NYSCRe: Corpers Cause Mass Failure In Schools - Teachers Council by tpia1: 7:10pm On Dec 11, 2012
some are good teachers, from my own experience.

beware of generalization.

doesnt mean they're all good, but some are ok.
FamilyRe: Why Do Pregnant Women Attached Safety-Pin(s) To Their Clothes/wears? by tpia1: 6:55pm On Dec 11, 2012
Why does a bride wear something borrowed, something blue, something old, and something new?

Incorporating 'Something Blue' Into Your Big Day

Even if you don't consider yourself to be superstitious, chances are when it comes to your wedding day, you will find yourself following at least a couple of the luck-promoting traditions. One of the most widely known traditions dates back to a Victorian poem, "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a silver sixpence in her shoe."

but i dont see anyone flipping out over this oyibo superstition:

Something Blue is a phrase deriving from a saying about the items a bride should carry or wear on her wedding day for good luck:

Something old, something new,

Something borrowed, something blue,

And a silver sixpence in her shoe.

@ topic and the ones "opening mouth"

probably as a source of iron, in some way.

lack of folic acid [iron] leads to neural tube defects in the baby.

prenatal vitamins are fairly recent.

Ileke-IdI:
To whomever said this must be a Yoruba thing, I'm Yoruba and I've never heard of it.

No woman in my family has ever worn a pin for "safety".
or used a nigerian toilet either, no doubt.

Ask4bigneyo: Have been wondering why our pregnant women always attached safety pin(s) to their clothes/wears...

It is commonly practiced among the yorubas bt i don't know weda this also applicable to other culture/tribes..
true its common among yorubas, but i dont know the prevalence in other tribes.

its just a superstition, same as everywhere in the world has theirs.

eg people touching a pregnant woman's belly, etc etc.
Christianity EtcRe: Do Christians Really Have Faith? by tpia1: 6:30pm On Dec 11, 2012
But I shrugged that off, didn't put much thought into it, atleast not until I created another thread originally titled: ''christians please pray for atheists, seriously''.

https://www.nairaland.com/1119106/two-days-left-christians-praying
sounds like you're really desperate.

just open a thread anywhere on nl, detailing your problem/s, and you'll definitely find someone somewhere who will pray for you.

Foreign AffairsRe: European Countries Will Attack Africa Very Soon by tpia1: 6:21pm On Dec 11, 2012
i'm not sure they'll attack when they already own africa and africans for that matter.

and why waste valuable resources when you can simply have africans attack themselves on your behalf.
Christianity EtcRe: This Is To All Beefers Of Great And Successful Men Of God by tpia1: 6:17pm On Dec 11, 2012
if their beefing is continuing to make the ministers greater, then they should knock themselves out while the level of greatness simply keeps increasing astronomically.
FamilyRe: Why Do Pregnant Women Attached Safety-Pin(s) To Their Clothes/wears? by tpia1: 6:14pm On Dec 11, 2012
abouqi: I sincerely believe if some of your mums have used these safety pins the children they were blessed with by God won't have been changed to some of you Nairalanders going by your comments; the way you reason, the way to talk to men of God,....you guys definitely are not God's original plans for your parents.
This is why some call the use of safety pins all manner of names. My advice: when your wives are pregnant, allow them to walk at anytime of the day or night; they shouldn't use any safety pins ooo, you should not forget to take them out to clubs, right? The results (babies) you will get will show that AFRICA TRADITION ARE INCONSEQUENTIAL!
i think there's something about walking at night too, but i dont recall what it was.

pregnant women shouldnt go out at night, or something like that.

however, that one is easy to interpret- obviously, why would a pregnant woman in nigeria be walking around at night anyway? huh

@ coogar

do you ever get tired of doing drugs!!!! Your mood swings will improve when you're in menopause, i hope. undecided

if you know how to read, two separate matters are being discussed on the thread.

1. pregnant women being told to put pins on their person to ward against evil

2. pins on person in order to have some handy when needed.

do you get it now, or you need to sniff some more crack to focus?

anyway

even in the village, those bathroom thingies made of sheet metal enclosing a space, look more enjoyable though.

i think the camps should have a roster for bathroom duty. Everybody should help keep those toilets/bathrooms clean.
