Funny how I was just discussing with someone today, about one of my younger cousins. Neighborhood gossips once spread the rumor that my younger cousin was actually his oldest's sister's son. ie, that his mom (my aunt), was passing off her grandchild as her own son. Is it unheard of for an oldest child to sometimes be 12 to 18 years older than the youngest? I'm just hearing this Sarah Palin story now, and unless there's solid evidence to back up these rumors, I seriously doubt she's trying to pass off her grandson as her son. |
Seun:yes. My mom taught me the right way to blanch veggies as a teenager. She warned me about this problem of overcooking. It makes the greens lose taste. I know it looks complicated on paper, but it isnt, really. Thats why I looked for a video but unfortunately couldnt find the right one. |
so is Jonathan Goodluck the one ruling the country while Yaradua is in saudi, and is MEND happy now? |
You can either add a little salt to the water you're using to blanch the vegetables, or strain the greens while half done [before adding them to the stew]. That way you shorten the overall cooking time. Also, add the veggies after the sauce is done cooking- not at the beginning. They should be the last thing added to the stew, then steamed/stirred briefly in the sauce I'm assuming you blanch the greens before cooking. Definition:the brown color is a result of overcooking- it shows all the nutrients are gone. And yes, the green veggies taste better. Just avoid cooking the stew too long. http://www.ehow.com/how_13887_blanch-vegetables.html?ref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art Its better to actually to watch someone do it. http://video.search.yahoo.com/video/play?p=how+to+blanch&ei=UTF-8&fr=slv8-ygames&fr2=tab-web&tnr=21&vid=000148669825 |
olrotimi:neither can the Germans and saudis. Anyway, health is whats important here, not secrecy. Its not like he's in for a tummy tuck or nose job. |
lysaa:una don engage between yesterday and today? na wa. You guys should be married by next week then. This is almost better than The Parkers with Prof Oglevee. |
samguru:So the lady must be: 1. Goodlooking. 2. Educated. 3. Financially stable. 4. Between 23-25. 5. Yoruba. and you insist people must not comment on these criteria. But you didnt state you wanted a marriage partner, in your OP or the thread title. Isnt it normal for people to assume you're only interested in some kind of fling? You must be new to nairaland. ![]() |
bawomolo:what a fallacy. ![]() Nigerians are also scammed by 419ers. In fact, na Nigerians dem dey scam pass. |
Regardless if the report is true or not, I think yaradua should ditch these German and Saudi hospitals and try American or British ones. These non-English speaking countries can be confusing, imo. If his illness is a critical one, then he may need the foreign care. As in he may not have an option, even if he werent the president. @nigeria1 Do you know the longest God made mountain in africa is in Nigeria. Ekiti state,, 40 km .Which mountain is that? never heard of it. You might want to open a thread for all these aerial photos, by the way, since people are complaining. They're very interesting but should be in their own thread. Do you have any aerial pictures of that mountain? |
olrotimi:oh yes, I meant to read about that. They chased out the Nigerians or something? |
Offer it as sacrifice back to the Gods. Tufiakwa!!
KarmaMod:would you rather be childless than have an albino kid? If na oyibo baby with straight hair nko? Lets say a "miracle" happens. |
albinos arent supposed to eat salt-it gives them those dark brown freckles or patches on their skin. From what I heard. They dont tan either, hence the root of the problem. I know a lady with about 4 albino kids. However, the parents were educated and the children were well cared for. One of them was extremely pretty. I think most people with albino kids must have had albinos in the family tree somewhere along the line? Not to say it cant still show up unexpectedly, though. But there's a particular shade of lightness which might indicate a chance of albinism in people. Kind of reddish skin color. The lady with the albino kids I know, has this shade of lightness, as do some of her other kids who arent albinos. Another person has people with the same color in her family. One of the relatives also looks albino, but not quite. However, its quite difficult to predict if someone will have albinos or not. |
The Last Mimzy. shouldnt have bothered. The movie may appeal to Buddhists and New Agers though. Seemed rather pointless most of the time, though the special effects were ok. Shaggy Dog- |
Book three of The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. Fascinating reading so far, though the book is enormous. Hope I can find the time to finish it. Just finished One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich . Very sad book. |
see the user name deledele complaining about going home. ![]() |
onyinye2:is this a joke? You're comparing Enugu guys to Anambra men? even me wey no be Igbo, I still know there's a difference. Presentation and all that. I'm not saying they're angels oh. Just that, you know, there's a big difference. |
Sisikill:You're actually making a mountain out of a molehill by getting people uneccessarily sensitized to all this stuff. Not to mention, no, you don't understand this right. I'm assuming the thread is tongue in cheek. ![]() |
this is your original post: huxley:Your theological question is more relevant to the Muslim or Hindu adherents, rather than the church. The baby's parents are most likely not Christian, so does it matter what the church position would have been on the issue. Why not just post your question in the Muslim section for variety, a different kind of response, or simply to give yourself an occasional rest from the anti-Christian drama. Its not too hard to figure out where you're going with this. |
na wa oh. So the guy must remain stuck in his town while others are running away to better lives elsewhere. For what reason? I'm sure many of the people he's ruling over, are probably permanently residing in some big city either in Nigeria or overseas. So he should remain in the village and keep up with the monthly chicken sacrifices and mediating petty quarrels, which the elderly chiefs would be happy to do on his behalf? Or just stay there growing a pot belly and accepting young girls who were kidnapped and forced to become palace wives who never wear clothes. Human rights violations. Once again- nobody had better even so much as think about suggesting Obaship in my vicinity. I go just tell you say you never hear the oracle well- go back and open your ears properly. I'm firmly of the opinion such things should be limited only to candidates over 60. |
Sisikill:You're coming across as being very sensitive on behalf of the gay cause. I don't know if its intentional or not. ok, now just like it would not be considered abnormal in the west for a parent to warn their kids about talking to strangers, or avoiding unknown characters just to be on the safe side, why are people being attacked for showing caution regarding gay mannerisms? Two kids falling on top of each other, is no reason to panic, agreed (maybe). But there's no reason to criticize parents who are concerned about their children's exposure. You don't know what they've seen or heard. The fact that handholding and the like, used to have no gay connotation, doesnt mean men have to jump up and start holding hands singing kumbaya or the YMCA song just to prove they're cool with it. If it didnt have a gay meaning back then, or in Nigeria, doesnt mean it can't have one today, or in the west. Not every man feels the need to hold hands with other men. Let me put it this way: more often than not in the west, its the openly gay people you see holding hands everywhere. This holding of hands is often accompanied by other gay stuff. How's that for imprint. So if people see this, then why blame them for associating it with the gay lifestyle- its what the gays themselves use to express their affection for each other. |
Queen, We have to look at all of these from a cusriosity viewpoint. Meeting her once does not rule out the fact that he may have known her all along since she became governor, after all they are in same party. More importantly, why do you think McCain will sidestep people he has known for years and worked with for a woman he has met only once? Anybody has a logical answer? She is beautiful and young is a illogical answer and lacks curiosity of mind.
The McCain sef seems to have an eye for beautiful women. |
Queenisha:@ 4play reference: I dey here dey wonder too oh. ![]() |
Sisikill:seriously though- why are you castigating straight people on behalf of the gay cause? ![]() What about gays who are always on the lookout for people to recruit to their lifestyle- any words for them? Or are they the victims, therefore they have immunity to being held responsible for anything they do. |
Is there any evidence the baby's parents are Christian, and not Hindu or Moslem? Can you post this question in the Muslim section, plz? |
Sisikill:Hollywood actually isnt a good point of reference. Anyone can come out of the closet anytime. Note: I'm not saying any of the above people are gay. In any case, all I'm saying here is friendship doesnt equal bromance. We are all Nigerians here. (or at least most of us are). How would you feel if your dad or brother constantly holds hands with other guys most of the time, and tells them I love you? I mean, lets not go overboard with this matter. I love you isnt the alpha and omega of life. Its important, yes, but I personally dont need to hear it every minute of the day, for example. |
yeah, we've got the US election analyzed down to the last doorknob, but for some reason, whenever its a Nigerian/African election, all logic flies out the window. |
OluwaKANYE:People tend to forget there was a gay "coming out" period in the 70s or 80s, when the gay lifestyle was officially recognized by law. About that same time, homosexuality was removed from the list of psychiatric disorders. All these went a long way towards enshrining the gay lifestyle [coupled with public awareness of gay mannerisms], in western culture today. |
Sisikill:I already did. My response remains the same- no need to label friendship. Guys already have deep friendships with each other. ![]() She's just describing a normal thing. However, telling them they are practicing "bromance", may make them end the relationship altogether. Or else wonder at the motives of the person telling them that. |
Free healthcare for the underpriviledged, especially women and children (where possible). Others who can afford it, should pay. |
Ibime:I think there was some localized war between the Ijaws of Ondo state. They were either fighting themselves or fighting their Yoruba neighbors. I'm not too clear on the tribes around that side, since some of the Yorubas there may actually be Ijaw. I have a Yoruba friend whose parents were Yoruba speaking Ijaws from Ondo state. Yoruba speaking as in you don't know they're Ijaw at first glance, because everything about them seems Yoruba. Seemingly assimilated. So I know there was infighting in the area but I'm not too sure who was fighting who- Ijaw vs Ijaw or Ijaw vs Yoruba. It was even in the papers at the time. Note: I'm not mentioning all this so you can go and recruit foot soldiers for MEND in that area oh. Though I hear they're already trying to do so. |
OluwaKANYE:would you regard Michael jackson sleeping on the same bed with those young boys, as "bromance"? Just an example. In Nigeria, it might not necessarily raise too many eyebrows, but overseas, someone who does that may be a child molester. Note: I'm not saying Michael jackson is a child molester oh. |
