10 youths have been arrested from different locations in Bende local government of Abia State, over allegation of attempting to snatch ballot boxes.

Ballot box snatching is not longer in vogue so I don't see it as a big threat in this election.The president and APC are trying to scare people from coming out to vote. Everybody knows that under Apc's government, vote buying is a bigger threat. Why is the president not threatening vote buyers which is akin to his party as seen with the tradermoni. People should know he gave the order at an APC caucus meeting. Besides, I thought the military is not supposed to be involved in elections. The president's perchance for killing is moving to the " Next Level "

In a post on his twitter page, the lawmaker said: “Those who attempt to snatch or snatched Ballot Boxes should be arrested and brought to book; this is a better expression to avoid jungle justice or Licence for disorder by thugs who may take the law into their hands.”

He tweeted, “I am disgusted about @MBuhari’s orders to his security agencies to kill people for ballot-snatching.

“How can a civilian President, who is supposed to be the defender of the rule of law, speak like this? You don’t kill people for ballot-snatching, you arrest and prosecute them.”

NJC constitutes 5-man committee to investigate petitions written against Justice Walter Onnoghen, and Justice Tanko Muhammad, in line with Rule 20 (1) of its Regulations.

NJC’s Director of Information, Mr. Soji Oye, said in a statement that the council took the decision after accepting “the result of the preliminary assessment of the petitions” written against the duo.

He said the council considered the “petitions to be worthy of further investigation and should not be terminated under Rule 17 of the Judicial Discipline Regulations o the Council”.

“Consequently, the council constituted a five-memberNJC Investigation Committee pursuant to Rule 20(1) of the Judicial Discipline Regulations under the chairmanship of Hon. Mr. Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria,” the statement said.

It added that a new petition was filed against Justice Muhammad by the Action People’s Parting, adding that the council gave the acting CJN “abridged seven days” for his “comments”.
