PoliticsElectorates Hail Jega Over Conduct Of Presidential Poll by Tunsbobo(op): 8:43pm On Apr 16, 2011
Enugu – Some electorate in
Enugu have applauded INEC
boss, Prof. Attahiru Jega, for
a peaceful and successful
conduct of the presidential
election in Enugu State.
Many interviewed said they
were happy as there were
no cases of violence or
disorder in any part of the
state.
Anglican Bishop of Enugu, Rt.
Rev Emmanuel Chukwuma,
told newsmen at Okpara
Square polling centre that
the presidential election was
peaceful and calm.
He said that INEC lived up to
expectation by ensuring that
materials were distributed in
time to polling stations.
“By 12 noon, many stations
had finished accreditation
and voting commenced at
the right time,’’ he said.
“INEC will be acceptable as a
credible Commission capable
of conducting credible
elections.’’
In his remarks, Chief Nduka
Eya, Secretary-General of
Ohaneze Ndigbo, said after
he had voted that INEC had a
chairman with a difference.
“I am appealing to all field
officers of INEC because that
is where the problem is; to
follow the example of their
leader Attahiru Jega,
professor.
“He has shown us that he is
a man of integrity.’’
Eya expressed optimism that
the governorship and states
Houses of Assembly elections
would go the same way.
Mrs Rita Iloabuchi, another
elector, said she was happy
that she exercised her
franchise without
experiencing any rancour.
According to her, the
development means that
INEC has improved on its
operations. (NAN)
PoliticsJonathan Leads In Enugu! by Tunsbobo(op): 8:36pm On Apr 16, 2011
By Tony Edike, Enugu
CHIEFTAINS and stalwarts of
PDP in Enugu state virtually
delivered votes from
various polling centres
within their electoral wards
to President Goodluck
Jonathan in Saturday’s
presidential poll.
Results released at the
polling centres where the
party chieftains voted last
night indicated that Jonathan
won convincingly with some
delivering 100 percent of the
votes to PDP.
Former National Chairman of
PDP, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo,
Governor Sullivan Chime from
Udi council area, former
Senate President, Chief Ken
Nnamani from Enugu South,
Minister of Aviation, Dr Fidelia
Njeze, Senators Ike
Ekweremadu and Ayogu Eze
and Chief Anayo Onwuegbu
all delivered the votes to
Jonathan.
Even the Nkanu West base of
the former Governor of the
state, Senator Chimaroke
Nnamani, which voted
massively for People for
Democratic Change, PDC in
the National Assembly polls,
yesterday, turned in their
votes for PDP.
Although collation of results
were still going on at the
various local government
collation centres by press
time, there are clear
indications that PDP swept
the polls in the state with the
CPC and ACN scoring single
digits in most centres.

Bottomline, buhari lost his chance to become president of nigeria when his alliance talks with acn failed! There is no hope for the general even if he cries forever
PoliticsRe: Buhari Broke Into Tears by Tunsbobo(m): 6:17pm On Apr 14, 2011
if he cries or not, who cares? This buhari is just too deceptive! I believe the only reason why he cried was to gain symphaty from the populace. The big question is, why is he crying just few days to the elections? The answer is obvious.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu and Co Have Damaged My Candidacy- - - - -Ribadu by Tunsbobo(m): 6:03pm On Apr 14, 2011
The failure of the alliance talks were in no way acn or tinubu's fault! The cpc came to that meeting with selfish interests, while acn was selfless in all their dealings, and with the aim of defeating pdp. Cpc behaved so desperately to grab power and didn't want acn to be part of the future administration(that is if cpc eventually wins).
PoliticsCarpenter Palpitates Mother Over A Plate Of Rice by Tunsbobo(op): 5:57pm On Apr 14, 2011
Jos- Nafiu Haruna, a 22-year-
old carpenter, on Thursday
appeared before a Kasuwar-
Nama Upper Area Court for
allegedly beating up his
mother.
The Prosecuting Police
Officer, Mr Gokwat Ibrahim,
told the court that the
accused committed the
offence on April 10, 2011.
Ibrahim further told the
court that Mr Haruna Iguda,
the father of the accused,
reported the matter at the
Laranto Police Station, after
rescuing the victim from the
hands of the suspect.
According to the prosecutor,
the accused, whom he
described as“a habitual
Indian hemp smoker’’,
attacked his mother when
she prevented him from
eating a plate of rice.
“My lord, at the time the
suspect beat his own
mother, he was under the
intoxication of Indian hemp,”
Ibrahim told the court.
He said that the accused,
residing behind the Seminary
area of Jos, had contravened
section 265 of the Penal
Code.
When the case came up for
hearing, the accused pleaded
not guilty to the charges and
begged the court for bail.
He told the court that he only
beat up his sister who
attempted to prevent him
from eating the rice and that
he did not touch his mother.
The trial judge, Malam
Mustapha Hassan, granted
the accused bail in the sum
of N10,000 with one
`reasonable surety’ in like
sum.
He later adjourned the case
to May 18, for further
hearing

Gbawe:
You fail to understand that most Ribadu Nairaland supporters are liberal, sophisticated and highly refined - more so than supporters of other candidates in my opinion. They are not thugs and don't particularly believe in shouting anyone down. It is my own guess that many of Ribadu's Nairaland fans are personally successful and proffesionally fulfilled folks going by the many sophisticated fans of Ribadu who happen to be prominent Nigerians we all know . Those type of folks rarely approach issues and life as if it is war or "do or die" . If Ribadu does not win he has certainly done himself and his supporters proud because the lamentations of the greatest Nigerian social critics ( eg Fela, Wole Soyinka , Gani Fawehinmi et al) is that too many Nigerians are happy to be bystanders while Nigeria burns . Ribadu cannot be accused of that. He has bravely chosen to be part of the solution and I for one thinks that , win or lose, Ribadu is a winner . At the end of the day I think most Ribadu fans have said all there is to say in recognising that , above everything else, it is effective leadership that is paramount and not bragging rights that "my candidate won and your candidate lost ". Campaign is now over . Minds are made up. let the election commence .
God Bless You, Ribadu All The Way!!
