It's you that's making a case about Islam. The bottom line is that the North are murderers, whether they are "mistakenly" muslims, is not for to keep harping on. They are murderers, simple.
Hate is real and your mind is free to hate whom ever you want to hate. But be rational a times. There at least 50 - 70 millions muslims in Nigeria, with majority being in the North, if they are all murderers what do you think would have been happening? We would have been in a constant war.

The issue of Plateau is lack of leadership, trust and security. When government isn't able to offer security, leadership and direction, and in the middle of adversity, the people took laws in their hands.

Why hasn't the government done anything since? Rather than finding a solution, the government just took a normal knee jark reaction and deployed soilders. Are soilders going to heal the wounds? Are soilders going to offer sympathy, calm and compensation to victims? Are soilders going to provide justice?

Your hate of Muslims shouldn't cloud your sense of reasoning

@ezeuche, students are definitely up to the task. Iranian students did it during the iranian revolutions.
Those students were organised, focus and not lazy

Nigerian students have never had balls to do anything. We have seen numerous strikes and university closures, what did the students do?

A referendum to split this country in two, moderate mainly christian south and your beloved Sharia republic in the north.
So you think the issue in Jos is about Sharia?

The crises in Jos is internal Nigerian crises and of Northern Nigeria. The people of Plateau know that. In the even of Referendum, Jos will still remain part of Northern Nigeria. The State is not something that can be considered in the middle belt. Plataeu is right in the heart of the North and any referendum will not solve the problem.

The Government should take concrete steps by inviting neutral parties for arbitration between the warring society, and also address the issue of indegene and settler, not only in Jos, but in the whole country.

Some of us have relations who r students in Univs across the country. Students who have only just resumed to lectures last week in Jos where going about their sturdy related activies when Hausa youths ambushed and Killed six of them yesterdy and this morning students angered by the killing of their collegues mobilized and staged a demonstration in protest , only to get shot at by the STF, The same STF watched as 50 innocent Nigerians travelling trough Jos  were killed and burnt by hausa youth. dont be surprised that those  unfortunate students could easily be somebody close to you. We must all  condemn the Hausa/Fulani tribe  for these dastardly act of murderous act which they perpetrate with impunity with confidence of the backing of the STF. THis situation do not give room to any fence sitting by7 any group as yoruba, igbos,Tivs, berom, ijaw, calabar, indeed any one who is not Hausa muslim stands the risk of getting killed with out provocation by the Hausa youth. It is shocking that the news sipping out of Jos is distorted always. Really the is no religious crisis stewing rather there are attacks with a religious backdrop organized alway by a tribal collective.  Those who sympathize with these murderers eighter cos the share the same religious or tribal sentiments must condemn these actions and seek the apprehension and punishment of these deviant, if they mean well for all, Or simply advice their brethren to stop dragging their repute in mud
First, considering the level of violence and killings in Jos, the university shouldn't have been opened in the first place.

Jos is in a war, unless peace is restored, followed by peace and reconciliation conference followed by conselidation of the peace gained, after that normal life activities should resumed including elections.

One can just imagine, under this same security crises, the government is encouraging people to go out and register and they are also planning for elections in the same Jos. To elect who and for what? The Federal government failed

I have also observed how most noise makers in the country have chickened out and not making any comments like Mr laughter a.k.a OBJ , gowon, danjuma , useni, domkat bali even david mark who called ghadafi a mad man some months back.

But when it comes to less trivial issues such as some ibo massob boy shouting biafra , we see these noise makers in action .

Is it that their boldness is one sided or they are plain silly
The people involved in the crises and all the victims are poor people and therefore do not present a challenge to their looting status.

Massop, Niger-delta crises affects their daily loot and therefore they will talk about it.

The Jos students got involved when some muslims coming back from burial attacked two female students and stabbed them. This provoked the students to a protest.

. . . and what happened?
Brig. Gen. Hassan Umaru ordered the killing of more students, like WTF huh
Why hasn't GEJ fired this man?
Which kind of country is this?

It's time students all over the country join in solidarity with their Jos counterparts and call for a referendum. Students can do it!
A referendum for what?

This is really shocking.!!! In a very serious country, this is sufficient enough to declare State of Emergency in the entire country, stop the stupid circus of the election process, rally the good people of Nigeria to find a permanent and lasting solution to this problem.

The President, the Senate, the House of Reps infact the entire instutitions of the Nigerian state has failed.

I see what started as a protest against Police brutalisation of a Tunisian "hawker" snowballing into an Arab Revolution. The arabs have operated a very closed society for centuries and the 21 century people are now waking up to the fact that they are equally humans after all.

@topic; no one has ever bn declared winner of a presidential poll in Egypt and Mubarak denied him/her authority. . .we rig elections in Nigeria but in d end INEC declare the highest rigger winner of d polls. Again, is mubarak staying beyond what Egyptian constitution demands?

NB: I hate to have one person in govt beyond 5 years (he is not d only capable hand to lead his people) but it's left for d people to say he shud go and that is what I see them doing but unfortunately, he may still have the sympathy of majority.

These are projections, mainly with the expectation that immigration will play a very big role. However, we all know that economy and political freedom are the main drivers of immigration. The economic tides might change and political situations in most developing countries might change. And then you will have another wave of emigration back to middle-east and Africa

These Indians are really very silly. From the same newspaper the have an article about population growth
In the midst of all the handwringing over population explosion in the country, the Indian government might miss preparing for a global record-setting event — the birth of the baby that would take the population of planet earth to the seven billion mark.

The momentous birth is projected to happen towards the October or November. But what's that got to do with India? Well, we just happen to be the country with by far the highest number of babies born every minute at 51. That means the probability of Baby 7 Billion being an Indian is higher than for any other nationality. In fact, Uttar Pradesh alone has about 11 babies born every minute a figure that no nation other than China exceeds and Nigeria matches.

InvestmentRe: GEJ's Reckless Spending Causes Investors To Shun Nigeria’s $500 Million Eurobond by Tsiya(m): 6:37pm On Jan 22, 2011
Why do we even need to issue bonds? Aganga came with his Goldman Sach ideology that every government must issue bond to international investors. But issuing bond is literary going into debt. So instead of going to National Assembly to get permission for borrowing, now they want to start selling bonds to international financiers, who will continue milking us and our great great grand children. What do we need the money for? They should tell us what they are going to do with the money they raised from capital market? Europe is crumbling. Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Spains are all in huge economic conundrum as a result of selling bonds to investors.

I wish nobody buy the bonds. But heck, who is a fool? After the last time, the Paris club raked nearly $18Bn for giving us $3Bn and therefore anybody will buy Nigerians bonds. We are oil producing country and we always pay our debts.

The invasion has lost momentum & that element of suprise. Now Gbagbo would be scurrying d whole world looking for weapons, merceneries, & that joker weapon that would suprise ECOWAS soldiers, after all In today's world u can buy dirty & impoverished nuclear bombs in d black market for a few fist of dollars.
The invasion haven't lost any momentum. It would have been unacceptable to many countries and even at the UN to invade IC immediately after election. They were in demonising period. Just like Iraq and Saddam, they waited to build up propaganda and demonised Gbagbo by telling the whole world that he has refused to negotiate. While in clear terms, there was no negotiation on table. The AU, ECOWAS and UN were just offering Gbagbo and his family temporary sanctuary in Calabar before they hand him over to Hague

We are going to see the worst genocide in human history if Nigerian soldiers invade IC. It is not going to be like SL or Liberia where we faced rebels and to some large extend, we were just busy producing babies. If Gbagbo resisted and try to find, we are not going to be like American Soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan with significant restrain. Our Soldiers will shoot at anything that move or creepeth on the earth. It is going to be a die - die thing.

PoliticsRe: Correction : Atiku has not joined forces With Ribadu by Tsiya(m): 10:37pm On Jan 19, 2011
The news is from DailyChampions not the Allafrica editorial.

It is just sound irrational for Ribadu to join forces with Atiku less than week from their primaries without even a running mate yet.

There is something wrong. This is the VOA website and it carries all yesterday's and monday's news. Can anybody that understand Hausa try to listen to Yesterday's morning programme and explain to those that don't understand Hausa what is being said?

http://www.voanews.com/hausa/audio/

The morning news broadcasted separate interviews from Atiku even before the primaries. Then a separate statements from Ribadu campaigning for himself attacking PDP, Shekarau attacking PDP, then Bafarawa about why he quit the primaries. No where in the news it was said they are conducting interviews of the 4 presidential aspirants and nowhere they said they were joining forces. Infact, they stated the are still waiting to hear from Atiku about his next of step after losing the primaries to Jonathan.

This is just poor journalism. Lack of proper vetting of news before going to press.

It is a lie.

THEIR TRANSLATORS WERE WRONG.

IT IS JUST LIKE CNN AIRING VIEWS OF DIFFERENT PRESIDENTIAL ASPIRANTS AT THE SAME TIME.

Gbawe:
"Join forces" may simply mean that Atiku has decided to support their ambition. Wether the story is true of false will probably not be ascertained 100% by what we conclude here. More info will come about but it is certainly logical to expect Northern die-hards , with nowhere to go , to pitch their tent with Ribadu, Shekarau or Buhari.
PoliticsRe: Atiku Joins Forces With Ribadu, Shekarau. by Tsiya(m): 9:28pm On Jan 19, 2011
Gbawe:
Allafrica.com is usually reliable and neutral. To be honest, one can expect Atiku, given how he has attacked Jonathan regularly and moved from one Party to the next , to walk away from the PDP to work with any Northern candidate he feels can stop GEJ. Some Northern PDP members will bury the hatchet and work for a PDP victory through GEJ but I don't think Atiku falls in that category.

You are the one who is afraid of dying. These people have already seen death. Inhumane death and they have been living with fear of death for years and this has become a norm to them. It is now their culture. These people are traumatised. Permanently. This is not going to do anything. It might result in escalation of the war.

These people have already lost faith in the military. What do you think will happen if the army kill few people within the next couple of days? Do you think they will run away and hide? No!!!! They will mobilise and fight back. They already don't trust the army. This is just a recipe of genocide. We are going to see the repeat of Bosnia, or Isreal Invasion of Gaza in 2008/2009. When people are hardened, they don't fear death. A permanent and peaceful solution is required to end this crises
