Wallie: Interesting! I’m curious to know the exact kind of system to be deployed. I see that the company in question will be using a system provided by Doppelmayr, a company that has been in the business of producing ski lifts since the 1930s.

I wonder the viability of using ski lifts as a means of public transportation because of the year round traffic on such a system. Ski lifts only see heavy traffic during the winter months. If indeed they’re trying to bring a ski lift type system, which at most has a capacity of 6000 people per hour, can such a system be used as a means of public transportation without negatively affecting the mean-time-between-failures (MTBF)?

However, I doubt it would be ski lifts as shown in OP’s pictures. I think it would be a Cable Car like the one in the picture below.
you're probably right, but obudu ranch has had ski lifts for some years now.

boron10: People were dating then, but Like in every other aspect of life, technologies have made things easier.

The stress and insults that one is likely to encounter from chicks approached in the neighbourhood could be avoided.
nothing was avoided, in this instance as well as others.

some folks dont seem to realize just as they're hunting for others on facebook and the web, others are also hunting for them on the same media.

middle easterners generally have names that are specific to region, outside of the commonly known ones.

i think its immigrants or otherwise new converts who mainly have easily recognisable arab names.

yoruba muslim/arab names used to be spelt and pronounced with a yoruba format, but it seems thats not the case anymore, we now have yoruba muslims with conc arab names.

Ask them who was the president when you were born, then google it.

I see no reason why someone who can type on the internet, cant find out their date of birth.

Christianity Etc › Re: Reasons For Religion Conversion In Nigeria by tpia5:
christianity is not easier than islam, generally speaking.

its not easy to be a christian because the lifestyle would be radically different from the overall one. Tougher.

and so many things you have to learn to discipline yourself in, because to not do so would be detrimental to your spiritual welfare.

for example, a sex addict who wants to be a christian- it will be very difficult not hopping everywhere as you usually do. For a muslim, at least you have the option of polygamy or concubinage and you dont have to worry the lifestyle will affect your relationship with God.

used the sex addiction example because its one of the most common things around.

so, its very hard to be a christian, and thats why many "christians" dont even bother trying, its just too difficult.

The era of comic reading is gone, , it's now video games and movies,
hmm, i wonder what's next after video games.

if anyone had predicted, back then, that comic books would ever go out of fashion, would have seemed like a fantasy.

yet they did.
TV/Movies › Re: Nigerian Animations - Wack by tpia5: 9:43am On Feb 03, 2013
i havent really watched much of nigerian animation, but i think some of the reasons we're not yet measuring up to par is our inability to be light hearted on most issues that dont involve sex.

i've noticed especially here on nl, nigerians just find it almost impossible to "step back" and view things from an impartial lens.

animation is supposed to pass across the message in a non-serious manner using humour. This aspect might be a bit difficult for us because we are no longer used to such.

now, i wouldnt necessarily qualify nigerian animation as wack, since i've rarely watched it, but i do know kenyans seem to hold themselves to stricter standards when it comes to entertainment, and it seems south africans do also, going by your post.

we're supposed to be comparing what we're doing, to the western world, since they already have these things under wraps. The Japanese too.

ferhyntorlah: I "think" she knows but might not be too interested in her. Her brother came to Nigeria last year, so they haven't forgotten their roots.

I'm happy for her for getting thus far. From what I've just read about her, she suffered discrimination due to her skin colour(being darker) but she didn't allow that affect her.

So winning this contest is a morale booster for others in the country facing such discrimination.
philipines has always had indigenous black people though.

not sure she's breaking any barriers here- must be some other goal involved.
