I innocently put up my phone numbers in order to sell my old iphone via NL. Days later a lady disagreed with me over a debate in a rather long thread where views were flying everywhere. She consistently maintained her barrage of unprovoked insults over my- and some other NLers'- personal opinion. I maintained my cool.

But the height of her bitterness was when she started lying to every lady in her CUG that I am a flirt, and that even after creating my topic I still kept sending PMs to South African ladies on and off this forum. A totally unfounded, grievous lie which I considered very grave, admonished her but she kept it coming...

After confronting her lies by giving her the permission to IMMEDIATELY (emphasis) post screenshots evidence, she came up, AFTER A VERY LONG DELAY (almost 24 hours), with a fake chat pointing to my number, which she, of course, stole from my profile (before I took it down after selling the phone recently).

The joy of the matter is that I got her busted when the fabricated chats she finally posted, was bearing JUNE 15th WHEREAS I JOINED NL ON JUNE 17th. Nemesis Lol. I hadn't even bought the Sim then! She was humiliated.

So how do we stay safe, combat blackmailers on NL? Here are the simple tips:

1) Never post/display your numbers or direct email on NL for any reason, whether business or otherwise. Someone might steal it for a nefarious purpose.
2) Never put your selfie on your profile, because in order to perfect (1) above, the blackmailer would put your pix on the fabricated chat. In my own case she left it blank, lol. Whoever chats without even a landscape picture?
3) Always ask for IMMEDIATE evidence when a NLer lies to you about himself/herself or against others. That way they'd have to put in the extra work and cost of lying by being creative with their fabricator-apps. It's called "giving a liar extra work to do with apps", lol.
4) Always remember that this is a faceless forum, laden with its own fair share of people of questionable character; don't give them a cheap cyber tool for blackmail.

NLers would have to judge if it's a crime to "follow" male and females NLers who make intelligent contribution to the forum, not me or you ok. Maybe the guys I follow too qualifies me as gay since my following ladies made you come up with a pathetic lie which shall stand against you on judgement day unless you publicly renounce it.. This lie will guarantee you h3ll fire when you die plus karma on earth. Of course your bitterness won't allow you state here that there are followers on my profile as well.

So why are we debating the impossible? Would your opinion make Saraki resign? Certainly not. Rather than argue whether a politician should resign or not, we should rather ensure that we vote in credible people during election.
