i'd say raise your child yourself unless you want neverending drama with this guy.

i had to check your previous posts to understand the thread.

i dont think all this wahala is worth it. Unless you're hoping he'll get back together with you. Believe me, chances are he wont. undecided

cant both of you move on with your lives and give the child some breathing space sef. Fighting all the time isnt healthy.

if the man agrees to pay for the child's schooling, have him put the money in an account opened by you for that purpose.

if you can afford to pay for your child's school yourself, do so.

just my opinion.

On my part, 've decided to keep all what happen as secret from the son, am I right? I wouldn't want him to hate his father, blood is thicker than water
your son isnt old enough to understand anything yet.

just move on [i know it's hard] and you may find things will sort themselves out.

the oldest one [hugging genny] looks a bit like her, imo.

though all the kids look more like their father, i agree.

But I could never figure out whether he actually loved her or not.
i dont think he did, considering the ease with which he hopped from one woman to another for different reasons.

some people are seriously handicapped when it comes to love and relationships.

they're their own worst enemy. undecided

IyaBasira:
I remember that book!!!! I loved those Pace Setters series. The girls name was Rosaline and the guys name was Tade and it was called the Hopeful Lovers. Sick book.

Yeah it looks like it might turn out that way in real life from what I can see. The guy I initially spoke about has already cheated on his gf about twice or so.
that's right- it was The Hopeful lovers.

And the cheater's name was tade.

i nearly cried when i read that book.

That actually scares me because the guy I was talking about is my friend's boyfriend. But he's a Warri boy and not a yoruba one like you mentioned.
oh, ok.
NYSC › Re: What Does NYSC Mean To A Guy? by tpiah: 4:50pm On Aug 27, 2010
the whole thing reminds me of one pacesetter book sef- cant recall the name.

exact same scenario- some guy (a medical student i think) spent a lot of time persuading a reluctant lady to date him. She finally agreed, and they got into a serious relationship.

he then cheated on her with one lady, who proceeded to use jazz on him until the jazz no even work again (after marathon # of times having s.ex). The woman's babalawo took a liking to her and fixed it so she started getting the hots for him (babalawo) instead of the other lady's boyfriend.

The two timing guy then went back to his fiance and all was well.

until youth service, when he panshed a lady (he said he was lonely and missing his fiancee) who quickly got pregnant. He now promised marriage to this other lady.

the ex-fiancee now found out during a visit, and almost ran mad. She then became an SU and even rejected the advances of another guy on campus who wanted to marry her.

i think that's how it went.
NYSC › Re: What Does NYSC Mean To A Guy? by tpiah: 4:38pm On Aug 27, 2010
some yoruba guys in particular tend to go haywire during youth service or when they leave home, because many of them arent used to being so unrestricted.

i could be wrong but that's what i observed.

they see so many girls available for the picking, with no strings attached [unlike home], and they just jump on board and "enjoy".

most likely its Nigerian gas thats in their car right now
in fact, nigeria's bad image seems directly proportional to the amount of gas she produces.

just an observation.
Politics › Re: Muslim Groups Oppose Use Of Body Scanners At Airports by tpiah: 4:18pm On Aug 27, 2010
Mallam Kamor said a pat down search would be just as effective in finding explosives strapped to the body instead of body scanning.
so pat them down then.

knowing nigerians, who says body scanners will prevent anything anyway.

all the security agents will be looking out for is the shape of people's ikebe and bosoms.

even if the person has questionable material strapped somewhere, dem go notice am? huh

Politics › Re: Legalize Prostitution In Nigeria by tpiah: 3:59pm On Aug 27, 2010
seriously, look at some of the comments in this report:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100827/ap_on_re_af/af_west_africa_prostitution

What, no slave ships or slavers from the West;
No white men, making money such invest;
No foreign practice which perfection seeks;
Just prostitution reaching seeming peaks;
Which must have been by those in power blessed.
No different then when they enslaved and sold other blacks and then sold them to whites. No doubt they will try to blame it all on whites, again
Well, a lot of Europeans looks the other way as tons of Russian, Romanian, Ukrainian etc, women are trafficked too. Who you gonna blame? Nigerians.
Blacks selling Blacks into slavery is nothing new. African tribes used to raid the next village and kill and eat the men and keep the women for slves and sex. Then later the blacks sold the men to slve traders to take to America where some of the slave owners were black.
i wonder why we have a culture of prostitution in nigeria?

lord have mercy. sad

Others at the shelter were stunned by the massacre but undeterred — like 35-year-old Belizean Wilber Cuellar, who said he has been deported six times from the United States and once from Canada, where he worked at a chicken packing plant.

"I'm not afraid. I'm prepared to die," Cuellar said. "I'm tired of suffering in this world."

Family › Re: As A Parent, Can Your Teen Date? by tpiah: 8:24pm On Aug 26, 2010
^^ not trying to argue this point, but telling your child some things is like rubber stamping certain decisions they make as a result of it.

eg "advising" them to practice safe sex is like giving them the green light to have intimacy. I know some parents do this to prevent unexpected pregnancies, stds and abortions, but imparting values to your kids is likewise important, unless you have none. (not referring to you in particular).

you cant prevent someone from having s.ex if they're determined to do so, and neither do i know if it's possible for most girls to remain virgins for long,  but no be from my mouth an underaged person go hear the words " is your latest flame/boyfriend/bootycall good in bed".

God forbid bad thing.

reason: the other daughter's dress matches hers and besides, omotola has 2 daughters.

unless these people are at the back of a near empty theater then there is no way they can have s e x in a movie theater while no one notices them.
heavy petting, s.ex, potato, potahtoe undecided

as for first/second base etc this could well happen right in your home when mama is in the kitchen!
lailai.

even mere seeing my grandma around gave one of my male friends the shivers as if he had guilty conscience. No be even boyfriend o.

how much more myself. Find out what they call serubawon.

as a teen in this situation, you would have done what was right for you to do at the time. if having s e x in front of everybody was right to you then yes you would have probably done it. . . . . . .just as much as you would have done it at home while parents were away or in the school toilet.
i dont think so. undecided

anyway, i just dont think i should be telling impressionable young people to start opening their legs anyhow i expect them to go and have s.ex, that's all.

I'll leave that to others who are less inhibited, and how you raise your child goes a long way in how he/she responds.

MRbrownJAY:
what is the poor lad gonna do to the gal?! have s e x with her while people next to them are watching SHREK3?!
just because some of us adult would find a movie theater appealing for our s e x escapades doesnt mean that every teenager is like us and comfortable with the place.
as a woman, ask yourself this question: as a teen, would you have had s e x in a movie theater?!
um, overseas there's something called "first base", "second base", etc for different levels of heavy petting.

nobody is his brother's keeper in a movie theatre.

what better place for a boy and girl to get their freak on than during Hot films.

if they go as part of a trustworthy group then that's different.

as a teen, had i made the mistake of always being in compromising situations with Hot boys, who knows what might have happened. Anyway, i was a bookworm with no social party life to speak of and exams to study for, no so fear.

besides, i had some enemies of progress practically placing bets on when one of us in the house would carry belle.

the ongoing cholera epidemic in nigeria wasnt discussed on nairaland either.

the cnn report has been done to death in the past, with various curses rained on the religious leaders involved.

this is just a rehashing, i should think.

likewise.

i no dey posh like that.

At what age can you as a parent sit down and watch romantic movies with you kids ? Watching it with them without tell them to change the channel or go to their rooms?
disney style romantic movies are ok, but i think as a teen i watched romantic movies alone or with my friends, not my parents. (did my parents even watch western movies sef).

why cant all the nigerian yahooyahoo scammers be employed as call center/help desk operators i wonder.

since they already have all the basic equipment.

only thing needed is some basic education and inflection training. Plus reorientation away from crime and criminal mentality.

why isnt nigeria an outsourcing destination for businesses sef.

In Naija, there is class system, if you come back home, and you dont have enough to live the abroad life in Naija, then which class will you belong?
the emigres have to form their own working class.

not to oppress the people at home, but to be better able to cope and reintegrate.

of course i could be wrong.

I once remember going to a chicken restaurant that was owned by an Indian, and do you know the modafocka actually took away the ice machine, and put it behind the counter so he could control how much ice people got? It didn't stop there, when you ask for sauce, he asks how much chicken you have and then tells you "you only need this much because you have this amount of chicken".
gosh this is too funny grin
