SFSNIPER: Hello.... I want my younger sister to relocate to Canada permanently but I don't even know where to start. She has a degree(2.2) in history and she is a great tailor. Thank you for your assistance.
CSTR2: It is very straightforward to enter Canada.
Though the irony is that the kind of people that Canada wants from Nigeria are comfortable enough not to travel.
I know a software engineer working at MTN. The guy just decided to apply for immigration like a casual thing. He didn't even take it serious. He was lethargic about the whole thing.
But Canada called him within six months of application, while many people were still in the express entry pool waiting for years. He was even thinking if he should go or not.
CSTR2: One thing I have discovered about Canada is that if you don't deserve to be there, you would live worse than a rat.
That is why they created a system where they can bring people that actually deserves to be there through their education, work experience, and skills so they can contribute to society and improve their lives quickly.
If you go to Canada and you don't deserve to be there, you would hate yourself. They don't even need to deport you.
So instead of trying to enter anyhow, take the years and make yourself deserving of Canada.
Thats anywhere my dear. Canada, US and UK. You won't be entitled to nothing (e.g. benefits) if you don't enter the countries legally. People who live in the UK and US illegally are always looking over their shoulder. Which is just not worth it tbh. I don't understand why people would rather lie than just take the express entry exam. Canada actually wants people as oppose to the UK and US who don't offer these sort of things.
Sadly, it seems like people are using this excuse a lot because I actually know of a family that are presently in Canada and have used this same excuse.
Dollywood: I heard Canada is one hell of a boring country, so how do u guys cope with the boredom in the country?Do u guys watch movies or play video games? I just wanna hear from you guys
This may sound a lil corny but if want to make more friends and have fun maybe you should find a Nigerian church. It's probably a good place to start.
Naijaforeigner: I just checked how much I spent from January till date on buying Tim Hortons (double double) and timbits... I realized I have spent close to $500. At least $2 5 times a week on coffee and timbits.
Please who is on this table with me and how can we break this addiction? That old fashion timbits by Tim Hortons is the biggest weakness I have at the moment. Everywhere you go in Canada, Tim Hortons all up in your face.
Thank God I don’t smoke or do alcohol, if not ehn, na only God know how much those ones for Dey take as well.
Happy Sunday.
Lol Maybe you should go to Walmart and see if you can find alternative brand for cheaper.
I'm so happy I read your post. I had no idea that airlines like Emirates give hotel vouchers to people who spend 23 hours in transit. I also had no idea Canada did Prestco cards, wow! I live in the UK. We call it Oyster card, its basically serves the same purpose as Prestco cards. Congratulations on everything! Canada sounds really nice!
DatechMan: Guys please let's be careful with our phone plan selection. Especially when it comes to data overage and long distance charges. A friend just got a monthly phone bill of $800. I am sure he is in severe pain.
gogedda: Finally landed 2 weeks ago as a single man. Passed through Immigration and customs without no problem in MMIA. Both Luggage were over 23 kg while carry on was over 7 kg. The guys at Ethiopian airline stand allowed me to add more weight to the carry on to make it 12kg while the luggages were left at 25kg each. Trip to Adisabba was long, and then Dublin and then Toronto. Couldn't eat the food served in the plane, only ate the bread and Red wine. Landed on Saturday, went through immigration and customs in Toronto without any problem and then the final leg of the journey to Calgary. I am currently staying with a friend who is married. I have done my SIN, Health Card, bought a sim, visited 2 immigration services (CCIS and Mustard seed ministry) in downtown. I was able to get a reduced bus pass for the month of June and paid $37.5 instead of $104 or so. If you are less than 30yrs, You can visit CCIS, they have a 2 weeks employment training. I met a Nigerian there and he told me about the training and also showed me his check . If you attend it without missing a class , they will pay you $900. I couldn't do it cos I am over that age. I have also learnt the bus and train route system after downloading the Calgary transit app. I am also currently studying for the Alberta driver's license exam. Both fields that I have experience in (Geoscience & Real estate )are licensed here, so I am currently looking for a job while I prepare to do a 2 yrs course in SAIT. Please kindly link me up if you have any. Thanks
Cyberknight: I could live in one room in Hackney or Brixton (Ajegunle) if I were all alone.
I know you don't mean any harm by what you've written but in terms of housing Brixton is not cheap anymore oo. In fact it's been gentrified so naturally the prices of one bedrooms have gone up. However, in terms of crime I totally understand and agree with your sentiments.
And it is a follow-up to this article in the Wall Street Journal:
President Trump and his top aides are weighing rules designed to clamp down on countries whose nationals overstay short-term visitor visas as part of a broader push for new ways to curb immigration.
nextstep: Na Nigerians dey fall our own hands... nobody is supposed to "make things easy for us". Did you know Koreans and Japanese can visit USA visa-free for 90 days? This happened due to their own hard work to build their economy. It's like we want to eat yam from our backyard but don't want to plant and weed the farm.
Thats so dope. Citizens in the United Kingdom can also visit the US using a waiver. The Waiver last for 90 days too.
Joromi12: does that make any sense Why are nigerians like this self. must we do big wedding. i made the fatal mistake of lending 2 married friends money last year. till date they refused to pay back. one had to do double evacuation after miscarriage and he just paid rent. Another just had a child doing a part time online job his wedding hall alone cost 700k.
nahinbdis: In Nigerian banks, we tie rope to Pens so that customers will not 'thief' it. In Canada, a Bank like RBC leaves umbrellas at corners for customers' use.
We need attitudinal change.
Canada is another level. We don't have these at the banks that I go to in the UK.
