Politics › Re: The Economist Endorses Buhari by tswitch: 7:10pm On Feb 07, 2015 |
AkoEja: It said, "Start with Mr. Jonathan, whose party has run the country since 1999 and who stumbled into the Presidency on the death of his predecessor in 2010, the PDP's reign has been a sorry one. Mr. Jonathan has shown little willingness to tackle endemic corruption. When the governor of the central bank reported that $20bn had been stolen, his reward was to be sacked.
"He has shown little enthusiasm for tackling insecurity, and even less competence. Quick to offer condolences to France after the attack on Charlie Hedbo, Mr. Jonathan waited almost two weeks before speaking up about a Boko Haram attack that killed hundreds, perhaps thousands, of his compatriots.
"The single bright spot of his rule has been Nigeria's economy, one of the world's fastest-growing. Yet that is largely despite the government rather than because of it, and falling oil prices will temper the boom. The prosperity has not been broadly shared: under Mr. Jonathan poverty has increased. Nigerians typically die eight years younger than their poorer neighbours in nearby Ghana."
The magazine described Buhari as an incorruptible and honest leader but maintained that the former military head of state had "blood on his hands." It said Buhari would be able to revive the demoralised military and address insecurity.
It added, "Buhari is a sandal-wearing ascetic with a record of fighting corruption. Few nowadays question his commitment to democracy or expect him to turn autocratic: he has repeatedly stood for election and accepted the outcome when he lost. He would probably do a better job of running the country, and in particular of tackling Boko Haram. As a northerner and Muslim, he will have greater legitimacy among villagers whose help he will need to isolate the insurgents. As a military man, he is more likely to win the respect of a demoralised army.
"We are relieved not to have a vote in this election. But were we offered one we would-with a heavy heart-choose Buhari. Jonathan risks presiding over Nigeria's bloody fragmentation. If Buhari can save Nigeria, history might even be kind to him." So now that there is an obviously effective regional/joint nation effort to curb the insurgency kindly tell us another reason to vote the unrepentant coupist. Hogwash! |

Pls don't misinform the public. Don't twist the truth to suit you! I was there. I can still remember the cries of women in children in Uromi on that dark day. Alli was jailed by Buhari unjustly (security votes which every administrator and governor has access to even till now) against public outcry. The said amount was complete. And the whole world knew the reason was because he was developing the south! Ali was imprisoned and the tribunal judge could later say he was under a lot of pressure from the government = Buhari. He was not allowed to see any physician even though the prison warden permitted it. News of his deteriorating condition was all over the country and Igbinedion et al facilitated his release on bail on the premise of his failing health. He never got better. Ali died months later. Who killed Ali? Buhari. Why? He dared to develop Edo state and even gave free education. Ali's son still came on Air (ETV) during PDP campaign in Ugwegben last two weeks to say the same thing. On being an absentee Landlord you got it all wrong,I have concerns in Edo state and every suavy investor knows to keep a tab on his ventures so you see I am more " on ground" than you can imagine and I will like you to remember my first comment - No sane Edo person will vote for the Unrepentant Coupist called Buhari! |

laudate: Gbam!! You hit the nail on the head, o jare! That 40k report is a bunch of crap.
Operational expenses are wrongly estimated and goverment taxes have not been factored in. The Techno Oil that he is referring to, has a Gas Plant along Lekki-Epe Expressway, that has been in existence for over 5 years, so when exactly did he write this report for them?
That company also has very few gas plants within the country and is unlikely to expand its retail gas operations soon, as it has not recouped the money it spent importing & distributing cylinders, last year.
Competition along the Lekki-Epe axis where their gas plant is located is very high, as over 8 gas plants are also in operation along that same road. There is a price war going on every week in that axis. The gas plants there are barely managing to break even.
See how the guy said it is the business model is exactly what is obtainable in New Zealand, Australia, UK and India. so far, there are just two companies in Nigeria operating this model and they are in Abuja .. LWKMD! Just saw this thread and you kinda beat me to the punch in responding to that slowpoke. Techno Oil of all companies? The flaw in his scam became too obviois when he started citing thrash as statistics then finally when he claimed he worked in Bonny Island. As at 2008 companies along Lekki axis has already started sales and distribution of LPG to domestic and industrial consumers and the simple truth is that their financial projection is a thousand times more than the values in the crap he is selling although I do agree that the values he gave will set up a modest stand alone LPG refill and distribution company but he should have been honest about it than claiming one of the independent marketers in the downstream as feasibility report source. |

HugeMac: story for alamajiri people ! U think you are talking to Dumb people? Tinubu is corrupt and you know , please deny it , and what makes you think if GEJ wants to take SW , he will need tinubu , when he has EFCC to destroy his legacy
I have been following your comments , its like you don't even know what politics is about
Before 1999, Tinubu had none of these: 1. Oriental Hotel 2. Falomo Shopping Complex 3. First Nation Airline 4. Lekki Concession Company 5. Apapa Amusement Park 6. Maiyegun Land Project 7. De Nation 8. Renaissance Hotel 9. Tejuoso Market (Joint ownership) 10. Ikeja Shopping Mall 11. TV Continental 12. Converted Lagos Poly land for TVC 13. Owned NNPC Office building in Lagos 14. Radio Continental 15. Owned School of Nursing building in Lagos 16. Tax Collector of Lagos State (Alpha Beta) 17. Wife is a member of the National Assembly 18. Son-in-law is a member of the National Assembly 19. Daughter is the President-General of Market Women Association in Lagos 20. N4 billion government financed property for self at Queens Drive, Lagos. Tinubu acquired all of the above and many more not listed after he became Governor of Lagos State, first in 1999 and won his second term in 2003. He remains Governor Emeritus of Lagos, controlling the State's treasury through his protege Governor Fashola. He is greedy and may forfeit all, if he doesn't play ball. You read me right, people! He may lose everything if he declines to play ball with President Jonathan. Everyone knows Tinubu abandoned his party's candidate, Nuhu Ribadu to support the PDP candidate in 2011. Yoruba, however, did not really buy into his support for Jonathan in 2011. We just voted Goodluck because we were against Gambari. Ribadu and Buhari being Gambari did not just cut it for the Yoruba at the time and even more so now. Yet, not many of you still recollect Atiku's interview shortly after he was defeated by Yar'Adua in 2007. According to the Turaki of Adamawa, Tinubu supported and funded the campaign of late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua while the AC had a presidential candidate. Tinubu supported Yar'Adua of the PDP while his party, the AC had a presidential candidate (Atiku) because he knew Obasanjo will use the powers of incumbency to rig the election for Yar'Adua as President. To avoid the possibility of ending up in prison under Yar'Adua, Tinubu secretly funded Yar'Adua's campaign. Tinubu is a political dealer and not anywhere near a political leader. Political observers are abreast of Tinubu's game plan with Buhari. He believes US, UK, Obasanjo and Babangida are on board with Buhari's presidency. So, he is willing and ready to put all his eggs in one basket over # JihadistBuhari and ready for any eventuality. He thinks with America's support, Buhari will win and he (Tinubu) will stay relevant and in control of the Yoruba economic wealth. However, Jonathan, the President they all loved to call clueless has the support of the Eastern power blocs -Russia and China. He will bring down the house on everyone of them. We are likely to end up with Ukraine but Tinubu and Co want an Ivory Coast scenario. At the close of the day, if Nigeria unravels without a well coordinated central command and control outside Tinubu's and Obasanjo's groups in Yorubaland, the two most hated figures in Yorubaland right now, unknown militia Yoruba groups will take over the affairs of the Yoruba states and provinces the minutes Nigeria is dissolved. They will not break up the control of any area under them without a fight. Tinubu and Obasanjo will surely not be in the commanding height of things in Yorubaland. Former thugs, assassins and criminals will surely run things unless the Yoruba Obas and leaders of thought work out plans before rererun. The above scenario is definitely not static. It is being speculated that after the expected defeat of Buhari on 14 February, Tinubu will ask Gambari to hold fire pending the gubernatorial election on 28 February. He will then negotiate with President Jonathan for a soft landing to allow him control the Lagos State through Ambode as the sole condition under which he will prevail on Buhari and his boys, Boko Haram to cease all hostility against Mr. President and his government. If Jonathan refuses to negotiate, but insists on Agbaje as Lagos State Governor, Tinubu will activate the terror cells in Yorubaland in conjunction with Boko Haram in the North on or before February 28 but definitely not after May 29. Many of you shouting Sia Buhari are just a game in the hands of the Yoruba-APC. The real change of the Yoruba people remains change from unitary system to regional parliamentary system. This change can only be possible under Jonathan. On February 14 when you get to the polls, # VoteJonathan In the words of a dear fŕiend "flesh and blood did not reveal this tò you". I am actually surprised someone put this online. Unfortunately a lot of our innocent ignorant youths might pay the prìce for others' greed, over ambition and lust for power simply because of distorted history anď discarded common señse. |

12. He executed over 80% of all PTF projects in the North.
13. He unfairly tried, imprisoned and even callously killed southern Nigerians disregading international and national outcry eg Fela, Ajasin, Ogendengbe, Owoh et al.
14. He truncated Nigeria's first democracy.
15. He is the only Head of State with no laudable project or legacy
16. He is the only head of state in history who never contributed to education -no free books, no class room blocks, no schools, no universities etc
17. He is the only head of state whose declared "asset" is not a true reflection of his lifestyle-one wonders how he funded his own political party CPC, fund his children education outside the country (his daughter's schiol University of Surrey fees is about 8 million annually) and still " survive with less than 1 million in his account".
18. He did not enlist in the Nigerian army with the required documents-No WASCE certificate only a letter from his principal.......meaning he "runssed" (if such a word exist) his admission.
19. He is the only Head of State up to date that has remain perpetually inelectable (quoting El Rufai)
20. He is the only Head of State who has failed all military exams eg other military generals like IBB, Diya, Idiagbon etc always have PSC, MNI, FSS etc to their names - PSC means Passed Staff College |
