking states, Hausa officer in Hausa speaking states and so on and so forth, gradually taking us to the First Republic experiments (Tribal Sentiments). It is my prayer that if Nigeria is going to break up (which I foresee happening), let it be a bloodless and painless one.

I have always see Jonathan as a President destined to take Nigeria through this process, because with 2015 approaching, the North will give it all what it takes to see power going back to their hands which I doubt they will ever let go again which is even more dangerous because Nigerians are wiser now!
