Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. . . . do not take revenge, . . ., but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord. On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Anybody can tell what you from your speech. Come back to senses. If not spiritual, at least be normal human being.

so what you saying now is God actually want the black race to suffer slavery and he preodained slavery?
i think the God i serve will never do such a thing,he can get to pple with ease and not by injustice and i know God wants equality and fredoom.
where u get ur thinking from is actually amusing me.

why did you think the pope apologise for what christianity have caused the so called black nations?
I didnt say anything of what you wrote. You have a mouth and can say anything, but all you say is your own interpretation. I very well know what I want to say and I can say it myself, so please keep away from putting words on my behalf!

There was no talk of black race to suffer slavery in my post, maybe you are obsessed and prejudiced with those thoughts so from the overflow of your heart your mouth speaks.

If you are really looking for freedom from slavery then chose Christ who has offered a greater freedom - that is freedom of soul from death and hell. When you chose Christ, he will also fulfill your desires of freedom of blacks from slavery (though not all blacks are slaves). You can be an example.

What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
Christianity EtcRe: Italian Earthquake: An Act Of God? by Truth11: 7:09am On Apr 07, 2009
Italian Earthquake: The families undergoing the tragedy may find grace from God.

An act of God or not should not be the debate. Its better to be reminded that we could be next, we are all mortals, where do I go from here? This could be God's way, or a natural process (also from God). What is not revealed belong's to God, no use debating.

What one could do is to be reminded that its only a matter of time when all of us here will have to taste death (either a natural death, disease, earthquake, landslide, fire, plane crash, etc. etc.). Where will our souls spend eternity thereafter?

Christ has set me free from this fear, I am assured of eternal life in Christ!

okay no jesus no peace, what of places where they dont have christianity or where slavery did not exist, will they go to hell as well even though they have good attitude and service to humanity
There are many things about God which are hard to understand by common man. What you call good, is it really good? Osama bombs countries and people. He and his people say it is good, and a good number of people say it is good(Taliban, etc). Is it good? So who concludes what is good. I know of a person who used to smuggle wood from forests of the government, sell them in the market and live and also support some villages surrounding the forests. He had killed several forests guards on duty. Now, people from the village called him saviour and the government called him a dacoit, thief and had a reward for killing him. he was finally killed a few years ago. Was this man good or bad?

Justice is deep and complicated and we should not act God, its very very tough. God is just and does what is right. Tthis scripture should answer your questions.

All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law, since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.) This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares. Rom 2

20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Rom 1

dejiariyo:
my second question is,if not slavery will africans know anything about christianity or jesus christ?
God has been revealed to all mankind in some form or the other and God has his own way of reaching out to people. He is a just God. Anybody condemned to hell by a God, who doesnt delight even in the death of a wicked but says to the wicked, "repent and live", will provide sufficient reasons and evidence before sending people to hell.

God is loving towards his creation. If you will notice that God's judgement over human beings is delayed to the very end in Revelation. When everything was destroyed, punished and judged, with a very heavy heart God goes to judge the human beings whom he wanted to save. He did everything possible with him to save human beings, even sacrificed his son, Jesus Christ (who is God). You will notice that there is no more judgement after Rev.20:15, that is God delaying to the utmost possible in sending human to hell. So such a God will be just in doing what he does when he sends some people to hell. I believe it will be done in the presence of the whole creation including you and me and it will be just.

this depends on which gospel account you read, in other gospel accounts jesus did not remain silent he gave an answer. so it all depends on which gospel account you read the story from. read the gospels individually and you will see that the writers do not agree on any one things, their accounts flatly cancel each other out. . . .
I have read all the gospel accounts many times over. The book you are talking about is my Father's word so I dont need to hear from somebody to read it, I love his word and read it.There is no account which flatly cancels each other out - its your misinterpretation of the reference of Mat 26:62-63.

God speaks to all creation. Any person (wicked, wretched, bad, ugly, black, white, yellow, simple, stupid, intelligent - any colour, any race, any nationality, ) can understand.

But a proud, unrepentant person cannot comprehend the simple speech of God. Such people even when they come to God, they come in arrogance and dont give God the glory due to him therefore they dont hear. Such people abuse God and try to show they are above above him. So God gives them over to their delusions and the more they do it the deeper they get into their foolishness but they think they are wise, as God has reavealed in the Bible:

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.  For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools

I was also one such person, but God of the Bible, who is a loving God did not destroy me in that state but continued to love me with patience. One day he showed the extent of his love due to which he sacrificed his son, Jesus Christ, on the cross. This changed me and I humbled and asked Christ to come into my life and forgive my sins, I was instantly transformed, oh what a blessed and glorious moment of my life!!

A God hater became a God worshipper! The Bible became the most precious book for me as God spoke everytime I opened it and I fell in love with this God and his revelations! A fool became wise!  A worthless person became precious in God's sight!  A dead person became an eternal being! A sinner became a saint! A wicked person became kind! A troublemaker became useful to the society! A preacher of violence became a preacher of love! A cursed person became a blessed person! A mortal person became eternal! Salvation through Christ opened up the flood gates of blessings from heavens for me and life changed so beautifully. Even after 15 years I am basking in his love and look forward to hearing God and his plans daily. He filled my life with hope and blessings.

I believe he loves everybody in the world, even Osama or Hitler, as long as they are alive and have a chance to repent (after death face judgement). I belive everybody can go through my experience or even better experiences because God does not show favouritism (For God does not show favoritism. Rom 2:11).

So, all unbelievers and God haters, taste and see that the Lord is Good!
All who are trying to prove him a liar, receive Christ and you will see for yourself if he is the Truth!
All who have violence in their hearts, taste and see that he is a God of peace! He will forgive you completely!
"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are willing and obedient, . . . ;

"Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord." Rom 12:17-19

He is a God of justice, the guilty have no place to run and hide - he will catch up with them even on moon, or mars, or hades, no place to hide even after death - Praise God, what an assurance!

"The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God,  . . . . .  . .   Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished". Exod 34:7

It is such a blessing to know this attribute of God when people keep doing wrong to you. This is what makes the God of the Bible a perfect God!! Knowing this attribute is so important in the present times with injustice and wickedness all around us. There is no level play for the righteous, the wicked play without any rules and the righteous restrain themselves even when they are right and keep to the rules (as far as possible. At times their patience gives way).
Christianity EtcRe: Who Manufactured The Bible? by Truth11: 3:15am On Apr 04, 2009
Quote from: OLAADEGBU on Yesterday at 12:15:13 PM
This can be best explained by Brian Edwards, in his book Nothing But the Truth (Darlington, UK: Evangelical Press, 2006). p.116-143.
"The Holy Spirit moved men to write. He allowed them to use their own style, culture, gifts and character, to use the results of their own study and research, to write of their own experiences and to express what was in their mind. At the same time, the Holy Spirit did not allow error to influence their writings; He overruled in the expression of thought and in the choice of words. Thus they recorded accurately all that God wanted them to say and exactly how He wanted them to say it, in their own character, style and language."
KunleOshob:
What is the biblical basis for these allusions huh
What, Biblical basis for understanding whether the Bible is the word of God!!?? Abraham was right, "He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "
Read the Bible and conclude for yourself whether it be the word of God. Reject it or love it - God has given a freewill, but remember that judgement will be there for this choice.

Bible has been given to the world as the word of God. People can be over smart and shut their eyes and open them in hell like the rich man in Luke 16, or humble like Lazarus and follow it now.

Jesus answered, "A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

God of the Bible cannot be seen in huge violent debates, earthquakes or storms but in a gentle whisper. Silence your confusing, deliberate, unbelieving loud voices and come near to the creator of heavens and earth in humility and gentleness, he speaks to all he created.

Not sure what you are wanting and assuming that you are wanting to knowabout the author here are my two mites. (Its possible that you may be wanting to know how the Bible was published in which case my inputs can be ignored).

Same author as the one who wrote the Ten Commandments.

As the dictation took about 1,400 years, but due to the life-span limitations of the secretaries (mortals) who could not keep pace with age it was required to bring in new secretaries, mainly prophets and apostles. It is to be noted that the recording techniques were also not state-of-the-art. The one giving dictation is known as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, without beginning and without end, Ancient of days, Eternal and Immortal,  therefore it is believed around 40 secretaries (prophets and apostles) took down the notes for 66 books that we have today as the Bible. Some attribute the books to the writers, but any born again person reading in Spirit can make out that every word carries the voice of the Lord).

Christianity EtcRe: Steps To Christ by Truth11: 6:27am On Apr 03, 2009
Bobby,

Thank you for a thread where peaceful and meaningful discussions can be held.

Bobbyaf:
This thread is for both sets of people, Christians as well as those who are contemplating becoming one. Can we look at some of the steps we need to take to come to Christ. What do you think the first step is?
I would say one should keep this in mind, what JeSeoul said "I think its different for different people as we're all coming from different circumstances and backgrounds. " This is important. Many a times we think the path I or my church has set for salvation is the perfect way and fail to see the bigger picture through God's eyes that He can lead in millions of ways!

My understanding of some steps one must take to come to Christ anywhere in the world, any background, colour, etc.:
1)believe in God's son Jesus, his death and resurrection and the reason for his death and resurrection - the gospel of first importance. Believing is important. (For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.1Cor 15:3-5)
2)total surrender, full confession. One has to come on his/her own will, repeating a prayer after someone is ok, but the bottom line is the heart which is praying has to beat honestly. conscientiously, and fearfully for God through Jesus and repentance has to be 100% and not partial or for one incident or to escape a difficult situation. Whole life has to be surrendered before God unconditionally. (If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. IJohn 1:9-10)
3)Confession with own mouth is necessary, (Rom 10:9-10), audible words have meaning in records of heaven (For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."wink  I am speaking in general, for exceptions, God has exceptional ways!

I would say these are the basic first steps.

Blessings,
Christianity EtcRe: The Many Lies Told By Jesus by Truth11: 5:40am On Apr 03, 2009
Bobby,

but as you aware a time will come when Christians will have to answer to those in authority.
God will help when such time comes:
On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. Mat 10:18-20

Besides, this person may very well be sincere in his attempts to question the word. Let us see this as a revision class for those Christians that need to sharpen up their reasoning skills.
This person Mazaje and others have been soaked in word by many loving brethren, but they (especially Mazaje) continue to be be what Paul wrote to Timothy, which I quoted in my post above, "boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient, unholy, slanderous, " .

Unfortunately every person who interacts for the first time with Mazaje tries to show the love of God and he has always rejected and hurt them, fulfilling the scriptures(Mat 7:6).

Christianity EtcRe: The Many Lies Told By Jesus by Truth11: 5:18am On Apr 03, 2009
Bobby,

I see your point, but let us see it as an exercise for Christians to ", prove all things"
Christians do not need to prove all things to people - reaching them with the gospel is the primary exercise. Once a person becomes a disciple, then comes the teaching of all things and baptizing them and all things. Some of the people need to be seen in the context of the verse "do not give to dogs and pigs what is precious to you". God in his wisdom said it, sounds harsh but is the right answer to many posters here and all over the world. There is no other apt word for some here and elsewhere who are so full of evil that all their words smack of satan himself.

There are many instances in the Bible to prove that proving all things to people doesnt mean much, where people turned away after hearing all things. Example: The women caught in adultery in John 8 surrounded by accusers who dragged her there ready to stone her. When Jesus confronted them with the question, "one without sin should throw the first stone", they acknowledge their sinfullness therefore all left one by one. The ideal thing would have been to drop their stones and kneel alongside the adulteress acknowledging that they were no better, but knowing the truth they still decided not to change. By repenting they would have returned home happy and forgiven just like the adulteress whom Jesus sent in peace instructing "sin no more". They all had opportunity and everyone forfeited it. Interestingly, the only one who saw the divinity of Jesus was the adulteresses, who was considered the most incompetent to receive grace and revelation from the divine!!! Glory to God who reveals himself to little children, the penitent, the broken hearted, the helpless, the rejected, the fallen, the destitute - anyone who acknowledges helplessness and stretches out the hands for help.

Another interesting point to note is that the Pharisees who always wanted to kill Jesus left that place. It shows that even enemies who were baying for blood had some sense of shame and respect even when they wanted to kill! But today we are in terrible times spoken of by Paul in 2Timothy

1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,
3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good,
4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—
5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
2 Tim 3

We are in those terrible times. Some members here give a good example. They are carrying bag full of stones(check their posts!) throwing them at will. When exposed of their unclothedness they neither apologise nor leave, but go ahead and grin and continue as if nothing happened! This is the way of an adulteress: She eats and wipes her mouth and says, 'I've done nothing wrong.' Prov.30:20 The others have to leave feeling ashamed and not able to stand it anymore!! Amazing shamelessness and resilience to keep standing in foolishness! I believe we have entered those "terrible times" , the end times as told by Paul. I wonder if such stone-heartedness and stiffneckedness hurts even mortals, who profess to be redeemed (though prone to falls) how much more it would hurt the one who is absolutely holy from eternity to eternity.

Having said the above, not to forget we were no different than Mazaje or anyother person worldover. But some of us submitted to the grace offered by God through Jesus and therefore have our eyes opened so we could see our own wretchedness. Even today, I may not be much different from Mazaje or others in the sight of God (I may be worse on some days) but its the grace of Jesus in my life through faith on the cross and the blood which makes me righteous. It is the Spirit of God in me through Jesus who makes me repent every day (in fact many times a day) to wash away my sins in the blood of Jesus.

The murder of Jesus is the most heineious crime ever commited by man, since it is a crime directed personally against the son of God. Thus the murder of Jesus is a sin against God personally, it did not atone for any of mankinds sin but burdened mankind with a sacrilegious crime.
MN: This is wrong interpretation.

The Bible says the death and crucifixtion of Jesus was planned and prophesied in eternity and this fulfilled scriptures, which means this was the way it was meant to be. Even casting a lot for his clothes was prophesied hundreds of years before.
23When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.

24"Let's not tear it," they said to one another. "Let's decide by lot who will get it."
This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled which said,
"They divided my garments among them
and cast lots for my clothing." So this is what the soldiers did. John 19:23-24

Again the Bible says this was to fulfil the scriptures which was foretold many hundreds of years ago.
36These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: "Not one of his bones will be broken," 37and, as another scripture says, "They will look on the one they have pierced." John 19:36-37

No, Jesus did not ressurrect in the same body he was killed.
MN: your statement is not true.

The Bible tells that Jesus resurrected int he same body he was killed. In the passage below the disciples saw only the strips of linen lying there, no body:
So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. 4Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in. 6Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, 7as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus' head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen. 8Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. 9(They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead. John 20:3-9

To Thomas he asked to feel the places where he was nailed and bruised on the cross to prove it was the same body and same Jesus who died on the cross.
Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe."

Salvation through Christ is the very basis of Christianity, otherwise there is no redemption for man.

This is the only appropriate word for you from the Bible, rest is meaningless:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." .

On hearing the truth a sinner has two choices, repent or grin. A wise heart will repent, a fool will grin and take pride in the foolish acts, and you have been grinning ear to ear!

Christianity EtcRe: The Many Lies Told By Jesus by Truth11: 11:20pm On Apr 01, 2009
@ Mazaje,
Mat 16:28 I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

Jesus says that some of his listeners will not taste death before he comes again in his kingdom(he made this asserions about 3 different times in the bible). This was said almost 2000 years ago and we all know how the lie turned out.
This was fulfilled 2 verses after Mat 16:28. John, Peter and James saw Jesus in glory.
There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Mat 17:2.

Knowing Jesus in glory is the coming of his kingdom. 2 seconds are sufficient for the children of God to know this simple truth!

Mazaje and co. took 2000 years and still could not understand this simple truth. As the scripture says, the secrets of the kingdom of God are not given to the hard hearted unrepentant people but to those who humble before Christ. It will be unfortunate that those who harden their hearts against Christ will see the glory only after death and at the judgement which is a dreadful truth.

Those reading this post have time to stop fooling around with their souls, life is no joke, it would be eternally damning if Mazaje and his likes continue to play with the blessed name of Jesus and mock God.

Only through repentance and receiving Christ one can escape eternal damnation.

@poster,

Moderation is the key.

Situations are different and which part of the globe you are also matters and if the person is working then what type of job can also influence this. A person working in a hotel at the front desk or with public relations or an airhostesses or a receptionist or a sales executive, etc. where it is required to be well groomed and wear a make-up has to use wear a different make-up than other women. Do we say then believers should not take up these jobs.

It should be left to the conscience of a person. What matters is the person should be mindful of God's presence and present herself to the Lord first. A person who honors the Lord at all times will carry oneself respectfully and honorably.

You are entiltled to your own opinion or belief and I respect that. I have stated my position on the murder of the son of God in previous posts and there is nothing to add or remove from what I have said. It is not my intention to dispute or argue with believers. I simply offer my experiencing of the will of God when discussants pose serious questions about God and his Will. Let each discussants decide for himself or herself what to make of my submissions. I am indifferent to what readers make of my submissions. Thus, it is the choice of readers to accept, reject, dispute, or ignore my submissions. Stay blessed.
MN:
I appreciate your respect towards others, I reciprocate the same towards you. It was necessary to clarify some of your posts which divorced from the Bible on the subject of hell, the sacrifice of Christ and salvation.

It is also necessary for me to clarify that what I posted was the word of God, the Bible, and not just my belief and opinion. What you have stated but is your own opinion or belief and no word to support it.

Blessings,
Christianity EtcRe: Why Are You A Christian? by Truth11: 8:55am On Apr 01, 2009
Christian by birth, born again because:

God showed love towards me when I was in my filthiest time of life. I mocked God and christians but in return God showed love through his son Jesus crucified for me on the cross.

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:8

I was sinking but God lifted me up through Jesus. I had no vision, he gave me reason and purpose to live. I was unaware of tomorrow he revealed eternal life to me. His favours are endless,

How to live up to that tag: deep desire to be Christlike, live by the spirit and reject the flesh continuously, do the will of Him
who called you, bear fruit that will last.

Christianity EtcRe: Questions For Christians by Truth11: 7:22am On Apr 01, 2009
Very interresting questions. But where are the so christians to answer them
I am not surprised to discover that the christians cannot answer the tough questions about Christianity on this thread.
Horus: when christians are convinced that their contribution will not bring fruit they have another option which I believe is being exercised by many here:
Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. Mat 7:6
No offense intended, Horus and Mazaje. This is not name calling anybody, please understand this means dont share what is precious to you with anybody who will disrespect it and also offend you. Horus and Mazaje have been at it evidently by their posts.

Jesus also kept silent on occassions:
Then the high priest stood up and said to Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?" But Jesus remained silent. ,  Mat 26:62-63

Blessings,
