Politics › Re: Senate Passes LG Autonomy Bill by Ttalk: 4:54am On Mar 02, 2022 |
FreeStuffsNG: So how will granting them full autonomy address this problem? I do not have anything against them being autonomous but if it means that the citizens won't get value,to what extent then will the autonomy benefit the citizens? I think this autonomy must be tied with some minimum obligations and efcc should have an operational office in all the 774 LGAs to provide regular updates on their utilization of the funds. The ideal thing is for state government to constitute it's anti corrupt agency that would oversee the affairs of local government administrators rather than cornering their allocation. Does state bind by any obligation to utilise the LG money they steal to develop the local government? |

athaboi: it's seriously capital intensive and any state that can afford it... people will pay heavily Being capital intensive doesn't translate to expensive service unless you are referring to other service and not electricity. If state generate power, it should be cheap because of huge number of customers. The idea electricity is not cheap is a lie to reap off gullible customers. The cost of pumping water from my independent power is cheaper compared to when use PHCN, which is charging exorbitant bill for epileptic power |

This is a great leap and one rare achievement from our legislators. It is a rescue bill that would free the people from the emperor that called themselves governors who have done nothing but to hijack allocation of local government and rendered them useless as the third tiers of government |

Mooh247: Something is fundamentally wrong somewhere... This can't be western brainwashing alone I have never seen a country as lost in self worth as Nigerians, it irritates to see some of them on Nairaland discussing foreign issues that has no bearing on their existence, they are always arrogantly vocal on such discussion and you begin to wonder whether having opinion on foreign matters is a sign of intelligence, while the Nigerian people abroad are yearning and craving for their country our sophisticated analysts are starving in their slum back home with a poor sense of sophistry. |
