So dear Tsiya, did Herbert Macaulay cause us any hardship?
Honestly I don't know anything Herbert Macaulay, all I know is the guy is on our money.

But I do know that I am not to be blame for not knowing the guy. His colleagues, friends and the Nigerian Leaders he mentored are responsible.

And the fact that the guy is our currency do not rise curiosity to know him, because in Nigeria, we have the culture of celebrating people that happen to be in a place while history is being made whether they contribute or not and whether their presence or absence would change the course of things.

While you have reason to celebrate Nigerian forefathers, the vast majority of Nigerians, who are saddled with the struggles of daily survival have no time, energy or even reason to remember or celebrate them. Some Nigerians see no reason why we are even a country, as someone pointed earlier, so there is no need to even celebrate, honour and remember those that have cause hardship to us.

Why do people from the Southern part of Nigeria like to exonorate themselves from the problems of this country? I do not understand why I and my brethren should be blame for failure of governance while we all suffer from the same affliction. History will vindicate us, now that there were 8 years of OBJ and probably 8 years of Jonathan and we shall see what different will they make.

Nigerians, irrespective of the regions they come from, they have questionable character. As individuals, we may be achievers, but we are not good for team work. Typical family business, brothers will be scheming and counter scheming against each other, let alone when you are pitched against people of different ethnicity.

And by the way--

IBB - Gwari
Atiku - Fulani (not Hausa/Fulani)
Danjuma - Jukun
Yar'adua - Hausa-Fulani
Abacha - Hausa - kanuri

Most Nigerians have little knowledge of other countries other than the daily dossage of western propaganda they watch on thier satelittes canal. Most of these countries, at local level are economically better than Nigerians.

Last year I was watching how the whole world is making fuss about cholera in Zimbabwe, but at the same time more people died of the same cholera in Katsina and Sokoto state. But unfortunately for Nigeria, because we dash them our oil, they never come to mainland Nigeria to report anything to the outside world. That is why, you can watch CNN or BBC in Nigeria for a year, unless there is major religious crises nobody is going to report it.

Fresh plot to kill Jonathan uncovered •2 ministers, 2 ex-govs implicated •Misguided elements want to pull me down - Acting President

Written by Taiwo Adisa and Okey Muogbo, Abuja

THE Federal Government, on Wednesday, uncovered a plot against Acting President Goodluck Jonathan by some elements said to be aggrieved about his emergence.
The office of the Acting President has confirmed that there is, indeed, a plot to discredit the acting president and pull down his administration.

Besides the anger in some quarters over his emergence, some forces were also said to be aggrieved about the decision of the acting president to cancel the proposed sale of oil wells, in another oil bid round that would have empowered some key figures in the polity.

Sources in Abuja told the Nigerian Tribune that some top security operatives had uncovered a plot by a group said to be “utterly disturbed and bitter” by the acting president’s resolve to cancel the oil bid round.

The bidding was to take place last week, but the acting president stopped it.

Sources said that some of those
who lost out in the bidding round were already being investigated to know their involvement in the alleged plot.

A source said that some of those who lost out in the planned oil well deal included two former governors, who had planned to take one oil well each, two ministers and a presidential aide, who is said to be interested in three oil wells and fronting for three foreign interests: a Taiwanese, a Chinese and a Middle East company.

It was gathered that some highly connected persons had concluded arrangements to ensure that certain persons grab some lucrative oil wells through the bid round and that those who had already targeted some wells were bitter that Dr. Jonathan cancelled the bid.

Sources said that a group working in and outside the government met on Monday night at a location in Abuja and resolved to deal with the acting president for “daring to cancel the oil bid round.”

It was gathered that a tape recording of the discussions at the said meeting was already in possession of the government, which is already investigating those linked to the plot.

Sources said that the discussion at the said meeting dwelt on the anger of the group and the ways by which it planned to deal with the acting president.

One of those involved in the meeting was said to have said in exasperation: “We have to deal with him; we have to kill him.”

It was gathered that one of the decisions was to deliberately distort information about the emerging administration of the acting president in a way that would portray him as a spendthrift and an administrator who was eager to loot the treasury.

A source said that the group plotting against the acting president had been linked with unfounded allegations that the acting president had spent N300 billion since November 23, 2009, when President Yar’Adua travelled out of Nigeria for medical treatment.

A source said that the group had also been spreading rumours that the lawmakers, who facilitated the passage of the motion that empowered the vice-president as acting president, were financially mobilised.

“We have watched these people and we have to allow the operatives to do their work. They are responsible for the lot of distortions in the land. Whereas the information we have is that those opposed to the emergence of the acting president were mounting pressures on senators not to budge and were making promises of huge financial rewards, they want to turn the information around and turn things on their heads.

“The government cannot go to sleep over this,” a source said on Wednesday.

‘Misguided elements want to pull me down’
The office of the acting president, Dr. Jonathan, has alerted the nation to a grand plan by some people to pull his government down.

In a statement, on Wednesday, the spokesman of the acting president, Mr. Ima Niboro, said the enemies of Jonathan had voted billions of naira to fight the acting president.

The statement entitled “of N300 Billion and other absurd tales!”, read: “Today, the first instalment of the planned and well coordinated media onslaught against the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, was published in a national newspaper” [not the Nigerian Tribune], “alleging that he (the Acting President) approved the expenditure of a whopping N300 billion, for both pro-Yar'Adua rallies and those that were in his interest.” The report also claimed that members of the National Assembly were bribed to do their patriotic duty to save the nation from drift.

“It can be recalled that a few days ago, there was an allegation of a purported release of two billion US dollars from the Excess Crude Account to governors to facilitate their endorsement of Jonathan as Acting President.

“While we commend the Chairman of the Governor’s Forum, Dr. Bukola Saraki, for dealing satisfactorily with that allegation in a rejoinder, it is interesting to note that two billion dollars translate to roughly N300 billion. There is, therefore, no question that both allegations emanate from the same source.

“We know those behind these publications. Nigerians have come to know them as careerists in power. But we see them as misguided elements determined to exceed their call of duty and play God over the affairs of the Nation.

“They are wicked and ungodly and their time is up! Never, again, must we allow our nation to be strangulated by a privileged few who will rather fiddle with our common wealth while the nation burns.

“We are aware that they have set aside a huge war chest in billions of naira to bring the Jonathan Acting Presidency to disrepute by any means possible. It is, therefore, hardly surprising that as cunny as these allegations obviously sound, they still get mention in our media space. We are fully on the tracks of this so-called group; this unfortunate band of liars. In the fullness of time, they shall be brought to book.

“We find no need to dignify the N300 billion allegation with a response. What is more, those selling this lie are careful to state that the money was procured from a certain businessman, who is to be settled in a matter of weeks by “a huge oil contract.”

“Three hundred billion naira sourced from one man at a go? We demand to know who this businessman is. Anyone that keeps liquid cash of N2 billion dollars to bribe people belongs only in jail! Huge oil contract? Maybe Nigerians need to ask those who have been involved in handing out such contracts how such quid pro quo deals are done.

“Let me use this medium to reiterate that we shall not be deterred by campaigns of calumny or any other method whatsoever in our collective efforts to reform this nation, and change our ways of doing things once and for all. The acting president is determined, and he is counting on the total support of all Nigerians”, the statement concluded.

This is not news. This just a mere fabrication.

The first thing that Jonathan have to do to ensure sanity in Nigeria is to rain in on these Newspapers that publish purported conspiracy theories as News and selling same to Nigerians. If the agenda of these Newspapers is to instigate another civil war, then they are really trying. But honestly something have to be done to these guys. This news stinks of hidden agenda

I do not understand why Nigerian Newspapers reports sensational rumours as news. If it has to do with hatred of the North, the damage they are doing to the collective pysche of Nigerians is beyond just tribal aggrandizement.

How can 60 members meet in a house (residence) of one Rep. How can he accommodate such in his residence.

Haba, I hate Nigerian Newspapers now. They have nothing to report rather than rumours and lies.

Hardtalk:
I will support the call too to have multiple Capitals, if indeed, it will not involve corruption.
The benefits will be too numerous:

1. It will create employment.
2. It will lead to rapid development.
3. It will create a sense of belonging.
4. Tax payers money will at least for ones, be judiciously used, compared to over blotted Abuja contracts.
5. It may serve as capital for the whole of Niger Delta. Port-harcourt, is totally out of it.
6. It will bring government closer to the people.
7. Another capital in Niger Delta, may serve as check and balance, and make government more accountable.

These are just the few, amongst the numerous benefits. South Africa has about four capitals, and there is relative peace, except for crime, AIDS, and cry for help by locals, for employment.
We already have multiple capitals. Every state have its own capital and they are suppose to serve as a nerve centre for development. With resources, planning and good governments, the state capitals are suppose to be more devoloped than the federal territory.

Take example of the US. Cities Like LA, NY, Chigago, Atlanta are massive, big, and developed. A city like San Francisco is not even a capital of any state. Individual states are suppose to create wealth, nuture it, and move beyond hand-outs from federal government.

I think Oil is making people Lazy. Now people don't even use their brain to think.

Not only a big deal, but that is what responsible marriage is all about.
I find it some how weird when my friends tell me their wives do not know how mcuh they earn. It saves you a lot of trouble if you are not making enough, and especially when you have a single source of income.
My spouse, not only knows how much I earn, but she manage the whole thing. She is very thrifty and so manage it far better than me. My folks no longer ask me for money, and they all tell her all their needs in advance. So that she plans and include everybodies needs within the limited budget. Alll I do is to make sure I open as much multiple sources of income as possible.

To broaden the topic, i can't help but wonder why at the resolution of virtually all the divorce cases, the woman goes back to her parents' house with NOTHING! It is almost as if she never existed in the first place despite the time, labor, and money she must have contributed into building her home(really do not want to go into d fact, that her uterus was licensed to habour a fetus for 9 months, once every 2 years for 8 years, if not more). And of course, let's not forget the plight of the widows, female focal place mutilations, honor killings, It is a jungle out there, and we the women are clearly the VICTIMS.
Because we do not have family laws. There are certain individuals in the society who are hell bend on preventing family laws.

Moreover, in Nigeria, justice is never done. We have no laws. The little laws we have, are not enforce.

It is a pity. In some part of Nigeria women are treated like commodity.

With God, all things are possible. Divorce or getting another woman is the wrong decision to make. Forgiveness and trying to understand each other in love and in Christ is the only logical thing to do now. Think about it.
God is not a basket of rubbish. How can somebody abandone his family and expect God to do miracle for him.

This guy is a classical example of numerous Nigerians I met after I letf Nigeria. They abandone their family and pretend everything is fine. Some abandone promises made in the name of God. God is suppose to purnish them. Because we know God, sometimes purnish people for erring.

If you have the means of getting married abroad and take care of the children, then why not bring the woman abroad. If you thing her career is important, then you should pack and go back and live on her income untill you get something.

What will you do? Stay out of the problem if the woman decides to stay. You cannot solve the many unsolvable family problems especially in Nigeria where you have alll kind of relations attached to you because your father and uncles cannot regulate the number of children they will have.

Again you have to understand that there are thousands of reasons why women stay in marriage despites the many abuses they suffer. Most certainly love is not among them.
PoliticsRe: The Downfall Of Northern Supremacy by Tsiya(m): 8:03pm On Feb 12, 2010
If you think it is oil that is keeping us together then you are short-sighted. There many numerous reasons why Nigeria should be one and oil is not one of them. The oil will hopefully run dry oneday, or become economically less important, and that is when you will appreciate the unity of this nation.

The oil is just for few corrupt individuals. They are igbo, hausa, yoruba, niger deltans and they immensly benefit from short-term sell of oil.

One more thing, the Igbos are not occupied. The eastern Nigeria is not occupied. How can you say that?
PoliticsRe: The Downfall Of Northern Supremacy by Tsiya(m): 7:46pm On Feb 12, 2010
EzeUche:
I am a proud supporter of MASSOB. And any organization that agitates for the disintegration of Nigeria. Even the  Oodua Peoples Congress has my support.

See some people are still delusional about One Nigeria.

Most Igbos support having their own state. It is just the weak Yoruba who are afraid of the Hausa that are afraid to leave the nation.
It is not about being afraid. They want to be together. Even the elders of Igbo such Azikwe, Ironsi wanted a Unified country. It is for your own information that prior to independence, the Northern Nigeria wanted a separate country but were persuaded to remain part of this nation.

The south sudan, fought for more than 20 years. And in the case of south sudan, it was occupation by the Arab.

But in the case of the Igbos in Nigeria, nobody is occupying you.

Anyway, keep going with your fantasy. You aint going nowhere.

Now that you have Goodluck as President, let us see what difference will he make.
FamilyRe: Do You Actually Need A Househelp? by Tsiya(m): 7:28pm On Feb 12, 2010
It is not a question of affordability, rather it is about cheap labour. Despite all your numerous household chores, if the living standard in Nigeria is better than what we have today, and we have good labour laws such that there is minimum wage, then only very few people will afford housemaids. People are just using the excuse of cheap labour to subject other people to untold hardship.

I do not mind employing an elderly woman as a househelp or nanny. But we all know that in Nigeria, in many cases, the housemaids, mostly girls, are minors. Some are even our relatives. And it is not new that these girls are subjected to hardship. You employ only one house girl. Pay her 3000 a month. She will do cooking, cleaning, ironing, taking care of kids and going on errands. Some are just slavery and in some cases these poor souls get a bitten of their lives.

The only payment I want is for the entire East to have its independence. Give us a referendum! I bet you that most people in the East would opt out of this federation just like the people of Southern Sudan are about to do.

I forget to add that: so you belief your gods - America will disintegrate Nigeria. Look my friend the era of countries disintegrating to satisfy the curiosity of some few theorist has not come yet. You cannot build a house in Abuja or Lagos, buy a laptop and be punching crazy fantasies just because your gods say something and you expect it to happen.

If you want Nigeria to break up, take a look at history. Countries do not just break up without a fighting for it.

If you want Nigeria to break, get your fat ass off the chair and get AK.
