A dream? Nigeria will break-up before 2015 as the Americans predicted. The amalgamation we call Nigeria does not work. I rather have a small car that works than a big car that does not work.

And you have the audacity to have grievances with the Northern people? Have you heard of Biafra? Hmmmm,  When my people were slaughtered like cattle? The scars can be still seen in the people who fought for freedom. The same nation that never apologized for the attrocites committed against innocent Biafrans. I pray for the day that Nigeria breaks up.
I am not a history revisionist and but I don't understand what you mean by the government of Nigeria have not apologised. What do you want? The government should print placards and place them in every town and village to apologise for something that have been apologised for and that government took a strong effort to reintegrate the society.

Have you forgotten that Ojukwu was reinstated into Nigerian army and his full pension and benefits were given to him.

why do you people belief that the civil war is because the North is Muslims and the South are Christains. In AFrican countries there are numerous countries have had civil wars and clearly they have nothing to do with religious difference.

I would not consider Kogi state part of the "north" as well.

Any state above Kwara State and Benue State should be considered the north. Now I know that the inhabitants of Niger State and Plateau State would not be too happy, but we should cede that to the Arewa Republic for the greater good, because the Hausa that live in those states would not let those states go.
This is just a sheer fantasy. How do you expect people like to sit down and be fantasizing on how to split Nigeria and where the prospective boundries will be.

I do not know all your grievances with the Northern people but I do know that one of them is religious difference. That is what made up your fantasy of deviding the country along religious lines.

I don't know what part of the country you live, but I know your fantasy is just a dream. Just 3 years agon, we had a President from the south, who after few years, started thinking of making himself an Emperor of Nigeria. Most people lay the blame of their misfortunes on the door step of the Hausa man. And Providence will proof to us that the people in the NOrthern region cannot be hold responsible for the misfortunes of other part of the country.

finally i have a friend that agrees to my perspective. Thanks a million ujujoan!
My problem with most Nigerians, is the thought that they have monopoly of knowledge and wisdom. Overtime I have begin to wonder, if the people on this forum are among the few privilege Nigerians and are expected to be the managers of this country and our wealth then we ain't gonna go anywhere.

Why do you think that your perspective is the ultimate and anybody that disagree with you is your enemy?

sanusi did a gr8t job but sacking 5 bank chiefs and bringing unstability into the stock market is not a child's play. All eyes on sanusi. He has to be very careful. He is not working in the united states but in Nigeria where everything is possible.
Actually the instability of the stock market and the banking crises started when Soludo was even there. WE all remember how Intercontinental Bank was running helter skelter when it shares crash to near negligible value and it forced Soludo to comeout and make statement that all Nigerian banks are healthy and strong. Sanusi met dying horses

Now the question is thrown out. would you like to see a northerner been a president again in 2011? Would you deny that there are no terrorist group in Nigeria and these people are muslims? what does Islam teach in general?
So what? What will a Northerner being a President will add to the quality of life of the average northerner? It doesn't matter my friend. It seems you do not understand the politics in Nigeria. In as much as Nigeria remain a single country and there are states and local governments, it is doesn't matter what region the President come from. The most important thing is he should be capable and have foresight for the development of the country and shouldn't condone corruption. Yar'adua won't have been the President in the first place if not for Obasanjo.
FamilyRe: Do You Actually Need A Househelp? by Tsiya(m): 9:49pm On Feb 11, 2010
Honestly, I don't want to sound silly. But there is something about Nigerian and black people in general about this housemaid of a thing. I can count the number of English families that have housemaids. But many Nigerian families have housemaids. In most cases they just go home bring their sisters or husband sister and be subjecting her to mental and physical torture. I do not understand this. Are we lazy or there is still this mentality of enslavement in our life

There are so many foreigners in those Arabian countries doing jobs indigenes would not take up, places like Qatar, KSA, UAE, Omar and Yemen inclusive. These countries Filipinos and Indians do almost all menial works there, They also have oil field and many Nigerian Engineers are doing very well here. These job seekers cut across all tribes, Yoruba Hausa and Ibo / Igbo . Lets us not deceive ourself things are hard in Nigeria, who feels it, knows it, apology to Jimmy Cliff.
Sometimes people are not realistic. People that travel outside Nigeria will be suprise how many Nigerians you will see in those countries. I have even started to think may be our economic condition is too bad that only people from Niger and Benin repbulic are found in Nigeria. Nigerians are everywhere. Thousands of them doing all sorth of things.

Was it not recently libya deported thousands of Nigerians?

Yemen is the gateway to heaven, Mutallab left behind 4 million pound crib just to access this gateway, why wouldn't someone who's virtually a beggar do same ?
I do not understand why you are trying to make this some kind of a religious issue.

Most of these people are unfortunate Africans escaping hardship. Most people do not understand the economic hardship people in the East of Africa are facing. These countries are suffering from droughts. They lack basic food and hence the travel thousands of kilometers to get away. Kenya, Ethopia, Eritria, Sudan, Somalia and Djibouti are seriously suffering. We know there is a large number of Nigerian community in Sudan, I want to belief these are Nigerians that migrated for these areas either escaping the civil wars or drought

Take a look at the economy of our neighbours: Cameroon, Niger and Benin Republic compare that with yemen and Nigeria. On an individual basis, an average yemini is at a par with an average Nigerian if not better based on the economic statistics

BusinessRe: If F.g. Stops Subsidy Of Petrol, Why Spend State Funds On "holy Pilgrimage" ? by Tsiya(m): 10:49pm On Feb 08, 2010
It is a non fact that millions are wasted to sponsor pilgrims and it do not add to any spiritual or economic value to these pilgrims. We all know that. They all know that. However, it is also a political tool.
BusinessRe: If F.g. Stops Subsidy Of Petrol, Why Spend State Funds On "holy Pilgrimage" ? by Tsiya(m): 10:19pm On Feb 08, 2010
It is just another avenue for corruption. In certain states, the Secretary of pilgrims board is a big man in state politics.

Onething I am certain, because of the large number of people involve during the annual pilgrimages, it is part of government responsibility to help organise journey for security and general welfare purpose. However, it is not right for government to be directly involved in sponsoring pilgrims. For instance, it is a known fact among Islamic scholars in the north, that whoever is sponsored by government, his worship is not accepted. Because of the fact that, for every single Kobo spend by a government on an individual welfare, then government should spend on others. Otherwise it have to ask the permission of all the citizens before it can do that. Hence, it is against Islamic injunction for state governments to sponsor pilgrims, Most of whom are political thugs.

But every man have his taste. And there is nothing that remain constant.

Sometimes you can have a minor quarrel and just decide to sleep in the living room. Not that he there is something wrong with the marriage.
Foreign AffairsRe: Sarah Palin And The Nazis by Tsiya(m): 10:04pm On Feb 07, 2010
I am not too conversant with details of American politics but from my understanding, the Tea Party movement are anti government involvement in their personal life - Against too much tax and resourse redistribution. If I get it right, the American Nation is build around freedom from inteference. The country is founded by quest of new life and people fed up with too much government intereference as can be seen in Europe. While I abhor greed, especially the way the current market driven capitalism is set up, I also find it ridiculous and utterly distateful the level of taxes in Europe. In UK for example, you are tax 30 - 50% of your income as PAYE, 17.5% as VAT on every product, bills and transactions, 70% of fuel charges (a litre of petrol always morethan a £1), road tax, carbon tax and host of other loop holes by the government to collect your money. At the end of the day you are left as little as 30% of your come as real money. Meanwhile, you have a bunch of lazy people getting knocked up and giving birth to babies because they know the government will foot the bill. There is need for grass-root revolution, to limit cooporate monopoly of business and too much interference of government in people personal life.

Kobojunkie:
It doesn't?  WOW!!!! Well, the good thing is we have a democracy and you there are thousands of folks like me out there for you to deal with. You better start getting used to people being different from you even in reasoning.
Kobojunkie:
I am not troublesome. It is serious that people are so closed up inside boxes they have defined for themselves and for others. We are presented with information as humans and are each allowed to attack it from different angles. It is apparent that some people feel the world begins and ends with them, in the sense that they allow no other views other than theirs to stand, and that is a serious problem.

We are dealing today with terrorists in places like Jos, what do you think there number one issue is? They are unable to handle opposing views of any kind and that is what we see right here. Misreading of information presented simply because it does not fit into the comfortable box we are used to. Why?

What is with that need? Why are YOU UNABLE to accept that definition of RIGHT AND WRONG does not start and end with YOU? Why are you unable to understand that people have a right to a differing view? That you felt to INSULT and TAG/LABEL them dissenters’ speaks volumes of you, not them. It is seriously childish especially in a FORUM. You need to understand and expect people will not always agree with you or see things through your eyes, ESPECIALLY in a forum.
KoboJunkie on Democracy

Kobojunkie:
Yep, Democracy and good government can only be obtained and allowed to thrive when the general populace have a mentality that entertains both. If the people do not want it enough, it can never be.

I was just trying to cover all ground. You know how our people can be so sensitive about death.

Okay assuming you grow old and your kids are young [for whatever reason] who should go first?

Then what happens in a case where Both of you are old and the kids are all grown up. Who should die first?
This is too hypothetical.

Unless, you marry when you are old, say in your 50's and the woman in her 30's. By the time you are 80's your wife will be in her 60s and your kids will be in 30s and 20s. In this case you deserve to die first. Cos you old too much to be usefull.

Or may be the only way you can allow your kids to remain young while you are old, is to put a full stop at their age so that they don't grow

So don't go killing your self or starting useless threads because someone has moved on beyond NL.
Why do you think people are jobless? Job or Jobless is not what keeps people here complaining and whining.

I hope you are not turning this into an English class.
We have to understand that English has no general rule like some languages.

dived or dove - can both be use as past tense depending on where you are. In UK most people use dived but I have seen significant local folks, especially in mid-lands that uses dove, especially in swimming pools

at last kidnapping is migrating away from south-south, south-east to a more deadly base.if kidnapping is not stopped from spreading deep into the north,it will be very regrettable.
There is kidnapping in the north long time ago, but the kidnappers are usually caught easily. The way the Norther cities are disperse and how the people generally are, make it difficult for criminals to operate and hide. Most armed robbers and thieves do not escape with their loots in the north.
