honsule: Talking of Netflix my account was debited 9.9USD automatically after my trial expired on 14th Feb.i hardly stream movies, even though i have unlimited data.i will disable my account before ending of march . 9.9 USD rounded up to 10 USD is not bad even at the current exchange rate of 400 naira to 1 dollar. 10 USD is N 4000 which is still more affordable than the 14,000 which DSTV charges for its Premium Bouquet. And it is View on Demand which means you can watch whenever you feel like watching instead of waiting on a timetable like normal cable channels. You can even download content even though that will attract additional charges. On the whole I think I like Netflix. |

Nairaland General › Nigerian Doctor Prays While Patient Dies by TruthHurts1(op): 1:56pm On Feb 17, 2016 |
A few months ago, I had a disheartening conversation with a US-based Nigerian friend. His uncle’s wife was standing at a country road waiting for a bus when she crumpled to the ground. Passersby gathered, loaded her in a vehicle, and raced to a local hospital. The patient was still alive when they arrived at the hospital. There was a doctor on duty, which should have been good news. But this doctor had less faith in medicine than in spiritual intervention. The doctor did not check the patient’s pulse. He did not gauge her blood pressure. He didn’t bother to listen to her heart. Instead, he asked his nurses and the Good Samaritans who brought in the woman to form a circle around the patient. Then, extending a hand over the woman’s supine body, (and inviting his nurses and others to do the same) the doctor began to utter a torrent of prayers. He reminded the Devil (ever-present in Nigeria) that the Devil was a liar. He ordered the affliction that had felled the woman to release the woman and “return to sender.” He importuned God to demonstrate His majesty and power by raising the woman back to her feet. The doctor kept up the racket for about an hour, as sweat poured from his body. Then he calmed down, his energy spent. It dawned on him that the woman had passed away while he, the supposed man of medicine, played a televangelist, the good doctor solemnly announced that God had decided not to heal the patient." |

BEEGOLD797: Kind-hearted Police Officer In Ibadan
Yesterday i was on my way to meet up with an urgent appointment when i ran into an accident scene. An okada man just hit a little girl that was hawking on the road along Dugbe. I stop and rushed down to the scene to help carry the girl to a hospital people gather there the girl was bleeding serious from the deep cut she had on her forehead while the okada man too was Languishing in pains as he had dislocation on his arm and also bleeding. I told people standing that we sould take the girl to a hospital but we will need a police man to follow us or report in order to avoid police wahala, so a man joined me and we rush to Iyaganku police station we report the case and they call one of their officer and he quickly follow us to the accident scene, but getting there we could not see the girl again we were told by people around the scene that the girl has been taken to Jericho hospital. At that point I said to myself at least i have tried i should quickly be going to meet up with my appointment, but this police officer said the most strange thing that i v ever heard from a police officer mouth he said "please my brother go and turn and lets go to the hospital they might need money" i was stun and surprise that a police officer could say this, i have to quickly drive down to make a up turn.
We got to the hospital and saw the girl just laid on the bench and soaked in pool of her blood without anybody attending to her, the officer went in and asked the nurses and doctor why the girl is not attended to they said they will need money to buy the necessary materials to treat her, the officer said get me the list of the items i will pay for it, to my surprise this officer went to their cashier and paid for everything and immediately the nurses and doctor started treating the girl. He drop his number with them and told them if they still need anything they should call him that he has to quickly go back to the office his attention is needed. We left the hospital and i drop them off, while i was coming back from my appointment coincidentally i met the officer on the way going back to the hospital i just told him to come in so we could both check the girl in the hospital again because he said the doctor called him that the mother of the girl is around.
We got there and the doctor said they have taken care of the girl but most still come for some treatment for like 1/2weeks he now ask the mother hope she will bring the girl for treatment the mother said she would have love to but she doesn't have money, to my surprise this officer went back to the doctor and told him to give him the bill for the 2weeks treatment and this officer paid for it again and even went to d pharmacy there to buy the drugs they prescribe for the girl. I was like wao is this man a policer officer? For once i was proud of Nigeria Police Officer.
I collected his number and ask of his name and he told me he is SUPOL BILLY JOSEPH DT1 IYANGAKUN POLICE STATION ibadan.
Kudos to this officer if only we could have people like him in the force Nigeria could have been a better place for all. I am truly proud of him that's why I have to post these on this forum for us to appreciate the good ones among our officers.

Nairaland General › See Racist Message Sent To Ben Murray Bruce And Read His Dignified Response by TruthHurts1(op): 12:54pm On Feb 16, 2016 |
I don't care where you stand on the political divide, whether you call yourself PDP or APC, there are some things that are downright insensitive and utterly stu.pid. Calling someone a "mongrel" because he is of mixed race shows a complete lack of class and decorum. Ben Murray Bruce, you are a class act for responding to this lost human being with dignity and composure. I hope the rest of our politicians can learn a lesson from you on patience and forebearance.
Ben's classy response to this crude attempt at belittling him was:
"And then we wonder why we are facing economic challenges! 'Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all'.
