practitioner, Gani Fawehimi,
has lambasted the governors
of Oyo, Ondo and Osun states
over their alleged failure to
develop the states.
He specifically demanded the
impeachment of the governor
of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi,
by the state House of
Assembly.
Mr. Fawehinmi stated this on
Thursday while delivering a
lecture at the Obafemi
Awolowo University, Ile-Ife,
Osun State.
The lecture, entitled “Youths
Impact in Free and Fair
Elections,” which was second
in the series, was organized in
honour of the legal
practitioner, who died in
September 2009.
According to him, the three
south west states have
remained at the same level of
decadence because of the
refusal of the governors to
make any meaningful impact
since the governors assumed
office.
“Oyo State is a shadow of
herself from what it used to
be,” Mr. Fawehimi said.
“Everywhere is very bad and
it is something that is
unbecoming, I clamour for
impeachment of Oyo state
Governor Ajimobi”
“Since he is incapable he
should be impeached from the
government. The last few
years in Oyo has been very
bad. I passed through the
place and I was unhappy.”
He also said there had been
no major improvement in the
State of Osun under Governor
Rauf Aregbesola, “except that when I got
to a part of the state I saw a new statue;
everything looks unchanged, nothing so
new or no improvement.”
He also accused Governor Olusegun
Mimiko for alleged “underperformance.”
Mr. Fawehinmi said but for the efforts
made by the students of the university,
his father would have died without
earning the title of Senior Advocate of
Nigeria.
According to him, it was the students of
the institution who awarded the late
lawyer the title “Senior Advocate of the
Masses,” that they now conferred on him
the prestigious title of SAN.”
He said, “My father would have died a
man without the apex title and would
have being robbed of what he deserves if
not for the effort of OAU Students.
“Nobody knows the role OAU students
played; it would have been miserably
painful for my family.”
Mr. Fawehinmi also accused OAU
management of falling below standard
and not paying attention to areas of needs
of the university.
He claimed that the institution had lost its
glory and could not boast of the standards
it was known for.
“I went to the hostels in your school
(OAU) and it is a shame. When I saw the
living conditions of students, it is even
dangerous for your health as students. It
is time to call the attention of the Federal
Government to the sorry state of this
school.”
The President of OAU Students Union,
Omotayo Akande, criticized the
administration of President Muhammadu
Buhari over its plan to pay N5000 to each
unemployed Nigerian youth.
He said, “We have lots of decadence in
the education sector that needs attention
and all the president can think of is
investment of over one trillion naira in
paying young unemployed graduates,
does he mean graduates are worth just
N5000? He is only compounding woes of
Nigerian youths.”

hello my people ...good morning, there is this Igbo proverb that goes like this " when an aberration or insanity goes on in a place and if not questioned it becomes the norm"

I know some will be dazed, amazed and possibly awed by this submission. I have been pondering why all these killing in name of religion... It still baffles me.

I just don't get this, how can some people claim to be adherents of religion of peace but give the world anarchy and commotion. Is this not saying one thing and doing another thing? The killings are getting out of hand. I think that there is sanctity of life. I am just asking these question when I saw the beheading of a 9yr old child in middle East. As a father I know the emotional,psychological and physiological efforts that you put into training a 9 yr old child and at the end to see her beheaded. A spade should be called a spade. This act is bad and we all sane people should condemn it. I keep asking if it has to do with islam as a religion or the followers as not doing the right thing the holy book instructed them .

I am at this crossroad and quagmire. All I ask is for clarifications . I have taken time to analyse all the bloodbath from kogi to yola then Syria to Paris then to Malaysia and Afghanistan.

Islam kills their fellow Muslim. Shiite killing Sunni
Then kills Christian just like isil is doing in France
They kills Jews for hubby...in short Jews are highly priced

He said that act has denied them the opportunity to be part of the power equation in the country.

Speaking when the Tony Nwoye-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stormed the head­quarters of the ruling party in Abuja yesterday to reg­ister their intent to defect to APC, the party boss said the South East cried more than the bereaved over the outcome of the 2015 presi­dential election.

He, however, commend­ed them for the initiative to be part of forces, which determine the trajectory of the country.

His words: “I welcome you to the headquarters of the APC and I want to em­phasise that we are glad that you have come. However, I want to make it clear that we are not attempting to build a one party nation; far from it.

“We gladly embrace people like you because of the enormity of the task fac­ing this nation and the job of turning it away from the unfortunate many years of indescribable bad govern­ment by those people that misguided the trajectory of this nation.

“I am sure you did not come to join APC because it is now the ruling party but because there is work to be done. You people came from the area we consider as an important sector of this nation. I have close af­finity with the Igbo and I know the capabilities they have.

“I feel particularly pained that you find out that at a stage you put all your eggs in one single basket. It was so bad that even at the post-election, many people in the South-East cried more than the bereaved.

“The South-South even moved ahead and that was why I worked day and night to turn the ship of the South South round so that we can be part of the forces that determine the trajectory of this nation. That is what I precisely wish for the South-East.

“With your coming, other parties in Anambra State are dead because, strictly speaking, there is no other party in Anambra. In the long term, it is going to be APC and PDP but, now that there is no PDP anymore, it is going to be APC all the way.

“We all know that APGA is dead, I pity the governor and I thought you people should have even brought him with you. Your first challenge and assignment when you go back is to convert him,” he rounded off.

I want us to understand that though we are carved into minority states we are not minorities. We are part and parcel of a greater whole which is the IGBO NATION. We wont settle for less in the name of minority because in the event of crisis no body will call us minority, we will always be dealt as igbos not as ndokis,ikwerres,egbemas,ogbas or ndonis. When ijaws was protesting against the long rule of igbos in our dear state(rivers), they did not see it as ikwerre rule or ndoni rule but saw it as an igbo rule. In reference to this i want to categorically state that IGBOS ARE THE LARGEST PRODUCERS OF NIGERIAN CRUDE OIL AND GAS. This can be seen when all the igbo oil wells in abia,imo.anambra,delta and rivers state is sumed up and This is not exclusive to the oil alone igbos are also the largest ethnic group in south south and in the niger delta. This is because when all the igbos in rivers,delta and edo state is added we constitute the largest group in ss and ND.

When germany was divided into east and west germany, it was the responsibility of germans to unite and shake of the division created by their foes, therefore, it is our responsibility to unite in such times like this.

Ndi Anioma is of the view that Biafra died permanently in
1970 with the surrender speech made by Philip Effiong in
which he emphatically stated that Biafra ceases to exist,
following Col Emeka Odimegwu Ojukwu fleeing to Ivory
Coast. In spite of this circumstance, a few resentful people
of southeast origin who are attempting to exploit a non-
existent opportunity to make the present democratic
dispensation ungovernable, have keyed into the Movement
for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra's
(Massob) long-time motive designed to secede their people.
"Worse still, some people of that region have gone on a wild
chase of goose, making diagrammatic representation in an
irredentist manner where important territories outside the
southeast, including our Anioma have been included in their
inventive maps to convince the world on the expansiveness
of Biafra and probably for the benefit of oil in Anioma.
These people have made a long journey from their southeast
region to Asaba, the Delta State capital, blocking off major
roads to give the false impression that the Anioma people
have agreed to be part of Biafra but for posterity, Ndi
Anioma must make its position clear that it has never been
part of Biafra in history or administration."
She added that for record purposes, Anioma was first
situated in the Western Region, then the Midwestern Region,
Bendel State and now Delta State in the south-south.
According to Ms Onochie, Aniomans cannot for any reason
afford to be forcefully strong-armed into any region, outside
the region within the south-south geographical zone, where
it is presently located or any other government outside the
Nigerian control now or anytime in future.
Ms Onochie added that Aniomans accompanied the Chief
Obafemi Awolowo-led delegation of Western and Mid-
Western leaders to Enugu, in May 6, 1967 just before the
outbreak of the civil war to discourage Col Ojukwu from
declaring Biafra because not only did they foresee it as an
exercise in futility but because it was certain that it was
bound to invite massive loss of lives, properties and
sufferings and so it was. She pointed out that his stance of
Anioma fathers and people of their region remains the same
till date.
Ndi Anioma maintains that there was never a time, place nor
venue, when its leadership or representatives met and
agreed to enter into any form of alliance with the people of
the southeast geo-political zone to actualise a separate
state of Biafra. Ms Onochie added that the representation of
Anioma in different maps of Biafra is part of the figment of
the imagination of desperate irredentist adventurers who
creatively made such maps to satisfy their thirst for empire-
building.
She challenged pro-Biafra advocates to provide any
evidence or agreement in which Anioma leaders allied with
them to secede from Nigeria and become part of Biafra for
the entire world to see. Ms Onochie warned that any attempt
to secede will result in a war which will not only shatter their
region but will definitely make the 1967-1970, a child’s play.
According to Ndi Anioma, the challenges of the people such
as marginalisation and the poor state of federal roads are
real but it is not expected that conflict be used to solve
them. It urged Ndigbo to put their representatives on their
toes to deliver to the region and key into the agenda of
President Muhammadu Buhari to address these challenges
