kunlejazz: I have noticed a trend over the past decade or so. Many christian women(very committed ones) who would normally not even date a muslim are getting married to muslim guys, basically because of money and are even forced to become muslims. I think if inter-religious marriage has to be it shouldn't be greed-motivated. This is very disheartening. It comes across to me like these ladies' greed is bringing them to a place of enslavement and many of them don't even care! But the reverse hardly happens. Muslim women almost NEVER marry christian guys(I mean practicing ones)...I think that says a lot about the sincerity and depth of conviction these so called christian sisters really have for their faith.christian women-muslim men marriages have always been around, although entering these relationships arent always advisable because religious differences do not actually go away. but, to each his own. |
orikinla is always regaling us with tales about sampling women. he only samples, never commits. good for him. |
its not really my concern, just pointing out i dont think its necessary to discriminate against someone simply because you dont like the fact that they're good looking. that's the appearance God gave them- are you questioning God for doing so? that's why i said judge by character before looks. I personally do not value beauty over good character, not saying everyone should be the same way, but your thread is somehow. If you're trying to preach the virtues of humility, then maybe this is your way getting your message across? ![]() |
AbdulSleek: Your first sentence betrays you. I can take a guess that you havent read the Quran or you are not a muslim?wow, so much disdain. what exactly do you disagree with in my post? |
when were those dams on the Niger river built and when did Asaba become an entity?
kainji was built in 68 i should think, though there seems to have been a previous one called niger dam before then. what we do know is there was a big resettlement of people who were displaced by the dam. bussa, where mungo park died, is currently underwater and a new town was built to replace the old one- not sure when. |
homerac7: @Tpia,the build up is held in place by the dam. |
ok, you have a vibrating social life, and have a man friend named dammytex. we hear you, hot stuff. |
better snag a guy before the issue becomes one of desperation. the way you're jumping from tribe to tribe in this butterfly-ish manner, is not good oh. |
Interesting pictures. Do you mean much of the current land along the boundaries of the niger, were formerly underwater? |
obasy09: The online appearance is not only limited to social network but also smart phones that we use.True. Hard to hide, really. |
Seemed more like a threat than a journal. |
The issue of marriage arises because Islam is cultural as well as religious. Someone who is bent on marrying a muslim woman should just look for areas where the culture doesnt frown on it,imo. I dont really understand why someone would insist on marrying a person whose culture and relatives are determinedly antagonistic to such. Wont some physical harm ensue from this type of scenario. No be person wey dey alive dey do relationship with somebody? |
In any case, i'm sure the mods may probably descend on this thread sooner or later, abi no be muslim section? Besides, the thread itself was opened by a christian, many christians have themselves rebuked other christians who they feel didnt post appropriately, so what is upsetting you again? |
^ stop disturbing yourself unnecessarily over what you're reading on the internet. Everybody posts their opinion on the web, and not everyone who posts, will do so in a manner you approve of. I wonder what you have to say about the constant ethnic clashes here then. And like i pointed out earlier, adedibu received mostly curses when he passed on from many internet users, but nobody worried themselves about that. |
They said its a dam in cameroon. |
Its on most of the major news outlets and besides i think someone said the Ogun state govt made an official announcement. |
The brits. |
They are already tracking you through your online presence, facebook, stores you visit, everywhere you go, who you contact, etc. So, what's new. |
Never heard any of them speak, so i dont know. |
Hope everything has been sorted out by now. I'm more worried about boko haram. |
My post was meant for all, actually. Everybody seems to be jumping on that one comment. |
I wonder why the thread is about abusing the pastor instead of finding the car. As per prayers, people do such according to their religion and personal beliefs. Some wash their new car with alcohol, others pray over theirs. As per the pastor saying what the op is accusing him of, i dont believe the story. |
Why not just ignore whatever you dont agree with and not allow the thread to be derailed. People will post as they feel- if i remember correctly, when adedibu died there was nothing but curses upon curses and i didnt hear anybody complaining. Not saying they're the same. |
Death comes to everybody whether beautiful or ugly, rich or poor. I get your point but there's no need to demonize people solely because of their looks. Judge them by their character first. Otherwise you might run the risk of unfairly persecuting somebody based on your personal biases. If perchance you are referring to someone you know personally who is vain and arrogant because they think they are better than others, then you could still reword your post to reflect your feelings. |
Why the question? @ poster. And yes, why cant you type properly. |
I was looking for a map of the area in order to get a better understanding of the geography involved- couldnt find anything detailed. |
^what did he say? |
Lets stop looking down on our fellow nigerians just because they're poor, plz. Frankly, some of the utterances in this place, scare me. |
Wait a minute...Chubby in Nigeria means fat Chubby in American means Jordan Sparks and Jennifer Hudson before she lost weight. Fat in America means Gabby the African American.
|
and yes, i knew i'd heard a poem about it somewhere: http://www.foodreference.com/html/turtle-soup-010607.html dont know why we're out-whiting the whites these days. note: i'm not saying the turtle shouldnt be released but why so much outrage, gosh. |
