Good morning, I need advise on this.

My 6 months tenancy agreements ends in August 2022. I just received an email from the letting agent asking for my preferred choice to renew the tenancy:

1. 6 Month tenancy renewal (New tenancy sign, subject to landlord approval)
2. [s]12 Month tenancy renewal (New tenancy sign, subject to landlord approval)[/s]
3. Statutory periodic tenancy (Continue under current terms on a monthly rolling basis, no new tenancy sign)
4. [s]Hand in notice and leave at the end of the current tenancy[/s]

My studies end in February 2023, and I have no plans to move before then, so option 4 is out.

Option 2 is ruled out because it's possible I could get a job outside of my current town post-study.

Please advise which option is better between 1 and 3.

The flat is in good condition, and I have no issues with the letting agent/landlord.
With the way rent prices are increasing, you might want to consider option 1. That fixes your rent for the six months period compared to 3.

Hi Everyone, please I need some advice from the house.

I applied for my student visa in September 2021 and when I received my BRP in October 2021 after arriving in the UK, it said it would expire in November of 2022. At the time I didn't know much or thought there was a problem, but recently I have confirmed from several people who also applied at the same time or even before me for the same September school start date, that theirs are ending in January 2023, as there are some months of grace added.

Please how do I go clarifying this and can this be rectified as it will go a very long way in helping both me and my dependents whose BRP are also tied to the November expiration date.
Question might be best answered in student thread.
Are those people studying same course with you? If not, first confirm from your own course mates.
If still an issue, reach out to UKVI and they should issue new BRPs to you. Although you will have to pay for it. https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/report-problem

Hello Everyone,

For those that have gotten AMEX Card, Please I have two questions

1. Let's assume I get a credit limit of 2,000. What is the maximum that I can spend from the card in a month?
2. What is the repayment like, monthly or can be spread over some months?

Thank you
1. Max you can spend is £2k but people are generally advised to only spend 30% of their credit limit.
2. Repayment is monthly, check your credit card statement for due date. You can either pay minimum payment as defined in your contract or pay entire balance. Compound interest is charged on the outstanding balance. There are other debt options if you want to spread payments. You can try BNPL schemes or apply for a 0% purchase card (if your credit score is strong enough for that).

Happy Sunday, guys.

Has anyone explored the apprenticeship placement on GOV.UK? https://www.findapprenticeship.service.gov.uk/apprenticeshipsearch

Someone sent it to me today and wanted a review on it.

Kindly share your thoughts if you've heard or used the feature before.
I think you must have lived in the UK for 3 years.

From what age is it 30hours pls?
I think 30hrs is the ceiling offered by the govt to everyone until they get to primary school, and if you need more hours, then you gotta pay. is this correct?

What times do the primary schools normally start and end?
Pardon my plenty questions
It’s 15 hours in England for 3-4 years old. It stops when they start reception.

Those with ILR/British pali can get 30 hours on some conditions.

That makes sense because they work minimum of 32 hours weekly so a Student's 20 hours weekly won't suffice.
I checked and was finding it difficult to see other roles. Is it only CX roles they have?

Good morning friends. Please I need advise. I got an offer for two courses from Swansea University:
1. MA Applied Criminal Justice and Criminology
1. MA Developmental and Therapeutic Play.

I'm ready to go for either of them, but I'm considering the job prospects after studies for both courses in Uk.

Please can someone tell me what the job prospects look like for both courses and also I need advise on the one to choose.

Thank you
First thing to do might be to Google the type of jobs you can do with these degrees. Then go to job sites like indeed, total jobs etc and check for these job requirements. You might realize that most of the jobs don’t need an MSc, but instead require previous experience and some other skills. So, what you will do is to choose one that currently aligns with your current experience/skills.
MSc doesn’t typically get you a job in the UK. A lot of UK citizens don’t even go to Uni. It’s the experience and skills you have that typically get people jobs. So an employer will pick a person with experience and skills over another person that has just an MSc.

@omobaba, thank you for stating it as it is. She has admissions to UK and Canadian schools, so we plan to go with one with greater prospects.
@TheGuyFromHR, can you please share your view too, bro?
He has spoken about it in the past (you can probably Google his previous response) and like omobaba said, it’s not a great prospects. Most of the people in the role don’t even have BSc, it’s all about the years of UK experience and not the degree.

Hello Family ,I want to start planning for my family ( family of 4 ) to join me in uk by next 3
month or so , how do i arrange for the pof in my spouse account ( I have sufficient amount in my own acct) , is it just ok to lodge in a large sum in her account or I will need to be sending it incrementally, get someone else to do the transfer i and what other things I will need to put into consideration to tie up any loose ends .kindly advice ,I am on a skilled work visa and my maintenence was been taken up by my employer so I don't have the experience of self- maintenance.
Check if the original COS your employee gave you covers your dependent. If it does you can still use that one.
If not, I think you can have the money in either of your accounts. Lump sum isn’t a problem if statement is printed after 28 days.
All the info you need is here.

For those who recently got their T2 visas. Is it an issue if a letter isn’t included with your passport. A letter wasn’t included when a friend got hers.
I recall the letter is used to get BRP and it’s sometimes asked at POE.
Want to know if it’s no longer relevant and the person doesnt need to ask TLS for it.

It’s scam. UK border doesn’t exist anymore and it’s now UKVI. No one issues visas on behalf of UKVI. There’s nothing like work visa, the terms you will expect to see is Skills worker visa or Tier 2 visa.
So run!

Amex is literally one of the best credit cards out there. Its even better now. They've increased the validity of their companion vouchers and i believe they've reduced the spend threshold to get one.

I remember we talked about this a few years ago. Glad to hear you were finally accepted.

https://www.nairaland.com/4158866/living-uk-life-uk-immigrant/56#69928220

2 for 1 companion voucher. Avios for any penny spent. Cash back from certain retailers. "No questions asked" fraud protection (which i have benefitted from after my card was used for fraudulent software purchase). Another example of their world class service can be seen in the documentary INVENTING ANNA grin

My credit limit is now close to 20k and I have declined any further increase grin
Is it best practice to have multiple CC? I already have one with Natwest on their Reward account and they also give cash back from all purchases.
Not just sure of their own fraud protection.

Hi everyone, please I need your help again. My husband just came in to the country few days ago, and he has gotten his BRP card and currently looking for work any kind of work to be doing at the moment at least to get some money.
Please anyone knows any agency work or any website or anywhere he could get work. I will really appreciate.
Thank you all, you guys are really like a family to me. God bless you all.
Couple of advice in the past pages of this thread is to check local agencies around him. They will train him and put him in some jobs. He can also use websites like indeedflex.
Hope he has applied for his NI, he would need that to get a job.

You imply that current Ulez compliant cars that are not electric or hybrid will also likely suffer in the next few years, right?

That is what I'm thinking here...rules will likely be updated to phase out these cars over time.
There are already some rules in place to phase out non-electric cars. There won’t be production of new ones from 2030. Used ones will still be available, but the green zones might keep expanding.

The appointment platform let me book an appointment date for April 15th. I didn't realize until this week that it is Good Friday which is a bank holiday. I don't know if they will really open that day.
Is there a fast Way to contact Nigeria high commission? Their phone never gets answered
They don’t open on UK and Nigeria bank holidays. I think you can reschedule on the portal.

Thanks but her friend that arrived on Wednesday picked up her BRP today at the post office.
It could be the friend got her own visa earlier. It BRP are produced after visa is granted. It could also just be any random reason. Just ask her to be patient and check again in a week or two.

Just left the High Commission. The process inside was okay. I didn't have to wait for more than 30-45mins for the whole process. The issue is getting inside and these are the things I learnt:
- DON'T visit the High Commission without an appointment. There is no fast-track again and they sent people without appointment back. Very disappointing because the website has little to no information on these recent change and there are people attending from outside London with the expectation to use Fast-track. Book your appointment here https://appointments.immigration.gov.ng/ and only attend on your appointment date. They might not attend to you if you go before or after your appointment date.
- If your application/payment date is from 20 November 2021 and you have booked an appointment date. Go with your documents i..e old passport, payment slip, acknowledgement slip etc. Visit a post office and pay for £20 money order + RoyalMail special delivery envelope. I used the Strand post office less than 10mins walk from the High Commission.
- If your application/payment date is before 20 November 2021 and you have booked an appointment using te link above. Follow same steps as above, but sadly, you have to buy £120 money order + RoyalMail special delivery envelope. They gave some lame reason for this - payments before the 20 Nov was for the older epassport and not the enhances passport. THose that paid before 20 Nov paid lesser amount. Also, you had to book appointment separately and it didnt come with your application unlike those after that day that their acknowledgement slip contains the booking link above. Both reasons were lame, but they didnt allow me enter till I went to do additional £100 money order.

They also don't follow the appointment time. My appointment time was 12pm, but i got there before 10am, spent an hour aguing about the extra £100 money order. Went to the post office to do the extra £100 money order and I was out of there less than an hour.

So, you should be out of there early if you fall under those that paid after 20 November and you attend on your appointment date.
Update. Royalmail attempted delivery of passport this morning, but I had a long night and was in a deep sleep, so didn’t hear the knock.
Good to know the process took a week. Biometric on Monday and passport delivered on Friday.
