What we all want is for the country to move forward. Every one is entitled to his/her opinion as to the way things are in the country since the inauguration of President M Buhari. It is important to put our leaders on their toes and ensure they deliver on the manifestoes and promises. |

princeuk21: i just saw someone post that he invested 100k for 91days and received 524.82 and he said the interest is low. the problem with some of us is that we don't read or like to read. i don't know about some of us but if you ask me I'll say its not adviceable to tie 100k for 3 months expecting N500. we have little business out there that can pay you real good with as low as 10k. treasury bill is for big fund and you will always enjoy NTB with huge fund not N10,000 or N100,000. Beginners should Read books on financial intelligence to enable them grow financially and you can always read through the thread if you are free to enable you be ahead of some of us in this thread it will pay you real good.
Someone also asked if treasury bill its safe or risk free and the answer is YES (but if there is a civil war then your principal will be refunded after the war but have no fear for now ).
Enjoy the thread we are always here to help
Princeuk21 The truth be told, NTB is the safest form of savings deposit. Real investment involves taking calculated risk. There are good investments in which you can get twice the returns on Treasury bills. So let guys see TBills as part of investment portfolios and not the ultimate investment package |

atbu1983: How United State Speaker is Selected
The House of Representatives elects the Speaker of the House on the first day of every new Congress and in the event of the death or resignation of an incumbent Speaker. The Clerk of the House of Representatives requests nominations: there are normally two, one from each major party (each party having previously met to decide on its nominee). The Clerk then calls the roll of the Representatives-elect, each Representative-elect indicating the surname of the candidate he or she is supporting. Representatives-elect are not restricted to voting for one of the nominated candidates and may vote for any person, even for someone who is not a member (or member-elect) of the House at all. They may also abstain by voting "present". [3]
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Speaker_of_the_United_States_House_of_Representatives
Note that it is stated that the political parties made the decision of who to contest ahead of time. And each party only present one person.
APC is doing the right thing Wheb did the US constitution or way of practise become our standard. The speaker is not that of APC but of the house of representatives. Let the party follow the example of the President. Hands off |

Politics › Re: List Of 46 Bills The Nigerian Senate Passed Yesterday by tunene66: 10:58am On Jun 04, 2015 |
faroukfahima: Yesterday the strangest thing happened when the Nigerian Senate passed a record 46 bills into law in just 10 minutes.
The bills were introduced by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, Senator Ita Enang and all 46 of them had been recently passed by the lower House of Representatives.
The Senate’s decision to pass the bills was predicated on the fact that the life of the current assembly is expected to expire in a few days time and that enough resources had already been expended in processing the bills, hence there was the need to pass them and forward same to the President for his assent.
According to Enang, the “bills by this resolution are hereby read and deemed read a third time and passed, to be transmitted to the President for assent in accordance with the Acts (Authentication) Act, and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999.
“That the votes and proceedings containing all bills be produced for adoption, as passed by the House.”
Not everyone accepted the fast track.
Some senators led by Senator Domingo Obende, Edo State, and George Sekibo, Rivers State, opposed the passage of the bills in less than ten minutes.
The Senate President asked them to write their names and signature when the house became too rowdy and efforts to calm them failed.
Here are the 46 bills passed by the senate:
1. Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Establishment etc) Act (Amendment), 2015;
2. Office of the Nigerian Financial Ombudsman Bill;

http://www.forumspotz.net/see-list-of-46-bills-the-nigerian-senate-passed-yesterday/ To me there is nothing extra-ordinary in what they did, only that it may bring up an argument that why not have a unicameral legislature. If those bills were not passed like that, it means the 8th National Assembly will start all over and that will be a waste of time and resources. It also brings to the fore that the primary responsibility is to make laws for the good governance of the country. Probes and inquiries into money matters should be left in the hands of the police, ICPC and EFCC |

myjoy08: Let's have some discussion, what strategy do work for you in the stock market?
Below are the one i adopted from Kelvin O'leary...
The bearish trend in the market shouldn't allow us to ignore this simple formula of stock markets pattern, which i adopted from chairman of O'Leary Funds. The 3 simple formula are as follows:
* Never invest in a security or stock that doesn't pay a dividend or interest. * Always save a consistent portion of your income. * Spend the interest, never the principal.
In summary, the 3 formula can be said to be "One should keep making money while you wait"! All contributions are welcome... In addition look before you leap; While you cant be 100% correct, take calculated risk. You win some, you loose some |

My observation to d house: instead of referring newbies to page1, it wld b grt if one of d experts made a summarized post of what needs to b known for newbies. For starters lets all read 'Animal Farm" by George Orwell. I think that as a nation let ask ourselves are we really willing to change? It has been said that people normally get the leadership they deserve. As individuals let us all resolve to change for the better effective NOW. Many a leader have rode into power on a tide of mass popularity, only to perform woefully when in power and exit rather undignified, maligned and worse of. |

Aloaye: I've not used Mytradebook but from observations on comments here
Meritrade(I use this) pros: Good customer service, Accounts gets credited as soon as you contact them and they have a mobile app, good reputation in the stock exchange too, easy to open and complete opening form online.
cons: The online data update is not instant and you dont get to see trade as they happen. You can balance this up with the nse website but it's not too good especially when your major strategy is JIJO(Jump In, Jump out)
Morgan: pros: Low brokerage fee(0.25%) as compared to meritrade(1.35%), real online data and you get to see trades as they happen, good for JIJO
cons:not too good customer care(tho you may not need their 'care' much), you have to fill the opening form sent by mail and scan to send.
I'm not too sure of other cons of morgan because I have not used it but you can open an account with both and manage your account combining the pro's of both platforms.
Cheers Well I use Morgan and honestly its very good. Really you don't need the customer care services. |

Politics › Re: Subsidy 101: Q &A On Subsidy. by tunene66: 11:22am On May 27, 2015 |
in simply terms to me subsidy is ensuring that the price of a good or service is below the actual cost price-in other words, there is a loss. No concerning the Nigerian situation, the crude oil is sold in the international market at ruling price. Its based on this that the Federal Government bases its budget. So the crude is sold and we import, like any other country, refined oil at international price, together with it attendant cost of transportation, insurance and landing charges. These no doubt makes the cost of refined oil higher than crude (since value has been added). Now the Govt. arbitrarily fixes the refined oil (PMS) price. So the differential is called Subsidy
Well the counter argument is that ideally, the budget of Nigeria should be based on crude oil that is sold to external customers. The crude oil that is to be used eventually in the country should be sold at local cost of production price to refineries who will the send it back at a reduced price. States and LGAs will kick because it will mean reduced revenue, no wonder they wand an Accountant General of the Federal Republic
So to me there is subsidy but its being mismanaged because our monitoring agencies have been corrupt
The way out..... |
