Hi Nairalanders, I just stumbled on the following words, let me know if you find them worthy, of course they don't exist at the moment but I felt should, happy studying; 1. AQUADEXTROUS: (ak wa deks’ trus) adj. Possessing the ability to turn the bathtub tap on and off with your toes. 2. CARPERPETUATION: (kar’ pur pet u a shun) n. The act, when vacuuming, of running over a string or a piece of lint at least a dozen times, reaching over and picking it up, examining it, then putting it back down to give the vacuum one more chance. 3. DISCONFECT: (dis kon fekt’) v. To sterilize the piece of confection (lolly) you dropped on the floor by blowing on it, assuming this will somehow ‘remove’ all the germs. 4. ELBONICS: (el bon’ iks) n. The actions of two people maneuvering for one armrest in a movie theater. 5. FRUST: (frust) n. The small line of debris that refuses to be swept onto the dustpan and keeps backing a person across the room until he finally decides to give up and sweep it under the rug. 6. LACTOMANGULATION: (lak’ to man gyu lay’ shun) n. Manhandling the “open here” spout on a milk container so badly that one has to resort to the ‘illegal’ side. 7. PEPPIER: (peph ee ay’) n. The waiter at a fancy restaurant whose sole purpose seems to be walking around asking diners if they want fresh ground pepper. 8. PHONESIA: (fo nee’ zhuh) n. The affliction of dialing a phone number and forgetting whom you were calling just as they answer. 9. PUPKUS: (pup’kus) n. The moist residue left on a window after a dog presses its nose to it. 10. TELECRASTINATION: (tel e kras tin ay’ shun) n. The act of always letting the phone ring at least twice before you pick it up, even when you’re only six inches away. |
Una be fool: You are excited about nairaland. Good for you! I was once in your shoes but the whole of your love for nl would die off few minutes after you get ban for little or no offense. I promise, you gana hate it with all your lifeI dont think so pal, perhaps those who get banned, are banned for a reason or the other, are you aware some nairalanders have turned this forum into a place where personal scores are settled with faceless opponents? Hence, the barrage of strong words! May be that's why some folks get banned! My point |

There is a secret to every break-up in every Marriage, most times couples don’t divulge the real causes of their break-ups to third parties, they simply tell you what they feel you should hear and bottle the rest! Indeed, after the two (husband and wife) have been joined together, a new chapter has just began in the life of two different persons who need all the wisdoms at their disposal to make it right perhaps for the rest of their lives irrespective of their shortcomings. Considering the topic, it is always very sad when the cause of some break-ups is premised on, “My husband is a flop in bed”, “My husband can’t go beyond one round, even that one round is not up to 2 minutes”, “My husband is simply impotent as far as I am concerned”, “My wife is a nymphomaniac”, “My wife is genophobic (excessive fear of love-making)” the list goes on! It is generally accepted that for a marriage to be legally complete it must be consummated (this involves preparedness)! Why? Because what do you expect from a nympho jamming a genophobic man and vice-versa? The answer is likely to be an eventual break-up! I think a man is expected to satisfy her woman in this aspect, because so many homes have been destroyed as a result of lack of it. It takes stamina, perseverance and commitment for a man to be a man in the game of love-making. But how long is a man expected to go, in order to bring a broad smile upon the face of that beautiful woman he is married to, 2mins, 3mins, 4mins, 5mins………30mins? Trust me on this one, the lack of adequate love making in many Marriages has made many women to look elsewhere, could it be said that the foundations of those Marriages was not based on LOVE? |
The numbers of innocent lives wasted by the barbaric regime of chameleonic Yakubu Gowon during the unfortunate genocide on easterners deserves absolute compensation! Unfortunately no one is looking at it from that angle; God is a God of justice! I strongly believe that all nations in this world are all in God’s plan and He alone can destroy one and raise up another. Yakubu Gowon took over an illegal government and because of oil (based on dictates from the demonic British warlords), he was pretending to keep Nigeria as one thereby wasting away more than 2 millions innocent and defenseless Igbo women and children. If Nigerians think the death of these ones means nothing then we all should think again. Look at the Igbos today, despite the fact that they were decimated in their populations, set back by almost half a century economically, traumatized emotionally, grounded locally still rose up on their feet and dust off these sentiments to give us; Dr Chu Okongwu, Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Dr Paul Ogwuma, Dr Charles Soludo, Mr Innocent Chukwuma, Kanu Nwankwo, Professor Achebe, Dr (Mrs) Obiageli Ezekwesili, Flora Nwakpa (first Nigerian female author), Chinyere Onyemachara (first Nigerian Woman Pilot), Ben Gbulie, Dr Phillip Emegwali, Dr Udo Udoma, Professor Humphrey Nwosu, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, Dr (Mrs) Ndi Onyuike-Okereke, the list is endless! I stand to be corrected, no other tribes have given this country so much brains as the Igbos not even the Yorubas (check your records) in a modern Nigeria! We (those who fought against the just cause of the Igbos) as a people cannot pretend that we have not cheated our Igbo brothers and sisters! Ojukwu is dead, but without any iota of doubt his legacy lives on and you know a hero when he is buried (reflect on that about Dim Ojukwu, and you’ll know what I am talking about)! Biafra is still kicking and alive, the pains and agonies they were unnecessarily subjected to is still with them today and tomorrow. The Pretender in Command, Yakubu Gowon is alive and seems to claim Ojukwu was the villain has yet to bury his ego and apologize to the Biafrans, fortunately we all will die one day and when that day comes, all what is in the secret will be revealed for all to see! After Awolowo (a sage and indeed a great man) Ojukwu comes next in Nigerians that I know that were immortalized in death! Nigeria is indeed filled with pretending, hypocritical leaders that offers sanctimonious services just to cover ups their shady pasts! Truly, Biafrans deserve our sympathies and a duly work out REPARATION! |
HNosegbe: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/aug/27/taliban-behead-17-afghan-partygoersIslamic Nations and their nonsense? Afterward, they will say Islam is a Religion of Peace! Any correlation to this? |

The departments (although called categories) range from politics, family, romance, sports, science and technology to religion. Nairaland, a creation of Seun Osewa had browbeaten every other online news outlet in Nigeria and even Africa into subterfuges. Virtually, all subjects the world and nature of mankind can offer have been brought to the threshing machine of Nairaland for proper scrutinies and thorough analyses. Nairaland is on world map, hence its members can pride themselves on that as being “Internationally connected” (just google any nairalander’s usernames you will understand). Most of the hotly debated topics have been on the politics category. Politics is the essence of living, because man is a political animal, hence, mankind ways of life revolves around politics be it at homes, places of worships, schools, offices etc. In the normal University setting, you have to specialize in a field of study and after a while you must graduate, unlike the University of Nairaland – you don’t graduate and never will because you keep learning. This great University (Nairaland) has succeeded in providing answers to many members’ personal puzzles and even serves as platforms for research on any topics that have been presented on the forum. I must confess, Nairaland have been a blessing to me especially in the area of my intelligence and Nigerian political history updates. One good thing about the University of Life is that you keep learning till you finally bow out, and Nairaland is no exception! To all Nairalanders, I encourage all to make good use of the opportunities in this great forum, because some of the information posted on this forum are eternal, you may never get them elsewhere because the facts are poured out in their raw forms. Indeed, Nairaland is worth much more than a University! I wish all the best in life! |
Larufa: The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced that it is going to introduce a N5,000 note into the system. There are more than 1,001 reasons we should be concerned with this demonic and unwholesome move by the CBN Governor, He is indirectly saying in a clear tone language that, “come 2013, Nigeria will become a place strictly for the rich” and where do the masses fall? Definitely, the masses are not in their plans, what a way to go! At a time unemployment is at its highest, astronomical rises in prices of common goods, insecurities, surging population pressure, devaluation of our currency, inflations, lack of basic amenities in our urban areas, underdevelopments in rural areas, uncontrolled brain drains, a staggering GDP, workers paid in dribs and drabs, alarming crime rates among the youths, tensions about the unity of the country soaring ominously, and many more. The only thing Mallam (indeed he is a Mallam) Sanusi can think of is to take us back to the prehistoric age economically so that those legislooters (he was trying to appease as a result of the autonomy clause they were threatening to remove from his office) can have bundles of =N=5,000 notes bundles to spray at their wild parties on ladies of easy virtues. These were the same rogues Sanusi accused last year (2011), of spending 25% (imagine that) of the recurrent expenditure of the country’s budget on their own overheads! What do you expect immediately =N=5, =N=10 and =N=20 are changed into coins, of course they pale into insignificance, meaning your pure water sachet, bread, garri will definitely turn to essential commodities……but why are these guys so heartless? I mean there are more than enough reasonable things to fix (as listed above) instead of a trivial thing like this. Oh my God! What a country governed by Ignoramus!!! The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of a country is the yardstick for measuring how rich and poor a country is. It is the broadest measure of aggregate economic activity and encompasses every sector of the economy or simply put, the total value of goods and services produced in a country. If GDP grows at a higher rate than the population, standards of living are said to be rising. If the population is growing at a higher rate than GDP, living standards are said to be falling. Think about this, there has not been any reasonable change in our GDP right from 1960 at least when one put into consideration the exchange rate. For instance, our balance-of-payments problem was revealed in the foreign trade figures for 1960. In that year exports were valued at £161,000,000 and imports at £215,000,000. Thus, there was a trade deficit of over £50,000,000, compared to about £20,000,000 in 1959 and £31,000,000 in 1958. Is it different from what we have today? Are we not spending more on imports than what we realize from exports? In the year 1958 it was on record that, Nigeria was the world's largest exporter of groundnuts, palm oil, and palm kernels, but what is our story today? In today’s world the GDP is based on 3 sub-units namely; (i) Agriculture, forestry and fishing; (ii) Industry (manufacturing, mining, construction and transportation) and (iii) Services (sector catering for small and medium scale industries - entrepreneurs). Unfortunately, the services sector that we ought to give a big boost to is jettisoned for unnecessary over spending on capital expenditures in our budgets. Note: A higher percentage in Service over Industry is a sign of a growing and matured economy while a higher percentage in Industry over Service is a sign of an ailing economy. The question is where are we today? Of course, an ailing economy! Indeed, this is what you get when a Mallam is your CBN Governor! |

All is now set for the UEFA Best Player in Europe come August 30th in Monaco! The Inaugural edition of this award in 2011 formerly called the Ballon d’Or was won by Lionel Messi. For the 2012 edition, three nominees have been shortlisted namely; Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. It is expected that 53 journalists will decide the fate of the eventual winner come August 30th in Monaco when the draw for the Champions League Group Stage will be made. Who do you think will clinch this prestigious award? As for me my vote is with LIONEL MESSI! |
Larufa: The Central Bank of Nigeria has announced that it is going to introduce a N5,000 note into the system.Another nonsense in the making and a big time open doors to more crimes of the highest order! Finally Sanusi has taken Nigeria to the cleaners financially! |
hannydarl: Cos their fathers taught them never to consider women as humans . Go read many topics from our guys On NL.Well, you have a big point there, most of we (African men) are raised to be Male Chauvinist, hence most of the men who refused to grow up, treat women like properties (this is wrong). Most times we (men) turn women to what they are today....very very sad indeed |
Before I explain this mystery (yes mystery because you will really marvel why it is so real). Indeed, marriage is for LIFE try to stick together as ONE! I will explain the fingers first, and then a practical illustration will follow! Fingers Thumb – Your Parents 2nd or Index finger (the one next to your thumb) – Your siblings Middle finger (the longest one) – Yourself 4th finger – Your spouse Little finger – Your children Practical Illustration Step1: Open you palm face to face, and match your fingers together tips for tips! Step 2: Now bend your middle fingers (keep them together) while still maintaining the tips contact of the other fingers! Step 3: Try to separate the thumbs, index and little fingers one after the other and you will see it will be possible. The reasons are not far-fetched because your parents, siblings and children are not meant to be with you forever, at a point, there will be a time of separation either from you or them! Step 4: Now try to separate your 4th finger and tell me your observations! Really, separating from the one you claimed you so much love under whatever excuse should not be an option worth considering, why not try to work it out? I think if one can just bury your ego for the other, you may be astonished at what a little, “I am sorry, I was wrong” (even when you are the one who is right) can fix! Happy reading and I wish you a happy married life (for the married ones) and for those who are yet to marry, you can prepare your heart for the journey ahead. If you care to have the video you can send a request to my email, tomakinta@gmail.com and consider it done. GOD BLESSES ALL!!! |

djeezy: @poster, most? So how did you arrive at that statistics? To me I think your post is an ipse dixit. Mayhap you can tell us your substratum for your claim.@ djeezy, I love your choice of words, you must be a scholar in vocabulary, trust me I have to check my dictionary for ipse dixit (something alleged), mayhap (an extinct word for perhaps, Prof. you no need that one now) and substratum (essential substance of something). Back to your question, there are mayhap (**grin**) over 500,000 females here in Nairaland, and you want me to assume they are speaking the minds of over 60 million Nigerian females? Tell me what’s the substratum in that? So dude, it’s not an ipse dixit, if you assume it to be so, then I am in that position too with the females here who are saying YES in reverse! Guys with nice hairy chest, this is an open challenge (how I wish I am hairy-chested) to you all, see how these babes they fall your hands, like say to get hair for chest na disease! |
cindyrella: Me like Hairy-chested men? Maka why na?@ cindyrella, don’t worry I understand very well you actually meant NO in reverse! What is wrong with hairy-chested guys? And tell me why I won’t count you in! |
berem: Wetin I wan use hairy chest do? Na food? Its disgusting to me anyway especially during love making.I will rather go for guys with biceps than a guy with hairy chest.Nigerian ladies and there funny ways of life, sometimes you wonder if they were created to be like that or they just choose to be like that (sarcastic)! I mean @ berem, what do you make out from this? ‘It’s disgusting to me anyway especially during love making’ and the next thing (after being shagged by a heavily, hairy-chested guy), “I will rather go for guys with biceps than a guy with hairy chest”. ** nod head in confusion**. Back to the object of this post, @ berem, you definitely love them (mind you, Rhino.5dm is heavily endowed in that area). Nairalanders babes? You no fit understand dem. |
HNosegbe: http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2012/08/22/adamawa-least-developed-nigerian-state/As far as I am concerned nothing good can come from that God-forsaken place called Core-North. Just look at the way they behave and check out that religion and the numbers of countries they have populated and see if there is any meaningful development in there. These are my observations on the Core North so far; I will like to be specific now, just follow me; 1) About 30% of the Core North are disabled beggars; 2) About 10% of the Core North are able-bodied beggars (Almajiris); 3) About 15% of the Core North are graduates (be it BSC, Masters and PhD holders); 4) About 30% of the Core North are gainfully employed (despite having a mere 15% who are graduates, making the remaining 15% ghost workers); 5) About 10% of the Core North are self-employed (starting from your mai-suya, mai-tea, ram sellers, money-changers, traders etc); 6) While the remaining 5% of the Core North consists of the following (your elders, those few elite class controlling your destinies, the unknown several business men, your few second Royal Fathers and those politicians) Now tell me what is GOOD about your CORE NORTH? I am waiting………………….. N.B: When I say CORE NORTH I mean the following states; Adamawa (North), Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna (North), Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Niger (North), Sokoto, Yobe and Zamfara. |

legendprac: I personally believe that for every lady out there that is aged and still unmarried, that there are series of mistakes she made with respect to men when she was younger, thinking beauty and age will always be on her side...Mr, I beg to differ, you are totally wrong on this one! I am a man, and the way I understand marriage is that before anything at all, compatibility comes first, and most ladies cannot afford to walk the path of their friends or older siblings who have encounter terrible things in marriage all in the name of 'age is not on my side'! Come to think of it, most of we guys see ladies as sex objects which is not supposed to be so, and you expect ladies to just jump into the arms of every guys they see? No Sir! My point: Ladies are not to blame in most cases (of course, few of them have the blames) but I still believe we guys are the major culprits on this one! |
slimyem: MOST??Exactly what I am expecting from you baby, but if you have ever been around this country especially the eastern and south south parts you will understand this post better, trust me most ladies (yes I mean it, most) fall in love with hairy guys! |
blaqoracle: Don't waste your time, the northern nigeria has a population..far more than that of southern nigeriaTrust me your assertion here may look like 'living in the spirit of the past' as entrenched in our system by the wicked British. Take a look around and do your statistics very well, Christians are far far more now! I hope I have not offended you by this noble and gospel truth? |
NobleAngell: Its either gospels or anyfin Lil wayne.Good taste in gospel, but Lil wayne? Sorry, I am just trying to figure out how you marry the two together! Well, goodluck! |
It has come to my notice and based on questions sampled from people around that most Nigerian women love hairy guys especially at the chest parts. I know most of my south-eastern and south-south guys are naturally endowed in this case unlike guys from the south west. The reason is quite strange because to me it’s not convincing enough, most ladies (Nigerian) if you ask them will tell you they just love them (hairy guys), perhaps it projects a sort of true masculine posture, or shows a sign of strength, or care or whatever it is. I just want to know why most ladies seem to be smitten at the sight of hairy-chested guys! Unlike what obtains in most developed countries (United States and Europe) where hairless guys especially at the chest regions are most admired by ladies. |
The 80s will go down in modern history as the years of RENAISSANCE IN MUSIC no doubt! There is no country in the world that did not have a fair share (besides United States that had more than a share) of musical geniuses’ ambassadors especially in the 80s. The 80s gave us the highest selling album of all time (over 110 million copies sold till date) in the history of modern music, Thriller, a pop-genre music by Michael Jackson (of blessed memory) a black man, produced by another black man, Quincy Jones (a man with a record 79 Grammy nominations)! The 80s was the era of smashing hits cascading into the planet in an unprecedented manner never before seen; little wonder the adage, “nothing like the 80s”! From disco (although evolved in the late 60s but blossomed in the mid 70s till date), pop, blues, funk, rock, rap, jazz, soul, world beats, reggae down to country music it was hits galore that serenaded Mother Earth! The waves of pop competing rigorously with disco and reggae was indeed at an alarming rate. To be the best, you have to beat the best was the order of the day! Lyrical contents, video deliveries (include dance steps, costumes and choreographies), synchronization of beats, rhymes, videos messages (contents were self-explanatory), richness of melodies, all add glamour and senses to how good music should be made. Originalities were seriously considered as a must in the production of music. For those of us who witnessed the 80s will remember that Radio Lagos and Lagos Television (LTV) was a regular in keeping us (the listeners) in tuned with the latest hits across the globe from the United States, United Kingdom, Caribbean, Jamaica, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, down to Africa. It was the era Music made sense! Looking at music now, you are almost concluding that what is happening to good music? It’s all decorated noise in the name of music, they are tasteless, no flavor especially Nigerian music in the name of Naija hip-hops, pack them together it’s almost (if not all) piece of gibberish. It’s all about girls, girls, lewdnesses in videos, mediocrities in all spheres, no reasonable lyrical contents but incoherent and almost baseless beats. Indeed, cacophonies have been used to represent real music. You are almost asking yourself where are the, King Sunny Ades, Ebenezer Obeys, Felas, Kollington Ayinlas, Sikiru Ayinde Barristers, KWAM 1s, Onyeka Onwenus, Evi Edna Ogholis, Christy Essien Igbokwes, Orlando Julius Ekemodes, Ayinla Omowuras, Victor Olaiyas, Oliver de Coques, Sonny Okosuns, Osadebes, Funmi Davies, Funmi Aragbaiyes, Veno Marioghaes, the Mandators, Dizzy K. Falolas, Princess Bunmi Olajubus, Sunshine Sisters, Carol Bridis, Stella Monyes, Dora Ifudus, Uche Ibetos, Alex Os, Bright Chimezies, Alex Zittos, Blackkys, Majek Fasheks, Mike Okris, Orits Wilikis, Ras Kimonos, Lijadu Sisters, Daniel Wilsons, Felix Lebartys, Chris Hanens of today? Truly, the list is endless! If one is to consider the few still holding forte today in real music that makes sense, then you will consider a Femi Kuti, a Tuface, a Lagbaja, an Asa, a Nigga Raw, may be a 9ice, and a handful. And the rest? Don’t even mention them! God help us! They call them old schools, but I prefer the term ‘evergreen songs,’ because good music does not die! |
They say it is debasing, animalistic and very dehumanizing, but why do men (frustrated ones) engage in this illicit act on defenseless women? What's your take on this? |
