Yugosng: On first look, I was asking same question. The only way I think such a deep "illusion" was achieved was by replicating what is on the back end of the three (what the bark of the tree is blocking) with razor sharp accuracy. By so doing, it blends in perfectly with the background, making you think you are actually seeing through the tree.
