i read some posters' comment and threads on nl, and they just make me wonder what type of people roam this earth. oh well. God have mercy on us all. |
last two posters dont derail the thread, thanks. you cant change history, so i'd advise you to deal with your insecurities. |
also, i still think there could be a connection between ikunle and okun. this kun seems to be a rather peculiar unit in yoruba. words like ikunle okun akun ekun ikun all have kun in them and they are all significant in yoruba thought. |
negro nts every language can be analyzed and studied as linguistic units. that's all i did with the ikunle and idobale references. you're looking at language from a mystical or esoteric viewpoint while i'm checking the pragmatic one. notwithstanding, we were still almost at the same conclusion initially, just that i'm not so much into the metaphysical stuff. ikunle could be what you said, and it could also refer to childbirth. |
@ topic i wonder when the crowns changed to the current form. |
exotik just mainly derails most threads he posts on. i'm sure he has multiple ids here and this one is only to scatter threads. wouldnt be surprised if he's masquerading as a yoruba with another id. well, enjoy your jealousy- na you sabi. |
the university experience isnt about education alone. its supposed to be well rounded in all areas, not just learning. and no, i'm not referring to x rated activities. fstranger/asiwinfc dont respond to my post, thanks. in addition, may i point out that students in nigeria have a lot of options when it comes to choosing which university to attend? |
the thread isnt about igbos nah. is frosbel igbo? ![]() |
op, i think there's something a bit off about how you're presenting yourself here. just my opinion. |
its not about the op being right or wrong- he just needs to apologize to GOD alone, that's all. if he likes let him not do so. |
Right now, the welfare of her daughter should be paramount.so in what way exactly is this thread helping her daughter's welfare? ![]() |
are those the only universities in nigeria? ![]() you people are jobless. |
I think the people complaining about them are the ones who are ugly. |
@ duke4ever the question was why do people who reject God live seemingly happy lives. My point wasnt that all of them live happy lives, but that many of them can teach christians a thing or two when it comes to things like personal ethics, priorities and self discipline. That's all, and no need for argument. |
just wondering why all these people can afford cars but not shirts? ![]() and why does he look so annoyed and why do they wear sunglasses all the time? ![]() |
Despite the population ratio, there are still more spinsters than bachelors so no problem yetthat's because not all the men are available for marriage. you have to consider the ones out of circulation due to a preference for alternative lifestyles, the ones who dont marry early, the ones who are drug addicted to the point of incapacitation, etc etc. being a man doesnt automatically mean someone is husband material, or willing to take on the responsibilities of marriage. i agree with pstylish' post. |
Land of the rising Sunbiafra? ![]() Shagamu - Pso you're saying you're ijebu, with an egba mum. why is it you're not familiar with yoruba culture and traditions? did you leave nigeria at an early age? |
I didnt know someone was asking for the meaning of Idoba'le and Ikun'le. The two also are of semitic originare you sure. i think we should look at the tonal difference between ikunle, whose literal meaning is "full ground" or occupy ground [in a way], and okun, which means sea. the meaning of kun is not well defined yet. [btw where did you get your definition from]. it seems to be more of a syllable or morpheme than a word. idobale : not sure about this one. Le, or ile is ground while "i" is the act of [verb]. Dob, or do'b, is a compressed form of something. of course it could also be broken down in a different way, with oba, or doba being the operator. |
mundus2:ok. |
^^are you intentionally funny or what. |
mundus2:was it a body building competition? ![]() just asking. |
waiting. btw did they take pictures with shirts on? ![]() |
@ topic 1. the same reason why many christian marriages end in divorce while many non-christian couples are living happily together even though they dont know Christ. it all boils down to discipline, personal ethics, and moral values. 2. happiness is a very subjective term. 3. your thread title has two questions in it. i'm responding to the 2nd one. the answer to the first question is no. |
i dont think any picture was replaced (?) but it would help if negro posted the exact sculptures he was referring to. |
Isnt this the same poster who was complaining about something as simple as people eating in their own homes? ![]() My goodness, i hope you're not a woman. |
There are clothes you can wear which are specifically designed for breastfeeding. Of course whoever wants to breastfeed in public can do so since its not illegal and the baby needs to be fed, but nothing wrong with trying to do it quietly. And yes, we all know how it is with crying babies. Most times if the baby yells properly a lot of people would be too frazzled to complain about the mother pulling out her breast to pacify it. I think its if you didnt hear the baby cry that you'll notice the mother's breast. |
if you're a nursing mother going out with your baby, wear a blouse that facilitates breastfeeding without exposing the whole breast. no big deal and nothing to get offended about. nobody said it was easy pacifying a cranky baby. |
are there any sunken ships around there? just curious. |
but i feel a moremi extension is needed ie one or two more halls because most of the hostels are overcrowded. and that open space was ok- too bad they used it for something else. why not build another girls hostel there and move any new lecture halls further down instead- like around white house area. anyway, its all good. |
