Especially for the female figures, I think some of the "crowns" are actually beaded hairstyles of the like still worn by queens (olori) todaythe traditional hairstyle for oloris is the suku braid, i believe. these days i dont think most of them do it anymore but i remember hearing that when i was a kid. also, could you post the images of the particular female sculptures you're referring to, since some of them actually are wearing crowns. |
^ can you post pictures of the ade ide or ade obalufon. Not sure if I'm familiar with those. the obalufon sculpture itself doesnt have a crown on. |
thread or announcement about it i mean. from the site admin. |
shouldnt there be a thread or something listing new moderators as they're appointed. It's rather funny clicking on threads, casually glancing at the section heading and then discovering a new mod. anything against letting us know when one's been chosen? just my two cents. |

^^ twisting the bible the way you just did, is nothing new, so dont feel like you reinvented the wheel. its usually a sign of schizophrenia and personality disorder but you can deny that if you want to. |
^ you cant fly over the itsekiri and artificially attempt to magically link ijebu and edo. these things have a logical order which holds up to analysis. its not fantasyland like many of you wish. |
@ topic does being a bad husband make a man a bad father? or should i open a separate thread to ask that. |
interesting, as I said before I am not aware to much with the small tribes of Nigeria; good assessmenti was expecting folks from some of these tribes to either confirm or deny the assessments, but no one seems interested i suppose. |
cheikh:hmm, well, i'm not sure about that. hausa men just seem to have a very laid back and romantic character- most women like these attributes in a male, especially when dating. However, as i pointed out, being laid back isnt necessarily a good thing. their (hausa men's) openness towards dating or interacting with other tribes also boosts their desirability to women, if you ignore the religious, forbidden and cultural (harem) aspect. |
hmm, his first child at 20 (or how old is he). well, he's rich anyway, and since he's still a bit youngish for marriage i guess this was next. lord have mercy. |
Yoruba is proto-semitic and not a descent of any of the modern day semitic at allcant argue with that at least. |
Sweetnecta:well, his user id is araboy, which implies he is arab. if indeed he is, then at some point in time he must have grown up around hijabbed women, and they shouldnt be an unfamiliar sight to him. but if you want to teach an arab about islam, then nothing wrong with that i guess. he's had moments when he was reverting back to strict observance, and he opened a thread or two to encourage the ummah at those times. maybe the way of the world caught up with him again and i dont doubt he'll sway towards yall's end once more, under your tutelage. the guy is a bit flighty. |
@ deols you're only fooling yourself, not others. if you're wearing a hijab to keep yourself "holy' and to keep the world's eyes off you, then how is clicking on a male profile helping you achieve that. kind of defeats the purpose of the hijab. the person whose profile you even clicked on clearly has okija juju as a user id. what exactly were you expecting to find? you wanted to know if he was ugly or handsome? ![]() you're not addressing a naive person, thank you. lets call a spade a spade- you dont have to answer to me or anybody not on your answerable list, so no need to be bashful about such things. |
the guy is a chronic weed smoker and gaay to boot. na today this type dey run mouth for internet? i suppose the thread is his way of blaming his mother for how he turned out. ![]() |
but wat happens if the virgin has doctor proof tht she is a virgin, also sex is everywhere it's unavoidable and most virgins are curious. by 10 ppl in my school were whispering about sex already!doctor proof of virginity doesnt replace actual ignorance about s.exual matters. inexperienced s.ex talk is different from how a pro would handle the same. a lot of |
@ shesi shut your frigging mouth up, you senseless goat. nbo lo ti ja wa. can you address your countrywomen (or even any country's women) like that without them beating the heck out of you, and you now think you can run your s.tupid mouth anyhow just because you're on a nigerian forum? ori e daru. |
my goodness, i didnt realize redsun was the one who started this thread. what's his (redsun's) definition of a bad wife or a mother? ![]() redsun was the one who was saying right here on nairaland, that he'd encourage his wife to have s.ex with other men in order to get papers. All with his full approval. in a normal website, this type of lowdown downlow criminal wouldnt have the gall to start labelling anyone bad or good, but what exactly is surprising or new about some nlers. |
vedaxcool what's your opinion of luke 20:27-39. |
i watched a movie about this once, starring owen wilson. cant recall the name. owen was living with his best friend and the wife, the father in law didnt like the son in law and the son in law got so frustrated, etc etc. |
There are a few yoruba women married to igbo men but its not really common. I cant count up to ten of them that i personally know. |
Come, why did people rest after ikenna (the handsome mr nigeria)? ![]() There's no other nigerian who is fine like ikenna? ![]() |
And i dont think anyone knows what the tiers on the crown stand for. Maybe the priests in charge of the sculptures might have a general idea but its not yet certain. I'd like to know when the crowns changed to the present form. The head ties, caps and other head attire on the other sculptures are still mostly found in yorubaland today so its rather puzzling why the crowns alone changed. |
If by #4 you mean the ooni and his queen who are standing arm in arm , then i already mentioned the three legs could be symbolizing the gbese le tradition of the yorubas. Do you disagree and if so can you give your own interpretation of what you think it means. Gbese le in this instance would symbolize the absolute authority of the king. |
try not to talk much about sex because you can lose respect and regards from men if you talk more of sex.that applies when someone who isnt expected to be in that context, talks too much about it. but for women who are considered experienced pros, they're allowed to discuss s.ex extensively and with no holds barred. i believe that's how it works. |
Do you have a reason for not dating her? If you have, then think more about that reason each time she is around. Try to concentrate more on your differences than your similarities, get closer to other colleagues. If she wants to have lunch with you, invite another friend along, if she wants to read something from your system, let her read first and then come back to read it when she is done, in short try to avoid being with her alone.great advice. |
^^that is all. keep it short and simple without going into long story wey no concern anybody, as i always say. ![]() |
i wish the lady would cry for the bad state of nigerian roads, infrastructure and healthcare. |
edo women (bini, ishan, isoko, etc). might need to be viewed separately. Bini women- first choice yoruba, bini or white men yoruba or white men- second choice akoko edo side and its environs- third choice bini men- fourth choice if not first isoko women might follow similar patterns though I'm not sure. And igbo would be in there somewhere- maybe between first and third choices. ishan women: igbo men- first choice ishan, or delta men (like delta igbo)- second choice delta or yoruba men- third choice hausa- either third or fourth choice. and, white men would be in there somewhere as one of those choices. just guessing here, thank you. |
any other major southern tribe that i missed? ![]() |
for urhobos, dont know much about the female dating patterns as well, but i think for the most part, they might have: urhobo men- first choice urhobo men- second choice itsekiri/delta/edo/yoruba men(?) third choice not too sure what the dynamics are between them and ijaw and hausa men, but it could be there with itsekiri/delta/edo as third choice. just guessing here- dont have much to go by. The few urhobo males i know are yoruba speaking and some of them are like yoruba men when it comes to players. |
^^yes, non-yoruba and non-hausa women tend to date outside their cultures more, compared to these two groups. |
