Was he the only northerner that was contesting and did he get the support of the SW then? The man had to face Nuhu and Shekarau who are all northerners and more acceptable than Atiku (only southerners like you think otherwise) and he defeated them all. That should give you a clue about Buharis popularity. The NC spread their votes but just like in 2015, it wont happen again because only 2 major parties are involved and there is absolutely no reason why you can be sure of Atikus victory in the NC.
