^^thanks for the compliment. i learned about joseph conrad in school but never actually read the book until some years back. i think it was reflective of it's time and probably actually did represent the mindset of most europeans about africa in those days. the only explanation i can possibly think of for the state of affairs conrad showcased, was much of africa was at war and things were just on a downward spiral. |
peacettw:tread very carefully. it's a tough call. |
^^true talk for the most part but your delivery was very harsh. though the mamaputs were really maligned sha- i have no idea why. and fresh ingredients do taste better. also, garlic is ok in jollof rice. |
Oooooh. . . . I didnt know that. Plus, I didnt know u were an "expert" in different kinds of shiyyt! Kidding. lol
you really dont want to know more about the subject because it will damage your psyche, trust me. you're an ajebuta. just continue in your innocence. |
Beaf:must everything be spelled out for you? ![]() how many fishes have you seen floating belly up because people shat in the water? ![]() maybe you think shrek is real life. ![]() |
ragdollz:quite true. she did her homework well- with practice, her intonation will be perfect. she reminds me of the ajebuta nigerian kids returning from abroad. their pronunciation is most times.though the girl should watch out for the sweet tongued men over there sha. |
ola olabiy:it seems he wrote about real life events. the question which achebe tried to address was one of perception. ie focusing on only a particular view of the subject matter [africa] and refusing to see any other. at that time, africa was in the grip of the pre-independence movement [i think] so achebe's critiques of joseph conrad were rather representative of the time, imo. also remember swift's poem: So Geographers in Afric-maps With Savage-Pictures fill their Gaps; And o’er uninhabitable Downs Place Elephants for want of Towns. (On Poetry: A Rhapsody, 1733) though this preceded HOD sha. What do you think about Conrad? Do you think he accurately depicted the African race?it was a bad time but i wouldnt say he depicted the african race since africa consists of many different ethnicities all changing into one thing or the other. War is hell. |
^^sweetie, didnt i meet you on the other thread? ![]() what's your definition of flawless? ![]() i watched the video and felt for those nigerians raised abroad and what they go through when they start speaking the local languages in nigeria after they return home. not knocking the girl's achievements- she tried. there's a video i posted here sometime ago of two little toddlers [white] who sang in perfect yoruba. |
I should be on top of every HEALTH/SECURITY/HOUSEMAID in the familyYes nah. Therefore, I think it's completely unacceptable to deny mehmph. straw men arguments. |
yes, i've read it. lots of gory themes and it's rather scary if one assumes some of the characters and storylines were based on actual people and events. |
is joke section closed for now or what's all this exactly? ![]() is the poster too big for his threads to be moved to the appropriate sections? ![]() |
she should dump his behind. |
the half exposed engine of the rickety he had to keep revving to keep it from stalling …and probably refusing to kick back to life if it stopped.hopefully |
But one shouldn't expect much from them anyway because they truly don't havi agree. i think the poster can try to scrounge up some paint if possible, and do the walls. Find lino for the floor. if it cant be done, then she could try to change her place of assignment i guess. living large while the rest of the community is desperately poor might breed a lot of resentment towards the corpers though i'm not necessarily excusing the conditions. |
since nigerians are being airlifted there by the busload, 100,000 is even a conservative figure. or maybe that's the number requested. |
he chose to take a shiyyt in river, thereby destroying whatever marine life previously resided in it!nah, that's dogs. Dog poop kills grass and maybe other organisms, i think. the subject is gross and nasty, but human waste isnt toxic, to the best of my knowledge. though why the man did it is a mystery. |
what does the village itself look like. |
is anyone following the news about pg county? ![]() it's a crying shame, imo. and i'm not justifying what he did, but do we really need more black men behind bars? ![]() especially one of the minority ones with a stable family life [i assume] and who has been married for over 25 years to the same ![]() not saying the charges arent justified and pg county does seem to have been on a downward spiral for a while. very sad and lord have mercy. looks like another financial meltdown case like a mini-enron or the other guy who was caught last year. |
a bit presumptuous imo. mexicans have been feeling the pinch for a while and it might not be that long before they start going after blacks. remember agents are everywhere. |
because it's female soccer nah. anyway!!! |
soon now somebody will tell us deepsight is fine upstanding christian with deep insight into theology. and such a vast mind and such depth of heart and perception. the thread is just satire meant to foster our beliefs. |
blazing80:yes. |
![]() is naija being used in official documents? that's definitely wrong but in ordinary everyday slang it shouldnt be a problem. london is called jand nah. and didnt one musician release a song saying "naija la wa yi" or something like that. |
@ topic not necessarily. programming is a language. it has some math applications since it's based on binary code. But i wouldnt say just because someone is a programmer, therefore it automatically follows they're good at maths. almost anyone can be programmer if they get the required training. but not everyone can be a mathematician. so while it follows that if you're good in maths, chances are you'll excel at programming, it doesnt mean if you're a good programmer you're automatically a math whiz. |
