Thats a lovely street. Could almost pass for nigeria except for the good road. It actually looks like some neighborhoods back home, nice memory. |
. |
Mynd44 Arent you following some other folks? |
Aieromon That is so wrong. |
I asked for comments and thoughts. |
I don't believe they still exist until the guy told me what happens on Yoruba Movies happens in real life situationthe movies [not only yoruba ones] are based on reality, not fiction. i think the movie consultants/writers are native doctors as well. |
the other celebrities who are believing God for their own single men this year, just keep trusting Him o!!!!! rejoice with those who rejoice is what the bible says. |
i'm telling you the facts, its up to you how you view them. i see no reason why i should follow monikers [i follow/pay attention to topics, not necessarily the people posting the topics], but quite obviously, people follow me and my posts. if that's a problem for you, it would be a good thing if you unfollow yourself from my matter, one less follower is ok. |
all4naija: That means those Muslim names are culturally and silently linked to the Jewish with little tweaks to them.the roots are the same [semitic]. i dont think the names are borrowed, they just have the same origin. |
hmm, that last photo is very suspicious. who's he btw. |
he returned to nigeria some months ago. |
. |
good for her, a lot of nigerian lawmakers do eventually study law after their tenure. why didnt she read it in nigeria thuogh- i think unilag has a programme specifically for that. |
experiencing nepa is no reason to not visit nigeria especially when your dad is being discussed all over the news. too much bad publicity here, something has to be done. |
what's the merger? ![]() |
Next time he no go talk about d'banj. All is kolomental wey dey hidden b4 go dey make front page steady.this is a very unfortunate statement. |
being black doesnt necessarily make us one people? ![]() and peace is a mirage, imo. |
i dont think i'm following anybody, cant be bothered, except for maybe one person, which was from ages ago and i cant even remember which of us is following the other. but obviously, lots of people are following me because i'm important to them. |
^ dont always be in a hurry to type. ![]() first of all, he's already started the drugs, so this is not a question of telling him not to start. And its already a foregone conclusion others should learn from it [besides, that can be on another thread]. What is needed now is intervention and medical treatment. This isnt rocket science. secondly, his first name is a surname- i dont know where you're from, but these things are significant in african culture. given the meaning, there's obviously a story behind it. |
Hmm. SMH @justaqad. If you're been praised and cheered by non-believers, truly you should be concerned about yourSELF. I'd be very worried if my sayings attracts non-believers singing my praise, especially when other muslim(s) are condemned by them.well, i see your point but it can be a fine line sometimes. however, his endorsement by logicboy would make him seem rather suspect, just saying. although it doesnt really take from what he was trying to say with the other topic. however, on nl, its always wiser to assume a poster has an agenda, and might not be who they say they are. |
i've actually never heard of the guy nor seen him in this section before now [doesnt ring a bell]. however, if a discussion interests me, i make a contribution if possible, as was the case on the arab thread. although i must admit this thread was what made me know about the other one. also, its unusual for logicboy to open topics for anybody besides maclatunji, way to boost traffic for this other guy. |
the reason why there's confusion here is because people dont understand religion can also be synonymous with tribe. meaning tribe has everything to do with religion, and originates from it. think i discussed something like this some years back. |
https://nigeriaa2z.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/majek-fashek-the-rainmaker.jpg https://i3.ytimg.com/vi/6MhC_Dg9RbE/mqdefault.jpg few questions: 1. why is his first name a surname? Cos some of these things can be generational, or family related. Also, is there a family history of mental illness? 2. did he ever marry? Any kids? lord have mercy!!!!! He should try to know Christ as soon as he gets well. Break every covenant, etc. |
donroxy: what u ve said here is rubbish/baseless compared with what the Topic suggested as ''we are losing our Identity to the Arabs''...... If u say my argument is not SCIENTIFIC then u re MYOPIC.tolulope is a religious name. as per affiliation with deities, yes, nigerians do choose names which reflect the deity they worship. a religion isnt any less valid just because you consider it "foreign" [this issue of "foreigness" is highly debatable especially when referring to christianity]. |
@ tpia@'s, thanks for the pictures.you're welcome. people need to use google more for other things besides junk rubbish of the chippy chappa type. good to know it's only going to cost N200 per ride.that's extremely and surprisingly cheap. my major doubt about the project was will there be enough ridership, since this is an entirely new concept for the state or region. also, this type of thing is needed in the hinterlands, some of which are very hilly. The London cable system which is very limited in terms of scope and distance carries 2,500 each passengers way per hour so I see the Lagos system with a wider scope, coverage area and cars moving at least a hundred thousand passengers in one day..i'd have been more doubtful as well if i hadnt known of the obudu cable car, which i also considered strange to see in nigeria at the time. |
seunajia: Abubakar is another way of writing Abu Bakr. It's not an Hausa name.my point is its usually associated with hausas. The yoruba version is different, just like barack isnt spelled the same way as mubarak. I could have been wrong, But I thought we were having an intelligent discussion here and not attacking personalities?true, no need for that. |
dnative: I think you read me wrong, I wasn't saying you were right or wrong, simply asking you to provide some evidence on how Barack means or derived from Mubarak.the evidence is in the meaning as well as the spelling. Etymology? barack without the "mu" prefix is what people are calling african, but dropping the prefix doesnt mean the root word originated in africa, unless you have evidence to the contrary. alubarika is from hausa, and based on the arabic form. Its the yoruba pronunciation of barka. hope i'm clearer now? |
aieromon: Seems they all have multiple monikers.due to much banning. not everyone is easygoing and having likeability like some of you. |
you listed nicknames of the males and full names of the females. why is that. besides, what are we supposed to do with this information? ie how e take concern me. |
seriously, when did yorubas start bearing abubakar? ![]() no offence to anyone with the name, it just sounds strange to me. i'd assume the bearer would be hausa. |
The names u give ur child identify what he/she associate with religiously, yoruba names suggest, she is a Yoruba......Islamic/arabic names(whatever u call it) suggest, she is a muslim!!!i dont think you're contradicting the poster. this is what he was saying, to the best of my knowledge. most nigerians give their kids an ethnic name as well as a religious one. even oyibos and westerners look at you somehow if you're foreign [to them] and yet none of your names are. |
cheikh: tpia@they experienced some hostility when they returned in large numbers, and besides oftentimes the home environment had changed totally when they came back. it was very difficult if not impossible for them to remain. Besides, some of them [not sure of the number] were also slave traders, which might explain part of the situation. in any case, lagos and its environs were more conducive for them to settle in, and so they did. |

. Most of them could not settle in the hinterland because they are not sure of their origins hence they remained where ever they were dumped/settled along the West African coastline to South Africa
