rooftech: its a known fact that godswill is a product of media hype and propaganda,he has collected over 2trillion naira since 2007.and cannot point to a single project worth 50billion naira completed and has human development context.the airport,5star hotel, nwaniba, oron road, power plants etc was done by previous administrations.lets stop lies.the same poverty that exist in yobe state is whats available in uyo.i mean a state with high youth unemployment.

And you knew all this from where ? Stop talking what you don't know. If you want to know more about Akwa Ibom jump on the next flight to Uyo and see things for yourself .

No one will glorify Eko Ile by posting pictures for him, Let him continue with his madness, after all its almost getting to the part where he jumps into the Lagoon

Elueme: I am not as jobless as you are and neither I mine being assigned and paid to spew lies like you. I got a leisure time to surf nairaland from my consulting room why I am honoring your thread with a comment. Since you have time for facts finding, why have you decided to hide the truth. Your generation is wasted but God shall have mercy on you.

my brother there is nothing we can do about Eko Ile case, he's been cursed. Don't you notice his threads on Akwa Ibom for the past 3 days? It shows a man filled with bitterness that such development is happening outside his native Osun village. And some posters expect us, Akwa Ibomites to satisfy the idiot by leaving our respective jobs and assignments to get pictures that would counter his claim. Definitely not me! Let him wallow in his mischief and deceit .

Afterall the hospitals or whatever development our government has created isn't for internet popularity but to serve the needs of Akwa Ibomites and we who enjoy it can say AKWA IBOM ADO OK! As for Eko Ile he can continue with his madness, when he's tired he will jump into the lagoon out of frustration

I don't why you lots are senseless, someone posted pictures of public hospitals in uyo that he got and even told you to feel free and post any other ones you got, instead, you were raining curses on him. if you don't have anything to add better just reading. Thanks

If you don't know his motive you had better shut up. Do you think the essence of this thread is to inform you about the state of Akwa Ibom hospitals or to conjure hatred against Akpabio. How would he post those rubbish pictures and call them hospitals in Akwa Ibom, except he's up to some mischief. If you want to know the true status of Akwa Ibom hospitals and other infrastructural developments visit the state website or better still take a trip to Akwa Ibom and see for yourself .

Our government isn't into media propaganda like most ACN governors which you see their achievements only on the internet. In Akwa Ibom , the citizens who see and enjoy these facilities are the ones who will speak good about our government as we have continuously done on this and several other fora. Again we say visit and see so you can spread the testimony.

The only hospital under construction is the 20th anniversary hospital, constucted was started in 2007 (8yrs ago) but it's more like another abandoned project due to lack of funds. Work is @ maybe 50%.

Attention to all, please feel free to contribute if you have other info and pictures, thanks in advance.

But for now, that's all I have.

hehehehe! So Eko Ile its now hospitals you have ventured into. I have told you before and will repeat it anywhere I see your sarcastic posts about Akpabio , the monumental infrastructural development in Akwa Ibom will continue to haunt you till you die.

Today I will add a little more curses to it, if this rubbish you posted above isnt the only hospital constructed by Akpabio and you know this but choose to post this here, just for the stupid reason of spoiling the man's name, may you never have peace in your life till you confess to the world what lies you have told.

No matter how you want to spoil his name and works, it won't work , because we the citizens know the truth and will always stand by the side of truth . You have been challenged several times post a picture of a school in your home state Osun , leave us in Akwa Ibom to enjoy "under-development" . Don't fight for us, we will never make you Governor .

Should we not throw open the US Mexico border, after all more Mexicans will come in and more revenue will come into the US? Migration is good, however, when it explodes like the case of Lagos, it becomes a problem, it becomes a cancer. Solution is to open up jobs in other parts of Nigeria.

Lagos over the years has built uncountable number of classroom blocks through its "special committee on the rehabilitation of public schools". They started off with the millennium schools, however, they saw it was concentrated at only a few places like Egbeda and Ojodu. They moved up with most of the uncompleted "Mudashiru" blocks found in a lot of schools in Lagos and today those blocks that have been abandoned since the 1980's are now completed. There are an uncountable number of new classroom blocks in Lagos. From Birch-Freeman, to Apapa, Ransom Kuti Memorial, Gowon Estate, they are a lot that I cannot even list.

However, the challenges remain, these places are exploding. I have read several journal articles that support my assertions and below is one. Related empirical studies in the pdf below by O Aluko also support this assertion. It is time for action, it is time to find solutions to reducing such migration by providing jobs in other parts of Nigeria.

My brother I completely agree with you and I am happy at least there's an intellectual such as you whom I could debate with without resulting to abuses and insults which Eko Ile is famous for.

Back to the topic , we all know Lagos is a melting pot for not only Nigerians but indeed many foreign nationals wanting to have a feel of Africa . LASG should know that the population of Lagos will continue to grow, hence can't complain of overstretching of facilities .

Agreed the government has made several attempts at increasing school infrastructures but the population keeps on surpassing them. What I expect LASG to have done was to come up with a model that would be able to provide quality education at a reasonable cost to the growing population. For example how many new schools have they established, I don't mean adding buildings to an already crowded school . LASG can set up a special education tax fund that would just be responsible for increasing educational infrastructures across the state and most especially build new schools . The state physical planning authority must ensure that in every community / estate (either existing or proposed ) a special plot of land is reserved for educational and recreational activities .
This is a model so that when the government is pumping in money into education , the effect could be felt .

As for Akwa Ibom , we have little schools taking care of an average of 600 students in each school and they are so many of them across the state, even in the islands . The schools may not be up to the standard of Rivers State but it contains the basic needs of a classroom . The enrollment of public schools in Akwa Ibom far outnumber those of private schools. The quality of the education is evident in the sterling performance of candidates of the states in general exams .

Finally , I would like us to know our governors are managers and will always have different priorities , so like Amaechi prioritize education , Akpabio prioritize roads and infrastructures . The bad manager is one who prioritize one sector and allows another to suffer completely .

Some of you have never crossed Niger Bridge not to even talk of getting into Lagos. Yet, you sit down your poor butts and give statements you cannot back with facts.

You know what, some of the schools in Lagos have been divided into School 1, 2 and some even up to school 3. The likes of Sari Iganmu have been so divided yet they still have a huge population of students, more than the schools can even handle. Some schools in the rural communities were built for the farming population. Some of those schools like Ibeshe built for the fishing community were initially to hold a population of about 200 students, however, today with the exploding population in places like Ikorodu and Ibeju, these schools today have more students than they can hold.

What you see in Lagos today is the failure of Nigeria. A case of massive rural-urban migration. It is nothing to be proud of, it is a social problem that occupies economic and social thought daily. It is a cancer caused by total failure of leadership.

What has your current Lagos state government built to increase the capacity of these schools? You are complaining of the massive population due to migration yet you enjoy the massive revenue accrueing to the state as a result of this population. You want to enjoy the mega city revenue but don't want to suffer its attendant problems.

Again I ask what has LASG done to improve the quality of even few schools? Keep in mind he has 499Billion annually for 14 yrs and he's a saint and doesn't steal money?

You need to educate yourself properly and quit spewing ignorance..

And your Lagos comparison was illogical and ill informed simply because there are more people in Lagos state than Akwa ibom and there are also more school kids in Lagos than in any other state in Nigeria.

Lastly, Jigawa's budget is N115.4 billion and they still have better looking schools than Akwa ibom with their N555 billion budget.

Yobe's budget is N88.6 billion and they still have better looking schools than Akwa Ibom.

When I posted the school pictures in Rivers yesterday, there was zero complaints and you were all celebrating and clapping, now when it's Akwa Ibom and their sorry schools, you are all getting bent out of shape simply because you people are too immature to confront obvious realities and let down.

You are misdirecting your anger, you need to face the leadership in Akwa Ibom because eko ile did not manufactured the pictures, the pic came from the state's website and the Nigerian information ministry's website.

I now see the reason for all bitterness . Yesterday was Amaechi schools good, Akpabio schools bad, now Jigawa state good. Doesn't this clearly tells us something ?

Funny enough, the Maku clown and his governance tour people actually visited this school to show case Akpabio's school as dividends of good governance..

I wonder if they visited the schools in Rivers

Just believable..

Again I will ask you what is your hatred for Akwa Ibom state. Your bitterness about the state is so evident that you can't post any thing without dragging Akpabio into it.

What is your reason for this thread? Your spent time researching to post quality pictures of Amaechi schools yesterday and today you posted pictures of 3 schools and called them Akpabio schools .

Let me tell you, you can only mislead few people like you, but we who are in Akwa Ibom (and visitors who have visited the state ) know what we have as schools.

Instead of venting your anger on another state, which is clearly a thousand miles away from you, put that anger to your so called Saint Fashola . I guess if he had built schools worth posting you would have since done that and ended it with your trademark "Eko o .ni baje ".

Let me remind you, Akwa Ibom has a budget of 470bill, Lagos has 499Bill., Akpabio has stolen a lot (even owns a private jet) and yet we still have a lot to show without paying tolls and killer taxes. Please ask Fashola who doesn't steal where is Lagos state money?

Policewoman: Sertraco is highly incompetent. Check out the rubbish they are even doing on the rivers-BAYELSA axis of the east west road. Methinks the contract should be revoked and rewarded to a more competent construction firm like Julius Berger.

I don't know about Setraco being incompetent because they have done good jobs in Akwa Ibom and northern part of Nigeria . Every road construction work usually looks rubbish till its completed . On giving Julius Berger the work , I guess u didn't read the part I said the work originally belonged to JB but they pulled out due to insecurity in PH

The east west road construction is ongoing massively. I just passed there about 3 weeks ago. They are constructing about 4 bridges at the same time. The PH side is progressing well. The problem I think was that they didnt get funding on time and that minister was messing around initially. I think he has sat up now and work is moving at a better speed

The truth about the East West road is that it is only the sector within .PH that is bad. If you have driven that road from Sapele road in Benin to Eket, in Akwa Ibom, you will notice it. this sector was to be handled by Julius Berger but during the kidnapping menance , the pulled out of the project . knowing government bureaucracy it took FG time to retender for the project and get Setraco to do it. Hence the long delay. Also funding has been a mega great hindrance to the project because Late President Yaradua placed the project under Ministry of Niger Delta , and the whole road gets a budget of less than 20billion annually. considering the number of bridges , converts and length of the road, it would take FG over 25yrs to complete.
But currently , the present administration has tried to raise close to 100 billion for that project annually , from FG budget (20 bill), SURE-P (30 bill) and ADB loan (50 bill). This will continue for 2 years, and if you are sincere you see that Setraco has started massive work around that Choba area.

Why are you so concerned about Akwa Ibom?

I think you should focus your hatred on your Lagos State government who after 14 years of unbroken ACN rule cannot boast of good public schools befitting a mega city .

So do you have an explanation for the subsidy fraud. The growing foreign and local debt? This two are one of GEJ's creation not involved with past government.
I would like to limit my response to your post on only the Subsidy Palava because am not well versed with the issues of our debt even though I know the National Assembly has to approve every borrowing of the FG
On the subsidy issue, its very interesting that you can lay claim to the massive fraud in the subsidy regime under GEJ and this is because and only because this Govt decided to probe itself!!! This is the first Govt in the history of Nigeria that has set up committees to probe its ownself and unravel the rot in their govt. All other Govts have been termed "saints" because all their activities were opaque. After seeing the fraud, the GEJ Govt tried to eliminate this fraud by way of subsidy removal, but these was vehemently resisted by Nigerians. As a listening leader, he moved his stance and still looked for a way to reduce the corruption in the subsidy payments. Today we are all aware that the number of marketers have been reduced and many checks have been introduced to verify subsidy claims.
As a basis of comparisons, I challenge you to tell us (if at all you will ever find such data) how much was stolen via subsidy during all the past regimes, except you want to tell me that the subsidy stealing just started in 2011?
Politics / Re: President Jonathan’s Faulty Self-Assessment by tsomething: 6:36pm On Jun 10, 2013
I was hoping that for someone to measure the success or failure of this government it should be based on facts and relative to past governments of Nigeria. For example, let's ask ourselves what was the state of our roads in 2011 and what is the state of our roads currently? What is the total length of roads completed by this govt in 2 years and we also compare it the total length of roads completed by past administrations in their first two years. I believe this would give us a good picture if we are making progress or not. This method can be used to compare other sectors based on facts and figures released from reputable organizations. Nigerians always want things to be done instantly that's why politicians deceive us by telling us lies during campaigns. Am sure if Rome was built in a day, one of our leaders would have used the same contractor to build Nigeria thereby writing its name on stone.
Another bad trend I have personally noticed in our current democracy is the issue of the various levels of government competing. Govts should learn to complement each other because they all have a common goal of providing good governance to their electorates.
For example if the FG, constructs and maintains a dam, I should expect the state government to undertake the recticulation and distribution works, while the local government ensures that the pump stations within their locality is always up and running . At the end the common man in the village would have pipe born water (which is the ultimate aim)

Do you have any official and credible document to dispute the figures with? If not, I'l go with N75 billion. And even at N30 Billion, it's still mad crazy and irresponsible.

Creating business enviroment means giving the private sectors incentives like tax breaks, subsidized or free land to build on, not spending your own tax payers money on goofy projects .

Again, no sensible and responsible government invests in entertainment projects talk less tens of billions.

I don't get what you mean by FG presence because every state has FG presence and furthermore, it's meaningless since Akwa Ibom with just 3 million people posts larger budgets than Lagos state sate with 20 million people so lay off that track especially since Lagos has more and better projects commisioned and in the pipe line?

Lagos state's generated money from allocations and taxes is around N320 billion which they work hard to generate while Akwa just sits and collect the largest share in allocation that funds it's budget. The budget for 2013 is N539 billion while Lagos budget is N497 billion.

What government boasts such money for only 3 million people and still ends up with not a single visionary project and is only confined to roads and generic projects in 2013?

Is it not ridiculous that the main project guzzling so much state funds is a crappy entertainment complex and not schools, hospitals, safety and secerity, man power developement and many more critical services?

What are you so gladly defending here?

My brother, I wonder where you keep getting these figures you brandish. Akwa Ibom state's budget for 2013 is 470bill while Lagos state's budget is 499Bill. On the population of 3million for Akwa Ibom state, I wonder where you got such value, because even wickipedia stated 4.8mill as at 2005 census.
If you don't know what I mean by Federal presence, let me educate you. Lagos state houses 3 airports, a seaport and a land border to Benin Republic. These alone are enough to attract anyone to Lagos state. So when these people come into Nigeria and settle in Lagos and pay taxes to LASG, you believe it is because of the management ingenuity of your ACN Governor. If it were so, why hasn't Oyo state generated 20billion monthly like Lagos? Why hasn't even the so-called Aregbesola generated even 10Billion? Or are these governors not well tutored from the management ingenuity of their ACN party?
Who told you Akpabio hasn't touched the educational sector? Come and see how our schools are built, its not mighty like you may want it to look like, but its conducive for the little population which the state supports. Also its FREE!!
The state is building a 5-star hospital called the 20th Anniversary Hospital, am not on that project so wouldn't comment much about it, but from what I see when I drive by, work is still in Progress. Please ask your ACN Governor what happened to the Central Hospital building that collapsed during construction in Edo state. He will show you a true picture of what an abandoned project looks like.
My invitation for you to come to Akwa Ibom is still open
Please stop the hatred, acknowledge progress when you see one!!!

Slow down with all the emotions, just ask for proof and I'll gladdly give you one.

To start with, what foolish and senselss government invests so much hard cash in tens of billions on an entertainment project? Shouldn't you be ashamed for defending such idiocy and bad financial prudence?

Of what rellevance is this entertainment project to the people of Akwa Ibom and even the malls you are talking about refelcts the same bad judgement that's still bleeding red @ Obudu. What are you going to do with empty malls and lousy investment that the average folks in Akwa Ibom cam not support with their paychecks? It means the tax payers ar on the hook for billions.

Do you know how many schools and hospitals you can build with N75 billion?

Do you know how many people you can give needed money and life changing skills to with such funds?

It's even sad and pathetic that a state with the largetst budget in Nigeria for just 3 million people is littered with abandoned projects...

My dear brother, if u had spent time to read the first paragraph of my post, you would have seen that I replied you just to correct the lies you are peddling and not to defend the government. Back to your reply, your now saying the government shouldn't have spent money on an entertainment centre, but in your earlier post you said a govt should invest in parks and recreation. You also said he should bring in investors. Please I would like to ask, In which shop can u find investors and pick them off the shelf? Investors only come when there is an enabling environment. Now for you to catalyse their coming, govts have resulted to building business ventures and later selling them off to private concerns since most investors are afraid of taking the risk of investing in a virgin area. Ibom Tropicana is one of such investments Akwa Ibom state govt has started. If you read well, you would have seen where I stated that the cinema is currently being managed by Silverbird (Private investor) and the Hotel will be managed by Hilton group (Private Investor) .
In addition to creating employment and man power training in these fields, These investors also come with other smaller firms which provide support services to these main investors and the chain continues.
Note Akwa Ibom is not as privileged as Lagos which has FG presence. We have had to provide everything for our selves and even repaired the FG roads cos we are the ones using them. Hence you don't expect Uyo to just be a choice destination for investment overnight. It starts from somewhere.
I sincerely invite you to come to Akwa Ibom to come and see things for yourself. I state here on my honour I will be responsible for your Hotel bills and taking you round to see and feel things for yourself .

Eko Ile: It's very ok o build roads and all that, but road is part of what constitute development. Many of the governors in Nigeria especially apabio are still on the on the meager side of development mentally and administratively.

Development means credible economic generation and activities

It means investement in Agriculture

It means investements in schools

It means investment in Agriculture/Institute and sciense

It means investments in Schools

It means investement in Hospitals

It means investement in Clinics and Maternity Center

It means investment in manpower training and skills aqquisition centers

It means investments in Transportation

It means investement in Security

It means investement in parks and recreation

And most importantly, broad and visionary projects for the future

Unfortunately for the people of Akwa Ibom, non of the above is going on and what's also missing here are what the governor has been fleecing the state with, the Tropicana and other trivial projects.

The Tropicana gulped N75 billion already and today, it's practically an abandoned project and the man feels no sense of accountability and the people are not demanding any.

If this is all the people of Akwa Ibom are getting for N539 BILLION and the largest budget in Nigeria, God help thwm because this man is taking them to the cleaners.

it's very wicked and mischievous to continue to mis-inform people of things you know nothing about . As an indigene of AKS and also a resident of Uyo am compelled to correct some lies you have continuously peddled about this state.

first and foremost, you have repeatedly lied TROPICANA is an abandoned project and it has consumed 75billion . This is a big fat lie. I am a resident engineer on that project and will state here that the total cost of the TROPICANA is 33 billion and the total amount paid out is about 20billion . this project consist of a 6 screen cinema , a mall, a 14 floor hotel, a 3500 capacity convention center , a theme parks , road networks in the 82 hectare area with drainages.

currently , the cinema had since been completed since 2011 and is currently in use and managed by Silverbird .

The structural framework of the hotel had been completed and it's now the hotel managers come in to select the finishes for the hotel . Just last week the government signed an agreement with Hilton , this means they are now commencing finishing works.

the rides for the theme parks are being installed after being fabricated abroad and shipped to site. all the supporting buildings in the park have been completed.

The mall is currently at 80% completion with only the tenants left to identity interest and the shop front glass will be installed.

already the roads and drainages are being constructed by Julius berger and the main underground drainage crossing the site had been completed and buried .

the piling works at the convention centre was completed earlier this year and work is currently on the 1st floor level.

i will attach pictures to buttress all i am saying and i challenge you to prove that TROPICANA is abandoned.

Due to incerase in scope of works, inflation, and modernsizing some designs/ equipments, there have been variations in the contract cost and to accommodate this, the government extracted the road and drainage works and included it in the 3rd ring road project, therefore keeping the contract cost of TROPICANA still at 33billion

solopumpy227: I do not rate reports especially ones coming from people of questionable characters.

Next time he should do a video/photo powerpoint presenation of his government achievements in all facets of our polity. Those will be easy to rate since TRUSTING HIM IS NOW DIFFICULT FOR MOST DISCERNING MINDS.

Talk is cheap

Nigerians are very difficult people to please. now you are requesting videos and pictures, but you guys faulted the good governance tour which took independent press men to where these projects are located for them to access and give you a true account of what they saw. It just shows that even if Jesus was president people would still fault him. but it's good because that's the beauty of democracy .

Did you read the full story ? Am sure if you did you would have noticed that all the withdrawals was carried out between 2002 and 2007. Am sorry to disappoint you (even though I know u would have loved GEJ to be indicted)
@OP please correct the topic, the withdrawals weren't in GEJ's tenure

After this story of this so called plant which is at an advanced stage, the only pictures you could attach to support this story was Fashola's face and the picture of the 3 wise men. And already gullible Nigerians have already believed this scam and wish he was their President .

Politics / Re: Why Okorocha Was Not Treated In Govt Hospital by tsomething: 11:28am On Apr 30, 2013
two people were involved in an accident, one was given first aid by the CMD of the hospital and flown abroad, while the other is rumoured to have been treated and then locked up. The Irony of the story is that the man locked up is paying the medical bills and travel expenses of the other (by way of taxes). This goes to show you that there are no saints amongst politicians. The mere fact a man criticises the government doesn't make him the messiah . This should be a lesson for those asking for Rochas as President because he speaks well on TV
Politics / Re: Rivers PDP Suspends 27 Pro-Amaechi Lawmakers, Gives Amaechi 48 Hrs Ultimatum by tsomething: 10:57am On Apr 30, 2013
Very funny that Amaechi now looks like a victim and is now attracting sympathy from everyone. People should ask themselves this question, If the case was reverse i.e Amaechi was President and GEJ was Governor , would Saint Amaechi be this kind to him? if you want to know the answer go and find out what Amaechi used state powers to do to the LG chairman of Obio Akpor LG. As for me, I don't pity any of them. It's called Politics and it's a dirty game (So we were told by our Nigerian Politicians)
Politics / Re: Governor Fashola Builds First Suspension Bridge In Nigeria by tsomething: 4:06am On Apr 30, 2013
Are Nigerians so gullible or do we just choose to ignore the fact just because its Fashola's bridge? That bridge isn't a suspension bridge. Can't you see clearly that it's supported on piers like every conventional bridge in Nigeria and the cables were just attached for aesthetics and additional support. please Google and look at the images and principles of a suspended bridge, you would see that it's supported primarily on suspension cables .
Travel / Re: Omojuwa, 24 Others Blacklisted By Arik Air [see Full List] by tsomething: 5:17pm On Sep 26, 2012
Peeps I think we are missing the point here!! Omojuwa (or watever is his name) is just one of the people banned, so my question is "Does ARIK or any airline for that matter have the right to refuse any Nigerian entry?"
I agree the airplane belongs to ARIK but we forget the airport, and its facilities belong to the Federal Government of Nigeria of which every tax paying Nigerian is a co-owner. I should believe that these people should challenge the legality of ARIK to ban them from any airline.
This should be taken seriously , because with the calls for ARIK to be given National Carrier status, it would be a deprivation of the rights of these Nigerians!!
