I lost 5k to virtual football betting today plus the 10k I staked on today's games all in bet9ja.

what is annoying me is the fact that I don't have any good thing to use the money and do

I watched with dismay how my elder brother cleared his life savings for a few hours wedding only to start from scratch again.

Some fellas will swarm this thread to say "the lady and her guy can handle it their way". But the truth is that families hijack weddings while you foot the bills.

The question is why please people for few hours and wipe out your life savings only to start from page one again?

Is this culture counterproductive and retrogressive?

I work in Abuja but visit Lagos on official assignment every month. I met this laspotech girl through her friend who gave me her her contact. Any time I am in Lagos and I feel like relieving stress, I call her straight away and she is always there for me. But its on pay-as-you-go basis.
She was very helpful, one, I do not have to chase girls and around. Baby sitting, going out and shopping wahala is out of it. So I concentrate on my assignment in lagos.

I just found out that I am loving her personality. Beside sex, she has a good personality. When she is with me, I hardly remember she is a call girl. She is so caring, free, friendly, playful and humble. I even checked her on facebook, I found out that she is from a well-to-do family. At times she sleeps over and not charge me, at times, she will collect her money to the last kobo.

The thing is, she is my taste of woman. But the circumstance surrounding the we way we met is not ideal. Sometimes ago, I told her about my feelings for her, she said, "the problem with men is, they can't trust people like me, and I dont want wahala ooo. I dont want to give a man my heart and he breaks it. I like you too, I won't mind dating you".

Now, to make my decision to go into relationship or marriage with her, I am faced with some real life questions.

1. Will I be able to sexually satisfy a lady who is sleeping with many men per day?
2. Will I be able to trust her?
3. Regardless of my feelings for her, I still make sure I wear my protections anytime we are having sex, but if we go into relationship, will my life be at risk?
4. Why will a lady of such standard of living go into runs? I am very sure its not poverty.

I just need someone to encourage me right now. Or someone to dissuade me from doing it. I can't think straight right now.

At the pharmacy yesterday where I went to buy some medications for my nagging flu, a woman kept looking at me.

She was lithe and had a white shawl around her head. Her features were middle eastern.

Her eyes with long thick lashes were demure as they darted between my face and the crucifix on my chest.

Discomfort embraced me as her gaze consumed me.

Time felt like it had slowed down until the pharmacist called my name and I walked over to the counter to collect my medications. It was brief. I turned around and walked towards the door.

Her eyes followed me.

She was whispering.

It was intelligible, yet it pulled at me, as though I needed to hear what she was saying.

I stopped and turned to her.

She looked up at me and spoke louder. It was in a foreign language. I couldn't understand it.

"I am sorry. I don't understand."

She continued speaking and pointing to my chest.

The pharmacist at the counter looked over at us. He was listening. His brow furrowed. Then he spoke. I turned to him.

"She says that you remind her of her husband. He was tall like you. She says that she cannot imagine how it must feel like to wear the crucifix so openly and not be afraid for your life."

"Why should I be afraid?"

He spoke to her in the language. She responded. He turned back to me.

"Her husband was beheaded for refusing to take off his crucifix."

"What?"

"She is a refugee from Syria. A Christian. A family sponsored her and her three children to Canada."

I turned to her.

Her eyes were misty and her hands were clasped together as though in prayer. She bowed slightly and raised her face back up at me.

In her eyes was an indescribable look. A mixture of emotions that tugged at my heart.

And standing there in front of her, I realised with such clarity, how much I take my faith and my freedom for granted.

She spoke again. Her voice was barely above a whisper, but it was in halting English.

"You believe?"

I didn't understand.

She pointed at my crucifix and spoke earnestly in her language.

The pharmacist was even more somber as he translated, his hands laid firmly on the counter as though for support.

"She wants to know if you believe enough in the salvation of Jesus Christ to die for your faith?"

I stood there.

And minutes passed.

Silently.

I knew the truth.

But I could not say it.

I did traditional wedding some months ago now i learnt that any single quarell my wife tells her people. Now this brings resentments btw her siblings and me.

My mum and siblings some times send her stuff and she never calls to say thanks. We planning our white wedding now. We argue at every thing and she never sees shes wrong. Im always hurt.
